পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মানচিত্রে এক সময়ে জালের মতো ছড়িয়ে থাকা অগণিত নদ-নদীর মধ্যে ইছামতি একটি অনন্য নাম। এই নামটি শুনলেই মনের পর্দায় ভেসে ওঠে দু’টি দেশের সীমান্তের রোমাঞ্চ, ঐতিহাসিক নৌ-বাণিজ্যের জৌলুস, মিঠে জলের মাছের ভাণ্ডার এবং বঙ্গসংস্কৃতির অখণ্ড এক প্রবাহের ছবি। কিন্তু বর্তমান বাস্তবতা একেবারেই ভিন্ন, মর্মান্তিক এবং হতাশাজনক। আজ ইছামতি নদী তার অস্তিত্বের জন্য সংগ্রাম করছে। এটি এখন মৃতপ্রায়, একটি প্রাণহীন জলধারা, যার বুকে জমেছে কেবল কচুরিপানা, দূষিত কৃষি-নালার জল আর স্মৃতির আবর্জনা। এই নিবন্ধে আমরা ইছামতির গৌরবময় অতীত, তার বিলুপ্তির কারণ, তার ফলে সৃষ্ট সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক সংকট এবং এর পুনরুজ্জীবনের জন্য চলমান ও সম্ভাব্য উদ্যোগগুলি নিয়ে আলোচনা করব। ইছামতি নদীটিকে বর্তমান নদী গবেষকগণ তিনভাগে ভাগ করেন। উচ্চ ইছামতি, মধ্য ইছামতি এবং নিম্ন ইছামতি নামে। উচ্চ ইছামতি নদীটি পদ্মা নদীর একটি শাখানদী মাথাভাঙ্গা নদী থেকে প্রবাহিত হয় এবং বেনাপোল পর্যন্ত প্রবাহিত হয়। মধ্য ইছামতি নদী বেনাপোল থেকে দেবহাটা পর্যন্ত প্রবাহিত হয়। নিম্ন ইছামতি নদী পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সুন্দরবন এবং বাংলাদেশের সুন্দরবনের বুড়ি গোয়ালিনী রেঞ্জ পর্যন্ত প্রবাহিত হয়ে রায়মঙ্গল নদীতে পতিত হয়।
নদীটির উৎস হতে দেবহাটার পশ্চিম পর্যন্ত মোট দৈর্ঘ্য ২০৮ কিমি। প্রবাহ থেকে শেষ অংশ উত্তর ২৪ পরগণা জেলা‎র হাসনাবাদের কাছে এবং সাতক্ষীরা জেলার দেবহাটার কাছে কালিন্দী নদীর সাথে যুক্ত হয়।

আসহাবে ফীল হাতিওয়ালাদের কাহিনী ইসলামের ইতিহাসের এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অধ্যায়, যা কোরআনে সূরা আল-ফীল-এ বিশদভাবে উল্লেখ আছে। ইবনে আব্বাস (রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন: "আসহাবে ফীলদের জন্য ছোট ছোট পাথরসহ পাখি প্রেরণ করা হয়েছিল। যে পাথর তাদের কারো মাথায় পড়ত, তা নিচ দিয়ে বের হয়ে যেত এবং শরীর ছিন্ন-বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যেত।" (সহীহ বুখারি, হাদীস নং: ৩৮৩৫)
এই ঘটনা কেবল ইতিহাসের অংশ নয়, বরং একটি চিরন্তন শিক্ষা। ইয়েমেনের শাসক আব্রাহা যখন কাবা ধ্বংস করার অহংকার নিয়ে হাতি ও বিশাল সেনাদলসহ মক্কার দিকে অগ্রসর হয়েছিল, তখন আল্লাহ তাদের পরিকল্পনা নস্যাৎ করে দেন। আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে কোনো মানবীয় বাহিনী পাঠানো হয়নি; বরং ক্ষুদ্র পাখি ও ছোট কংকর দিয়েই তাদের বিনাশ করা হয়। এভাবেই প্রমাণিত হলো আল্লাহর শক্তি ও ইচ্ছার সামনে কোনো বাহিনী, কোনো শক্তি দাঁড়াতে পারে না।

ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস নিঃসন্দেহে অর্থনীতিতে অবদান রেখেছেন, কিন্তু বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক বাস্তবতা সামলানো তাঁর সাধ্যের বাইরে। একজন রাজনীতিতে অদক্ষ ব্যক্তিকে অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের শীর্ষে বসানো মানে নতুন করে অস্থিরতা ডেকে আনা। জাতীয় নির্বাচন প্রয়োজন একজন অভিজ্ঞ, বিশ্বস্ত ও নিরপেক্ষ রাজনৈতিক প্রশাসকের তত্ত্বাবধানে।

গণতন্ত্র রক্ষার একমাত্র পথ হলো—অযোগ্যতার বৃত্ত থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে যোগ্য নেতৃত্ব বেছে নেওয়া। অন্যথায়, নির্বাচন আবারও প্রহসনে পরিণত হবে, আর জনগণের আস্থা আরও গভীর খাদে তলিয়ে যাবে।

বাংলাদেশের গণতান্ত্রিক অঙ্গনে আবারও ভেসে উঠেছে একটি বিতর্ক—জাতীয় নির্বাচনের জন্য অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারের নেতৃত্বে ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস। প্রথমেই প্রশ্ন আসে—তিনি কি আদৌ এই দায়িত্ব পালনের জন্য যোগ্য?

অর্থনীতিবিদ, কিন্তু রাজনীতিবিদ নন

ড. ইউনূস নিঃসন্দেহে একজন বিশ্বখ্যাত অর্থনীতিবিদ। নোবেল পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্তির মাধ্যমে আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে তিনি সম্মান অর্জন করেছেন। কিন্তু রাজনীতির ময়দান অর্থনীতির খাতার অঙ্ক নয়। অর্থনীতি নিয়ে তত্ত্ব লেখা আর বহুমাত্রিক রাজনৈতিক সংকট সামলানো এক জিনিস নয়।
তিনি কোনো রাজনৈতিক দল গড়ে তুলতে পারেননি, জনগণের ভোটের মাধ্যমে নেতৃত্বে আসেননি, রাষ্ট্র পরিচালনার বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতাও তার নেই। সুতরাং একটি সংকটময় সময়ে তাঁকে অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার প্রধান উপদেষ্টা হিসেবে বসানো মানে জাতিকে নতুন পরীক্ষাগারে ঢুকিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে।

নিরপেক্ষতা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন

যারা মনে করেন, ড. ইউনূস নিরপেক্ষ থেকে একটি সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন আয়োজন করতে পারবেন—তারা মূল বাস্তবতাকে উপেক্ষা করছেন। দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে দেশীয় রাজনীতিতে পক্ষপাতিত্বের অভিযোগ রয়েছে। বিদেশি সংযোগ ও প্রভাবশালী মহলের সঙ্গে তাঁর ঘনিষ্ঠ সম্পর্ক তাঁকে অনেকের কাছে “নিরপেক্ষ” নয় বরং “পক্ষপাতদুষ্ট” চরিত্রে তুলে ধরেছে। এমন একজন ব্যক্তির নেতৃত্বে নির্বাচন হলে তা আরও বিতর্কিত হবে।

বাংলাদেশে নির্বাচন কেবল একটি কারিগরি প্রক্রিয়া নয়, এটি রাজনৈতিক আস্থা ও বিশ্বাসের প্রশ্ন। জনগণ চাইছে এমন একজন অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারপ্রধান, যিনি রাজনীতির মাঠ বোঝেন, যিনি প্রশাসন সামলানোর অভিজ্ঞতা রাখেন, এবং যিনি রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর কাছে গ্রহণযোগ্য ও বিশ্বাসযোগ্য। এমন একজন বিশ্বস্ত ব্যক্তিই জাতিকে সুষ্ঠু ও অবাধ নির্বাচনের দিকে নিয়ে যেতে পারবেন।

বাংলাদেশ আজ এক দমবন্ধ করা বাস্তবতার মধ্যে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। সামনে নির্বাচন—কিন্তু প্রশ্ন হচ্ছে, এটা কি নির্বাচন নাকি পূর্বলিখিত নাটকের মঞ্চায়ন? জনগণ ভোট দেবে, নাকি ভোট আগেই বাক্সভর্তি থাকবে? গণতন্ত্রের নামে এই প্রহসন আর কতদিন চলবে?

আইনশৃঙ্খলার পতন

দেশের আইনশৃঙ্খলা আজ তলানিতে। সন্ত্রাসী হামলা, মব ভায়োলেন্স, সাংবাদিকদের রক্তাক্ত ছবি প্রতিদিন ভাইরাল হচ্ছে। কাকরাইলে জাপা কার্যালয়ে দিনের পর দিন হামলা হচ্ছে—কেউ গ্রেফতার হচ্ছে না। কেন? কী কারণে হামলাকারীরা রাজনৈতিক ছত্রছায়ায় নিরাপদ।
যেখানে সাংবাদিককে রক্তাক্ত করা যায়, সেখানেই প্রমাণিত হয়—রাষ্ট্র ভেঙে পড়েছে।

জাতীয় পার্টির অফিসে হামলার বিচারহীনতা

জাতীয় পার্টির অফিসে বারবার হামলা হয়েছে। ভাঙচুর, অগ্নিসংযোগ, রক্তপাত—সবই ঘটেছে। অথচ হামলাকারীদের গ্রেফতার করা তো দূরের কথা, উল্টো ভুক্তভোগীদেরই হয়রানি করা হচ্ছে। তাহলে কি এই দেশে বিচার ব্যবস্থা দলীয় দালালি ছাড়া আর কিছু নয়?

নির্বাচন হবে নাকি প্রহসন?

প্রশ্ন হলো—এই অবস্থায় কি নির্বাচন সম্ভব? উত্তর সোজা: না।
এ দেশে নির্বাচন মানে এখন কেবল ক্ষমতার বৈধতা নেওয়ার নাটক। জনগণের ভোটাধিকারকে আগেই কবর দেওয়া হয়েছে। ব্যালট ছাপানোর আগে ফলাফল ঠিক হয়, ভোটকেন্দ্রে পৌঁছানোর আগেই বিজয়ী নির্ধারিত হয়।

আমরা স্পষ্ট করে বলতে চাই—
গণতন্ত্রের নামে এ প্রহসন আর চলতে দেওয়া যাবে না। জনগণ যদি ভোট দিতে না পারে, যদি বিরোধী দলের কার্যালয়ে হামলা হয়, যদি সাংবাদিকরা নিরাপত্তা না পায়—তাহলে এ রাষ্ট্র গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র নয়, বরং দমন-পীড়নের কারাগার।

বাংলাদেশকে অরাজকতার দিকে ঠেলে দেওয়া বন্ধ করুন।
নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন দিন, না হলে ইতিহাস লিখবে—
এই রাষ্ট্রের শাসকেরাই গণতন্ত্রকে হত্যা করেছে।

The history of newspapers or journalism in India dates back to ancient times.
Evidence of this can be found by analyzing the history of India’s oldest books
- the Vedas, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, etc.
The modern concept of Indian media developed during the British rule and the
media played a significant role in awakening the feeling of nationalism among
the countrymen during the independence movement.
The rise of regional newspapers in India in the 19th century played a

This article attempts to explore the ‘new’ family-view and the inner quarters of an enlightened Hindu household in 19th century Bengal through the autobiographical narrative of Kailashbasini Devi (1829-1995). Kailashbasini was the wife of Kishori Chand Mitra (1822-1873), a writer, social reformer and civil servant in colonial Bengal, who was educated at Hindu College. His brother was the renowned novelist Peary Chand Mitra. By examining Kailashbasini Devi’s autobiography, we delve into the domestics and conjugal lives of Kishori Chand and Kailashbasini, revealing the ethos of their family and the evolving ‘new’ family perspective of a western-educated young man. We analyze her narrative in the context of social history to understand why this memoir has become an essential document for studying the emergence of ‘new’ family-thoughts in 19th century Bengal.

ভাষাহীন প্রতিবাদ (protest without language) গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। যখন কোনো ব্যক্তি প্রতিষ্ঠিত ভাষার ব্যবস্থায় নিজেকে প্রকাশ করতে অক্ষম হয়, তখন সে এক ধরনের নীরব রেটোরিক্স তৈরি করে—যা সমাজের প্রচলিত মানসিকতা ও শাসনের বিরুদ্ধে এক ধরনের চ্যালেঞ্জ ছুঁড়ে দেয়। দেরিদা-এর ভাষ্য অনুসারে, পাগলামি ও রেটোরিক্সের সম্পর্ক জটিল—এটি কেবল ক্ষমতার ও ভাষার বিরুদ্ধে এক ধরনের প্রতিরোধ নয়, বরং এরা একে অপরকে নির্ধারণও করে।

কুরবানী একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ  ওয়াজিব ইবাদত। সামর্থ্য থাকা সত্ত্বেও যে ব্যক্তি এই ইবাদত পালন করে না তার ব্যাপারে হাদীস শরীফে এসেছে, ‘যার কুরবানীর সামর্থ্য রয়েছে কিন্তু কুরবানী করে না সে যেন আমাদের ঈদগাহে না আসে।’-এই আর্টিকেলে কোরবানীর কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাসআলা মাসায়েল নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে।

Some drink poetry and become intoxicated, losing themselves in the immortality of poetry. Complex philosophical thoughts are oxidized in the neurons of the skull, and the embryo of poetry is created in the poet's brain. Poetry is born through the interaction of ink and pen in the arrangement of words. Poetry is a well-organized creation like this universe; the poet is its creator. Each line released from the poet's brain, drawn from the rocky walls of an ancient cave to a postmodern virtual canvas, has awakened love, separation, and sometimes a spark of rebellion in human character. In this continuity, our arrangement is filled with the words of love and betrayal. This luminous tribute to the 'pa-ulipi', pulsating with the indomitable enthusiasm of creation, is expected to find a place in the reader's mind.
