Social Network Applications

Background and Objectives: Many conventional e-Learning systems are based on static information and consider all learners the same, so they cannot meet their diverse needs and tastes. The main drawback of these systems is ignoring the previous interactions and interests of the learners. The e-learning recommender systems have been introduced with the aim of overcoming these problems and offering the most suitable personalized courses to each learner. The goal of this article is to propose a trust-based elearning recommender system using fuzzy clustering while taking into account the learners' previous interactions and interests. For this purpose, the weighted association rules and rank prediction were used to produce a candidate list of learning courses and reclassification of the candidate list to generate the final recommendations list. Methods: In this paper, a novel approach is proposed, which is based on combining the trust relationships among users and their common interests in order to calculate their similarities in an e-Learning recommender system while using fuzzy clustering and weighted association rules, which are aimed at recommending learning courses to the users. In the proposed method, after analyzing the similarities among users and constructing a trust matrix, the next stages are divided into two general phases: the clustering phase of the users and the phase of recommending suitable learning courses for the users. The clustering phase consists of two stages. In the first stage, the optimal number of clusters is obtained using the X-Means algorithm, and in the second stage, the fuzzy C-Means clustering is performed based on the number of clusters obtained. In the recommendation phase for the user, using the weighted association rules and the final clusters obtained for the users, the rank intended by the target user is predicted for each learning item according to the neighbors of the user's cluster. Finally, based on the predicted rankings, N higher ranking course items are suggested as the target user's favorite items. Findings: Implementation and evaluation of the proposed method on the Moodle dataset demonstrate that with the reduction of the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), the accuracy of the proposed recommendations is increased, utilizing trust relationships, and the coverage rate of the users and ranks has increased, using fuzzy clustering and weighted association rules, respectively, as compared with the other existing methods. These findings result from employing the fuzzy clustering of users based on their interests and the trust relationships among them, which make it possible for each user to join several clusters with different degrees of membership. Moreover, in utilizing weighted association rules, the association rules that are most compatible with the courses taken by the user are selected. Rules selection scores are calculated on the basis of not only the reliability factors but also a combination of the reliability factors and the user's interest in learning courses. Conclusions: Utilizing the criterion of trust among users increases the accuracy in choosing neighbors and limits the users' harmful effects and invalid opinions, which will ultimately lead to more accurate recommendations. Also, according to the fuzzy clustering of users, the prediction of the rating of different learning courses is done only based on the neighbors existing in the clusters of the target user. As a result, it will perform more efficiently for the massive volume of information available in an e-Learning system and it shall reduce the problem of data sparsity.

Background: Knowledge sharing is an important factor in gaining competitive advantage for organizations. Since knowledge sharing involves social interactions among employees, social capital can play a role in the formation of shared knowledge. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between social capital and the tendency to knowledge sharing among nurses. Methods: This study is a descriptive survey. Among 950 clinical nurses, 274 of them responded to a standardized questionnaire survey (Hau & et. al. 2013) which was based on a Likert spectrum by classified random sampling method. The data were analyzed through path analysis using SPSS 15. Finding: The results showed that social capital with the tendency to tacit knowledge sharing (T= 5.74, β=1.35), social capital with organizational rewards (T=4.91, β=1.32), social capital with pleasure (T=6.82, β=3.39), and social capital with a mutually beneficial effect (T=10.78, β=1.73) had a positive and significant relationship. Relationships between pleasure with tendency to tacit knowledge sharing (T=5.91, β=0.14), pleasure with tendency to explicit knowledge sharing (T=4.13, β=0.08), and pleasure with reciprocity interaction (T=5.64, β=0.10) were also positive. The relationship between reciprocity interaction with the tendency to tacit knowledge sharing (T=-2.85, β=-0.21) was inverse and significant. The relationship between organizational rewards and pleasure (T=-2.05, β=-0.22) and organizational rewards with reciprocity interaction (T=3.66, β=0.12) were also significant. The results showed that fitting the model is desirable. Conclusion: There is a direct relationship between social capital and tendency to tacit knowledge sharing and indirectly tendency to explicit knowledge sharing of nurses. Moreover, among the three individual incentives (reward, enjoyment, and reciprocity interaction) the enjoyment and reciprocity can have a very important role in the relationship between social capitals and tendency to knowledge sharing, especially tacit knowledge sharing among nurses, but the reward is not really effective.

In this study, we used client/server architecture to accomplish secure chat between clients without the server being able to decrypt the message by using one layer of encryption between the clients and the server, and then a second layer of encryption between the clients in a chat room. All the used encryption processes based on RSA (Rivest- Shamir-Adelman) algorithm.

Therefore, today, the ability to manage knowledge is vital for organizations, and knowledge creation and sharing have become important competitive factors. Therefore, recognizing the factors that facilitate the implementation and sharing of knowledge, as well as applying these factors, can be a blueprint and guide for better management. In this study, the factors facilitating knowledge sharing in the Water and Sewerage Organization of Sistan and Baluchestan Province have been studied using the variables of information technology, strategy, structure, and organizational culture. This research is survey research in terms of practical purpose and method. The statistical population of the study is the staff of Sistan and Baluchestan Water and Sewerage Organization and the number of sample members is 92 people who were selected by the available sampling method. A questionnaire was used to collect data. Data analysis was performed by a one-sample t-test with SPSS 19 software and structural equations with Lisrel 8.5 software. Based on the results, the four factors studied include the variables of information technology, strategy, organizational structure and culture, factors that facilitate knowledge sharing in the organization under study.

This paper proposed a computer-based test (CBT) mobile application with a multimodal biometric authentication. Authentication is a vital process in verifying the identity of a person based on certain input requirements. The need for such a system has become necessary due to the increasing number of examination malpractice cases during the conduct of examinations in Nigerian tertiary institutions. One of the major forms of examination malpractices identified is impersonation. The study was carried out on the state of computer-based tests in the University of Jos, Nigeria, it was implemented and used to get observations, findings, and relevant information on how the proposed system can address impersonation. In the case study, discomfort, faulty computers, network failure were part of the issues faced during the conduct of computer-based tests. The implementation of the mobile application was done with Flutter (a framework of dart programming language). Python (python facial recognition package server) was used to handle face recognition. The backend uses a No SQL database known as Firebase (Firebase collections/real-time database) which was used to store all data and carry out other related user validation functions. The work presented has rebounded to solving the problem of examination malpractice and impersonation in computer-based tests in the University of Jos as observed during validation with up to 97% level of reliability at different levels of authentication which make the solution a highly recommended system with state-of-the-earth results.

There are increasing numbers of students who use virtual space platforms and social network applications (SNA) to support team project works at home. The objectives of this study were to understand how students used SNA to support team project works at home, how they learn about SNA, students' views of pro and con of SNA, and how much students need any supports from higher education institutions on this matter. This research used business students of a Bangkok private university as a case study. The results showed that though numerous advantages of SNA, students still valued face-to-face meetings in many phases of a team project. Students with higher cumulative grade point averages reflected higher proportions of needs for universities to teach them how to use SNA for team project collaboration at home than the lower cumulative grade point average students.

This research used a quantitative approach through online questionnaire survey during February 2019. The study took business students at a Bangkok private university as a case study. The descriptive analysis was done according to students' grade point average (GPA) and undergraduate levels. The results revealed how and why students, especially those with different levels of GPA, chose to study at home. This study also suggests how higher education institutions (HEI) can support ILS to students who do not study at home. Students with different GPA levels should be supported from HEI differently.

The deficiency of on-campus ILS might drive students to use off-campus ILS. The understanding of why students select off-campus ILS can reflect any absence and inadequacy of on-campus ILS. The objective was to study where and why undergraduate students of business school select off-campus ILS. This research used students of a Bangkok private university as a case study. The research method was through quantitative analysis and descriptive data analysis, using questionnaire surveys conducted during March 2018. Students with any levels of grade point averages and undergraduate levels had similar preferences for using and not using off-campus ILS.

The understanding of why students select off-campus informal learning spaces can reflect any absence and inadequacy of on-campus informal learning spaces. This research used students of a Bangkok private university as a case study by employed quantitative analysis and descriptive data analysis, where a questionnaire survey conducted during March 2018 was used. The results show that students with any levels of grade point averages have similar preferences for using off-campus informal learning spaces. The top reasons why students used off-campus spaces for informal learning were about the flexible schedule, accessibility to food, and capability for social interactions. The top reasons why students did not use off-campus spaces related to cost, location, improper environment/atmosphere and study resources. The preferences for off-campus informal learning spaces remarkably reflect the strengths and weaknesses of on-campus informal learning spaces. Universities should improve their management of facilities to support students' informal learning base on their preferences.

Sorting is one of the most common operations in computing, it has been defined as an activity which involves rearrangement of elements in either ascending or descending order. There are many sorting algorithms that have been proposed over the years, but this study focused on improvement of bubble sort algorithm. A new technique that enhanced files sorting has been proposed, structured system analysis and design was used for design and C++ platform with window 7 operating system were used for implementation of the prototype. The proposed technique, compared with the existing bubble sort, revealed 40% improvement in the time complexity of the sort algorithms. It's recommended that the technique should be deployed online for web-based files management.

The development of information technology and internet is influencing all industry sectors including hotel industry. To support the sustainability of business, the hotel has implemented information technology such as: online booking system, Wi-fi in the public area, and information system for internal hotel needs.This Information technology is run in the IT infrastructure and connected with local network and internet. To support this technology, the hotel has been doing the procurement of IT devices such as: Server, network devices (switches, routers, etc.) and IT security devices (firewall, antivirus).There is currently no evaluation of how effective and efficient the use of server devices, network devices and security devices IT. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the information technology implementation at Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta. This evaluation uses the COBIT 4.1 framework. By evaluating the information technology infrastructure at Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta, it is expected to provide input on the effectiveness and efficiency of the use of devices that currently used in the hotel.

Effective scheduling systems are essential for client efficiency and satisfaction, especially for dynamic financial services industry. For an example there are many clients who come directly to request the transaction data and mediation process without an appointment in advance. This will cause the scheduling process cannot be done on time following client's demand as constrained by schedule activities of directors who already have other fixed agenda that has been planned previously. We analyze some scheduling algorithm to optimally balance the scheduling of clients by considering the broker, clients and director fixed agenda to solve scheduling problem in Legal and Membership Division of PT. Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX). In this paper, we analyze three different algorithm programming methods to solve the diversity of client's demands. Experiment result show shortest job first (SJF) algorithm has lowest average waiting time for mediation scheduling comparing with FCFS and Round Robin algorithm.

In this era of globalization, there are several diseases related to the pattern of human life and descent. One of these diseases is diabetes mellitus that none of the drugs are be able to cure it. One of the small but very essential forms of management is done by recording the foods eaten and recording what activities are performed according to the advice of experts in exercise for diabetic. But there are several problems in that related matter so we using a analysis and design of information system with based on self dietary assesment: food records to solve those problems. PAUD institutions such as Playing Group / Kindergarten are competing to provide programs and facilities that can give parents the confidence to entrust their children. In managing student data and reports, BBIS still use printed files and reports, so that the implementation is not in line with the natural and environmentally friendly concepts adopted by BBIS. With the problems that exist then required information systems that can help the school in managing school information, student data, and daily activities reports. Based on the problems that occur for that required a system that can help store profiles and school information, and also student data and daily activities.

The flow of information between data store and the user interface created a problem of data coupling and dependency in global ERP system. A web-based framework which uses Object Oriented Approach is proposed on Model View Controller (MVC) architecture to improve the ERP system performance and drive increased efficiency. Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) approach was adopted for design and Microsoft ASP.NET MVC4 platform with window7 (64-bit) operating system was used for demonstration of the prototype. The proposed model, compared to the existing ERP model, found that there is clear separation between business logic and presentation logic which provide flexibility and improves security of the system. It is recommended that further research on MVC-based biometric system should be conducted for web-based ERP system.

Attendance is essential for an agency or company because it can be used to assess the amount of employee's salary as well as employee's performance. Therefore, attendance program is needed to maximize the company's performance. Research method used in the employee attendance system is descriptive research, yet for the development of the system, it uses survey system, analysis system, design system, system creation, system implementation and system maintenance that are expected to assist the development of employee attendance system. The application is created by using the programming language PHP and MySQL as its database. In this system the data processing becomes more effective and efficient. In addition to it, data search could be more easily conducted. The purpose of this study is to design employee attendance system that is expected to help company's performing more quickly and practically, especially in the field of Human Resources. This program can show all absentee recaps that employees can do to calculate the salary.

Internet use is needed by the citizen. Information on searches from multipurpose buildings, owners or building managers only utilizes the dissemination of information such as support facilities and phone or email contacts through one person to another and brochures. So, it can be concluded the owner or building manager just use it to get consumer interest. It is inevitable that many consumers are unaware of the information about the building. Therefore it takes a multipurpose search application in the web based at Jakarta to be able to accommodate information and facilitate consumers to get the information. The research methodology in developing this system uses RAD (Rapid Application Development) with fast analysis and design process, software development, testing, and implementation. The design of the model using UML (Unified Modeling Language) includes use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams and class diagrams.

Along with the development of technology, various solutions companies in Indonesia have contributed a lot in the banking sector in Indonesia. Anabatic has more than 10 years experience as a solution provider, and many projects have been completed and have many customers especially in the banking industry sector therefore to maintain the trust of sustainable services as a solution provider then respond to the above there are several ways done, one of them is to explore new approaches to improve services. The management should provide the appropriate means to approach the new approach is not lost in vain. One method that is capable of dealing with change that can make dynamic organizations and respond to change well, it is necessary to strategize and apply the concept of continuous service improvement better known as Continual Service Improvement (CSI) which can be applied in organizations. Continual Service Improvement (CSI) will be aligned withstrategic concepts that fit the needs of organizations that are sequenced logically and have advantages. Therefore in this research using Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as a framework and this method aims to improve the Services and trust to customers.

This researched is conducted to know any contrains that influence customer will to shop on line. The development of smart phone technology and e commerce have been fasilitating micro and small business in Indonesia to get more income from on line transactions. By knowing the correlation between several varibales considered important in determining the interest of customers shopping on line, owner and administrator can improve their sites align with customer wishes. Variables that have major role on determining interest of UMB students are benefit, easiness, customer service, risk, and customer satisfaction. Benefit variable gives dominant contribution to to UMB student interest in shopping on line.For the long term with the continuous improvement of the main variables and the determinants of shopping customers, then the future of online trading will be more vibrant, more advanced, more secure, and more comfortable in the transaction.

The most important thing in influencing sales turnover in a store is physical location, product quality and price. Consumer will be easier to buy batik that is sold wherever they want by online. The concept of online shopping is much in demand by many people. Cloud-based applications are one form of application for online promotion. This requires designing an online application to address this problem using the zachman framework. With this method will be made in a matrix that will be viewed from the perspective of owner and planner.

This study presents a framework showing how to design an implementation process to provide an effective ICT integration in learning and teaching. The framework consists of seven components which include “description of the current situation, determination of the goals, designing the implementation, implementation process, analysis, review, and improvement.” It is suggested to take both 21st-century skills while determining the course achievements in the current situation and design the implementation process taking these goals into consideration. The design phase of the implementation involves the selection of target-specific teaching strategy/method/techniques, technology, and assessment method. After this phase, the design will be implemented inside the classroom in accordance with the current situation and goals, data gathered during the implementation process will be analyzed, and after reviewing the whole process, improvements will be carried out to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of further implementations. This way, a detailed framework showing how to design an ICT integration process will be provided for the implementers.

Eğitim süreçlerinde öğrenciler ile doğrudan etkileşime geçen birincil aktör öğretmenlerdir. Öğretmenlerin eğitimdeki rolleri gereği tüm dünyada, niteliklerinin artırılmasına yönelik akademik çalışmalara ve politika çalışmalarına geniş ve detaylı olarak yer verilmektedir. Bu çalışmalar arasında nitelikli öğretmenin tanımlanmasından, öğretmen yeterliklerinin ortaya konulmasına, öğretmen yetiştirme modellerinde yenilik arayışlarından, öğretmenlik mesleğine toplumsal bakışın değiştirilmesine kadar birçok farklı yönden yapılanmalara gidilmektedir. Türkiye'de de öğretmen yeterliklerinin tanımlanması, öğretmenlik mesleğinin toplumsal algısının iyileştirilmesi, farklı öğretmen yetiştirme modellerinin tartışılması gibi çeşitli çalışmalar yürütülmektedir. Ancak gelişmiş ülkelerin artık bu tartışmaları sonlandırıp fiili olarak harekete geçtikleri ve artık tartışmalarının boyutlarının değiştiği görülmektedir. Son yıllarda gelişmiş ülkelerde öğretmenlerin niteliklerine yönelik tartışmalar yerini öğretmen yetiştiren kişilerin yani öğretmen eğitimcilerin yeterliklerinin tartışıldığı vbu çerçevede öğretmen yetiştiren kişilere yönelik yeni modellerin ortaya konulmasının hedeflendiği görülmektedir. Bu kapsamda Türkiye'nin öğretmen niteliğini artırmaya yönelik farkındalık geliştirdiğinden bahsedilebilirken, gelişmiş ülkelerdeki politikalardan hala geride olduğu söylenebilir.

Bu çalışmanın amacı Eğitim Fakültesindeki öğretmen adaylarının FATİH Projesi kapsamında etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik görüşlerini belirlemektir. Bu bağlamda Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Sınıf Öğretmenliği ve Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği bölümü son sınıf öğrencilerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda geleceğin öğretmen adaylarını yetiştiren Eğitim Fakültelerinin milli eğitimin ihtiyaçlarına cevap verecek nitelikte öğretmen yetiştirme noktasında nerede oldukları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.  Bir olgubilim çalışması olan bu araştırmada öğrencilerin görüşleri gönüllülük esasına göre yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu (YYGF) aracılığıyla belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada veriler içerik analizine tabi tutularak yorumlanmıştır. Analiz sonucuna göre Fen Bilgisi öğretmenliği öğrencileri lisans eğitiminde ve meslek hayatlarında etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik olumlu görüş ve yetkinlik ifade etmişlerdir. Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği Bölüm öğrencileri aksine sınıf öğretmenliği bölümü öğrencileri ise etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik aldıkları dersleri yetersiz buldukları ve meslek hayatlarında etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik olumsuz görüş belirttikleri görülmektedir.  Anahtar

This paper studies allocation schemes Harvard has used to assign undergraduates to residential houses. The main conclusions are as follows. First, students appear to behave remarkably rationally. Second, simulations suggest that, given rationality, Harvard's allocation scheme sometimes allocates fewer students to one of their top three choices than would occur under an alternative system that generates truthful revelation.

It is asserted that providing teachers with environments where they can use ICT for educational purposes is an important step for the integration of ICT in teaching and learning environments (Gill and Dalgarno, 2008; Dawson, Forster, and Reid, 2006; Ward, 2003). At this point, the main problem is the kind of environment that can be provided. In this study, using network learning environments is recommended as one of the solutions to this problem. Network learning environments provide teachers with tools that can support high level learner control (Goodyear, 2005). The growth in social network applications has also accelerated the development of network learning environments. This study aimed at describing a social network application, called ELGG, which can also be used as a network learning environment. One of the primary reasons for the widespread use of ELGG in educational field is that it is an open source social network application that can be improved permanently.
