An interactive web tool, the DecideGuide, is developed to support case managers in facilitating shared decision making in care networks of people with dementia. The DecideGuide is developed in collaboration with the end users: people with dementia, informal caregivers, and case managers. The development consisted of five sub studies. In retrospection, reflections are made on these sub studies. Lessons learned concerned: the importance and value of involving people with dementia in the development of assistive technology such as the DecideGuide, the importance of involving people with dementia from the start, the importance of taking time for people with dementia, and the importance of being aware about the role of end users from the very beginning. To support shared decision making in care networks of people with dementia, an interactive web tool for people with dementia, informal caregivers, case managers and other professional caregivers is being developed. This study aims to identify user requirements for such a tool. A multiple method study with an iterative, participatory design was conducted. Data collection involved 50 semi-structured interviews with end users (people with dementia, informal caregivers, case managers and other professional caregivers), eight focus group interviews with end users and experts, a dementia expert consultation, and two multidisciplinary workshops. Content analysis was applied to the data and resulted in two sets of user requirements for the interactive web tool. Decision Making (SDM) in dementia is complex. This is caused by the increasing cognitive decline associated with dementia and the number of involved people (people with dementia, informal caregivers and case managers). The aim of this study is to identify design issues in developing a user-friendly IT application facilitating Shared decision-making in dementia. Data collection in this study with an iterative participatory design based on the CeHRes roadmap included: focus group interviews with people with dementia, informal caregivers and case managers; a cognitive walkthrough with researchers; and a first usability test with case managers. This resulted in a list of issues addressing the quality of the system, content and service and a revision of the tool before informal caregivers and people with dementia will be invited to participate in usability tests.

People with dementia are confronted with many decisions. However, they are often not involved in the process of the decision-making. Shared Decision-Making (SDM) enables involvement of persons with dementia in the decision-making process. In our study, we develop a supportive IT application aiming to facilitate the decisionmaking process in care networks of people with dementia. A key feature in the development of this SDM tool is the participation of all network members during the design and development process, including the person with dementia. In this paper, we give insight into the first phases of this design and development process in which we conducted extensive user studies and translated wishes and needs of network members into user requirements.

Aalborg University (AAU) in Denmark practises problem-based learning (PBL) in all study programmes in all faculties. The PBL principles are broadly defined; different study programmes may choose a variety of PBL practices. The purpose of this paper is therefore to analyse how PBL student projects look in a selection of different STEM study programmes and to discuss the elasticity of the PBL principles. One would expect PBL to "look different" when comparing, for instance, projects in the humanities with science, but we want to learn if there is any variation within the STEM subjects. We analysed groups of three, four, and seven recent student Bachelor reports (6 th semester) from Mathematics, Biology, and Mechanical Engineering, respectively. The subjects are taught and recognised worldwide. We focus on Bachelor reports since they show how students work with their subject by the end of a PBL education. We expect that by choosing the final projects, we avoid "beginner-issues" in PBL as the Bachelor project is the seventh PBL project the students do at AAU so any variation in the projects is not due to students not yet grasping the principles of PBL. The research methodology is documentary analysis of curricula and the reports. The focus is on how the reports describe and analyse their problem and what types of problem the students work with. Our findings show a great variation within problems but mainly the students worked with contrast problems, thus here there is room for even more diversity of projects and elasticity of PBL. Some reports did not apply PBL terminology but instead wrote, for instance, aim. Most projects were discipline projects while two were a kind of multi projects where groups collaborated with another group in different ways. Overall, we saw a great variety of PBL, which testifies to the elastic nature of PBL.

The education system in Malaysia is constantly changing in terms of the use of technology in teaching and learning process (T&L). Many studies have been conducted to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the technologies in the classroom. However, lack of studies have been made to identify students' perceptions of the integration of Web 2.0 approaches in achieving meaningful learning. The objective of this study was to identify the perception of the students’ feeling, technologies’ strengths, weaknesses, challenges and suggestions while using Web 2.0 technologies in order to achieve meaningful learning. Online communities (OC's) depend on shared interests and user interactions mediated by technology. Successful OC's find ways to encourage these interactions to grow communities. Many OC's have influential users that help grow the community by their very presence and contributions. However, the process for identifying users having the greatest impact is not trivial. This study offers a new method for identifying these influential users through the creation of modified Hirsch indices, which improves upon the current method of using contribution counts or a survey method of polling other users. We validate the new measures against user status and then analyze the measures by correlating them against postings, thread starts, and views and replies to the thread starts for a shared interest OC.

This work was made in the postgraduate studies: ICT in learning contexts, rather answering to a challenge proposed in the subject Project Seminar. The work focuses on the topic "Web 2.0 as a motivational factor in the learning process" and it´s constituted by two parts: theoretical relevance and interventional methodology. In the first part, essentially theoretical, are presented ideas about the educational implications that Web 2.0 has brought to the pedagogy or the educational theory. According to that, a literature review has been made about that topic. In the second one, basically practical, we studied a case and tried to improve the educational practice, helped by WEB 2.0. One of the researchers involved in this project implemented an educational practice based on Information and Communication Technology, using free web 2.0 tools in an unmotivated class, and he managed to motivate the students, improving its performance, interest and participation. Abstract
Societal changes and technological advancements have transformed the role of school libraries and librarians, positioning them as pivotal in education. The integration of new technologies enables the provision of information through contemporary methods, while librarians acquire digital skills through continuous professional development. School librarians enhance their competencies in educating users, ensuring students achieve information and digital literacy. Digital literacy, as a critical skill, encompasses the ability to locate, evaluate, utilize, and create digital content.

Web technologies such as Web 2.0 and 3.0, alongside the Library 2.0 concept, facilitate more interactive and dynamic approaches, utilizing tools such as blogs, wikis, Google Classroom, and podcasts. Podcasts, as a modern educational medium, foster creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork, with librarians actively contributing to their creation and dissemination. The integration of podcasts into the educational process offers opportunities for developing research and communication skills while providing students access to knowledge beyond standard curricula. School libraries are adapting to the digital age by promoting literacy, innovation, and lifelong learning, ensuring their continued relevance and impact in modern education systems.

This study aims to predict the level to which classroom teachers' program literacy explains their program evaluation level, utilizing the "Program Literacy Scale" developed by Bolat (2017) and the "Program Evaluation Scale" developed by Baş (2016). Additionally, we seek to determine the impact of participant demographics, including gender, age, seniority, and faculty type graduated, on these skills. We employed a quantitative research method with a scanning design and a random sampling approach. The study involved 380 classroom teachers from state schools during the 2023-2024 academic year. We analysed the obtained data by using descriptive analyses, independent t-tests, ANOVA tests, Tukey's HSD test, and Simple Linear Regression. Analysis revealed significant differences (p<.05) in program literacy based on teacher age, seniority, and faculty graduation. Additionally, program evaluation skills differed based on gender, seniority, and faculty graduation factors. Importantly, the study found that program literacy positively predicted the level of program evaluation skills. These results suggest a link between teachers' program knowledge and their capability to evaluate program effectively.

With the increasing popularity of Web 2.0 tools, it only follows that these technologies are adapted to our foreign language classroom practices. Research shows their numerous advantages as participatory tools that foster communication and collaboration. This study focuses on one such tool, the wiki, and describes the implementation of three different wiki projects (micropedia, branching story, and pre-reading) in three university intermediate foreign language classes (French, Spanish, and German). The objective is twofold: to investigate (1) the type of collaboration that wikis foster, and (2) students' perceptions of this collaborative work. Results from a post-experimental questionnaire point to the positive effect of wikis on students' motivation to use the foreign language, while revealing varying degrees of satisfaction with collaborative work.

Problem-based learning (PBL) is a pedagogical approach that has received worldwide recognition, especially within higher education, and it can be found in a large number of diverse models. The current article derives from the first stage of the research project “Virtual communities of youth: making visible their learning and knowledges”, funded by The Reina Sofia Centre on Adolescence and Youth (Second Call for Research Grants-2015), exploratory and with a duration of one year. The main goal of the study is identifying and mapping typologies of youth virtual communities, exploring them as learning and knowledge production spaces, and analyze how and what the young people who participate in them learn. In this first stage we carried out a cartography of the virtual communities with Spanish youth participants. The education system around the world emphasises the importance of pedagogical innovation using the latest technological advances in order to create effective and meaningful learning. Nevertheless, the studies related to the relationship between Web 2.0 technologies and meaningful learning attributes are inadequate. The objective of the study was to identify the relationship between frequency of Web 2.0 tools and five meaningful learning attributes. Based on a survey with 70 respondents, frequencies of five types of Web 2.0 applications (Facebook, YouTube, WordPress, Twitter and Prezi) that were used as hybrid e-learning tools were identified. The study looks at information literacy skills (IL) among postgraduate students of Babcock University. It identified some IL programmes that were of utmost importance to enhance research skills of postgraduate students (PG). The instrument used to elicit response from the respondents was a structured questionnaire. The population of the study comprised a total of 253 PG students of 2012/2013 academic session. A total enumeration sampling technique was used to select the sample. All the respondents were sampled and a total of 243 questionnaires were retrieved given a return rate of 84% which were found useful and used for the analysis. Findings show that most of the respondents had their IL skills through seminar, user education (library instruction), orientation, one-on-one discussion and tutorial. Developing authentic learning environments in higher education calls for pedagogical approaches to foster online collaborative learning. The main aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a collaboration script for a wiki task. A collaboration script is a set of instructions to improve collaboration between learning partners. Participants were first-year university students in Educational Sciences (N=186) collaborating in groups of five during a three-week period to create a wiki on peer assessment in education. Two conditions were contrasted: a scripted and a non-scripted condition. The effect of scripting was measured in four ways (questionnaires, log-file analyses, group product scores, and individual pre-posttest scores). Results show significant positive effects of scripting with respect to the collaborative group processes and students' feelings of shared responsibility. No significant effects of scripting were found with respect to the developed wiki products. As for students' individual learning outcomes, results showed a significant increase from pre-to post-test for all students. Although the increase was higher in the scripted condition, the difference between the conditions was not statistically significant.

RESUMEN El presente artículo muestra cómo las tecnologías emergentes han abierto un sinnúmero de posibilidades para la educación en sus diferentes niveles y modalidades, planteando un cambio de paradigma en el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje y de los retos que debe afrontar la educación superior colombiana. De igual manera se expone la importancia de la educación virtual y a distancia en el modelo educativo actual, sus ventajas y desventajas, y de su relación directa con las TIC, al igual que la normatividad poco clara que existe al respecto. Bajo este esquema, se exponen cambios que traen consigo propuestas revolucionarias en materia de educación, al igual que nuevas pedagogías y metodologías, que permiten apoyar los nuevos ambientes de aprendizaje. Es así que se habla de la tecno-educación como una consecuencia de la implementación de las TIC en la educación, donde la educación superior tiene mucho que ver, al igual que el sector empresarial, en asumir los nuevos retos que plantea la tecnología en la forma de transmitir el conocimiento. Nowadays, transactions carried out with digital currencies are increasing. Modern societies are asked to respond to growing challenges related to the management of digital currencies in their daily lives. However, due to the lack of digital skills of users, the management of digital currencies hides risks. To the best of our knowledge, the originality of the current research lies in the act of combining the concept of digital skills with the use of digital currencies. After all, the use of digital currencies is constantly increasing, which means that citizens should familiarize themselves with their use, an element that makes this study valuable for digital societies. Digital skills effectively contribute to the development of digital societies because they increase the employment of citizens, facilitate access to information, and contribute to the social inclusion of individuals through digital communication, while also increasing efficiency and productivity in the workplace. Also, the government and banking institutions can more effectively sensitize citizens to digital skills for more effective use of digital currencies. In this way, tax payments will be facilitated, the use of e-wallets will be safer, and e-governance will be greatly promoted, while the quality of banking services will be improved. The methodology of this study was based on the Digital Competence Framework for Modern Societies (DigComp) and was applied through a questionnaire completed by 443 respondents. The main objective was to evaluate their digital skills from the perspective of digital currency use. The analysis of the responses was carried out by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The most important result from this research reveals that users of digital currencies are significantly capable of developing communication to solve everyday problems. At the same time, users of digital currencies mostly detect digital threats and effectively manage fake news without being affected by them. However, users of digital currencies consider that security issues are important, but only for transactions and not for their supporting functions. The study concludes with suggestions for improving the experience of digital currency users through individual actions, thus having a positive impact on the state and banking institutions.

In light of the increased demand for greater accountability and legitimacy, new disclosure mechanisms based on non-financial transparency have emerged. Universities cannot be left behind with respect to these social demands. In addition, continuous competition in excellence is driving higher education organizations to exhibit a greater visibility of their results, necessarily incorporating more non-financial aspects to boost stakeholder engagement. The novelty of this work lies in the analysis of the real state of non-financial vs. financial information in both public and private universities and in the exploration of their influence on stakeholder online engagement. The current global economic instability and the vulnerability of small island nations are providing the impetus for greater integration between the countries of the South Pacific region. This exercise is critical for their survival in today's turbulent economic environment. Past efforts of regional integration in the South Pacific have not been very successful. Reasons attributed to this outcome include issues related to damage of sovereignty, and lack of a shared integration infrastructure. Today, the IT resources with collaborative capacities provide the opportunity to develop a shared IT infrastructure to facilitate integration in the South Pacific. In an attempt to develop a model of regional integration with an IT-backed infrastructure, we identify and report on the antecedents of the current stage of regional integration, and the stakeholders' perceived benefits of an IT resources backed regional integration in the South Pacific. Employing a case study based approach, the study finds that while most stakeholders were positive about the potential of IT-backed regional integration, significant challenges exist that hinder the realisation of this model. The study finds that facilitating IT-backed regional integration requires enabling IT infrastructure, equitable IT development in the region, greater awareness on the potential of the modern IT resources, market liberalisation of the information and telecommunications sector and greater political support for IT initiatives.

The paper is concerned with relationships between SSME and ICTs and focuses on the role of Web 2.0 tools in the service development process. The research presented aims at exploring how collaborative technologies can support and improve service processes, highlighting customer centrality and value coproduction. The core idea of the paper is the centrality of user participation and the collaborative technologies as enabling factors; Wikipedia is analyzed as an example. The result of such analysis is the identification and description of a pattern characterising specific services in which users collaborate by means of web tools with value co-producers during the service process. The pattern of collaborative co-production concerning several categories of services including knowledge based services is then discussed.

In architecture, the individual needs and preferences of the end users need to be achieved in order to ensure a successful design. Standardized houses have been for long the reason for inhabitants' lack of satisfaction. The participation of inhabitants in the design process of their own houses is a crucial aspect to address housing customization, however there is a lack of effective tools to help inhabitants co-design their houses. Generative design solutions seem to be an effective way to address mass customization problem. In this paper we present a literature review on computer aided design systems that allow inhabitants to design, or partially design, their own houses. Existing solutions are classified in several categories (as generation process, target users, type of outcome, type of interaction, availability) regarding to what they accomplish and then analysed.

In this paper we present and assess tools for visualizing architectonic modifications of existing housing in co-design projects with inhabitants. These tools should enable inhabitants to explore and understand design variations of alterations of their houses. This contribution is part of ongoing research on the use of artificial realities for supporting the transformations of existing housing in architectonically responsible ways. Such transformations may be needed after the delivery of housing, say after five years or later, due to changed regulation, the need of updates or changed living conditions of inhabitants. For arriving at architectonically responsible transformations we use shape grammar system for defining possible modifications of the housing. For empowering inhabitants to understand and explore these modifications to their housing we develop a transformation grammar tool-MyChangesto visualize the modifications by three visualization modes, from fully-immersive to non-immersive. Interviews and tests with real inhabitants were performed and preliminary conclusions show that a tool like the MyChanges would have a good acceptance among inhabitants.

This is a reflective paper based on authors' observation, experience and review of the related literature. The paper examines the 2.0 phenomenon and the ways in which the digital age has impacted the infrastructure of university education and its delivery. It discusses this paradigm shifts and the roles of teachers, librarians and students in Nigerian universities. The paper reveals that we are witnessing changes of approach to knowledge generation and learning outcomes and to more collaborative ways of working. Ways that harness the collective skills, knowledge and effort of all those involved in our learning communities, that transform practice to more accurately reflect the way we live and work. The paper recommends among others; changes of approach from instructional paradigm to learning paradigm, blended learning-[ synchronous and asynchronous methods] as well as more collaborative ways of working between librarians and educators such that can help the latter to look towards technology as normal and not as something strange or remote.

Purpose – The aim of this paper is to review how the e-Inclusion concept has been explored through the public libraries in the last two decades. The author also chose to focus on some examples of the European and Estonian projects which have reflect digital inclusion in public libraries. The education system around the world emphasises the importance of pedagogical innovation using the latest technological advances in order to create effective and meaningful learning. Nevertheless, the studies related to the relationship between Web 2.0 technologies and meaningful learning attributes are inadequate. The objective of the study was to identify the relationship between frequency of Web 2.0 tools and five meaningful learning attributes. Based on a survey with 70 respondents, frequencies of five types of Web 2.0 applications (Facebook, YouTube, WordPress, Twitter and Prezi) that were used as hybrid e-learning tools were identified. Data was collected using a set of instruments. Results show that the instrument is highly reliable and validated. A gap exists in the literature on how teachers could use social media tools such as Edmodo to engage middle school students for innovative online collaboration. This qualitative case study explored the factors that contributed to the acceptance and use of Edmodo by middle school teachers in a Mid-Atlantic urban school district. Specifically, the research explored how teachers leveraged Edmodo to initiate and sustain networked collaboration with their students. The accessibility and popularity of social networks makes them appropriate tools for promotion and prevention interventions in health, reaching a large audience with greater efficiency. Platforms such as Facebook are very popular among young people, a high risk group for Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection due to ignorance, prejudice and sexual behavior that is risked and active. The objective of this research is to know the preferences and attitudes of young people towards (1) interaction and (2) type of information about HPV on Facebook. Increasing our knowledge in this area will help to make interventions in this field more useful. The study described along this dissertation, in a pragmatic perspective, sought to assess whether the use of "mashups", enriched with digital narratives, images and text, incorporated into a digital educational resource created in the web tool 2.0 Google Earth, in the educational context of learning about contents from the disciplinary curriculum area of Environmental Study, would bring some change in learning proficiency of students from 1st Cycle of the Basic Education, as well as aimed to obtain views on the relevance of Google Earth tool for educational purposes. Therefore, it was used a research methodology based on "design", more properly the DBR (Design-Based Research), in a case study with naturalistic features, involving a research guider, researcher, professors and students from two 4th year classes of the 1st Cycle of the Basic Education. To answer the main question, both classes were proposed to acquire the same Environmental Study contents, though using different learning methodologies. Having one of the classes acquired knowledge through a digital educational tool created in GE (Google Earth) and the other class acquired the same without any tool of the same kind, one tried to know the influences of this resource created in GE on students learning, as well as their opinion about the same. During this study, there were collected relevant data through Learning Diagnostic Tests as well as through interviews with students, which enabled us to recognize that there are changes in proficiency on students learning, using the GE tool. It was also verified that it is a tool full of learning potential, since its use not only had sparked the motivation and interest between the students in this study, but also features all the valences of an OER (Open Educational Resource), such as its use, adaptation, reuse and sharing across the educational community.

Istraživanje je bilo longitudinalno i neempirijsko, provedeno je metodama radom na dokumentaciji i intervjuiranjem djece dječjeg vrtića &#39;&#39;Sunčica&#39;&#39; iz Osijeka. U istraživanju je sudjelovao 1 odgojitelj i 22 djece. Iz istraživanja je nastao 51 rad od kojih su 28 ušli u analizu. Cilj istraživanja jest utvrditi imaju li ilustracije u slikovnici utjecaj na likovni izraz kod djece, kao i sviđa li im se više gledati ilustracije tijekom čitanja slikovnice ili ne. Predmet istraživanja u završnom radu je dječji likovni izraz. Paradigma istraživanja jest postpozitivistička jer su korištena 2 mjerna instrumenta, a to je rad na dokumentaciji, dječjim likovnim radovima prije i nakon pokazivanja ilustracija u slikovnici te intervjuiranje djece o načinu čitanja slikovnice i dostupnosti ilustracija tijekom istog te koju od ponuđenih dviju likovnih tehnika u ilustracijama radije vole vidjeti.
