Las  instituciones  de  salud  en  Colombia,  también  han  sido  influenciadas  por  los  nuevos  esquemas flexibles de trabajo, lo cual sin duda genera efectos colaterales en el bienestar laboral de los trabajadores En la presente investigación se indagó por las percepciones que tienen los médicos y enfermeras del entorno laboral y el impacto psicosocial percibido en la calidad de vida laboral y el bienestar psicológico. Esto, a partir de instrumentos como la  encuesta  y  los  grupos  focales.  Se  encontró  que  algunas  variables  de  calidad  de  vida  laboral fueron bien evaluadas, mientras que otras relacionadas con los efectos colaterales al  trabajo,  dejan  conclusiones  preocupantes  frente  al  futuro  de  los  profesionales  de  la  salud y el correspondiente impacto en la atención de los usuarios.

Health  institutions  in  Colombia  have  also  been  influenced  by  the  new  flexible  work  schemes,  which  certainly  generates  side  effects  in  the  labor  welfare  of  workers.  This  research  is  about  insights  from  doctors  and  nurses  around  working  environment  and  perceived  psychosocial  impact  on  the  quality  of  working  life  and  psychological  wellbeing  of  workers  in  Urabá.  This  impact  is  measured  from  surveys  and  focus  groups.  The research found that some variables about quality of life were well evaluated whereas some others, related with side effects at work let some concerning conclusions about the working future of health professionals and the consequent impact in the attention for the healthcare users.

El estudiante evaluará los sistemas de seguridad y salud en el trabajo, mediante el uso de procedimientos normativos y herramientas metodológicas para la elaboración de propuestas de prevención, control y mitigación de riesgos laborales. Competencia a la que contribuye la asignatura Evaluar sistemas de calidad, ambiental, seguridad y salud en el trabajo, mediante el uso de procedimientos para la elaboración de propuestas de prevención, control y mitigación de impactos y riesgos ambientales y/o laborales.

descriptivo y correlacional, su diseño es no experimental y transversal. Para el efecto, se aplicaron dos instrumentos debidamente confiables y válidos a una muestra de 435 profesionales de diferentes especialidades que laboran en organizaciones públicas y privadas de Lima y el interior del Perú y que cursaban estudios de postgrado en diversas universidades. Los resultados obtenidos indican, que existe evidencia estadística significativa y positiva de asociación entre calidad de vida laboral y comportamiento de ciudadanía organizacional. Un análisis de dichas variables para determinar las diferencias al intervenir variables sociodemográficas y organizacionales, arrojó que existen diferencias de opinión respecto de la calidad de vida laboral entre los empleados que pertenecen a organizaciones públicas de aquellos empleados de organizaciones privadas; sin embargo, no se encontró diferencias de opinión sobre el comportamiento de ciudadanía organizacional.

Resumo: As pessoas veem priorizando, cada dia mais, a qualidade de vida nos mais diversos locais de trabalho. A qualidade de vida no trabalho (QVT) pode ser analisada a partir de alguns indicadores e fatores que ajudam a avaliar o ambiente de trabalho e as pessoas que nele atuam. Além disso, as características pessoais também interferem no nível de percepção de QVT. Neste contexto, o presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a inteligência emocional (IE) e os fatores de Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho de docentes de instituições federais de ensino superior do Brasil. Os dados foram coletados através de um questionário composto de escalas para identificar algumas variáveis de diferenças individuais e os fatores de QVT. Este estudo avalia a relação entre sentido do trabalho e a orientação para o trabalho de professores universitários de Minas Gerais e do Quebec e correlaciona estes resultados com questões de Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho. A amostra foi constituída por 274 professores de Minas Gerais e 252 professores do Quebec. Os dados foram coletados através de um questionário online enviado, para 3 universidades públicas de Minas Gerais e 3 universidades do Quebec, no primeiro semestre de 2013. Foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre as médias de percepção dos dois grupos de professores para meu trabalho é um emprego e meu trabalho é um carreira. Com relação ao sentido do trabalho e sentido no trabalho observou-se que estes dois indicadores de qualidade de vida no trabalho estão diretamente relacionados com a orientação para a vocação profissional dos professores que participaram da pesquisa. Estes resultados podem orientar os gestores universitários a conduzirem ações que melhorem as condições do ambiente físico de trabalho e as relações de trabalho, pois são estes aspectos que ajudam a melhorar a qualidade de vida no trabalho e a dar mais sentido ao trabalho como um todo. O crescimento do número de alunos e o aumento da ênfase na pesquisa, atrelados a pressão econômica que afeta o nível de demanda de trabalho para professores e outros membros da faculdade afetam o ambiente e vida dos profissionais do ensino. Todas essas mudanças afetam negativamente a saúde física e mental no domínio acadêmico. Gillespie, Walsh, Winefields, Dua e Stough (2001) afirmam que os funcionários das universidades desempenham um papel vital na criação e desenvolvimento do conhecimento e da inovação, bem como na educação e formação de toda a sociedade. Assim, é importante que os gestores encontrem maneiras de proteger os professores e os outros membros da equipe dos níveis crescentes de estresse, devido às exigências cada vez maiores. Como exemplo, podemos destacar a enorme demanda para a publicação em periódicos de alta qualidade para apoiar a carreira do profissional e manter os programas de pós-graduação. Por conseguinte, os professores precisam assumir atividades técnicas, a fim de apresentar projetos de pesquisa, realizar pesquisas e elaborar relatórios para obter material adequado para publicar. Sobre este assunto, muitos estudos focam o papel "Publicar ou perecer" e esse papel tem aumentado o estresse acadêmico para professores e pesquisadores e tem com isso afetado a qualidade de vida no trabalho. É porque, para publicar os professores precisam trabalhar mais horas e se dedicar às suas próprias pesquisas e as pesquisas de seus alunos de mestrado, doutorado e pós-doutoramento. Todas essas pressões levam o estresse relacionados ao trabalho, desequilíbrio entre vida e trabalho, tensão mental, física e emocional, e pode causar diferentes problemas de saúde e até mesmo de relacionamento no ambiente de trabalho. Em outras palavras, podemos dizer que a QVT para os acadêmicos tem sido drasticamente afetada pelas exigências do trabalho, ou mais precisamente pelas demandas de publicação. Para ajudar a enfrentar esta realidade, os gestores das universidades devem buscar alternativas para oferecer um ambiente de trabalho saudável e estimulante. O que pode ser entendido como uma melhoria na qualidade de vida dos profissionais. Ketchum e Trist (1992) definiram "qualidade da vida no trabalho" como o estado geral de bem-estar no local de trabalho. Essa qualidade pode ser avaliada por diversos indicadores tais como bem-estar psicológico, sofrimento psicológico, comprometimento organizacional e equilíbrio trabalho-vida ). E, por fatores como objetivo claro de trabalho, autonomia, oportunidades de desenvolvimento profissional, reconhecimento, boas relações com colegas e superiores, percepção de retidão moral no trabalho e nas relações de trabalho, segurança no emprego e carga de trabalho adequada (Vilas Boas & Morin, 2014). Adicionalmente, torna-se relevante estudar a orientação profissional dos professores universitários para ajudar a direcionar as ações de qualidade de vida nestas instituições. No entanto, pouco se sabe sobre a orientação profissional nas faculdades ou universidades. Portanto, esse trabalho concentra-se na qualidade de vida no trabalho em universidades públicas no Brasil e no Canadá. Assim, o objetivo é analisar a percepção dos professores universitários sobre a orientação destes profissionais frente ao trabalho acadêmico e determinar as principais diferenças em relação a orientação profissional nesses dois países. O termo "Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho" foi introduzido pela primeira vez em uma conferência internacional realizada em Arden House em 1972, por Louis Davis. As comunicações que foram apresentadas, em seguida, foram publicadas em dois volumes . Esta conferência literalmente lançou todo um campo de pesquisa em desenho do trabalho conhecido como Projeto de Sistemas Sócio Técnico (STSD). QVT é agora um conceito complexo, que combina dois aspectos principais: os fatores -determinantes da QVT e os indicadores -componentes de QVT. Boisvert (1977) publicou uma análise da qualidade de vida no trabalho com 15 dimensões de QVT: controle ou autonomia no trabalho, capacidade de exercer um juízo, importância das decisões, oportunidades de aprendizagem, uso de habilidades, controle sobre os critérios de desempenho, desafios apresentados no trabalho, variedade de tarefas, interação com os colegas, reconhecimento, orgulho de realização, contribuição do trabalho para os objetivos da organização, percepção de um futuro desejável e participação na tomada de decisões. Esta lista apresenta diferentes dimensões que são ou fatores, como a interação com os colegas, ou indicadores, como o orgulho da realização. publicou uma medida desenvolvida através do método de Delphi em uma amostra representativa de 70 empregados. Foram identificados seis critérios com este método: o respeito e a confiança dos gerentes com funcionários, variedade de tarefas, desafios no trabalho, promoções justas, equilíbrio entre vida profissional e auto-estima. Mais uma vez, nesta lista, existem fatores de QVT, como a variedade de tarefas e indicadores de QVT, como equilíbrio entre vida profissional e auto-estima. Mais recentemente, Royuela, Lopez-Tamayo e Surinach (2008) identificaram 10 dimensões que descrevem QVT: valor intrínseco do trabalho, desenvolvimento de competências e habilidades para a carreira, igualdade de gênero, saúde e segurança, inclusão e acesso ao mercado de trabalho, organização do trabalho e equilíbrio trabalho-vida privada, diálogo social e envolvimento dos funcionários, diversidade e não discriminação, e desempenho global. Aqui, também há fatores como o desenvolvimento de competências e habilidades e indicadores como o valor intrínseco do trabalho. Vale ressaltar que esse artigo trata da percepção dos docentes do Quebec e de Minas Gerais sobre a orientação frente ao trabalho e o sentido do trabalho nas universidades brasileiras e canadenses, a fim de correlacionar estas variáveis com a QVT.

In this context, the 5th International Loneliness Symposium, organized under the leadership of Üsküdar University on December 16, 2023, was held with the central theme of “Loneliness at Work.” This book presents a selection of papers delivered at the symposium, compiled into academic articles and essays. It includes interdisciplinary studies that explore the concept of loneliness across various professions, cultural contexts, and social processes. In contemporary societies, the phenomenon of loneliness—frequently experienced by individuals within family life and social environments—has increasingly become a common issue in professional settings as well. Especially in the workplace, as competitiveness, individualism, and narcissistic tendencies contribute to the construction of a new self-structure, the sense of loneliness deepens and exerts a stronger influence on individuals. In addition, the rapid developments in communication networks accelerated by globalization, along with the demanding conditions of modern urban life, have intensified the feeling of workplace loneliness. Öz
Sanayi Devrimi’yle birlikte fordist üretim şekli otomasyon yapılar üzerinden iş yaşamının işleyişini örgütlerken, refah devleti uygulamalarının kurumsallaştığı dönem boyunca devlet mekanizması ekonomik yapıya müdahil olarak düzenleyici görev üstlenmiştir. 1970’li yılların başında yaşanan petrol krizi, Keynesyen refah devletinin sorgulanmasını beraberinde getirmiştir. Bu süreçte kapitalist sistemin içerisine girdiği sosyo-ekonomik ve politik bunalım yeni sermaye birikim ve örgütlenme biçimleriyle aşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda ‘yeni kapitalizm’, enformasyon teknolojilerinde yaşanan hızlı gelişim sürecine paralel olarak sermayenin daha esnek yapıda ulus devlet sınırları dışına taşındığı bir dönemi nitelemektedir. Sermayenin esnek birikim süreci aynı zamanda iş yaşamının dinamikleri içerisinde çalışmanın anlamını ve koşullarını da yapısal olarak dönüştürmüştür. Fordist üretim sürecindeki ücretli çalışma, iş ve gelir güvencesi bu dönemde yerini kısa vadeli iş yaşamı, esnek çalışma saatleri ve kurumsallaşmış bir risk kültürüne bırakmıştır. Yeni kapitalizme ait iş yaşamının kültürel ethos’unu oluşturan bu yapıların arkasında üretim kavramının değişen anlamı ve kimlikle kopan ilişkisi bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, içinde yaşadığımız yeni kapitalist dönemde iş yaşamının sosyo-ekonomik dinamikleri ve kültürel ethosu temelinde ortaya çıkan performans kültü alana ait kuramsal paradigma üzerinden irdelenmektedir.

Abstract
As the Fordist mode of production organized the functioning of working life through automation structures with the Industrial Revolution, the state mechanism assumed a regulatory role by intervening in the economic structure during the period of institutionalization of welfare state practices. The oil crisis of the early 1970s led to the questioning of the Keynesian welfare state. In this process, the socio-economic and political crisis of the capitalist system was overcome through new forms of capital accumulation and organization. In this context, 'new capitalism' characterizes a period in which capital moves beyond the limits of nation states in a more flexible structure in parallel with the rapid development process in information technologies. Flexible accumulation process of the capital has also structurally transformed the meaning and conditions of work within the dynamics of working life. The paid work, job and income security of the Fordist production process has been replaced by a short-term working life, flexible working hours and an institutionalized risk culture. Behind these structures, which constitute the cultural ethos of the new capitalist working life, lies the changing meaning of the concept of production and its ruptured relationship with identity. In this study, the performance cult that emerged on the basis of the socio-economic dynamics and cultural ethos of working life in the new capitalist period we live in is analyzed through the theoretical paradigm of the field.

El bienestar y la productividad laboral son dos factores que se encuentran altamente integrados en el espacio de trabajo y en el desempeño de los empleados. La productividad laboral tiene directa relación con el grado de bienestar de los empleados, cuando los empleados se sienten motivados, apoyados y gozan de buena salud trabajan más y mejor. Los niveles más altos de bienestar subjetivo se han relacionado con un ambiente amigable en su trabajo. Los riesgos laborales en el trabajo pueden presentarse de diversas formas, entre ellas mantener posturas incómodas durante periodos prolongados puede derivar en problemas de salud a largo plazo. Un diagnóstico ergonómico temprano es en sí una herramienta de Autoevaluación que sirve para detectar el estado de la persona, es decir posturas estáticas y condiciones inadecuadas del área de trabajo pueden conducir al desgaste laboral y a la reducción de la productividad, pero aplicar medidas de prevención y técnicas adecuadas al realizar actividades laborales, además de entrenamiento produce efectos positivos.

This year's Yearbook, From Arts College to University, the twelfth edition, begins with an examination of the academicisation that has taken place over the past decade or so and that still continues within artistic education and research This trend is clearly apparent in the opening article, an updated subject overview compiled by the Swedish Research Council's Committee for Artistic Research under the leadership of its chair Catharina Dyrssen . Over the course of 2014, subject overviews have been drawn up for all the subject areas within the Swedish Research Council as the basis for the Government's Research Bill 2016 . Academicisation is also touched upon in the following two articles, which are the speeches (or parts thereof) by the two keynote speakers, Esa Kirkkopelto, professor at the University of the Arts Helsinki, and Francisca Schroeder, musician and researcher at Queen's University in Belfast, at last year's Symposium on Artistic Research at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås (Borås University) . The symposium had the same title as this year's Yearbook . We have thus followed up on our previously stated intention to have a clearer link between the Yearbook and the annual symposium . Next come reviews of two doctoral theses -one on literary composition, the first of its kind in Sweden, and one on photography: What is the Sound of the Poem? Este artículo presenta los avances en la comprensión de la influencia que tiene la educación mexicana sobre las percepciones de la población adulta referidas a sus condiciones de salud. El análisis se enmarca en el modelo conceptual de la OCDE para entender las conexiones entre la educación y los resultados sociales, no económicos. Se aprovechan los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición 2006 para construir un modelo logístico. Se comprobó la idea de que las personas tienden a sentirse más saludables a medida que tienen mayor escolaridad, independientemente de sus condiciones económicas, étnicas, y de ruralidad, edad y género. Asimismo, los resultados mostraron que la escolaridad es el factor con mayor influencia positiva sobre la percepción de sentirse saludable; por encima incluso de la situación económica de las personas.

En este documento encontrarás los pasos para realizar la identificación de peligros laborales, la evaluación y valoración de riesgos, y la determinación de sus controles bajo la metodología GTC 45. Pero antes de iniciar, recordemos que la gestión de peligros y riesgos es una obligación del empleador, de acuerdo con lo establecido en el Decreto 1072 de 2015. Creating employment and decent jobs for youth is a global challenge, which has been further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic which has hurt young people more than any other group. In this broader global context, this paper analyses quantitative and qualitative dimensions of youth employment in India from a gender lens. We find that there has been a significant reduction in labour force participation rate especially among young females in rural areas during 2012-19, which has somewhat improved in 2021-22. However, Labour force participation as well as work participation of youth is still lower than the 2011-12 level. What is more unfortunate is that the unemployment rate is increasing among youth, especially among highly educated youth and young women in urban areas. Moreover, the increasing proportion of youth with NEET (not in education, employment, and training) status (33%) is also a serious concern especially among young women who were overrepresented in this category in 2020-21. On further examination of activity status of young women with NEET status, we find that nearly 45% of such young women were involved in domestic duties in 2021-22. In the labour market, young workers were highly concentrated in self-employment activities and within such activities most young men were involved in their own account activities while most females were unpaid family workers in 2021-22. Over the years, the presence of youth in regular salaried jobs, service sector, organized sector, and formal jobs has improved. However, gains for young female workers in these categories are very small compared to gains for their male counterparts. We find that quality of regular salaried jobs has also deteriorated over the years as around 70% of youth workers had no written job contract, 56% were not entitled to paid leave, and 61% were not eligible for any social security benefits in 2021-22. These indicators clearly reveal that qualitative aspects of youth employment challenge are much more severe in India. Therefore, the paper argues for urgent policy interventions to ensure access to productive and decent jobs for all in India.

In 2011, the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Research and Development program, Sustainable and Healthy Communities, coined the term TRIO (Total Resources Impact Outcome) to represent approaches that fully incorporate all three pillars of community sustainability-environmental, economic and social. This holistic approach to sustainability is embodied in the Human Well-Being Index (HWBI) comprised of sub-indices representing environmental well-being, economic well-being and societal well-being (which includes basic human needs and subjective well-being). The development of the HWBI is described in this manuscript along with its application at national, state and county spatial scales. In addition, application at even smaller spatial scales (communities, neighborhoods, demographic and economic sub-groups, and even individuals) is discussed. The potential utility of HWBI for comparing the intended and unintended consequences of alternative decisions is described.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a human well-being index (HWBI) that assesses the over-all well-being of its population at the county level. The HWBI contains eight domains representing social, economic and environmental well-being. These domains include 25 indicators comprised of 80 metrics and 22 social, economic and environmental services. The application of the HWBI has been made for the nation as a whole at the county level and two alternative applications have been made to represent key populations within the overall US population-Native Americans and children. A number of advances have been made to estimate the values of metrics for counties where no data is available and one such estimator-MERLIN-is discussed. Finally, efforts to make the index into an interactive web site are described.

The ever increasing competition among organizations has led them looking for ways to gain success. Organizational learning and quality of working life are considered as the basic tools for gaining organizational competitive advantages. This study aimed to determine the effect of quality of working life on organizational learning among nurses working in the teaching hospitals affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2016. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study. A sample size of 185 nurses was selected through randomized stratified sampling. The required data were collected using two questionnaires assessing organizational learning and quality of working life. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS23 and using independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression. Organizational learning and quality of working life were at moderate level in the studied nurses. Moreover, there was a significant positive correlation between organizational learning and quality of working life (r=0.66, P<0.001). Also, the results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that "participation in decision-making","security","career advancements", and "nurses' motivation for doing work and tasks" had significant and positive effects on organizational learning (P<0.05). According to the results, hospital managers can increase nurses' quality of working life and accordingly, organizational learning through involving nurses in the related decision-making processes and providing opportunities for their creativity, learning and experiencing in line of their career advancement.

The rapid evolution of digital health has redefined the roles of healthcare providers, particularly nurses, allied health professionals, and interprofessional teams. As digital tools such as telehealth platforms, mobile applications, wearable devices, and electronic health records become embedded in clinical practice, these professionals are increasingly responsible not only for direct care but also for the integration, monitoring, and ethical oversight of these technologies. Their proximity to patients and their role in care coordination positions them uniquely to facilitate the adoption of patient-centered digital health interventions. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the indispensable role of digital health while simultaneously revealing ethical and logistical challenges, including data privacy concerns, misinformation, and the erosion of traditional provider-patient trust. Nurses and allied professionals must be equipped to address these challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration, robust patient education, and involvement in digital health governance. This article explores the clinical, ethical, and educational implications of digital health for nursing and allied health professionals and proposes a framework for their central role in leading this transformation.

Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) is a cornerstone of empirical research, particularly within the biomedical and clinical sciences, where data accuracy and interpretability have direct implications for patient outcomes and evidence-based practice. Among the suite of EDA tools, histograms and boxplots are indispensable for evaluating data quality, assessing normality, identifying outliers, and comparing groups. Histograms offer visual insight into the shape, skewness, and kurtosis of a dataset, thereby supporting the assumptions required for parametric analyses like ANOVA and regression. They also allow for early detection of erroneous or extreme values that could compromise statistical validity. Boxplots, in contrast, efficiently summarize distributions through medians, quartiles, and ranges, providing a comparative lens for group-based differences and variability.
In clinical research, these tools do more than prepare data for statistical modeling; they offer an interpretive bridge between raw numbers and clinical decision-making. Outliers, once identified, must be evaluated not only for statistical distortion but also for clinical relevance. The choice to include or exclude such values can significantly influence therapeutic guidelines or intervention protocols. Similarly, boxplots facilitate the understanding of treatment consistency across different modalities or groups, helping practitioners to identify the most stable and effective options.
This paper emphasizes that mastery of histograms and boxplots is essential not only for researchers but also for all interprofessional healthcare team members. These tools empower clinicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to critically appraise research findings, integrate evidence into practice, and contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary care. Rooted in humanistic psychology, nursing theory, and interpersonal communication science, therapeutic communication has demonstrated benefits in improving diagnostic accuracy, enhancing treatment adherence, increasing patient satisfaction, and reducing provider burnout and malpractice risk. Its application extends across disciplines—medicine, nursing, pharmacy, social work, psychology—and healthcare settings, from primary care to intensive care, and from acute episodes to chronic disease management.
This paper explores the multifaceted functions of therapeutic communication, emphasizing its capacity to humanize care, personalize interactions, and foster mutual understanding. It also highlights its systemic impact through enhanced interprofessional collaboration. Each member of the healthcare team—physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, and social workers—engages with patients at different junctures, and when unified by shared therapeutic communication principles, the collective result is a coherent, patient-centered model of care.
Furthermore, this discussion underscores the role of structured communication frameworks such as SBAR and TeamSTEPPS, and examines the ways in which therapeutic communication facilitates holistic patient monitoring using the biopsychosocial model. Special considerations for complex contexts such as psychosis, agitation, and communication disabilities are also analyzed. Ultimately, therapeutic communication emerges as both a clinical technique and an ethical imperative in modern, collaborative healthcare practice.

Since independence in 1971, Bangladesh has relied on foreign aid as its major source of external finance. According to the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh (2003, 2012), from 1971 to 2011 over US$54.5 billion in foreign aid has been provided to Bangladesh. Organizational culture represents the shared beliefs, values, assumptions, and norms that govern behavior within institutions. In the healthcare context, understanding and shaping organizational culture has become essential to enhancing staff satisfaction, ensuring quality care, and fostering interprofessional collaboration. This paper examines the theoretical underpinnings and empirical applications of organizational culture, with a focus on the Competing Values Framework (CVF) and the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI). The four culture types—clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy—are analyzed in relation to healthcare performance, innovation, and staff retention. Despite its utility, the CVF is not without limitations, as studies indicate that culture does not always predict institutional behaviors. The paper discusses how culture influences hospital accreditation, practice redesign, job satisfaction, and nurse-practitioner dynamics, and highlights the critical role of leadership in promoting adaptive, collaborative, and innovative organizational climates. Ultimately, a nuanced and context-sensitive application of cultural frameworks is necessary to optimize patient outcomes, support professional development, and enhance systemic resilience in healthcare.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a patient-centered, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. Initially developed by William R. Miller in the context of substance use disorders, MI has expanded into numerous fields of physical and mental healthcare due to its adaptability and effectiveness. This article offers an advanced exploration of the function of MI, including its psychological underpinnings, communication techniques, and application across stages of behavioral change. Furthermore, the paper reviews the predominant theoretical models—Technical, Relational, and Conflict Resolution hypotheses—that attempt to explain MI’s mechanism of action. The clinical significance of MI is analyzed through its capacity to elicit change talk, foster autonomy, and create a compassionate, collaborative therapeutic environment. Additionally, the interprofessional utility of MI is discussed, demonstrating how its principles can be effectively adopted by all members of the healthcare team. While the efficacy of MI is well-supported, challenges persist in elucidating its core mechanisms and optimizing its deployment across diverse clinical contexts. This article concludes by emphasizing the imperative for ongoing empirical research and broader interdisciplinary training in MI to harness its full transformative potential.

Quality of Life (QoL) is a multifaceted and context-dependent construct that attempts to capture the subjective and objective experiences of individuals within the broader context of their culture, values, health status, and life circumstances. Unlike more quantifiable economic or biomedical measures, QoL remains inherently elusive and contested in both academic and clinical discourse due to its complex and individualized nature. While some frameworks aim to compartmentalize QoL into measurable domains—such as health, environment, autonomy, and social relationships—others argue for a more holistic and patient-centered understanding. QoL is especially significant in healthcare, particularly in fields such as palliative medicine, geriatrics, and chronic disease management, where therapeutic objectives often shift from cure to comfort. Despite efforts to develop standardized QoL indices, the concept resists universal operationalization and demands a personalized, culturally competent approach. Furthermore, interdisciplinary healthcare teams play a pivotal role in addressing and enhancing QoL by adopting holistic, empathetic, and collaborative practices. This paper examines the definitional challenges, issues of concern, and clinical applications of QoL, while emphasizing the necessity of interprofessional integration and patient autonomy in optimizing well-being.

The police work environment has different characteristics from other institutions, as a result, work-life balance is a challenge for police officers in carrying out their service duties to the community. Based on this background, this study aims to review previous studies that discuss the main factors and impacts related to work-life balance for police officers.

Background: Nurses as the largest group of health care providers should enjoy a satisfactory quality of working life to be able to provide quality care to their patients. Therefore, attention should be paid to the nurses' working life. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the quality of nurses' working life in Kashans' hospitals during 2012. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 200 nurses during 2012. The data-gathering instrument consisted of two parts. The first part consisted of questions on demographic information and the second part was the Walton's quality of work life questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software. For statistical analysis T test and one way ANOVA were used. The results of the study showed that 60% of nurses reported that they had moderate level of quality of working life while 37.1% and 2% had undesirable and good quality of working life, respectively. Nurses with associate degrees reported a better quality of working life than others. A significant relationship was found between variables such as education level, work experience, and type of hospital with quality of working life score (P < 0.05). No significant differences were observed between quality of working life score of nurses with employment status (P = 0.061), salary (P = 0.052), age, gender and marital status (P > 0.05). Conclusions: Nurses' quality of work life was at the moderate level. As quality of work life has an important impact on attracting and retaining employees, it is necessary to pay more attention to the nurses' quality of work life and its affecting factors.

Businesses are getting better, bigger, more integrated and more complex in this era. The recognition of the influence and importance of quality of work life can be beneficial to employees and employers in a business. If an employee’s expectation are met, they have a clear and concise perception toward their work contributing to long-term career. The principle of this study is to demonstrate the influence of quality of work life, expectations towards work and perception of work on commitment to long-term career on the employees in the Gauteng province of South Africa. A quantitative research design was utilized and a sample of 250 employees in managerial and non-managerial employees was used. The study uses smart PLS to do data analysis. The outcomes of this study showed the acceptance of all the hypotheses that there is a significant influence of quality of work life, expectations towards work and perception of work life on commitment to long-term career. 

This study examines the varying impact of personality traits and work environment conditions on employee attitudes. Supporters of the significance of personality traits argue that inherent characteristics such as positive affectivity, trait-based needs, and locus of control have a substantial effect on job satisfaction. Conversely, proponents of work environment conditions stress the importance of physical, psychological, and social elements of the workplace in influencing employee outlooks. Acknowledging the interplay between these aspects, the study recognizes that personalities serve as a filter through which individuals view their work, with even positive personalities facing challenges in adverse settings. Conversely, nurturing work environments can instill positivity, even among individuals less naturally predisposed to optimism.  The study concludes that while both personality traits and work environment conditions undoubtedly shape employee attitudes, the most favorable outcome is achieved by aligning individual personalities with supportive work environments, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship for both employees and organizations.

La problemática de la pobreza ha constituido una agenda permanente de trabajo en algunos países, especialmente en aquellos con presencia de grupos y comunidades cuyos ingresos no les permiten resolver las carencias elementales de sobrevivencia, como lo es el alimento. A esta condición se le denomina pobreza extrema, donde ser pobre significa vivir con uno o dos dólares diarios. De acuerdo con el último informe sobre Desarrollo Humano de las Naciones Unidas, mil 300 millones de personas viven en el mundo con apenas un dólar diario. Las mediciones de la pobreza se establecen a través de diversos indicadores, y en especial se utiliza el ingreso per cápita de las personas. Sin embargo, las investigaciones y estudios en torno al problema establecen que la medición del ingreso-gasto no es un indicador suficiente para conocer la realidad socioeconómica de las familias, para lo cual debemos agregar el nivel educativo en los hogares, acceso a servicios de salud, calidad de la vivienda, seguridad social y capital humano. Si hablamos de un ingreso de uno o dos dólares diarios no se necesitan más indicadores pues la realidad es de suyo evidente. Los tipos de pobreza más conocidos son tres: la alimentaria o extrema existe cuando el ingreso no es suficiente para procurar los alimentos; la de capacidades cuando los ingresos no permiten el acceso a servicios de salud, educación, transporte y vivienda; y la patrimonial, cuando se carece de lo necesario para poseer una vivienda, transporte y vestido. Cualquiera de estas tres mediciones habla de pobreza, pero los límites entre una y otra son tan frágiles que las diferencias son fáciles de cruzar. Porque cuando el ingreso per cápita de una persona es de mil 624 pesos en el Área Metropolitana y mil 086 en la Rural, y considerando que es el único ingreso de una familia ¿cómo pensar que atenderán la educación de sus hijos a nivel medio superior y superior? Lo que dicen los pobres de Nuevo León, estudio que aborda la opinión que tienen ellos mismos sobre su situación, se ubicó en zonas de pobreza con entrevistas a 439 habitantes del Área Metropolitana y 378 del Área Rural. Los objetivos consistieron en conocer la opinión de los pobres respecto a sus condiciones sociales, analizar la falta de oportunidades en el desarrollo de los hogares y medir los aspectos cualitativos de la pobreza. Luego del análisis de resultados, encontramos que de acuerdo con los entrevistados/as, mayores de 18 años, las causas de la pobreza se atribuyen en un 29.5 por ciento al destino, en un 30.7 a factores externos como el gobierno, la sociedad y las instituciones, y en un 36 a que no se ayudan entre ellos o no trabajan lo suficiente. De acuerdo con el Banco Mundial (2006) ser pobre significa estar hambriento, significa no tener donde refugiarse, significa estar enfermo y no tener los recursos para ir a ver al doctor, significa no tener trabajo, tener miedo al futuro, significa perder un hijo ante una enfermedad por que no se contaba con lo más necesario como agua limpia. En resumen, es posible definir a la pobreza como la carencia de los recursos necesarios para satisfacer las necesidades de una población. Las características de la pobreza son, por lo tanto, la falta de salud, de nutrición, de ingresos, de empleo, de vivienda, de educación, de tecnología y en general la falta de oportunidades para el desarrollo humano. De esta manera, la pobreza es no sólo un problema económico sino también social, psicológico y de salud, pues la falta de recursos genera problemas en el núcleo familiar y afecta directa e indirectamente la salud de los individuos. Directamente al no poder tener acceso al cuidado médico y las medicinas necesarias, e indirectamente al generar tensión psicológica ).

Quality of Work Life has always gained attention of the researchers all time, as both the words ‘Quality’ and ‘Worklife’ are necessary in the world and share a greater value to the institution. It is believed that they have a positive correlation but at times they are questioned because many factors affect their correlativity. In this study we have surveyed 70 employees of a leading pharmaceutical company of Vadodara district to understand the relation among the quadrant mentioned by Walton. This is a Descriptive study. For the purpose of research on quality of work life, we devised an extensive structured questionnaire using a four point likert scale categorically dividing 70 statements varying from demographic to eight quadrants of work life.

Consciente dessa importância foi desenvolvido detalhado estudo sobre o tema, utilizando como universo de pesquisa 27 organizações contempladas com o Prêmio Nacional de Qualidade de Vida concedido pela Associação Brasileira de Qualidade de Vida (ABQV), no período de 10 anos. A ênfase do estudo foi mapear e analisar instrumentos e resultados das ações dos programas de qualidade de vida. Utilizou-se o método de estudo de campo, com realização de coleta de dados do tipo quantitativa-descritiva em duas etapas. Dentre os resultados encontrados destacam--se: a) 88% das empresas utilizam instrumentos específicos (em lugar de genéricos) de avaliação. Os indicadores desses instrumentos são: status de saúde dos funcionários e estresse; b) 26% organizações disponibilizaram informações sobre o turnover e 37% utilizam registros de absenteísmo que são associados à produtividade da empresa; d) dados sobre correlação entre a data de implantação dos programas, demonstraram que 72% das organizações tiveram diminuição do índice de turnover no período posterior à implantação do programa e 40% tiveram diminuição do índice de absenteísmo. A partir da constatação da ausência de um modelo de avaliação integrada, apresenta-se como contribuição, um efetivo modelo de avaliação dos programas de qualidade de vida no trabalho das empresas, com elementos relativos aos níveis pessoais e organizacionais.

Conclusions The results confirm that the QWLSI can provide an indication of workers' health well-being and of organizational performance in different areas of work life. The problem factors found among Belgian medical residents suggest that prevention should focus on reduction of work hours, development of support and change in leadership style.
