According to Hirsch (2005) a researcher has an h-index hif h of his /her P articles received at least h citations each and the rest (P-h) articles have received not more than h citations each. A higher h-index for a scientist is indicative of the more scholarly nature of his /her output. A scientist or scholar’s productivity and the impact of their publications on citations are both measured by the h-index (Aria & Cuccurullo, 2017). Because the h-index gives high sensitivity to the citations of highly cited papers, some other variants were also proposed as alternative measures. One such index is the g-index. A set of papers is said to have a g- index g if g is the highest rank such that the top g papers have together at least g? citations while the top g+1 papers have less than (g+1)? citations (Egghe, 2006). Another variant of the h-index of an author is m-index which displays h-index per year since the year of his / her first publication. The h-index tends to increase with career length, and m-index can be used in situations where this is a shortcoming, such as comparing researchers within a field but with very different career lengths. A higher h-index indicates an unbroken research activity of a scientist since the first publication. Table 4 gives the h-index, g-index and m-index of the top 25 scientists. The total number of publications and total and the year of publication of the first paper are also included. The h-index or Hirsch index is perhaps the most known quantitative bibliometric index.
