Scientific Productivity

The practice of teleworking is being consistently and unprecedently used across multiple work sectors, including the research one, yet the direct and mediated links of specific telework designs with productivity are unclear, and analyses at multiple levels missing. Accordingly, this study aims at exploring the mediating role of the climate for well-being and well-being outcomes in the relationship between multiple components of teleworking and scientific productivity, both at the individual and team level. Data were collected from 358 members of 48 Spanish European Research Council (ERC)granted teams. Analyses were conducted both at the individual and team level, after checking for the relevant aggregation indexes. Telework components of quantity, frequency, flexibility, and voluntariness were found to have direct and mediated significant relationships with scientific productivity, confirming the need to investigate telework with a closer focus on how it is designed and implemented in the different teams. Specifically, climate for well-being, eudaimonic wellbeing, and negative emotions were found to play a relevant role in mediating the relationship between some telework components (i.e., telework flexibility and voluntariness) and scientific productivity. Also, telework quantity and frequency were found to have, respectively, positive and negative relationship with scientific productivity. Practical and theoretical implications are further discussed in the article.

Antarctica is a highly interesting region for ecologists because of its extreme climatic conditions and the uniqueness of its species. In this article, we describe the trends in Antarctic ecological research participation by Latin American countries. In a survey of articles indexed by the ISI Web of Science, we searched under the categories ''Ecology,'' ''Biodiversity Conservation'' and ''Evolutionary Biology'' and found a total of 254 research articles published by Latin American countries. We classified these articles according to the country of affiliation, kingdom of the study species, level of biological organization and environment. Our main finding is that there is a steady increase in the relative contribution of Latin American countries to Antarctic ecological research. Within each category, we found that marine studies are more common than terrestrial studies. Between the different kingdoms, most studies focus on animals and most studies use a community approach. The leading countries in terms of productivity were Argentina, Chile and Brazil, with Argentina showing the highest rate of increase.

El presente libro investiga la evolución del acceso abierto a la información científica relacionada con el medio ambiente en los países miembros de la Organización del Tratado de Cooperación Amazónica entre 2021 y 2023. Como objetivo tiene identificar patrones de producción científica en acceso abierto, así como las barreras y oportunidades que presenta este modelo para fomentar la investigación colaborativa y apoyar la conservación de la región amazónica. Mediante un análisis bibliométrico basado en el protocolo PRISMA, se analizaron más de mil publicaciones científicas disponibles en acceso abierto. Los resultados indican que Brasil es el principal productor de investigación en la región, seguido de Colombia y Ecuador, aunque aún persisten importantes desafíos como la brecha digital y la falta de infraestructura en otras zonas amazónicas. La discusión resalta cómo el acceso abierto ha facilitado la cooperación internacional, aunque se advierte que las disparidades en la disponibilidad de recursos limitan el impacto del conocimiento generado. En conclusión, el estudio subraya que el acceso abierto es esencial para promover la investigación y la toma de decisiones informadas en la Amazonía, pero se requiere un esfuerzo conjunto para superar las barreras estructurales que afectan la difusión equitativa del conocimiento científico en la región.

Aim and Scope: Stigma has changed and evolved over time with the progress of knowledge and humanity. The negative outcomes of stigma, such as social isolation, exclusion, poor treatment adherence, and limited access to healthcare services, have garnered interest among research communities. The complex nature of stigma as a socially constructed phenomenon and its continuous evolution raises the need to track changes and fit future interventions. Methods: We synthesize extant research on stigma and support through a bibliometric analysis of 257 articles investigating the stigma phenomenon. The study contributes to a comprehensive understanding and helps the translation of research findings into action to drive social change and evidence-based policies. Findings: Our analysis revealed a growing interest in the domain in recent years. The results show six main directions of research: (1) stigma as a barrier, (2) cultural contexts of stigma, (3) perceived stigma and coping strategies, (4) stories of experiences of stigma, (5) action to mitigate stigma, and (6) community stigma. This paper reports on a study that analyzed the research output of higher education systems in a select number of Latin American countries and its relationship to several socio-economic and technological success indicators. This was placed within a broader discussion of the changing role of the university in society. The study used the rankings of the countries surveyed with respect to two major indicators: 1. higher education and training (Global Competiveness Report 2012-2013) and 2. scientific productivity of higher education institutions (HEI) as measured by the number of research papers published in international, peer reviewed journals as archived in the Scopus Database (Elsevier B.V.) and available in the SIR Iberoamericano Ranking Reports 2009-2013. The relationship of both indicators with various socio-economic and technology indicators was examined to assess the extent to which the quality and scientific productivity of a country's higher education system affected a number of country performance indices such as global competitiveness, innovation, health and primary education, government effectiveness, knowledge and technology output and GDP per capita. The relationship between scientific productivity in the form of published, refereed papers and a country's investment in R&D, researcher headcount per million inhabitants and the quality of its research institutes was analyzed as well. The findings at the Latin American level were compared to the research effectiveness of higher education institutes at the global level. The study found that, notwithstanding the huge variation that existed between the countries studied in the survey, the education and training country rank and the country average HEI publication record correlates with several important socio-economic indicators. Although improvements have been made many Latin American countries still trail their global counterparts in the area of research and publication.

La publicación científica es la etapa final del ciclo investigativo, por lo que se deben estudiar los factores que se relacionan con su realización en el pregrado. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar los factores asociados a la publicación científica de estudiantes de Estomatología de siete universidades cubanas. Se diseñó un estudio multicéntrico, observacional y transversal con análisis de datos secundarios. Se investigó acerca del logro de las publicaciones científicas, otras variables socioeducativas y de participación en temas científicos. Se obtuvieron las razones de prevalencias ajustadas, los intervalos de confianza a 95 % (IC 95 %) y los valores p, mediante modelos lineales generalizados. This increase in education levels has generated many benefits to society, including more knowledgeable citizens, advanced economies, and enhanced longevity. We have also seen countries and universities invest heavily in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including health (STEM+) research and scientific output. This has resulted in unexpected pure exponential growth in science production around the world (see Figure 1). It was directed to rest and breeding sites of the vector, for which several areas comprising different number of non-adjacent and randomly chosen houses, with high and similar rates of infestation in the period before the treatment, were selected. challenges to global economies, particularly stock markets. Consequently, the pandemic's effects on stock markets opened diverse avenues for research. Scholars worldwide have sought to explore this topic from various perspectives. This article aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of studies on COVID-19 and the stock market in Iran by mapping and analyzing scientific research trends in this domain.

Se exponen los 50 artículos cubanos más citados en ciencias biomédicas en el Web of Science. Se explican las ventajas y problemas de los análisis de citas. Se utilizó como estrategia de búsqueda la palabra "Cuba" en el campo "Author Address". Se obtuvieron 7 141 artículos escritos por autores cubanos o con su colaboración , entre 1988 y 2003; de ellos, se citó al menos una vez el 50,8%. El promedio de citas por cada artículo fue de 2.68. El 78% de los artículos fue generado con ayuda internacional. Se analizan brevemente los campos temáticos tratados por los 50 artículos más citados, así como las instituciones mejor representadas. Se concluye que los artículos compilados pueden considerarse como los que mayor influencia han ejercido sobre la comunidad científica internacional, si se considera su reconocimiento en la literatura médica indizada en la más importante base de datos bibliográfica en ciencia y tecnología. With the increase in the number of universities in recent years, university rankings, which evaluate the success and development of universities, have become significantly important. These rankings are determined by various parameters and their corresponding weights, established through an inter-university ranking system based on verifiable data used for academic evaluation. The rapid rise of universities in global rankings is driven by growing academic, student, and parent interest. However, these rankings often fail to reflect the true desires of students and do not always adequately measure academic productivity. This study aims to determine the steps Turkish universities should take to improve their standing in these ranking systems, using both global and national data. In the research, the academic performance of 20 research universities in Türkiye in 2022 was evaluated and compared based on the weight of 8 criteria. The criterion weights were calculated using the Entropy method, and performance rankings were calculated using the PROMETHEE method. The results were presented in a table showing the performance rankings of these universities across the 8 criteria, and the competitive priorities of the universities were interpreted in relation to their performances. The study found that, among the eight criteria determining the performance of research universities in Türkiye, the criterion with the highest weight was the number of faculty members per student, while the criterion with the lowest weight was the number of citations. ecosistema desempeña un papel crucial en el control del clima, el ciclo del agua
y la captura de carbono, siendo indispensable para la estabilidad ambiental
global (Filho et al., 2021; Yuan et al., 2022).

The "17th Iberian Symposium of Marine Biology Studies" took place in San Sebastian (Spain), in September 2012. This contribution is an introduction to a special issue collating the most challenging papers submitted by Portuguese and Spanish scientists to the symposium. The text was structured as a novel, with the three main parts of a novel: (i) Setup: a historical context, from old times to the 1970's. This part presents the main Iberian scientific contribution to marine science, since the 15th Century, as a precedent to modern scientific research; (ii) Conflict: from the 1970's to the economic crisis. This part presents the evolution of Iberian research production, based upon a bibliometric study, from 1974 to 2012; and (iii) Resolution: what for the future?, which shows the main challenges, proposed by the authors, to the European research initiative 'Horizon 2020', including aspects such as the need of knowledge-base for marine management, the marine research as a potential source of jobs, the ecosystem-based approach, human activities and Marine Spatial Planning, moving from fisheries to aquaculture, or global change issues, among others.

This study aims to analyse the bibliometric characteristics of 686 research articles published between 2008 and 2022 in bilig, which was published in 1996 and indexed by the Social Sciences Citation Index since 2008. Within the scope of the study, co-authorship, countries, and authorship trends in the context of institutional network analysis were examined and citation analysis was carried out. The methodology of the study consists of content and citation analysis. VOSviewer, a software tool, was used to create and visualise bibliometric networks. As a result of the analyses, it was seen that most of the studies published in bilig were in Turkish, and in terms of the number of authors, single-author articles were found the most. In the evaluation made according to the institutions, it was seen that the most contributions were made by researchers from Hacettepe University, Gazi University and Ankara University. How we collaborate and compete to find solutions to the problems and challenges of our age vastly impacts our individual and group success and well-being. Interdependent, the institutions of education and science have dramatically expanded. Today, scientists in nearly all countries contribute to our shared stores of knowledge, with research universities the driving force behind unexpected pure exponential growth in scientific production. Los objetivos de este trabajo son: (1) determinar el valor de las variables analizadas para discriminar la producción científica de los países; y (2) establecer las relaciones de similitud entre los países, con especial énfasis en la situación relativa de Argentina. Para el análisis se utilizó SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SCIJCR) que ofrece, a partir de Scopus, indicadores bibliométricos de 239 países durante el lapso 1996-2016. De este conjunto se tomó una muestra de 30 de los 46 países que produjeron más de 100.000 documentos. Como variables se utilizaron los siete indicadores brindados por SCIJCR. Las relaciones de similitud se estimaron mediante análisis multivariado, empleándose el programa PAST 3.16. Dos grupos de variables permiten discriminar a los países: (A) Documentos, Documentos citables, Citaciones, Autocitaciones, e índice H; y (B) Citaciones por documento y Porcentaje de colaboración internacional. De tal modo, se observan cuatro grupos de países: (1) con altos valores de las variables A y B; (2) con altos valores de las variables A y bajos de las B; (3) con bajos valores de las variables A y B; y (4) con bajos valores de las variables A y elevados de las B. Para el procesamiento y análisis de los resultados se utilizó el paquete estadístico Epi Info (versión 6.04). En la serie predominaron el grupo etario de 42-52 años (38,9 %), el sexo masculino (66,7 %); en tanto, la fiebre (100,0 %), el dolor retroorbitario, los movimientos oculares (83,3 %), y las artralgias con mialgias (77,8 %) fueron los síntomas clínicos más frecuentes. La evolución favorable en la mayoría de los pacientes puso de manifiesto la necesidad de un control epidemiológico de esta afección para disminuir su incidencia entre los colaboradores cubanos en el exterior. The study attempts a mapping of Artificial Intelligence (AI) research productivity in India from 2014 to 2023 by quantitatively analysing the publications covered in the Web of Science (WoS) database. Artificial intelligence is a fast-evolving topic that involves the creation and implementation of computational systems that mimic human intelligence, hence fostering innovation in a variety of domains. For the period covered in the study, the WoS indexes 5844 papers, the most productive year is 2023, with 1823 publications. The mean of total citations per year varies from 2.27 to 7.63, the highest value corresponds to the year 2021. For the top ranking 10 authors, their h=index is in the range of 21 to 24, g-index 29 to 55 and m-index 2.4 to 5.5. The study also identified the top ranking institutions contributing to AI research in India and the most preferred sources carrying the papers.

The aim of the study is to assess the scientific productivity of Indian Scientists over a period of ten years from 2013 to 2022 by examining their publications covered in the Web of Science (WoS) database. A total of 15,746 contributions were identified and their scientometric parameters were collected and analysed. The analysis include the annual number of contributions during the period, total number of citations received and the annual mean citations per contribution. The top ranking 25 scientists were identified and their contributions were further analysed based on the number of contributions in their names, the number of citations received, and the scientometric measures like h-index, g-index and m-index.

En Chile hay 67 centros de excelencia. Esto es: organizaciones financiadas por el Estado, que pueden estar adscritas a más de una universidad y a instituciones no universitarias, cuyo objetivo es la formación de científicos y la generación de innovación y tecnología en diversas áreas. Basada en un estudio etnográfico en uno de estos centros, la columna presenta la idea de “culturas de excelencia” como una forma de llevar la labor científica más allá de las universidades. La investigación académica es solo una de las muchas tareas relevantes que pueden hacer científicas/os y académicas/os, sostienen las y los autores; éstos podrían tener otras alternativas laborales, más conectadas con sus contextos, sin ir en desmedro de la excelencia de sus actividades.

The study presents the trends in authorship pattern and author's collaborative research in Information Technology with a sample of 17917 articles collect from LISA during 2000-2009.The average number of authors per article is 1.80. In the study the degree of collaboration (C) during the overall 10 years (2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009) is 0.71 but the year wise degree of collaboration is almost same in all the years of mean value 0.49. In the 10 years of period, the multi-authorship articles are higher and predominant on single authorship. The study found that the researches in Information Technology are keep toward team research or group research rather than solo research.

The study explored the cross-border diversity in authorship and editorship in international library and information science (LIS) journals published from India. Online LIS journals of Indian origin which contain the word “international” or “world” in their title were identified. The data on number of articles published in these journals since their first issue was collected. Of them, four LIS journals which had highest number of articles were chosen for the study. Out of total number of 1626 articles published during the period 2011-2018, 1485 (91.33%) articles have been contributed by Indian authors (82.36% male and 17.64% female). This paper reports on a study that analyzed the research output of higher education systems in a select number of Latin American countries and its relationship to several socioeconomic and technological success indicators. This was placed within a broader discussion of the changing role of the university in society. The study used the rankings of the countries surveyed with respect to two major indicators: 1. higher education and training (Global Competiveness Report 2012-2013) and 2. scientific productivity of higher education institutions (HEI) as measured by the number of research papers published in international, peer reviewed journals as archived in the Scopus Database (Elsevier B.V.) and available in the SIR Iberoamericano Ranking Reports 2009-2013. The relationship of both indicators with various socioeconomic and technology indicators was examined to assess the extent to which the quality and scientific productivity of a country's higher education system affected a number of country performance indices such as global competitiveness, innovation, health and primary education, government effectiveness, knowledge and technology output and GDP per capita. The relationship between scientific productivity in the form of published, refereed papers and a country's investment in R&D, researcher headcount per million inhabitants and the quality of its research institutes was analyzed as well. The findings at the Latin American level were compared to the research effectiveness of higher education institutes at the global level. The study found that, notwithstanding the huge variation that existed between the countries studied in the survey, the education and training country rank and the country average HEI publication record correlates with several important socioeconomic indicators. Although improvements have been made many Latin American countries still trail their global counterparts in the area of research and publication.

The study is based on the Scientometrics analysis of 171 research articles published during the periods of 2011-2015. Metric studies of information are viewed as a field that cuts across several different areas. The present paper is aimed at visualizing the configuration of metric studies of information in papers indexed in the database Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) in the period 1978-2013. A diachronic analysis was conducted of the distribution of the periodic scientific production of these studies to identify the most outstanding authors in the topic, the scientific collaboration network, and the main areas, journals, languages and countries in which the topic is present. The study sample consisted of 768 papers from the SciELO database containing terms related to the field. Output indicators were generated, as well as a matrix with absolute frequencies of co-authored papers. An increase in the number of papers took place in the early 2000s. The 42 most productive authors published 167 papers, representing 21.7 % of the corpus. Sixteen of the most productive authors were Brazilian. Collaboration was outstanding between C.

Citation analysis of all the journal articles published in the journal 'University News' from January 2004 to December 2008 is carried out in 5 volume and 261 issues in its 1949. The citations taken for the study are 5968. The maximum number of citations were referred in 2007 to 2008 that is 2950 (50.6%), the most cited type of document is book 1549 (26.39%), the maximum number of citations were from India that is 3675 (62.61%), in authorship pattern single author citations are dominant that others that is 3011 (51.30%).

Mit den drei Disziplinen Ökonomie, Soziologie und Politikwissenschaft kann es die großen Problemstellungen aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln analysieren und damit ein kompletteres Verständnis wirtschaftlicher und gesellschaftlicher Zusammenhänge ermöglichen. Um sich für den Wettbewerb zu rüsten, muss das IHS in sein Humankapital, das methodische Rüstzeug, die institutionelle Detailkenntnis und die Reputation seiner ExpertInnen investieren. Fairer Wettbewerb braucht gleich lange Spieße. Müssen Institute gleiche Aufgaben erfüllen, dann müssen auch die Kosten zu gleichen Teilen mit einer Basisfinanzierung abgedeckt werden. Deshalb braucht das IHS eine Basisfinanzierung für seine akademischen Aufgaben ähnlich wie für Universitäten und für die angewandte Forschung ähnlich wie für angewandte Forschungsinstitute.

Olcay ÖZDEMİR 1 Öz: Amaç: Bibliyometrik analizler; basılmış makalelerin, yazarların, dergilerin, yayın sahibi kurumların araştırılmasında ve ülkelerin bilimsel etkinliğinin ortaya konmasında önemli bir analiz tipidir. ULAKBİM bünyesinde bibliyometrik araştırmalar yürütülmekle beraber, endodonti alanı ile ilgili TRDİZİN indeks değerlendirmesi şu ana kadar bildirilmemiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türk veritabanı "TRDİZİN"de taranan endodonti alanında çalışma trendlerinin belirlenerek verilerin sayısal analizini sunmaktır. Gereç ve Yöntem: "Endodonti" ve "kök kanal tedavisi" anahtar kelimeleri Türkçe ve İngilizce olarak aratılarak TRDİZİN veritabanında ulaşılan endodonti alanını direk ilgilendiren bütün yayınlar analiz edildi. Editöre mektup ve endodonti ile direk olarak bağlantısı bulunmayan yayınlar çalışma dışı bırakıldı. Yayınların başlığı, ilk yazar, kurum, şehir, ülke, yazar sayısı, dergi, atıf sayısı, çalışma tipi ve kaydedildi. Bulgular: Toplamda ulaşılan 1995-2021(Mart) yıllarını kapsayan 1077 yayından dublikasyonlar ve alan dışı çalışmalar çıkarılmıştır. Dahil edilen yayınlar en fazla Türkçe olmak üzere üç dilde yapılmıştır. En fazla yayın gönderen ülke olan Türkiye'yi Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti takip etmektedir. Ankara ili en çok yayına sahipken İstanbul ikinci sırada yer almaktadır. Diğer yıllara göre karşılaştırıldığında en fazla yayın 2018 yılında yapılmıştır. Çalışmaların büyük çoğunluğu özgün araştırma makalesi olmakla beraber sadece ulusal veritabanında taranan yayınların uluslararası veritabanında da taranan makalelere göre atıf oranlarının düşük olduğu gözlenmiştir. Sonuç: Bu analiz, Türkiye'de endodonti alanında artan araştırma eğilimini ortaya koymaktadır. The main aim of this article was to describe the academic teachers’ scientific efficiency at the University of Rzeszow (UR), including: (1) the qualification of the fields of science where the academic teachers are in the world scientific environment as well as (2) to identify those of them who are functioning in the world scientific environment – they are the most often quoted by others scientists. The analyses were taken on three bases of the ISI Web of Science. The authors analysed articles published between 2005 and 2009 year by academic teachers from the University of Rzeszow.
