
Konrad Kuhn
I'm Associate Professor for European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.
After having received my Ph.D. from the University of Zurich in 2010, I got my venia docendi from the University of Basel (Habilitation in Cultural Anthropology) in 2019. My research interests include the history of knowledge of the discipline Volkskunde/European ethnology, rituals and customs, public history and cultures of commemoration as well as provenance research and restitutions practices. In an ongoing research project, we deal with the history of knowledge of "Unterhaltungsmusik" in Tirol/Austria from 1918 to 1948.
From 2012 to 2017 I was a lecturer and research assistant at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology at the University of Basel, Switzerland, before joining the Department of History and European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck as an University Assistant (Postdoc). I'm Editor-in-Chief (with Sabine Eggmann) of the "Schweizerisches Archiv für Volkskunde/Archives suisses des traditions populaires (SAVk/ASTP)", one of the renowned journals of our discipline.

Der Rhein in Basel ist dabei nur ein sehr kurzer Abschnitt der insgesamt fast 1’233 Kilometer, welcher der Fluss von seiner Quelle im Gotthardgebiet bis zu seiner Mündung in die Nordsee misst. Im Rahmen des Seminars Z’Basel an mym Rhy haben wir – inspiriert durch diese inoffizielle Stadthymne – nach den vielfältigen Beziehungen zwischen dieser Stadt und ihrem Fluss gefragt. Wir wollten erfahren, was den ‹Basler Rhein› ausmacht – und von anderen Rheinabschnitten unterscheidet – und wie der Fluss als ein zentrales Element urbaner Entwicklungen, Praktiken, Debatten, Erzählungen und Vorstellungen beschrieben werden kann. Diese Publikation fasst unsere Erkundungen am, über den und auf dem Basler Rhein zusammen.
