By taking into account the adoption of integrated water resources management (IWRM) in Malaysia, this case study was carried out within the Langat River Basin (LRB) to examine institutional challenges and complexity and interconnectedness of factors affecting policy processes and outcomes surrounding integrated river basin management (IRBM) implementation. Literature review, field observation, IAD framework for institutional analysis, stakeholder interview in 2009, regression analysis and RS image analysis for land use change were carried out. After analysis, result of the study revealed that policy outcomes fall significantly short of policy intention due to institutional constraints of learning. However, it was suggested that polycentric institutional arrangements under Federal administration are capable to coordinate and integrate river basin management by extending the scope for iterative learning by involving stakeholders at the lowest appropriate level. This learning was conceptualized as social learning and a framework was proposed.

Deterioration of quality of drinking water is one of the major threats to public health in India. Drinking water sources, across the nation are largely polluted due to the excessive presence of inorganic and organic chemicals, toxic metals and microorganisms. Both the natural and human activities contribute to this. Human activities like improper disposal of municipal and industrial wastes and improper applications of agrochemicals are the main contributing factors to the deterioration of water quality. This severe deterioration of drinking water quality has potential health impacts. A significantly large number of casualties, including children were reported every year due to the consumption of contaminated water. In this backdrop, this review focuses on the pollution of drinking water due to geogenic and anthropogenic activities as well as the consequent health problems and attempt to come up with a clear picture regarding the status of the studies and the shortcomings that needed to be bridged.

It aims to preserve the essence of the original verses while offering clarity and simplicity for contemporary readers.
This edition is not only a translation but also a spiritual invitation: to engage with the remembrance of the Prophet ﷺ, to strengthen one’s love for him, and to experience the blessings of his praise in a language form that is both familiar and easy to follow.

An improved sustainability performance of one system does not automatically lead to an improved sustainability performance of larger systems (society and nature). A reliable sustainability assessment must be carried out to improve environmental and social sustainability performance for whole systems. It is necessary to show how a system of interest at any scale should (and can) improve sustainability performance. An examination of the literature on sustainability assessment highlights a lack of a systems perspective in most sustainability assessment frameworks. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to provide a framework that enables an assessment of environmental and social sustainability performance, taking systemic aspects into account. This assessment framework is based on a definition of first- and second-order sustainability performance. The former focuses on narrow efficiency issues, while second-order sustainability performance focuses on systemic effectiveness and covers sustainability impacts on society and nature. Improving the first-order level (narrow perspective) will not automatically lead to an improved second-order sustainability performance (systemic perspective). Thus, systemic effectiveness is not automatically increased in the case of first-order sustainability performance. Therefore, three essential dimensions have been identified and combined in an assessment framework, i.e., the dimension of scale, the decision horizon, and sustainability principles. The conceptualized assessment framework allows to analyze whether an action of a system of interest (e.g., corporate action, any process, project, or policy) contributes to global sustainable development.

Los programas y proyectos que ejecuta IULA/CELCADEL en Latinoamérica están dirigidos a fortalecer los gobiernos locales y sus asociaciones nacionales. Para nosotros el Municipio es el núcleo permanente donde se relacionan los vecinos con el Estado. Porque allí se expresan los problemas sociales con mayor fuerza, es donde las demandas y necesidades tienen que ser atendidas. El crecimiento de la población en barriadas con grandes carencias y el aumento de la pobreza, son realidades que requieren de gobernantes locales con gran imaginación y creatividad para responder con políticas inmediatas. La falta de recursos financieros, la baja capacidad de pago de muchos vecinos, el elevado porcentaje de municipios con ineficiente recaudación de los tributos, requieren también de estrategias claras, tanto fiscales como financieras. La formación de autoridades locales necesita, además de técnicas y procedimientos, de la transmisión de experiencias prácticas que ayuden a encontrar soluciones a los problemas existentes. Por ello, a comienzos de la década de los noventa, el Centro Latinoamericano de Capacitación y Desarrollo de los Gobiernos Locales de IULA concluye un conjunto de estudios breves en municipalidades latinoamericanas en diversos países. Partiendo por Ecuador, el proceso se extendió a Perú, Costa Rica, Uruguay y Chile. El objeto de los estudios era, básicamente, encontrar las razones del buen funcionamiento municipal. Más que averiguar sobre muchos y conocidos males, nos interesaba saber por qué hay gobiernos locales que funcionan bien. A los estudios de caso, se adicionaron seminarios y cursos internacionales que permitieron analizar de manera comparada el funcionamiento municipal de la casi totalidad de los países latinoamericanos. Entre 1991 y 1993, IULA/CELCADEL ejecuta un nuevo programa denominado "Desarrollo Local Integral". Se interviene en dos pequeños municipios, uno en Ecuador y otro en Chile. Esas experiencias permiten poner a prueba, no sin tropiezos, las ideas acerca del buen funcionamiento de municipalidades reales. Las conclusiones de todo este proceso de aprendizaje se sintetizan en las afirmaciones que hemos llamado "Los Secretos del Buen Alcalde". Allí se propone estimular los cambios de conducta que permitan mejores liderazgos, trabajar más humanamente y en equipo, escuchar creativamente los criterios de los vecinos y desatar procesos participativos. Khoupum Dam Project was constructed in 1978, during sixth plan under the Irrigation and Flood Control Department of the Government of Manipur with an outlay of Rs. 296 lakhs. This is the irst dam in northeast India which is constructed in the hill areas. The project comprises of an Earth Dam of 17 meters height and around 600 square meter across the Mengchean River, tributary to Irang River, in Manipur. Sustainability education and conservation have become an international imperative due to the rising cost of energy, increasing scarcity of natural resource and irresponsible environmental practices. This paper presents Makahiki, an open source serious game framework for sustainability, which implements an extensible framework for different organizations to develop sustainability games. It provides a variety of built-in games and content focused on sustainability; game mechanics such as leaderboards, points, and badges; a variety of common services such as authentication, real-time game analytics and ability to deploy to the cloud, as well as a responsive user interface for both computer and mobile devices. The successful implementation of six sustainability educational games in different organizations provides evidence regarding the ability to customize the Makahiki framework successfully to different environments.

This paper looks into how two types of communities currently deal with the impacts, present and foreseen, of the anticipated closure of a mine. One is the huge community of mine workers and their families whose existence has been intimately tied to the mine’s continuous operation. The other is a small agricultural settlement which is now abandoned and dissolved as its inhabitants found their economic activity to be no longer viable. The distinction between the two communities underscores the need to qualify the form and extent of relationships that a mining company has with its impact communities in designing and planning for closure. Bioeconomy can be considered one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy, which brings new opportunities concerning economic growth and profit maximisation and sustainability, environment protection, and appropriate use of limited resources. Monitoring bioeconomy status should be an essential task for policy-makers and other stakeholders as business entities, non-governmental organisations, and others. Bioeconomy data are often unavailable because there is an insufficient distinction between bio-based and traditional industry in national statistics, which necessitates conjugating many data sources. For these reasons, it is crucial to define methodologies, which allows comparability. Such tools can find application in evaluating environmental, economic, social progress in the field of bioeconomy by different groups of stakeholders and granting the possibility to compare differences between countries or regions to enhance policies and support mechanisms. An undeniable advantage of the correct setting of monitoring tools is the possibility of performing scenario analysis and bringing the best solutions for developing the bioeconomy sector. Purpose: The paper's main aim is to compare different approaches to monitoring bioeconomy strategies and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages concerning the availability of data sources. Design/methodology/approach: The paper compares attitudes and approaches of different researchers on evaluating bioeconomy status and progress supplemented by comments. We work with varying sources, including research reports and papers. Findings: The paper presents selected approaches to designing monitoring tools intended to evaluate regional bioeconomy status and impacts. The authors also discuss the differences and advantages versus disadvantages of these methodologies. The paper introduces methodological approaches into bioeconomy evaluation as the initial research stage focused on evaluating bioeconomy and ecoinnovations elements usage in European Countries.

This paper investigates oil vulnerability in Australian cities and the implications of this problem for Australian urban planning and planning elsewhere. The paper has four objectives. First, the paper investigates the changing global petroleum supply context and potential future supply trajectories. Second, the paper uses the notion of 'oil vulnerability' to investigate how such a changing global petroleum context might impact on cities and suburbs, with a focus on the Australia setting. Third, the paper examines current Australian planning practice to test whether metropolitan plans are addressing global petroleum supply questions. The paper concludes by setting out the planning research and practice challenges and responsibilities for urban scholars and educators, both in Australia and elsewhere, in responding to the changing global petroleum context through engagement with pedagogy, policy and public debate.

The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to analyze the horse’s role in equine-assisted activities within the social services sector from the perspective of an ecosocial framework. The goal was to increase understanding of how ecosocial thinking can support the development of equine-assisted services in social work. The partner organization for this thesis was Equine-Assisted Services Kotka-Hamina, whose activities focus on providing equine-assisted services. The partner organization as interested in developing equine-assisted activities.

The thesis examines the ecosocial framework, which complements social justice with ecological justice. Methodologically, the thesis was conducted as a qualitative study using thematic interviews. Five providers of equine-assisted services in the social sector were interviewed to gain insights into their views, practices, and experiences. The data were analyzed using theory-driven content analysis, guided by research on equine welfare and equine-assisted practices.

The findings emphasized the interactive role of the horse in supporting client well-being, as well as the need to consider the horse’s welfare and ethical treatment in the service practices. The findings indicate a focus on anthropocentrism in equine-assisted social work activities Proposals to develop equine-assisted activities ecosocially sustainably are presented. The findings of the thesis can be utilized in planning more ecosocially sustainable equine assisted activities in the social services field.

بررسی‌هایی که تا کنون درباره علل و عوامل مهاجرت روستاییان به شهرها انجام پذیرفته ‌است، وجود انگیزه دستیابی به درآمد بالاتر را در بین مهاجرین تایید می‌نمایند. روش پیشنهادی در این پژوهش تبدیل کشاورزان به کارآفرینان پورت فولیو و مزارع به محل‌هایی برای پذیرایی محدود از گردشگران با هدف تامین منبع جدید درآمد است. این مقاله آزمونی برای مناسب بودن این روش برای افزایش درآمد کشاورزان، به منظور کاهش مهاجرت روستایی است. حضور گردشگر در مزرعه می‌تواند برای مشارکت در کار کشاورزی به‌منظور تفریح یا آموزش باشد یا بدون مشارکت و صرفا برای اقامت‌های کوتاه مدت و پذیرایی صورت‌گیرد. داده‌های مورد نیاز به‌وسیله تکمیل تعداد 19 پرسشنامه از بین مدیر- مالکان باغ‌رستوران‌های دره فرحزاد جمع آوری شدند و در بسته نرم‌افزاری SPSS مورد داده‌پردازی قرار گرفتند. برای تحلیل داده‌ها از روش تحلیل مسیر استفاده شده‌است. براساس این تحقیق، تبدیل کشاورزان به کارآفرینان پورت فولیو توانسته‌است سبب افزایش درآمد باغداران شود و کاهش مهاجرت روستایی را نیز موجب شده‌است. عوامل افزایش اشتغال، رضایت از میزان درآمد، افزایش درآمد نسبت به قبل و افزایش قدرت خرید از تاثیرگذارترین عواملی هستند که از مدل تحلیل مسیر به‌دست آمده‌اند.
The studies performed regarding the reasons for villagers’ migration to cities confirm the fact that the motivation for migrants to migrate is to attain higher incomes. The proposed method in this research to recuce migration is to transform the farmer into portfolio entrepreneurs. The applicability of this method to increase farmers' income to reduce their migration is tested throughout the research. Tourists can join farm work either for learning or for fun. They could also visit a farm for only for short-term accommodation and catering. Thus and within this concept Tehran Farahzad Valley Garden Restaurants were studied. The number of questionnaires filled in by Owner managers of Garden Restaurants was 19. The method used was Path analysis. The results indicated that transforming farmers to become Portfolio entrepreneurs is effective in raising incomes and thereby reducing migration. Through path analysis model it was shown that satisfaction with income, raising incomes and increasing purchasing power, were among the most influential immigration reduction factors. Therefore, farmers by becoming Portfolio Entrepreneurs, through farm diversification activities, increasing farm productivity, and creating additional income can provide a significantly positive effect in reducing migration.

Being a basic need for people all over the world, access to healthy and adequate food is indispensable for the survival of human kind. Yet there is a considerable inequality with regard to the access to food, as is the case with many other crucial resources. The global food policies purporting to address this inequality are in fact further exacerbating the problem towards becoming a chronic one. This paper will investigate the concept of food security and neoliberal food policies from a critical perspective. To this end, it will first touch upon the definition of human security concept and the relevance of food security within this context. Secondly, the policy proposals of institutions established under the United Nations for food security will be listed. Moreover, the global trade regime laid down by the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, and its implications on the food security will be analyzed. Finally, the problems emerging from the global food policies, and the opposition movements that have developed as a reaction to these will be investigated.

Resumen: En el presente trabajo se analizan las condiciones que presenta el mercado laboral de Puerto Vallarta, México, con el fin de establecer las circunstancias que subyacen en el déficit de trabajadores que experimentan las empresas turísticas tras la pandemia de Covid-19 y si se ajustan al fenómeno social de la gran renuncia. La investigación es de tipo cualitativo y se realizó mediante entrevistas en profundidad a trabajadores del sector turístico. Los resultados visibilizan las vicisitudes que afrontaron los empleados del sector durante la crisis sanitaria que se caracterizó por despidos, falta de indemnizaciones y un estado de abandono total por parte de los empleadores y las autoridades, así como las oportunidades que los trabajadores encontraron en otros sectores y actividades, lo que constituye el mayor reto de las empresas turísticas para recuperar su planta laboral ahora que se acelera la recuperación de la actividad turística a nivel global.

At Teachers College, Columbia University, the Games Research Lab has created Greenify, an online social platform designed to foster flourishing sustainable communities. Gamification elements facilitated the creation and completion of user-generated missions, encouraging interaction between geographically proximate communities of peers. Three elements were identified as necessary components to achieve sustainable communities: a healthy climate and environment, social well-being, and economic security. This paper describes our approach in addressing these elements through a crowdsourced, gamified system. Implications for HCI are also discussed.

In Myanmar, the military has adeptly employed Buddhism as a tool for leveraging its political power. This practice can be described as “Saffron Washing,” a nod to the concept of “greenwashing,” where entities falsely present themselves as environmentally friendly. This article explores how Myanmar’s military has strategically used Buddhism to legitimize its rule and maintain control while also examining the broader implications of this manipulation.

The data of this research was collected through semi-structured interviews and a qualitative questionnaire scoring from 0 to 3 according to the Micmac matrix. Results: In the final ranking of Mi'kmaq's influence and dependence in the discussion of environmental influence or civic participation and the formation of the green economy, they were able to allocate the most influence among the issues, and the dynamism and agility of the administrative system has the least influence among the issues in the discussion of the dependence of environmental issues in the order of improving behavior Environmental citizenship and environmental civic participation had the most dependence or influence, and the agility of the administrative system had the least dependence among the issues. Conclusions: The implementation of environmental policies can help the country to participate and cooperate with other countries to deal with national and international environmental challenges. Environmental civil partnership works alongside the government's green economy formation in a synergistic and mutually reinforcing manner to support increased inclusion, transparency and accountability in environmental policy governance.

Methods: 35 patients with acute ischemic stroke presenting within 48 hours of onset were included in the study. NIHSS score was ascertained at presentation and ASPECTS score was calculated (less than 6 and 6 or greater). On presentation NIHSS score and length of hospital stay were considered to be markers of early severity and mRS and MOCA scores were assessed at 90 days. Patients with MoCA less than 26 were considered to be having post stroke cognitive impairment. Results: Correlation between ASPECTS and NIHSS, stay length, 90-day mRS and MoCA were-0.452,-0.632,-0.778, 0.618 respectively. ASPECTS of less than 6 by univariate analysis was seen to be a risk factor for more severe strokes in acute setting with greater morbidity and cognitive decline at 90 days. Cardioembolic strokes also tended to have greater post stroke cognitive decline. Discussion: Poorer ASPECTS score at admission had greater stroke severity in acute phase and has worse long-term outcomes both in terms of functional and cognitive impairment and a cut off of less than 6 can be considered for the same. Conclusion: ASPECTS score is a surrogate marker of early and long-term stroke severity and its impacts.

The present plan of management analysis, evaluation and improvement in the application of the evaluations ex-post of the projects or programs of public investment of the executing unit Programmes Subsectorial of Irrigations -PSI of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation for the period 2019-2021, is based on information of the Subsectorial Program of Irrigations, which tries to analyze as the PSI comes realizing or not the evaluations ex-post of the projects or programs of public investment, in order to know the results obtained from them. Respect to the evaluation ex-post which is part of the phase of functioning that is a part of the cycle of investment, exists a worry of how the PSI has realized this evaluation to the projects or programs of investment that to executed along his creation as entity, but not only that, but also in what condition finds Peru in comparison to other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean with regard to the evaluations ex-post, considering that the repealed SNIP and now the National System of multiyear programming and Investments Management -Inverts as administrative system of investments in Peru already has more than 15 years. The purpose of this research is to propose specific actions of how to improve and to implement the development of the evaluations ex-post of the projects or programs of public investment in the PSI, that allow the entity to achieve opportune and relevant information for future decision making from the results obtained and lessons learned with regard to the intervention realized through of the projects or programs executed, already be these positive or negative, proposing as one of the specific actions the implementation and application of the evaluations ex-post.

The integration of technology into education has forced radical innovations to traditional instructional delivery models. Given its prevalence, a thorough understanding of pedagogical best practices associated with the design and implementation of such programs is critical. Furthermore, the need for an institutional commitment to assessment and a framework to objectively measure student performance against a program's learning goals and objectives is also necessary. The impetus behind this study is to suggest that applying the principles of continuous improvement (CI) to pedagogical assessments can foster institutional commitment and enhance the process by which universities assess student performance. This study applies CI to an Assurance of Learning assessment of two courses in an entirely online supply chain management program by implementing DMAIC as a tool to improve program-level outcomes. The results show how the course content and program can be continuously improved to enhance student learning and the related outcome measures.

One of the top tourist destinations in the Semarang City is the historic building known as Lawang Sewu. The 1918 completion of this structure started in 1904 and has seen several changes in the use and ownership. Nederlands-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij's administrative headquarters was first located at Lawang Sewu (NIS). NIS is a private corporation working in the railroad industry. This paper aims to investigate the visual impact assessment of the public of this representative historic building and its surrounding urban landscapes. It examines how tall buildings affect the historical buildings in the old cities, and how they affect the visitors as well as the horizon and distort the nearby historical environments.
This study chose one newly built high-rise building in the surroundings of Lawang Sewu as a research object and set its height, top, and color as the physical properties. Meanwhile, the height limit data in the current government regulations were set as the reference object of the height. Simulation experiments were conducted on the respondents of different demographic characteristics, randomly selected around the Lawang Sewu building. Statistical data were collected, including the sources rated by the interviewers. The demographic characteristics of the interviewers were analyzed.
The results indicate that the height, top, and color of the newly built high-rise building are influential factors on the visual impact assessment of Lawang Sewu by the public. People of different demographic characteristics assess this historic district landscape differently. This study could be of valuable reference for the future planning of historic buildings and their surroundings.

In the pursuit of comprehending social sustainability, with primary
attention on gender as a crucial element woven into the theoretical
framework, it is imperative to grasp the expectations associated with the
term gender, and it involves understanding the anticipated roles and attributes
linked to the term ‘Gender’ and acknowledging its multifaceted diversity.
The objective of this paper is to explore the responsibilities that men and
women and third gender play in establishing a distinctive stability defined
by social norms. In this context, distinctive stability refers to a balance
between present needs and future requirements of society. The paper proposes
a middle-ground approach that reconciles against dichotomous gender
perspective to build a sustainable framework and find a new array to the
ideal society. It sheds light on gender-related social issues and examines
resources from diverse fields to empower individuals. This research paper
will also concentrate on essential key terms such as equality, diversity, the
environment, and Ecofeminism, among others. These terms require
investigation by establishing distinct connections and examining their
impacts on social sustainability. This research aims to identify the obstacles
that prevent any gender from fulfilling their societal roles, ultimately resulting
in social unsustainability. A comprehensive study of social sustainability
necessitates an exploration of the elements that contribute to social
unsustainability, and this paper will explore those elements.

Scholars generally try to make sense of complex phenomena such as sustainable development (SD) by constructing conceptual frameworks. Such frameworks are intended to reduce complexity by mapping associated issues, components, dimensions and properties. This demarcation process entails arranging variables, concepts and constructs into groups that are internally homogeneous but distinct from other groups. Conceptual frameworks are indispensable in scholarly inquiry, since they enable one to explicate the meaning of concepts by mapping out their dimensions.

Inquiry into SD is generally constrained by the specific meanings ascribed to the highly polemical and multidimensional notions of sustainability and development, as well as the social, environmental and economic dimensions thereof. Contexts and applications can vary widely in terms of their objectives, scope and impact. The purpose of this article is to develop a conceptual framework for the social dimensions of SD by means of content analysis and the Delphi method. The findings confirm and accentuate the multidimensional nature of social sustainability. By providing a structured, scholarly framework for teaching and research, the novel conceptual framework might guide scholars, policymakers and practitioners to gain a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the social dimensions of SD than previously.

At the beginning of the third millennium, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals opened a discussion on the role of human beings in the future. Concerns about social welfare created legal and normative pressures on organizations on social sustainability. To understand the social sustainability in organizations, we developed a research model based on the socially embedded model. From this perspective, this study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge sharing and social sustainability and determine the mediating role of thriving in this relationship. In this framework, we analyzed the data collected from 418 people working in the technology sector. The results have shown that thriving has a significant mediating role in the effect of explicit and implicit knowledge sharing on social sustainability (p < .01). As a result, the organizations encouraging knowledge sharing leads to high thriving levels in their employees, which in turn leads to the implementation of more social sustainability practices within their organizations. This study contributes both theoretically and practically by demonstrating that organizations fostering knowledge sharing lead to higher levels of employee thriving, subsequently facilitating the implementation of social sustainability practices, thus advancing understanding and guiding actions toward sustainable organizational development.

Historically rooted in traditional methods, rainwater harvesting has been utilized for generations, allowing communities to collect and store rainwater for domestic use, especially during dry seasons. As Bangladesh faces increasing water shortages, rainwater harvesting has gained renewed recognition as a critical strategy to enhance water security, particularly in coastal and arsenic-affected regions

The present paper examines the relationship that children at the margins, their multiple lifeworld, rooted in their community practices shares with urban, modern schooling. School-milieu relationship emerges as an important site of research that needs to be explored sociologically to understand its impact on children, their marginal social setting and the education system at large. In the context of this background, the research intends to study the lived realities of a lower-class settlement in south Delhi, Kusumpur Pahari. The study intends to capture the schooling processes and practices of the children from this fringe settlement. Some of the pertinent questions that the study aims to explore are: how do the residents negotiate everyday life in the settlement as peripheries of the city? How schooling shapes their experiences as urban margins? What are the parental perceptions, dilemmas, anxieties and practices vis a vis their children's schooling? How do the children understand/perceive their schooling? What is the relationship that school shares with the community as they educate children from the margins?

Iranian gardening can be considered an artistic expression. Gardening is an art that has played a significant rolein Iranian culture and history. This art was created before the arrival of Islam in Iran. Since the arrival of Islam, it has not only continued to grow and outshine all other arts since then, but it has also attained maturity. Also, painting is an art that has been popular in Iran for a long time and has always servedas a narrator of Iranianculture.Natural elements have a special significance in Iranian culture, thus their depiction in miniatures appears quite natural. Plants appear in every Iranian painting, even if they do not take center stage.Iranian gardening has been used in various forms of art in this country. This study was an attempt to investigate the prevalence of Iranian gardening in Iranian miniatures andexamine the artist’s interpretation of the Persian garden. For this purpose, the miniatures of Baysonghori’s  Shahnameh were chosen as samples of the study. The reason behind this selection was influenced by the close relationship between the miniatures and Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, the depiction in a specific period, the uniformity in their drawing method, and the availability of this collection Analyzing and scrutinizing the miniatures in this collection showed interesting results of Iranian miniatures, which arethe manifestation of an Iranian painter or an Iranian gardener’s impression of the garden. The artist’s attention to detail and the general atmosphere of the garden are among the most important part of this manifestation. In fact, the Persian garden may be thought of as a collection of natural components, whereas a miniature is a collection of garden elements.

The connections between product, processes and manufacturing systems are becoming more complex. Sustainability related issues are important and they are adding to the complexity of the design process. The amount of data that is needed for decision making is growing and multiple parameters and constraints must be considered simultaneously. Simulation and modeling can be used to analyze the performance of the product and production system, using traditional production performance measures and also taking into account environmental sustainability related performance measures. This poster presents research efforts for a novel concept for a simulation-based manufacturing and sustainability decision making system for the early product manufacturability evaluation and conceptual design phase of manufacturing systems. The research presented in this poster has been carried out within the frames of the EPES, "Eco-Process Engineering System for composition of services to optimize product life-cycle" international collaboration project co-funded by the European Commission.

Meat processing represents a strategic sector that can significantly contribute to local food industry competitiveness and national food security. The generous natural resources available to Romania and the tradition in animal husbandry can provide adequate raw materials for the processing industry in order to cover domestic consumption needs and obtain substantial revenues by export. Currently, Romanian meat market is dependent on the imports of meat, as carcasses or processed products. There have been mainly live animals or semi-finished products which are exported, fact which led to an imbalance of trade and to low revenues for the domestic meat industry.
