La metapolitica può essere definita come la scienza dei
limiti, delle regolarità e dell’ironia. Limiti ai progetti spesso
utopici dell’uomo, derivanti da comportamenti, sul piano
politico e sociale, che, prescindendo dagli esiti, si ripetono
con sufficiente regolarità. Va però anche compresa
l’importanza della natura ironica della storia, che insegna
che le azioni umane possono produrre finalità diverse da
quelle perseguite.
Limiti, regolarità, ironia: lezioni che non pochi continuano a
ignorare.
Il Trattato di metapolitica è la prima opera in argomento
pubblicata in Italia sotto questa veste. Il Trattato si articola
in due volumi. Nel primo la metapolitica è affrontata
dal punto di vista dell’analisi del suo sviluppo storico e
della strutturazione dei concetti e del metodo. Nel secondo
volume si verifica il valore interpretativo delle regolarità
nonché degli effetti compositivi, o ironici, delle azioni
umane alla luce dell’esperienza storica.
Per tutte queste ragioni la metapolitica è una scienza che
parte dall’osservazione politica per andare “oltre” la politica,
senza però mai rinunciare alla concretezza storica. E in
questo senso “torna” sempre alla politica. Una scienza che
perciò resta sempre a guardia dei fatti politici e storici

This essay examines the transition from traditional patronage to the decentralized cultural ecosystems of Web3 and the metaverse. It argues that culture has evolved from an aesthetic refuge into a participatory infrastructure where meaning, identity, and value are co-created through tokenization, crowdfunding, and immersive digital spaces.

Ciceró védjegye

A „Ciceró védjegye” kifejezés a védjegyjog szempontjából különleges jelentőséggel bír. A védjegy alapvető funkciói közé tartozik a megkülönböztetőképesség, az eredetjelzés és a fogyasztóvédelem. A Ciceró névhez kötött megjelölés ugyanakkor kulturális örökségi dimenzióval is rendelkezik: a latin retorikai hagyomány részeként a közösségi emlékezetben rögzült.

A jogi probléma kettős:

Monopólium tilalma – a jogrendnek biztosítania kell, hogy a közkinccsé vált kulturális jelek ne kerüljenek egyetlen piaci szereplő kizárólagos rendelkezése alá.

Megfelelő védelem – ugyanakkor indokolt a kereskedelmi visszaélések elleni fellépés, amikor a megjelölést olyan módon használják, amely sérti a kulturális identitást vagy megtéveszti a fogyasztókat.

A „Ciceró védjegye” így példát ad arra, hogyan kell a védjegyjogot a kulturális örökség megőrzésének szempontjával összeegyeztetni.

Maria Luisa Righini Bonelli è stata una figura di spicco nel panorama della storia della scienza internazionale. È stata principalmente ricordata per il suo eccezionale impegno nella museologia storico-scientifica e per il suo ruolo cruciale nel consolidamento e nell'espansione dell'Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza di Firenze (oggi Museo Galileo); meno nota invece è la sua innovativa opera storiografica e l'impatto che questa seppe imprimere alla disciplina. Il conferimento della Sarton Medal nel 1979 da parte della History of Science Society, il più prestigioso riconoscimento internazionale nel campo, testimonia l'importanza e la qualità del suo lavoro. Tuttavia, nonostante l'eccezionalità del premio e l'abbondanza di documenti che illustrano le molteplici sfaccettature della sua opera, il suo contributo storiografico è caduto progressivamente nell'oblio. 2 Questa disattenzione può essere attribuita a diversi fattori. In primo luogo, Bonelli ha dovuto affrontare la sfida di essere una donna in un mondo accademico dominato dagli uomini, dove le discriminazioni di genere erano particolarmente marcate. Grazie a una tenacia inesauribile e a notevoli abilità politiche, la storica pesarese 3 riuscì a superare ostacoli apparentemente insormontabili e a ottenere, almeno parzialmente, una legittimazione istituzionale del suo ruolo. Oltre a questa condizione limitativa, da imputare alla situazione arretrata della società del dopoguerra, bisogna anche tenere in conto che il suo innovativo approccio allo studio degli strumenti scientifici e alla loro relazione con la storia della scienza non fu immediatamente compreso dalla comunità accademica italiana, ancora prevalentemente orientata verso le storie disciplinari di matrice positivista e, alla fine degli anni '50, verso l'approfondimento delle fonti filosofiche del pensiero scientifico.

The Roman Inquisition or Holy Office of the Inquisition was the network of tribunals which, following the reorganization decreed by the bull Licet ab initio (21 July 1542) of Paul III, dealt with the repression of heresy and the control of orthodoxy, operating mainly in the territories of the central-northern Italian states. The action of the Roman Inquisition was limited almost exclusively to these areas of the Italian peninsula, since at the time of its establishment Spain (from 1478) and Portugal (from 1536) already had "national" Inquisitions, structured, efficient, and integrated within their respective monarchical systems. In France, by contrast, the "modern" Inquisition was never introduced, since the persecution of heresy was entrusted to a special commission called the Chambre ardente, instituted by Francis I in 1535 (the survival of the inquisitorial tribunals of Toulouse, Carcassonne, and Besançon was purely nominal, while that of Avignon-the only one truly active on French soil-stood on territory formally belonging to the Papal States and governed by a papal legate). In the Kingdom of Naples and in the Republic of Lucca inquisitorial competence was entrusted to the bishops, while Sicily and Sardinia fell under the jurisdiction of the Spanish Inquisition.

Strijdperk Zuidoost-Azië, geredigeerd door dé journalist van de 20e eeuw, Henk Hofland, was daarom de laatste in de serie.

The article explores the possibility of establishing a historical basis for the existing artistic representations of Ostafy Dashkovych, a prominent statesman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the first third of the 16th century. Methods. The study of this topic employs both general and specialised scientific research methods. In particular, it is grounded in the principle of historicism and makes use of logical, chronological, and comparative approaches. Results. The portrait image of Ostafy Dashkovych remains a subject of debate in modern scholarship. Both artists and historians have engaged with this topic. The most well-known and widely circulated depiction is the portrait by the Polish artist Jan Matejko, created in 1874. It was not until 2021 that two Ukrainian authors made new attempts to create an artistic representation of Dashkovych. A key issue remains the use of reliable historical sources in reconstructing his image. One such source is the painting The Battle of Orsha, possibly created during Dashkovych's lifetime. This artwork is particularly significant, as there is reason to believe that Dashkovych participated in the battle and may be depicted alongside Prince Konstantin Ostrozhsky. Conclusions. Reconstructing the image of Ostafy Dashkovych in artistic form is impossible without reference to 16th-century historical sources-particularly the written description of his appearance from 1529 and visual materials from the period, such as the painting The Battle of Orsha. Moreover, there is reason to believe that Dashkovych may have participated in this battle and could, therefore, be represented in the painting.

Pour des artistes majoritairement masculins, la sorcière évoque l’autre et l’inconnu, avec sa part d’attraction et de menace. Dans une société patriarcale où la femme est considérée comme mineure, la sorcière personnifie la femme forte, qui menace l’ordre établi et deviendra un modèle et un symbole pour les féministes au cours du siècle suivant. Elle incarne la résistance face aux pouvoirs dominants. L’exposition fait dialoguer les arts au sein d’un parcours qui fait la part belle aux arts graphiques, à la peinture, à la sculpture, aux objets d’art, à la photographie, au cinéma ainsi qu’à la musique, la danse et la littérature.

Mary de Rachewiltz, che il 9 luglio ha compiuto il suo primo secolo di vita (è nata a Bressanone il 9 luglio 1925), ha sempre amato questo verso di Montale, l'ultimo di L'estate, nelle Occasioni. Quante potenzialità devono sfumare, quante invece accumularsi ed evolvere, perché una vita prenda forma, si raccolga in sé stessa: «e qualcosa che va e tropp'altro che / non passerà la cruna», era la sentenza montaliana in rima. Passa ricamando con eleganza la cruna dell'ago creativo di Mary de Rachewiltz, poetessa, traduttrice, intellettuale, nata da una relazione di Ezra Pound con la violinista Olga Rudge. Mary avrebbe anche potuto portare il cognome altissimo di suo padre, se Ezra, con la testa fra le nuvole, non avesse dimenticato di concludere l'atto di riconoscimento della bimba, anziché lasciare incompleta la documentazione, come ha ricordato di recente il nostro migliore studioso poundiano, Massimo Bacigalupo. Dall'età di 14 anni Mary, che aveva vissuto l'infanzia e la giovinezza in una famiglia di contadini della Val Pusteria, cominciò a tradurre in italiano i Cantos. Il còmpito glielo af dò suo padre, «il miglior fabbro» della poesia novecentesca, innamorato di Cavalcanti, di Dante, dell'Umanesimo e del Rinascimento: e non sarebbe esagerato, né ingeneroso, dire che questo lavoro, concluso e pubblicato per i "Meridiani" di Mondadori nel 1985, centenario della nascita di Pound, costituisce il più grande capolavoro di Mary: riplasmando nella lingua dell'accoglienza le asperità e le vette himalayane dell'originale paterno spalanca un universo impensato, non solo specchio del testo poundiano, ma riverbero colmo di allusioni talora impercettibili nel livello di partenza. Preceduta da una breve e luminosa Introduzione, la versione integrale in italiano dei Cantos è senza dubbio l'impresa poetica per cui dobbiamo un'immensa gratitudine a Mary de Rachewiltz. Per lei, infatti, non si trattava solo di "tradurre" il testo originale inglese, o comunque scritto in quella rivoluzionaria miscela linguistica che Pound riuscì a creare, introducendo nel canto LII addirittura delle "righe nere", emblema della censura che fu imposta in America nel 1940 per cancellare le tracce di un attacco antiebraico alla famiglia Rothschild (Pound non volle più recuperarli, quei versi, proprio perché rimanesse memoria della misura inquisitoriale patita). La fatica di Mary, che riprese e completò alcuni esercizi di autoversione di Ezra, fu qualcosa di più che una "traduzione": nel volgere nella nostra lingua la dinamica e scheggiata architettura mentale dei Cantos lei, nata da due americani, ma educata a Firenze e poi in Tirolo, in certa misura risalì il ume della storia e della vita, penetrando negli interstizi della creatività di suo padre e per così dire "restaurando" molti strati impliciti, spesso invisibili, della sua scrittura, così radicalmente intrisa di civiltà italiana. Un esempio palese è nel LXXIV, il primo dei Canti pisani, al cui centro si può riconoscere il fulcro della poetica cavalcantiana sulla fantasia e sul formarsi delle immagini in quel «luogo» («and that certain images be formed in the mind / to remain there / formato locho»), che nelle note la stessa Mary de Rachewiltz collega allo studio dedicato da Pound a Cavalcanti fra 1910 e 1931, e pubblicato nel 1934: «Per mantenere tutte le distinzioni il "formato locho" dovrebbe essere, direi, la "fantasia" stessa, già pervasa dall'accidente, che viene dalla forma vista». 03/09/25, 12:23 «Occorrono troppe vite per farne una». Nell'ultimo "canone" dedicato alla formazione, alle biblioteche musicali e ai sistemi di informazione bibliografico-musicali italiani, i saggi di Attilio Mauro Caproni (Il sistema della formazione dei bibliotecari musicali in Italia), Alessandra Chiarelli (Biblioteche pubbliche e fondi musicali), Claudia Parmeggiani (I servizi per la musica nel Servizio bibliotecario nazionale), Federica Riva, Anno 2000: la catalogazione dei manoscritti musicali in Italia e un nuovo confronto con il Répertoire international des sources musicales (RISM) e, infine, Massimo Gentili Tedeschi, Il lavoro dell'Ufficio Ricerca fondi musicali di Milano, analizzano con perfetta sintesi e scientificità i vari temi. In conclusione, si tratta di un volume ben costruito, ricco di informazioni e di facile utilizzo, che si propone come eccellente strumento di riflessione e consultazione sullo stato della biblioteconomia musicale in Italia per offrire risposte esaurienti a tutti gli utenti e agli studiosi. Un utile sforzo compiuto dal gruppo IAML-Italia e dalla sua coordinatrice Agostina Zecca Laterza.

Entre los enfoques sobre la modernidad hispánica que han cobrado reciente vitalidad se encuentra, indudablemente, el campo de estudios concerniente a las publicaciones periódicas, quizás porque es una zona menos trillada en los estudios académicos tradicionales sobre la literatura y la cultura, centrados en las figuras de autores y las obras concretadas en forma de libros. O quizás porque las distintas formas de escritura y legibilidad propiciadas por las nuevas tecnologías de la comunicación han llevado a indagar en los orígenes y la genealogía de esos formatos alternativos al libro. La cuestión es que las revistas culturales de los siglos XIX y XX resultan un objeto más que propicio para tomar como eje de investigaciones que se preocupen por los cambios históricos en las formas de percepción de la cultura letrada, la circulación de ideas o la constitución de estéticas modernas y de las imágenes de artista / escritor asociadas con ellas. L’articolo analizza un romanzo di Carlo Coccioli, La notte di ballo, conservato presso la Biblioteca Marucelliana di Firenze. Completato nel 1949, il testo è ancora inedito in Italia, sebbene sia stato pubblicato in francese da Flammarion. L’analisi, condotta a livello sia testuale che contestuale, si avvale del materiale conservato nel Fondo Coccioli della Marucelliana e di due carteggi pressoché coevi alla riscrittura del romanzo: l’uno con Giulio Einaudi, l’altro con Curzio Malaparte. Questi permettono di far luce sulla poetica di Coccioli e sulla sua traiettoria di outsider nel panorama letterario del Novecento. La notte di ballo rappresenta infatti un unicum nell’Italia neoverista: un romanzo che racconta il ritorno a casa e alla comunità di un partigiano ed ex-frate tormentato tanto nella fede quanto nella sessualità, con riferimenti a un’angelologia, che lo discostano dalle narrazioni tradizionali della Resistenza. Al tempo stesso, si tratta di un dattiloscritto preparato per la traduzione francese e corredato di note a margine, che rivela i primi segnali del translinguismo dell’autore.

This article examines the factors that enabled French merchants to enter the Spanish Indies markets during the 1620s, particularly in the period betwen the Peace of Monzón (1627) and the outbreak of the Franco-Spanish War (1635). It highlights how the French nation of Seville received unprecedented support from the Crown to develop their marginal enterprises in the Carrera de Indias. Royal patronage played a significant role in integrating-or exluding-wealthy merchant communities from the Spanish Atlantic trading system, therby expanding their networks for direct exchanges with the Americas. The study reconstructs French commercial connections within the Spanish Atlantic trade, contextualized alongside Flemish and Italian networks already operating in New Spain. These three nations dominated much of the cargo legally shipped to and from the viceroyalty in the 1620s and 1630s. The analysis details French business interactions with "native" and "foreign" merchants, their resilience following the economic reprisal of 1635, and observations on the reconfiguration of foreign trading networks along the New Spain axis during the Spanish Empire's economic and political crises of the 1640s.

Volem aprofitar l'oportunitat que ens ofereix la jornada divulgativa organitzada pel Centre d'Estudis del Bages, l'Arxiu Comarcal i l'Associació Catalana de Documentació Històrica Patrimonial i Familiar per a donar a conèixer la tasca endegada entre els anys 1998 i 1999 a l'arxiu familiar i patrimonial de la farmàcia i casa Sala del Mercat, a la vila de Cardona, arran la commemoració dels dos cents cinquanta anys d'existència, celebrada l'any 2001.

The Chrudim printing house was one of the most important producers of broadside ballad sheets in the 19th century. However, at the time of the printers Josef Jan Košina and his wife Františka, a significant part of the production did not contain information about printing in Chrudim. To hide the origin of broadside ballad sheets, the Chrudim printing house would at times falsify the place of printing. This study elucidates how to identify false imprints of broadside ballad sheets by comparing woodcuts and typographic decoration. Based on the collection of Moravian Library in Brno, the study shows that false imprints of broadside ballad sheets represent almost a third of the printing production in the Chrudim printing house. This finding poses a problem for research into the printing production of broadside ballad sheets in the first half of the 19th century because the use of the false imprints and missing information can greatly distort the extent of the entire production. This study also provides an analysis of the most commonly used false locations as well as the types of broadside ballad sheets produced by the Chrudim printing house. Last but not least, it seeks to outline the main reasons for the use of false imprints of broadside ballad sheets.

Osmanlı dünyasında kitap ve okuma kültürü, yalnızca elit kesime özgü bir faaliyet olmaktan öte, farklı toplumsal katmanlara yayılan bir pratikti. Bu panel, kitap üretimi, dolaşımı ve okunma biçimleri üzerine yapılan güncel araştırmalardan hareketle, Osmanlı'da kitap ve okuma kültürünün geçirdiği dönüşümleri çeşitli örnekler üzerinden değerlendirecektir. Panelde, Osmanlı kitapseverleri için yalnızca bir ticaret alanı değil, entelektüel etkileşimlerin de merkezi olmuş İstanbul Sahhaflar Çarşısı'nın dönüşümü; metinlerin dolaşımının fiziksel kitaplarla sınırlı kalmayıp şiirlerin, kasidelerin ve edebî eserlerin farklı coğrafyalara taşınarak yeni anlamlar kazandığı süreçler; baskı teknolojisinin Osmanlı başkentine gelişi, taş baskı kitapların yaygınlaşması ve yeni okur kitlelerine ulaşması ve baskı kitapların yaygınlaşmasına rağmen yazma eser okuma kültürünün nasıl varlığını sürdürdüğü gibi konular ele alınacaktır.

Il contributo mira a evidenziare alcuni punti di contatto fra gli anni di Sabina Magrini alla Biblioteca Palatina di Parma (2012-2015) e il progetto ‘ORIGO: Alle origini delle Biblioteca Palatina di Parma: il mercato librario toscano e italiano nella prima metà del XIX secolo e la costituzione della Biblioteca Palatina  di  Lucca’.  In  particolare,  sono  presentate  le  carte  ritrovate  di  Pietro  Pera,  bibliotecario personale  di  Carlo  Ludovico  di  Borbone  a  Lucca,  allo  scopo  di  proporre  alcune  riflessioni  sulla formazione di quello che è oggi il Fondo Palatino della Biblioteca Palatina di Parma. In chiusura, è sinteticamente presentato il progetto dottorale dell’autrice, dedicato agli incunaboli Palatini.

In the autumn of 1985 I conceived the idea to engrave the twelve animals of the Chinese Year. The animal form lends itself well to the medium of burin engraving on copper, where the natural action of the arm muscles, as it encounters the resistance of the copper, generates the elastic tension and beauty of the curvilinear engraved line. The repeated action of shorter strokes with the burin also gives rise to animal textures like fur and feathers.

Few works in medical history met with the success of Pietro Andrea Mattioli's Discorsi. The text, especially in its Latin and illustrated translations (1554 onwards), became the bible on which generations of botanists and physicians were trained for almost three centuries, and was by far the most read medical text of the Renaissance, relegating Vesalius's Fabrica to the level of a precious commodity. Yet, for all its fame, the early editions of Mattioli's work have attracted remarkably little attention. Discorsi ("discourses, commentaries") is the form chosen by Mattioli to expand upon Dioscorides' Materia Medica, as it allows a freer inclusion of new information gathered by Mattioli himself during his medical practice in Gorizia between 1541 and 1544. Published for the first time in Venice in 1544, the work was then substantially expanded in 1548-more than doubling in size-incorporating a new section on poisons, along with new plants and diseases, gardening practices, and reports from travellers to the East and West Indies. My rediscovery of the original notes leading to the second edition-which include corrections, additions, pentimenti, methods of drug preparation, and techniques for seed conservation, often resulting in the writing of entirely new sections (amounting to up to 250 additional pages)-represents an invaluable document for tracing not only Mattioli's own experience, but also the growing interest of physicians in specific aspects of medicinal therapy and how to teach them to students. Aiming to establish the work as an official textbook, Mattioli added rubrics containing criticisms of Fuchs, Manardi, Leoniceno, and Ruell, making it also a valuable source for studying the evolution of medical doctrine in the first half of the sixteenth century.

This article examines several libraries assembled by the Society of Jesus in their college and missions in Northern Mexico (in the present-day Mexican State of Chihuahua), where Jesuits have been a constant presence from the seventeenth century, interrupted only temporarily by the Society’s suppression. All their bibliographic collections were transferred, dispersed, or looted after the general expulsion of 1767. Archival materials preserved in repositories such as the Archivo General de la Nación in Mexico City, however, enable a reconstruction of these libraries. This essay argues that these collections constituted a sort of “cultural oasis” (Michael Mathes). They provided arsenals of knowledge for missionaries in distant places with harsh living conditions and show the strong and lasting bond between Jesuits and print culture even in the most remote and adverse of conditions.

This paper stemms from two correlated projects, namely "Tibetan Book Evolution and Technology" and "Transforming Technologies and Buddhist Book Culture: The Introduction of Printing and Digital Text Reproduction in Tibetan Societies", both based at the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit (University of Cambridge), which were carried out between 2010 and 2015. This paper focuses on the illustrations of Mi la ras pa (1040-1123) found in Mang yul Gung thang xylographs printed in the 16th century. This study analyses 16 representations of Mi la ras pa produced in four printing houses of the kindgom between 1540-1541 and 1581, subdividing them into two stylistic types. Illustrations have been investigated individually and comparatively through the analysis of some recurring elements.

After receiving his doctorate in medicine from Leiden University, Galenus Abrahamsz worked as a physician in Amsterdam. There he also served as a teacher (unpaid minister) for the Mennonite congregation in the still existing Singel church. His interest in alchemy, which he shared with his fellow townsman Johann Rudolph Glauber, brought him into contact with renowned scholars such as Johann Joachim Becher and Franciscus Mercurius van Helmont. Becher kept a diary of his contacts in Amsterdam, which shows that his interactions with Galenus Abrahamsz were very intensive. Galenus had spiritual motives for practicing alchemy, which he shared with chemists who were part of the Hartlib circle.

We Hampshire folk are proud of our Hampshire worthies, but I wonder how often we stop to ask ourselves what they really did for our county apart from being born or residing here. You could certainly ask that question about Charlotte Yonge, to whose biographers her county is more of a background against which her life was played out, rather than a sphere of activity in which she was one of many characters. To start by setting her in context; Charlotte Yonge was a famous and successful authoress of the 19th century. Her best-selling work, which brought her worldwide fame and fortune, was The Heir of Redclyffe. It appealed to many different sectors of Victorian society: soldiers, undergraduates, poets and artists, and in 1854 she made £1000 from the sales of the Heir. But this was only one of well over a hundred books which she published in her lifetime, which were read in America and the Antipodes, in Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Russia, as well as the girls' magazine, the Monthly Packet. Mary Sumner, founder of the Mothers' Union, summed it up well when she wrote to Christabel Coleridge with her recollections of Miss Yonge "She was at the zenith of her celebrity as a novelist; people crowded to be introduced to her; she was the central attraction in every party at which she appeared"(Coleridge p 288).
