Data was collected through a case study of two process innovations at a healthcare firm in the United States. The findings illustrate how six IS competencies -Knowledge Management, Collaboration, Project Management, Ambidexterity, IT/Innovation Governance, Business-IS Linkages -can differentially affect the conception, development and implementation of process innovations. Implications for researchers and practitioners are drawn from these conclusions and suggestions for further research are proposed.

This paper proposes an analogous theory for cryptocurrencies, called optimal currency scope (OCS), and explains the conditions necessary for an OCS to exist. In contrast to an OCA, which is defined by its non-overlapping geographic areas, an OCS is defined by its multiple-overlapping attributes and the needs they solve, which we call scope. Scopes are not geographic and have fuzzy boundaries; so, the possibility of competing currencies in a single scope needs to be considered. The central issues surrounding an OCS are the optimal number and magnitude of currency attributes, rather than whether nations should adopt fixed versus fluctuating exchange rates. Similar to the findings since Mundell first introduced his OCA Theory, we find that the optimum number of cryptocurrency attributes and, therefore, the optimal number of cryptocurrencies must be determined empirically rather than theoretically.

However, blockchains also offer a high degree of anonymity, similar to fiat paper currency; the technology was intended to facilitate trustless transactions. Coupled with a global, borderless reach, blockchains have become an enabler of cybercrime. They are a new class of assets that, like all other assets, possess security risks and become potential targets of attack. In particular, cryptocurrencies, which depend on blockchain technology, provide significant incentives for attack because of their value. The goals of this article are to identify and classify blockchain-based cybercrimes and to explore the avenues for protecting against them at individual, organizational, and policy levels.

By analyzing abstracts of case-based studies using latent semantic analysis and comparing our results to prior analyses of the discipline, we have identified four such sub-disciplines: business intelligence, business analytics and Big Data; IT use by individuals; value of IT; and human resources. Within each sub-discipline, we have suggested topics and research questions that are particularly appropriate for case-based research. It is motivated by three interconnected hypotheses. First, organizational support for social media increases its use within the organization. Second, the use of social media within the organization increases the number and depth of office friendships. Finally, the number and quality of office relationships has an effect on employee satisfaction, commitment and engagement, and knowledge. We conclude that organizational support of social media has a positive effect on the human resource variables of interest.

The creation of a community of people who share a movement's objectives is central to its success. It requires a means of communication through which the movement's proponents can discuss and refine their objectives, share stories of personal grievances, build organizations, and design and implement strategy and tactics. Media are traditionally among the most important means of communication for building such communities. Social media are a relatively new form media whose power to foster social movements first became obvious during the Arab Spring of 2011. The purpose of this research is to address how social media can best be used to advance the goals of social movement proponents. Eight recent social movements that have used social media to various degrees are analyzed resulting in a model that attempts to answer this question.

Yet, online communities existed long before the Arab Spring, operating more quietly and out the spotlight of international news, and bringing together people with common interests who believed, correctly, that they could accomplish more as a community than they could as individuals. The purpose of this book is to bring to the forefront recent research that addresses the role of online communities as agents of change and social movements.

Prior research has identified five dimensions of IT capability and three activities related to innovation. The current research draws on these themes and examines the interplay among these factors. We used a multiple case study method and studied innovation activities at three case sites. The findings so far have revealed that the different aspects of IT capability do indeed affect an organization's ability to innovate and influence the innovation process in different ways. The paper explains how and why this is so, and identifies areas for further enquiry.

Hyperinflation, Optimal Currency Scopes, and a Cryptocurrency Alternative to Dollarization
The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, 2020
Abstract The birth, growth, and development of cryptocurrencies and their underlying technologies... more Abstract The birth, growth, and development of cryptocurrencies and their underlying technologies, such as blockchain and directed acyclic graphs, have made it possible for nations suffering from hyperinflation to adopt a customized cryptocurrency, with attributes specifically designed so that any nation wishing to transition from hyperinflation to a more stable monetary environment could do so. This paper identifies the sixteen most important attributes that this cryptocurrency would need to be a credible and viable monetary reform alternative. We call the breadth and depth of these attributes a cryptocurrency’s scope and refer to the act of adopting an optimal cryptocurrency, cryptozation. HACC (Hyperinflation Alternative Cryptocurrency) is our name for this specially designed (i.e., “optimal”) cryptocurrency. To succeed, the HACC would need to have near-immediate curative properties and provide user nations with a foundation for long-term growth and financial development. The HACC should be built for use by any nation considering currency reform, even those thousands of miles apart. As more nations adopt it, the HACC’s network would grow, increasing users’ trust and use. The HACC would sharply curtail a central bank’s ability to finance government deficits and bail out failing, nonviable financial institutions, thereby incentivizing them to manage their financial risks more prudently. It would also eliminate or sharply curtail ways in which governments and central banks can earn seigniorage returns.
