Classes often focus on group projects and work, creating a space where students can learn from each other and form connections that last into their careers. Industry ties made through internships and guest speakers from experienced journalists add to this network's strength, giving students views on real-world issues and job standards. Also, finding mentors in school can offer students helpful advice and tools that are important for moving from student life to professional work. By building a strong community with peers and mentors, journalism education not only gets students ready for the field but also builds long-lasting professional connections that can improve career paths. Ultimately, journalism education's role in job success goes beyond just gaining skills; it also promotes a complete approach that develops informed, flexible, and ethical professionals. With media always changing, teachers who use new technologies and creative methods in their lessons help students gain flexible skills vital for lasting careers. From mastering storytelling to working with multimedia, an all-around journalism education encourages adaptability and strength in graduates. When they enter the job market, these individuals are not just job seekers but ready professionals prepared to face the challenges of today's journalism. In this way, journalism education is a vital base for training a new group of writers and reporters who can deliver powerful stories and engage with the public.

Responding to the tenth KISMIF conference call, this roundtable, co-organised by Deniz Ilbi and Dr Pedro Cravinho, explores issues of gender inequality in Portugal's past and present jazz scenes. Framed in the conference's theme, 'inter-and multidisciplinary approaches to socio-history, new social movements, gender, and culture', it examines barriers and gender identity in the current Portuguese jazz scene. Existing research reveals that jazz culture in Portugal was predominantly male until April 25, 1974, with women artists having a minor presence in the following decades (Cravinho, 2022). Associated with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the military Coup d'état that overthrown the right-wing colonialist New State regime, to what extent does the ongoing underrepresentation of women in jazz in Portugal, either as instrumentalist or leaders, (still, continues to) perpetuate inequality? This roundtable, moderated by Dr Adam Havas (Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at the University of Barcelona, Department of Sociology), will examine the impact of the dictatorship and the post-dictatorship periods on the underrepresentation of women jazz musicians in the Portuguese jazz scene. It will bring together Dr Pedro Cravinho (jazz scholar), Fátima Serro (jazz singer), Clara Lacerda (jazz composer and pianist), and Deniz Ilbi (PhD candidate) currently working on her PhD research project Women Leading the Stage: A Contemporary Gendered History of Jazz in Portugal (1966-2020), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT-2021-07645-BD).

Under the pretext of protection and safety, women have historically been confined to circumscribed spaces both physically and psychologically. This systemic restriction has resulted in a deeprooted internalization of patriarchal ideologies, conditioning even women themselves to perceive femininity as inherently frail and dependent. The subjugation of women, manifesting across social, cultural, and ideological spheres, has been a recurrent motif in diverse literary traditions. The present article offers a critical exploration of the complex gender politics in A Quest for Freedom, the English translation of Swechcha, a seminal Telugu novel authored by Volga. Through a close textual analysis, this paper discusses how the narrative articulates resistance to entrenched gender norms, exposing and interrogating the structures of power that sustain gender inequality. Volga's narrative deftly engages with feminist concerns, offering a layered portrayal of women's struggles for autonomy and self-definition within a patriarchal milieu This paper situates A Quest for Freedom within the broader corpus of feminist literature, emphasizing its significance as a transformative text that contributes meaningfully to contemporary discourses on gender and social justice. Through its nuanced depiction of female subjectivity, resistance, and emancipation, the novel offers critical insights into the dynamics of gender politics. In analyzing Volga's narrative technique and thematic emphasis, the article aims to deepen scholarly engagement with feminist literary production, while interrogating the prevailing societal constructs that continue to shape and limit women's lived experiences.

Effective doctor-patient communication is a cornerstone of quality healthcare delivery, as it enhances diagnosis, treatment compliance, and patient satisfaction. However, language barriers have continued to pose significant challenges within medical consultations, especially in multicultural and multilingual societies like Nigeria. This study examines the extent to which language barriers hinder effective doctor-patient communication at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). Using a qualitative and quantitative approach, the research draws insights from both healthcare professionals and patients to identify common communication gaps, their implications for healthcare outcomes, and coping strategies employed in bridging such gaps. Findings reveal that language differences between doctors and patients often result in misinterpretation of medical advice, poor patient compliance with treatment plans, and increased dissatisfaction with healthcare services. Furthermore, the study highlights how reliance on interpreters, non-verbal cues, and simplified language partially mitigates these challenges but does not fully address the root problem. The research concludes that integrating language training for medical practitioners, promoting the use of professional interpreters, and incorporating multilingual health education materials are crucial in overcoming language-related communication barriers. These measures are essential for improving patient-centered care and enhancing overall healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

India has always been a society-run civilisation, not a state-engineered machine. From
village panchayats to caste sabhas and temple economies, the Indian subcontinent has
historically evolved through decentralised governance — where local culture shaped
public life. But post-Independence, the central leadership, primarily the Congress, tried to
govern India as a State-run unit, misunderstanding its federal soul.
One of the most potent symbols of this misunderstanding was the misuse of Article 356 —
a constitutional provision that allowed the Centre to dismiss state governments under the
pretext of "constitutional breakdown." Over decades, this was used less for governance and
more for political control. The side-effect? The birth and rise of regional parties.

Bab ini juga membahas mengenai definisi digital dan bagaimana efek dari aspek digital tersebut mempengaruhi masyarakat dengan melihat dari aspek sejarah dari perkembangan internet hingga terbentuknya masyarakat digital baru.

Penelitian ini menganalisis perkembangan dalam bidang komunikasi dalam hubungan romantis maupun sosial yang mempelajari tiga aspek utama: koneksi, batasan, dan tantangan. Tujuan penelitian ini merupakan pemahaman bagaimana komunikasi sangat berpengaruh bagi kualitas hubungan, khususnya dalam hal pembuatan dan ikatan emosional, pengelolaan konflik, serta pemeliharaan batasan pribadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode berupa survei kuantitatif dan wawancara antara pasangan dan individu yang memiliki hubungan dekat. Hasil penelitian memberikan bukti bahwa komunikasi terbuka mendorong koneksi sosial. Gaya komunikasi berbeda dan tekanan teknologi sosial budaya merupakan salah satu cara untuk menguatkan komunikasi karena yang sehat memerlukan kesadaran, keterampilan, dan kejujuran. Terbuka, jujur dan penuh kesadaran merupakan kunci utama dalam menciptakan emosional dalam komunikasi antar individu, hal ini dapat memunculkan dampak baik bagi kestabilan dalam hubungan komunikasi tersebut. Jika pikiran dan emosi tidak di kelola dengan baik dapat menimbulkan miskomunikasi yang dapat membuat koneksi sosial menjadi lemah. Gabungan antara survei dan wawancara dapat memberikan partisipasi antar individu yang sudah menjalani hubungan dekat. Setiap pengalaman sosial memiliki tekanan dari lingkungan sekitar, dengan adanya latar belakang, pengaruh budaya, serta teknologi digital menyebabkan komunikasi dapat dilakukan dengan cara yang lebih cepat. Tiap individu menjaga kualitas hubungan jangka panjang karena keberhasilan yang dihadapi akan membina hubungan interpersonal di era modern seperti saat ini yang memiliki keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal yang baik, kemampuan dalam membangun batasan, kesadaran emosional. komunikasi secara terbuka merupakan cara yang sehatdalam menyampaikan informasi.

This paper deals with the influence of social media on the creation of news in Croatian national television news programmes. It examines how posts published in social media influence news on public and commercial televisions, primarily concerning the creation of relevant political messages in national television central news programmes (HTV, RTL, Nova TV). At the same time, the paper attempts to determine which social media news are used the most, and which televisions lead in conveying the same. The research was based on several assumptions, presented through three hypotheses. The first is that commercial televisions use social media as a source of information to a greater extent than the public television. The second is that most posts from the social media that are presented in public and commercial television news refer to political messages. The third is that journalists usually do not check the authenticity of posts and messages in social media by consulting additional sources. Taking into consideration uniqueness of television as a visual medium, this paper was trying to test in which manner presenting posts from social media impacts the changes within television as a medium. By using two empirical research methods (quantitative method based on surveys and content analysis) and by comprising a representative sample (of both the respondents and characteristic content segments). The results obtained basically refuted both the first and the third hypotheses, while the second one was supported in full. The results – along with the confirmation of the importance of social media as a source of information – displayed the structure of using the shared information, especially the information with political content, crucial to forming public opinion. At the same time, they also showed the direction of change of the television medium in the media convergence environment.

Es recurrente que las teorías sobre las masas expresen preocupaciones por la "masificación", entendida justamente como una intensa, irrefrenable e incontenible inmersión del individuo en el torrente de la vida colectiva y de los fenómenos de masas. Esa inmersión, por supuesto, suele ser vinculada a una pérdida de racionalidad (o de capacidad individual de raciocinio, entendimiento o conducción de la vida) por parte de unos individuos que han resultado presas de fenómenos generalizados de sugestión colectiva. De hecho, la palabra "sugestión" es la que con mayor frecuencia suele asociarse a fenómenos de masas ya desde los tiempos fundacionales de las ciencias sociales, por ejemplo en autores claves como Tarde y Le Bon. Desde luego, esta segunda dimensión analítica muestra fuertes conexiones con la primera, presentada más arriba. En efecto, esta articulación, en algunos casos, vendrá dada por la típica preocupación liberal por la pérdida de la autonomía individual y de racionalidad, y en ese sentido se formularán críticas sombrías y negativas acerca de los fenómenos de masas y sus consecuencias; en otros casos, se enarbolarán esperanzas por el porvenir venturoso que esas masas estarían en buenas condiciones de construir, convertidas ya en unos nuevos agentes que harían su ingreso o irrumpirían en una historia que antes las había relegado o apenas las había contemplado a la distancia y con resquemor. En cualquier caso, lo interesante para esta segunda dimensión analítica será explorar en detalle la forma en que se manifiesta la necesaria tensión entre individuo y masa/s, una tensión que estará presente siempre y en todos los autores (para bien o para mal, según el caso, esto es, la masa entendida como condición para la plena realización del individuo, de sus potencialidades y de su creatividad política, o bien, por el contrario, la masa como anulación, liquidación o menoscabo de sus más elementales facultades). 23 En este sentido, sucede algo bien diferente a lo que se observa para el caso de la relación individuo-sociedad, dicotomía teórica predilecta para muchas sociologías desde los tiempos de los "padres fundadores". En efecto, se sabe que una parte no desdeñable de la tradición sociológica ha desplegado numerosos esfuerzos teóricos por dejar de considerar ambas instancias como necesariamente antitéticas, desde Durkheim hasta Norbert Elias, para mencionar sólo dos operaré de este mismo modo superficial en el resto de los apartados de esta sección del capítulo, al presentar otras dimensiones analíticas de las masas. 23 No está de más subrayar aquí que la primera de estas posiciones es bastante más infrecuente que la segunda.

Es indudable que la actual sociedad del conocimiento, basada en el desarrollo constante y espectacular de las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones (TIC), es ahora la gran fuente de desarrollo económico, social y cultural en el mundo, sin embargo no de manera equitativa. La desigualdad no sólo es de orden tecnológico en cuanto contar con la infraestructura tecnológica, conocida como la brecha digital, menos accesible por los países de menos desarrollo, sino además de otra más inquietante, la brecha cognitiva. Es decir, contar además con el acceso a la información y el conocimiento que se está creando y constantemente aumentando de manera exponencial por todas las sociedades que sin embargo no está al alcance para todas. Es indudable que estas
brechas son producto del modelo neoliberal que impera en casi todo el mundo. Es este modelo económico, donde se privilegia la competencia lucrativa en detrimento de un desarrollo democrático, social y cultural, es la que ha provocado las grandes crisis que actualmente estamos viviendo en todo el mundo incluso en las clases menos favorecidas de los países desarrollados. De esta realidad la UNESCO ha sido consciente. En el marco de la Cumbre del Milenio celebrada el año 2000 en Nueva York, planteó los

The relationship between Social Media and Legacy Media has been of much interest to scholars. This paper investigates an interesting, contentious and politicised court case where the heretofore monopoly of professional journalism, court reporting, was challenged by citizen journalists. The case concerned a 2014 sit down protest in Jobstown, Tallaght, a working-class suburb of Dublin, where a gonverment minister, Joan Burton TD, was blocked in her car for several hours by local protesters. A number of protesters, many months after the incident, were arrested and charged with false imprisonment.

This study investigates the impact of Dangote Noodles advertisements on consumer purchasing behaviour in SouthEast Nigeria. It employed the Cognitive Dissonance Theory and Social Exchange Theory to analyze the influence of advertisements on consumer attitudes, brand awareness, and purchasing decisions. A quantitative research design was used which is the descriptive survey. From a total population of 16,381,729, a sample size of 400 respondents was arrived at, using the Taro Yamane formula. Data were collected from 391 valid responses across three states-Anambra, Enugu, and Imo. The findings revealed that Dangote Noodles advertisements significantly influence consumer behaviour, with more than 97% of respondents indicating familiarity with the brand. Key factors such as emotional appeal, brand trust, and product visibility were identified as influential in shaping purchasing decisions. The study also highlighted the pivotal role of media platforms-including television, radio, and social media-in enhancing brand loyalty and fostering repeat purchases. Based on these findings, the study recommends that Dangote Noodles should focus on emphasizing product quality in its advertisements, consistently showcasing the product's superior quality and nutritional benefits. Additionally, it suggests expanding distribution channels to ensure broader availability in various retail formats, including local markets and supermarkets, while also establishing avenues for consumer feedback to better understand preferences and experiences. Finally, the study proposes that future research extend the scope of this investigation to explore broader market trends. Implementing these recommendations will enhance Dangote Noodles' advertising effectiveness, increase consumer engagement, and foster long-term brand loyalty in an increasingly competitive market.

The study reflects to examine how technology affected the Millennial age cohorts in India (1980-2000) combined their personal and professional lives. The study examined the challenges and roles of broadcast media in reportage of election violence. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interview and content analysis methods were employed to gather secondary data. Three veteran journalists each were purposely selected for in-depth interview from Nigerian Television Authority and African Independent Television. The study was anchored on Framing theory. The results revealed the roles of coverage of election violence is to report accurate information that is devoid of vulgarity, obscenity, bias in reporting election violence. Equally, the regularly format used in reporting election violence is straight news. Findings revealed that the sources of information on election violence are Independent National Electoral Commission officials, civil Society monitoring units, the press and electorates. It was also discovered that election observers, journalists and Nongovernmental organisations were involved in voters' education. Findings also showed that the nation lost both human and material resources during election violence. Broadcast Journalists faced difficulties during electoral violence in the hand of unscrupulous politicians and security officers, party and ethnic loyalists. Based on the study's findings, journalists report election violence as factual news. As a result, the study suggested that the media always support election education and refrain from portraying election violence with prejudice. The media should likewise avoid being exploited to fan the flames of ethnic and religious conflicts and remember their societal responsibility.

There has been significant recent interest in the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in social movements protesting against authoritarian regimes. Much of the literature on this topic can be framed in terms of dualities: seeing either technology or (less often) society as the cause of impacts characterised as either liberation or repression. This paper seeks to move beyond those dualities by using actor-network theory (ANT) to study the role of ICTs in Iran's Green Movement; specifically by applying Callon's moments of translation. This analysis turns the focus from causes or impacts of social movements, to the dynamics of their trajectory. It presents ICTs as an active actor within this social movement of protest; an actor which rapidly made this movement into a global network. Yet ICTs also betrayed the protest. They simultaneously worked for the Iranian regime. And they allowed a shallowness of translation which enabled quick problematisation, interessement and enrolment, but which equally enabled quick de-enrolment, and which undermined the full mobilisation of this social movement and ultimately led to its disintegration. Recognising the limits but also the originality of actor-network theory, the paper ends by suggesting directions for future ANT-based work on ICTs and social movements.

Dehydration, secondary to gastroenteritis, is one of the most common reasons for
office visits and hospital admissions in developed countries. It results from a decrease
in total body water content either due to less intake or more fluid loss. Common
symptoms of dehydration are dry mouth/tongue, thirst, headache, and lethargy. A
person can become dehydrated if they lose as little as 3% of their body weight from
water depletion. However, little or no information is available on the impact of diet to
the weight of such persons when dehydrated. In either of the two study centers, Benin
or Nnewi, majority of the children who had diarrhea were those whose main diet is
breast milk and solid food. For mild dehydration, we found that solid food is associated
with weight gain in children (mean weight: 12.167, CI: 9.5151-14.818, p-Value:
0.00207; for Benin) and (mean weight: 12.11, CI: 10.597-13.623, p-Value: 0.00014; for
Nnewi) using breast milk and water as a reference. In this study, we observed a weak
correlation between age and weight of the children. The observed increase in weight
among those with severe dehydration is found to be due to the kind of food they eat.
It is observed that children who suffered severe dehydration were given more of solid
food than other forms of diet. This will guide the quality of food given to children in
order to increase their weight whenever they loose weight as a result of dehydration.

In this chapter I discuss various dimensions of Internet activism in post-revolutionary Iran. In particular, I look at how the Internet has changed the ways Iranians engage in performing dissident activities while encountering various censorship measures from the state. For a post-revolutionary society engaged with global industrial and technological transformations and undergoing major socioeconomic and cultural changes, especially among the youth population, the new information communication technologies (ICTs) have facilitated rapid developments in information sharing in tandem with significant advances in computing, mobile telephones, fax machines, and satellite television. While the precise impact of the emerging technology on politics-specifically, instances of dissent through the Internet, with offline implications-is too early to be conclusively determined, Iranian online protests, which are linked to a long tradition of street protests dating back to the Constitutional Revolution (1906-1911), resemble many cases of Internetmediated political activisms around the world. Although varying greatly in objectives, tactics, organizational activism, expressions of dissent, and ideology, Internet activism has produced new forms of what Charles Tilly called " contentious performances" in collective participation, organization, and strategic communi cation practices (Tilly, 2004, p. 105). As a source of mediated practices, Internet activism can be spontaneous and participatory, mobilized and yet uncoordinated. John Thompson has described the dynamic of this kind of mediated action in terms of how actors respond to diverse situations to mobilize concerted action and yet communicate in uncoordinated ways (Thompson, 1995, pp. 112-113). As numerous others studies have also shown, the Internet is increasingly becoming an integral part of activism in the form of new mobilizations, organizations, and expressions of protest, which also

grateful to my mother for instilling the importance of education and always reminding me to save some money so as to be able to acquire an education that befits the lineage from which I come. A great tribute to my grandfather, Professor Walter Oyugi, who introduced me to the world of academia and ensured I did not follow any other trajectory. This study explored the effectiveness of participatory radio programmes in implementing
modern agricultural practices among smallholder farmers in Mpemba, a rural community in
Blantyre, Malawi. Modern agricultural systems are important for enhancing food security,
improving livelihoods, and fostering sustainable agricultural development, but their adoption
in rural areas remains limited due to challenges in information dissemination and traditional
farming practices. Participatory radio campaigns, characterized by interactive and locally
relevant content, have emerged as a promising tool to bridge the information gap and
promote knowledge exchange among farmers.The study investigated the impact of the Ulimi
Walero radio program aired on Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Radio 1, focusing
on its reach, the level of knowledge it imparts, and its influence on the adoption of modern
agricultural techniques. Using a quantitative and qualitative research design, data was
collected through interviews and questionnaires administered to farmers in Mpemba. The
study also applied the Diffusion of Innovation theory as a theoretical framework to
understand how new agricultural practices are communicated and adopted within the
community. Findings revealed that participatory radio campaigns have a significant reach and
are an important source of agricultural information for rural farmers. However, while the programmes successfully raise awareness and improve farmers’ knowledge of modern
practices, the rate of adoption is hindered by factors such as limited resources, traditional
beliefs, and a lack of follow-up support. The study highlights the need for strengthened
linkages between radio broadcasters, agricultural extension workers, and farmers to ensure the sustained adoption of modern practices.This research contributes to the understanding of the role of communication in agricultural development and offers recommendations for
improving the effectiveness of participatory radio campaigns, emphasizing the importance of interactivity, stakeholder involvement, and continuous support for farmers.

The current study was conducted to check the effect of high blood pressure on the health of mother and child living in south Asian region of Pakistan during all trimesters of pregnancy. For this retrospective research, 720 females during their deliveries were analyzed at Swat Medical College and Women's Hospital Mardan between June 2022 and June 2023. This current study found almost one fourth of the population suffer hypertensive disorders during any stage of pregnancy which leads to mild to severe pre-eclampsia and ultimately premature births. The observations indicated statistically high significance between hypertensive disorders and associated adverse symptoms like fetus with preterm delivery, c-sections, low birth weight, acute to chronic but reversible renal disorders, neonatal intensive care admissions and sometime central nervous system related disorders. So, this study concludes that more comprehensive parenteral care at the time of pregnancy and especially at the last trimesters. Keen attention towards symptoms and early diagnosis can help to reduce the severity of disease. The maternal and fetal health initiative schemes are required for public awareness.

Background: Contraception, which is also known as birth control, is the use of drugs, various devices, agents, sexual practices or surgical procedures to prevent conception or pregnancy. The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about the use of contraceptives and factors that influence their choice of contraceptives among women attending family planning clinic in a teaching hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional observational study on the knowledge and practice of family planning among women of reproductive age groups. Data were collected by selfadministered questionnaires. Information elicited by the questionnaire includes age and marital status, their knowledge of contraceptive usage and factors influencing the usage of contraceptive. Results: A total of 252 questionnaires were shared, collected and analyzed. Majority of the Respondents (50.4%) were within the age range (25-29) years. Most were married Christian civil servants who attained tertiary level of education. The decision on the choice of contraceptive usage was based on joint decision by the couples (88.2%). Majority of the respondents agreed that withdrawal method (23.4%) yielded the most effective. Most of the respondents got their contraceptives as at when due (50.0%) and most of them purchased from the pharmacy when not available in the clinic (48.5%). Most of the respondents knew the major side effects of the different types of contraceptives and this influenced their choice. Conclusion: The study revealed that the awareness of family planning was more among those women with higher educational background. This was evidenced by their choices of a wide variety of methods of family planning.

Background: The childhood age group is a special population that needs critical and special care. The increase in death tolls in children globally, owing majorly to preventable and treatable causes and diseases are a burden and require urgent and immediate attention and action to ensure sustainable progress towards achieving child survival goals. This study assessed mortality pattern of under-12 and discussed the associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional retrospective descriptive study of 4 years which spanned from January 2014 to December 2017 was carried out on the records of dead children who were 12 years and below using the death register at the health care facility. The data were summarized with descriptive and inferential statistics.

This goes without saying that media in popular culture often featured highly visible crimes to be portrayed as exaggerating and exhilarating phenomenon. Thus, this paper is set to acknowledge the ever-growing portrayals of the dynamic of crime in urban area presented in docuseries "Asumsi Distrik". Using Jeff Ferrell's cultural criminology framework, this study also viewed the depiction of the inhabitants in urban area to be categorized as "crime as culture". Moreover, Asumsi Distrik hereby posed as a medium to bring the visibility of crime of the powerful that often overlooked by the media.

Despite evidence of an upward trend in the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs), current media discourse suggests that older adults (those 60-plus) lag behind in terms of engagement with digital technology. Through a survey and interviews with older adults, we investigate how this population views its own digital skills, barriers to digital literacy, and the social and institutional support system it draws on for help with technology. A lack of skills and limited social and institutional systems make it difficult for older adults to gain experience and comfort with technology. However, support systems, such as family and peers, can help mediate older adults’ reluctance with technology. We propose a model with the aim of understanding the needs of older adults in gaining greater digital literacy.

Clear agricultural policies and strategies are very crucial for influencing the performance of agricultural extension and advisory services (AEAS). Malawi has implemented its agricultural extension policy titled "agricultural extension in the new millennium: towards pluralistic and demand driven services in Malawi" for a period of seventeen years. The policy specified seven guiding principles which include provision of demand-driven extension services, ensuring accountability, promoting user participation in extension financing, ensuring resource sustainability, ensuring equal access to extension and advisory services, promotion of pluralism and provision of decentralised but well-coordinated AEAS. The study assessed the effectiveness of four of the seven principles in ensuring user access to quality AEAS. The study used a mixed methods approach which included action research, focus group discussions, key informant interviews and review of various documents. The results show that the four guiding principles which included pluralism, demand-driven services, decentralised coordination and user participation in extension financing had some potential for a positive influence on increasing access to quality AEAS. Pluralism helped in increasing number of service providers thereby increasing farmer access but did not influence the quality of extension. Most of the farmers are not demanding for services and most districts do not have functional District Agriculture Extension Services System (DAESS) structures. Most service providers are not using DAESS structures and this is resulting in poor coordination of services. Malawi should put more efforts in implementing the policy if its fruits are to be fully realised. Particularly, institutionalization of DAESS structures and ensuring their effective operationalization will help to ensure that the benefits of the principles of demand driven services and decentralised coordination are realized. The country also needs to train and engage more extension workers in order to increase farmer access to quality extension services.

sosial media. Dinamika interaksi antar keduanya akan terlihat dari
pilihan sikap redaksi.

Al Jazeera English: discontinuità e conferme nel campo dell'informazione internazionale Al Jazeera English riprende e rielabora, più o meno esplicitamente, tutti i temi che erano emersi nel documento della Commissione Unesco (e che negli anni successivi erano stati assorbiti e rileleborati sia nella pubblica opinione internazionale che nel discorso tecnicoscientifico), in un canale che ambisce a competere direttamente con i modelli egemoni, con i quali intrattiene un rapporto ambiguo, perennemente in bilico tra mimesi e contestazione. In questo senso, Al Jazeera English può essere compreso a partire da quella che Homi Bhabha ha definito una contro-modernità postcoloniale 44 in cui nuovi attori a diversi livelli hanno assunto i modelli dominanti, per ibridarli con presupposti culturali differenti. Una modernità all'interno della quale i mezzi di comunicazione, combinati con l'influenza dei flussi migratori, oltre che finanziari, mediano sempre più in maniera decisiva le relazioni tra singoli e tra comunità, tra soggetti statali, corporativi e territoriali. In questa modernità complessa in cui si sovrappongono dimensioni nazionali, post-nazionali e diasporiche, 45 esiste quindi un modo di pensare le comunicazioni di massa alternativo a quello occidentale? Quale è, se esiste, la specificità del rapporto tra società e tecnologia in Voice of the Arabs nell'Egitto degli anni Cinquanta, degli "small media" della rivoluzione iraniana o dei social networks digitali nell'Egitto nel 2011? Da questo punto di vista i mezzi di comunicazione di massa dell'area mediorientale, così come di altre regioni extraoccidentali, sembrano costituire un universo che con la sua sola esistenza contribuisce a mettere in discussione l'impostazione lineare radicata in Europa e Nord America.
