The use of the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various professional fields is becoming more noticeable these days. New trends require professionals to adapt the new reality and make effective use of AI technologies. In the case of journalism, generative AI tools enhance the automatic creation of journalistic content by enabling personalized news as well as real-time reporting. While AI can be used in newsrooms to aid the demanding work of journalists and reduce costs for news organizations, its integration raises significant ethical, legal and quality control concerns, including issues of quality, bias, authenticity, and intellectual property. Recent advances in AI, such as deep learning and computer vision, have shown significant potential in the creation of highly aesthetic visual material. In this article we focus on the transformative impact of AI generative tools on visual journalism, and we present the opportunities as well as the challenges arising from their use, identifying both advantages and disadvantages for visual journalism.

Bu bölümde, yapay zekânın medya okuryazarlığı eğitimine entegrasyonu kuramsal ve eleştirel bir perspektifle ele alınmaktadır. Dijital çağın medya ortamında, verilere erişim, yorumlama, sorgulama, analiz etme ve üretme alışkanlıkları değişmiş; bu değişim, medya okuryazarlığını geleneksel tanımlarının ötesine taşımıştır. Yapay zekâ, özellikle dezenformasyonla mücadelede, verilerin kaynağını sorgulamada ve eleştirel farkındalığın artmasında önemli etkilere sahiptir. Bu sebeple, medya okuryazarlığı becerilerinin geliştirilmesi, hem dijital çağın bir gerekliliği olarak karşımıza çıkmakta hem de yapay zekâ araçlarını bilinçsiz şekilde kullanmanın doğurabileceği olumsuz sonuçlara bir siper görevi sağlayabilmektedir. Bu noktada, yapay zekâ sadece bilişimin bir aracı değil, aynı zamanda medya okuryazarlığının pedagojik amaçlarını tekrar yapılandırabilecek bir bileşen olma potansiyeline sahiptir. Bu bakış açısından yola çıkarak bu bölümde, yapay zekâ ve medya okuryazarlığına ilişkin mevcut alan yazın taranmış, yapay zekâ uygulamalarının medya okuryazarlığı eğitimini nasıl destekleyebileceğine yer verilmiştir. Bölümde öncelikle yapay zekânın tarihsel gelişimi, yapay zekâ türlerine yer verilmiş, ardından yapay zekâ ve medya okuryazarlığı kavramlarının kesişim noktaları kuramsal literatür çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca, yapay zekâ teknolojilerinin eğitsel bağlamda kullanımıyla birlikte ortaya çıkan etik, kültürel ve politik risklere de dikkat çekilmiştir. Sonuç olarak ise, medya okuryazarlığı eğitiminde, yapay zekâya eleştirel ve etik bir perspektifle yer verilmesi gerektiği savunulmuştur.

The recent COVID-19 health crisis has shone a spotlight on disinformation as the circulation of false information became more and more prominent. What the World Health Organization (WHO) has defined as an ‘infodemic’ poses a great risk for democracies and for society in general. In this context, public television channels, with their regional scope, actively participate in the fight against misinformation. This research aims to identify and classify the different verification initiatives and technological tools, as well as the different strategies and codes used in fact-checking tasks by European broadcasters belonging to the CIRCOM network. Artificial intelligence and robotic technologies hold significance beyond the realm of natural sciences.
While AI technologies introduce new topics from a technological standpoint, they simultaneously spark
new discussions in social, philosophical, and theological contexts. In the social sciences, debates around
concepts such as "Posthumanism" and "Transhumanism" suggest that AI, beyond its technological
aspects, will induce changes in the ontological domain of humanity. Furthermore, discussions within
the framework of "Apocalyptic AI" highlight the philosophical and theological implications of where
AI might lead humanity in the future. This paper will explore whether the possibility of creating nonhuman
entities through artificial intelligence has a foundation within Semitic religious traditions
(Judaism, Islam, and Christianity), and how historical studies and evaluations in this context have been
conducted. Ethical and religious debates are fundamentally important in the development of AI.
Additionally, the paper will evaluate whether there is a religious significance to the future trajectory of
AI and if some of the underlying motifs in AI research are rooted in religious concepts. The presentation
will revolve around the thesis that contemporary AI technologies have a historical and future trajectory
that is intertwined with.

Yapay zeka bu literatür taramasına nasıl dahil oldu? Bu inceleme, bir Google Drive klasöründe saklanan yaklaşık 15 yıllık okuma notlarıma dayanmaktadır. Tüm belgelerimi indirdim ve ChatGPT üzerinde oluşturduğum özel bir GPT'ye yükledim. Bu özel GPT, ChatGPT altyapısını kullandı ancak bilgi tabanı olarak yalnızca okuma notlarımı kullandı. Bu bilgi tabanı yaklaşık on bin sayfadan oluşuyordu. ChatGPT ve Claude.ai'den bu sayfalardaki yapay zeka ile ilgili tüm notları derlemelerini istedim. Sonucu doğrulamak için YZ botlarına listeleme için bana açık alıntılar vermeleri talimatını verdim. Okuma notlarımı bir makale formatına dönüştürmek için Claude.ai'yi kullandım. Sonunda, neredeyse hepsi İngilizce olan notlarımı Türkçeye çevirmek için DeepL'i kullandım. Son olarak, okuyuculara yönelik diğer tavsiyeleri listelemek için Perplexity'yi kullandım. It is not uncommon for a news audience to see stories or headlines about science that seem too good to be true. Headlines such as, "Scientists Say Smelling Farts Might Prevent Cancer," (Stampler, 2014) or "Bananas as good as drugs for treating HIV, say scientists" (Arkless Gray, 2010) are not uncommon. Not only are these headlines flashy enough to get the attention of a wide audience, they go beyond distributing the facts and wade into the waters of Yellow Journalism. In fact, much of the news distributed today might be considered such milky fare even by passive audience members. Bu çalışma, yapay zekanın (YZ) istihbarat sistemlerinde yol açtığı yapısal değişiklikleri ele alarak, istihbarat anlayışında ortaya çıkan yeni paradigmaları analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Günümüzün hızla değişen küresel güvenlik ortamı, devletleri daha çevik, vizyonlu ve teknoloji odaklı istihbarat sistemlerine yönlendirmektedir. YZ teknolojilerinin stratejik olarak entegre edilmesi, veri toplama, analiz, değerlendirme ve karar alma gibi temel işlevlerde önemli dönüşümler yaratmaktadır.

Makale, YZ'nin sunduğu verimlilik, yüksek bilgi işleme kapasitesi, kaynak çeşitliliği ve veri analitiği süreçlerine katkıları üzerinde dururken; aynı zamanda bu teknolojilerin barındırdığı güvenlik açıkları, manipülasyon riskleri ve etik konuları da vurgulamaktadır. Özellikle  sahtecilik, ve veri mahremiyeti gibi potansiyel tehditler, YZ' nin istihbarat uygulamalarındaki risk unsurlarını ortaya koymaktadır.

Ayrıca, YZ'nin adalet, hesap verebilirlik ve bireysel hakların korunması politikalarıyla ne ölçüde uyumlu olduğu da değerlendirilmektedir. Toplumsal güven ve kamu politikalarının çerçeveleri, etik boyutuyla kapsamlı biçimde ele alınmaktadır.

Media codes of honor are among the basic pillars that contribute to organizing media work and ensuring the quality of media practice in various parts of the world. These charters gain special importance in light of the rapid development witnessed by the media sector and the increasing challenges related to professional ethics and audience rights. This research addresses media codes of honor at the international and regional levels, as it highlights their role in organizing media activity and ensuring respect for human and moral values in the transmission of information. The research also discusses forms of media ethics related to professional transactions and relations between media professionals and the public, and media work ethics that guide media professionals in providing content that reflects the values of integrity and credibility. Through this research, we seek to shed light on the importance of media codes of honor in enhancing media professionalism and ensuring a positive impact on societies. This research examines media codes of honor by addressing a set of topics related to media work ethics at the international and regional levels, with a focus on how to organize this media activity through codes and ethics Specific. The researcher concludes her study with a set of recommendations that call for strengthening media professionals' commitment to ethical charters and developing media legislation in accordance with international and regional standards. The results also highlight the importance of strengthening media ethics to ensure the credibility of the media and enhance its role in serving society.

The study aims to explore the extent to which Jordanian e-news sites rely on artificial intelligence applications in their news content. The researchers will use a media survey methodology, and the sample will consist of 45 editors-in-chief and editors from 10 Jordanian news sites, namely: Ammon, Khabrny, Joe24, Saraya, Amman Net, Jafra, Crown News, Petra, Kingdom, and Roya. The researcher will use an electronic questionnaire, which led to several findings, the most significant of which are: Many news and media sites have introduced artificial intelligence systems to enhance the services they provide to the public. A significant number of journalistic and electronic media websites have shown interest in data analysis tools for their media services. Electronic news sites are clearly striving to improve their capabilities in using artificial intelligence technologies to enhance the services they provide to the Jordanian audience. Additionally, most electronic media websites have expressed a willingness to develop a plan to improve cybersecurity systems to protect against hacking and intrusion attempts, safeguarding their data and the AI systems that operate continuously.AI systems in media organizations also aim to enhance the news experience for users by enriching media services with modern, communicative content.

This article examines how automation is used by news organizations in creating content and how it infl uences current journalistic models, professionalism and ethical issues. The analysis is based on series of interviews with key managerial staff, editors and developers at news organizations in which automation is implemented in news production process.

Yapay zeka (YZ) ve makine öğrenimi (MÖ), gastronomi dünyasında devrim yaratma potansiyeline sahip iki yenilikçi teknolojidir. Bu makale, YZ ve MÖ’nün gastronomi alanında nasıl uygulandığını ve akıllı mutfakların yükselişini ele almaktadır. Geleneksel mutfak anlayışının ötesine geçen bu teknolojiler, yemek hazırlama, pişirme ve sunum süreçlerini optimize ederek hem profesyonel şefler hem de ev aşçıları için yeni ufuklar açmaktadır. YZ ve MÖ, veri analitiği, görüntü tanıma ve robotik gibi alanlarda gastronomiye entegrasyonu ile mutfaklardaki verimliliği artırmaktadır. Örneğin, akıllı mutfak cihazları, yemek tariflerini analiz ederek kullanıcıya en uygun pişirme yöntemlerini sunabilir veya en taze malzemeleri seçerek optimum lezzet ve besin değerine ulaşılmasını sağlayabilir. Ayrıca, robotik teknolojiler sayesinde yemek hazırlama süreçleri otomatikleştirilebilir ve tekrarlayan görevler insan müdahalesine gerek kalmadan yerine getirilebilir. Çalışmanın amacı dar anlamda gazeteciliğin, geniş anlamda ise enformatik içerik üretiminin değişen doğasını değerlendirerek, haberciliğin kim (insan vs. robot) tarafından yapılması gerektiği sorusuna yanıt aramaktır. Haberde manipülasyonun ve yanlılığın yeni bir olgu olmadığı açıktır; yeni olan bunun farkına varılmasındaki zorluklar/olanaksızlıklardır. İçeriğin kişiselleştirildiği ve algoritmaların medya işletmelerinin beklentileri doğrultusunda şekillendirildiği günümüzde haberde nesnellik, habercinin tarafsızlığı ya da olgulara/olayın taraflarına mesafeliliği gibi konu başlıkları hızla önemini yitirmektedir. Bu kapsamda çalışma ile haber teorisinin geleceğine ilişkin tartışmalara katkı sağlanması hedeflenmiştir.

“Dijital dünya”, dijital teknolojilerin ve internetin yaygın kullanımı ile şekillenen, fiziksel dünyadan farklı bir ortamı ifade eder. Dijital dünya, geniş veri yığınları ve iletişim ağlarıyla yapay zekânın gelişimi ve uygulanması için zengin bir zemin sağlar. Yapay zekânın temel çalışma prensiplerinden biri olan algoritmalar, belirli bir problemi çözmek veya bir görevi gerçekleştirmek için adım adım izlenen prosedürler veya kurallar kümesidir. Algoritmalar, birçok dijital hizmetin, uygulamanın ve platformun arkasında çalışan gizli motorlardır. Buna rağmen “Algoritma tiranlığı”, dijital dünyada algoritmaların aşırı ve kontrolsüz şekilde kullanılması sonucu, insanların günlük yaşamları ve kararları üzerinde büyük bir etki ve kontrol sahibi olmalarını ifade eden bir kavramdır. Bu kavram, algoritmaların ve yapay zekânın hayatımızın birçok alanında nasıl baskın hale geldiğini ve bu durumun olası olumsuz sonuçlarını vurgular. Çünkü algoritmalar, kullanıcıların verilerini toplar ve analiz eder. Bununla beraber algoritmaların sürekli izleme ve değerlendirme yapması, bireylerin özgürlüklerini kısıtlamakta ve kendi kararlarını verme yetilerini zayıflatmaktadır. Bu yönüyle algoritmalar, bilgi akışını kontrol edebilir ve kamuoyunu yönlendirebilir. Buradan hareketle çalışmanın amacı; algoritmaların sosyal sistemlere entegrasyonu arttıkça, bu sistemlerdeki yanlılıkların sosyal yapılar üzerindeki büyüyen etkisini tartışmaktır. Bu amaçla; yapay zekâ ve algoritma kavramlarıyla ilgili kavramsal ve kuramsal literatür taramasının ardından, “algoritma tiranlığı” olgusu üzerinden eleştirel boyutta sosyo-teknik analiz yapılacaktır.

The ‘digital world’ refers to an environment different from the physical world, shaped by the widespread use of digital technologies and the Internet. The digital world provides a rich ground for the development and application of artificial intelligence with its vast data stacks and communication networks. Algorithms, one of the basic working principles of artificial intelligence, are a set of procedures or rules that are followed step by step to solve a specific problem or perform a task. Algorithms are the hidden engines behind many digital services, applications and platforms. Nevertheless, ‘Algorithm tyranny’ is a concept that refers to the excessive and uncontrolled use of algorithms in the digital world, giving them a great influence and control over people’s daily lives and decisions. This concept emphasises how algorithms and artificial intelligence have become dominant in many areas of our lives and the possible negative consequences of this situation. Because algorithms collect and analyse users’ data. However, the constant monitoring and evaluation of algorithms restricts the freedom of individuals and weakens their ability to make their own decisions. In this respect, algorithms can control the flow of information and direct public opinion. From this point of view, the aim of this study is to discuss the growing impact of biases in these systems on social structures as the integration of algorithms into social systems increases. For this purpose, after a conceptual and theoretical literature review on artificial intelligence and algorithms, a critical socio-technical analysis will be made on the phenomenon of ‘algorithm tyranny’.

Son yıllarda popülaritesi ve kullanım alanı artan yapay zeka yazılımlarının çeşitlilik kazanması ve farklı amaçlara hitap eden özelliklerinin geliştirilmesi araştırmalara konu olmaktadır. Farklı meslek gruplarından pek çok kişi tarafından kullanılan yapay zeka yazılımlarında yapılan istem girişleriyle elde edilen yanıtlar değişkenlik göstermektedir. Bu değişkenlikler dakika, saat, konum farkına, istem girişinin yapılışına göre ve kullanılan dilin kibarlık düzeyine göre izlenmektedir. Bu araştırma kapsamında, Türkiye’de yapay zeka ve haber çevirileri hakkında yürütülen lisansüstü tezler ve bilimsel araştırmalar sınıflandırılmış ve ardından yapay zeka yazılımı olan ChatGPT-4o kullanılmış ve bu yazılımın haber metni üretimi istenmiştir. ChatGPT-4o’dan ideolojik bir içerik olarak Filistin ve İsrail arasında yaşanan son olaylar hakkında metin üretmesi ve ardından bu metni Filistin ve İsrail’i destekler nitelikte iki farklı şekilde çevirmesi istenmiştir. Haber metninin Türkçe, çevirilerin ise İngilizce olması istenmiştir. Alınan haber metni ve çevirilerinin ardından, ChatGPT-4o ile röportaj yapılmıştır. Araştırma yöntemi olarak, Türkiye’de yürütülen lisansüstü tezlerin ve bilimsel araştırmaların, ChatGPT-4o çevirilerinin ve ChatGPT-4o ile yapılan röportajın betimsel analiz yöntemiyle incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında açık kaynaklı yapay zeka yazılımının ne derece taraflı/tarafsız metin üretimi ve çeviri yapabildiği sorgulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler neticesinde, ChatGPT-4o’ın doğru veri sağlama, tarafsız metin üretimi, ideolojik çeviri yapma durumları incelenmiş ve genel çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur. Genel olarak, yapay zeka ile haber metinleri üretmek, kolaylık, hız, zaman ve verimlilik açısından avantajlar sunar. Ayrıca, otomatik içerik oluşturma, kapsamlı verilerin analizi, kişiselleştirilmiş içerik üretimi, dil ve çeviri hizmetleri, yazma ve düzenleme, son düzenleme, araştırma konularına ve kaynaklarına erişim ve kapsam ve dolayısıyla maliyet tasarrufu faydalı olarak görülmektedir.

This paper seeks to justify why journalism is at the cutting edge of this revolution with Artificial Intelligence (AI); it has become an essential component of various industries. In this study, the author examines the effects of the integration of AI into the current news media industry with an emphasis on the use of AI in executing analytic functions such as writing and verification of information. As for strong points and prospects, AI contributes improvements in terms of effectiveness and time efficiency, yet it brings into focus certain drawbacks concerning ethical aspects of carrying fake news, distorted information, etc., alongside the problem of algorithms' credibility of algorism-based journalism. In this empirical qualitative case study, the author examines the benefits and limitations of AI's implementation in journalism. On this point, it presents literature gaps that exist on the effects of AI on ethical considerations and looks at how such organizations can balance the need to use technology and still produce work of the highest ethical standards. According to the findings, while AI may step up the accuracy and credibility that is required in news dissemination, its abuse may also lead to increased biased and fake news. Overall, this research calls for adopting AI technologies in newsrooms, but only after putting this article's findings into practice alongside human oversight and ethics. Finally, the paper concludes the future of AI journalism and emphasizes sustainable and more responsible ways to create technological advancement within the field of Journalism to make more truthful and reliable news.

This book, adhering to the dominant and critical approaches in communication studies, explains new theoretical concepts with examples, their definitions and pioneers. Under the heading of dominant approaches, the language of new media, participatory culture, network society, technological transformation and persuasion technology approaches are defined. In the context of critical approaches, the concepts of simulacrum, digital socialism, online movements, surveillance society, digital labour, digital loneliness, collective intelligence and political economy are explained. In the new terminologies section, the concepts of big data, artificial intelligence, semantic web, digital addiction, mixed reality and digital diseases are given in the context of the concept of virtuality. Deniz Yengin holds a Ph.D. in Informatics from Marmara University and currently serves as a faculty member at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He specializes in media-related research and is an author of multiple books, primarily exploring the future impact of New Media on society. Tamer Bayrak completed a Ph.D. in Public Relations and Publicity, with a focus on eye-tracking technology. Today, the fairness of artificial intelligence applications has become a critical issue due to their widespread use in situations where vital decisions are made and in many securitycritical environments. Because the use of these systems has started to produce erroneous results in various aspects such as fairness, bias, and privacy over time. In response, technologies have started to be developed to deal with unexpected results from artificial intelligence, and companies have generally focused on algorithm-oriented errors to solve problems. However, the solutions used generally do not work in many artificial intelligence algorithms. This is because it is not only the algorithm that causes the problem but also the data itself, where, for example, in deep learning, the cause-effect relationship cannot be easily established. From this perspective, our focus in this paper is on how the data should be, which is not a matter of statistics. It may even vary from country to country and culture to culture due to context. For this reason, the contribution of not only computer science but also social sciences such as communication, sociology, art, law, etc. to the subject is very important. Since human-derived data can be considered as a reflection of daily life, it contains important clues about the contexts in which various groups in society exist. From this point of view, with the joint contribution of computer sciences and social sciences, it is aimed to predict possible social dangers that may arise from artificial intelligence algorithms by using the clues obtained in this study. In this direction, the picture in question is presented through a scenario specific to "vulnerable and disadvantaged" groups, which is one of the most fundamental problems of today. Then, Gerbner's "nurture theory", which is the most widespread mass communication theory of all time, is reinterpreted in the perspective of machine learning, and attention is drawn to the possible social and mass problems that machine learning may cause depending on the data. The article is expected to contribute to the importance of a holistic approach (i.e. the combination of algorithms and data) and an interdisciplinary evaluation.

The transition from primitive society to settled life was a major step for humanity, and similarly, the shift from agricultural society to the industrial revolution was transformative. Following the industrial society, the development of information and technology led to the emergence of digital life, economy, and education. Digitalization has facilitated time management, reduced costs, and minimized the need for workforce. Agricultural tools that once replaced human power have now been substituted by information and technology-based tools. Calculations that used to take hours can now be performed within seconds through software. Access to information has become faster, influencing daily life, shopping, and lifestyles. In particular, e-commerce has expanded on both national and international levels. The Covid-19 pandemic further accelerated digitalization, making it inevitable. Fields ranging from health and education to the economy and career life are now shaped by digital processes. With the spread of the telephone, computer, and internet, technology has become inseparable from social life. Throughout history, innovations such as fire, the wheel, the steam engine, and electricity have been transformative; today, this transformation occurs through access to information. While digitalization brings advantages and conveniences, it also carries disadvantages and challenges. Its effects on the economy, social life, and societal structures are significant. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the evolution of digitalization from past to present, its conceptual framework, and its social and economic impacts, drawing on a comprehensive literature review.

Ancak günümüzde teknolojinin baş döndürücü bir hızla gelişmesi her şeyi dönüştürdüğü gibi bürokrasileri de dönüştürmektedir. Teknolojik gelişmelere koşut olarak gelişen makine öğrenmesi ve yapay zekâ uygulamaları kamu yönetiminde de giderek daha fazla algoritmaların hâkim olmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu nedenle bürokrasilerin algokrasiye dönüştüğü ve dönüşmeye devam edeceği iddia edilmektedir. Yeni ortaya atılan bir kavram olan algokrasi, bürokrasiden esinlenerek gücün bürolar aracılığıyla kullanmasına benzer şekilde gücün algoritmalar aracılığıyla kullanılması olarak ifade edilmektedir. Ancak yeni bir kavram olarak ortaya atılan algokrasinin bürokrasiden tamamen farklı bir kavram olup olmadığı konusu tartışmalıdır. Bu nedenle çalışmada öncelikle algokrasi kavramına açıklık getirilmektedir. Alan yazında algokrasinin sunduğu fırsatlarla ilgili çok fazla çalışma bulunmasına rağmen algokrasinin yol açtığı ve yurttaşlar için tehdit haline gelen sorunların ele alındığı çalışmalar oldukça sınırlı sayıdadır. Bu nedenle çalışmanın temel amacı algokrasinin yol açtığı tehditleri ele almak olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu çerçevede çalışmada şeffaflık sorunları başta olmak üzere ayrımcılık (tarafsızlıktan yoksun algoritmalar), kişisel mahremiyet ihlalleri, yönetimi daha fazla merkezileştirme, algoritmalara gereğinden fazla güvenme,
meşruiyet ve ahlakilik sorunları gibi algokrasinin yol açtığı tehditlerele alınmaktadır. Bu tehditlerle başa çıkabilmenin hiç de kolay olmayacağı bilinmesiyle birlikte yine de çözümün mümkün olduğunu belirten çalışma birtakım önerilerde bulunarak son bulmaktadır.

Bu noktadan hareketle, çalışmada yapay zekâ ve gazetecilik ilişkisinin akademik çalışmalarda ne şekilde ele alındığını detaylı bir şekilde incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın belirlenen amacına uygun olarak, yapay zekâ ve gazetecilik ilişkisine yönelik Web of Science veri tabanında taranan akademik çalışmalar ele alınmış ve VOSViewer uygulaması üzerinden bibliyometrik verileri analiz edilmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen analizler sonucunda kavrama yönelik araştırmaların ağırlıklı olarak İngilizce dilinde yazıldığı, 1992 ve 2023 yılları arasında yapay zekâ ve gazetecilik konusunda toplamda 194 adet araştırmanın yapıldığı, çalışmaların büyük çoğunluğunun makale türünde yayımlandığı, 2020 ve 2022 yıllarında araştırmaların sayısının artış gösterdiği saptanmıştır. The paper addresses the role of Czech public service television in polarized society. The research on the audiences of public service media (PSM) is particularly salient concerning specific role; however, it is increasingly questioned in a fragmented and polarized environment. The paper builds on data from 27 semi-structured interviews and a survey conducted in 2019-20 (N=3251). While for some, Czech television is a trustworthy medium protecting exemplary sets of values, for others, it is biased and hostile. The study reveals the deeper interplay between political attitudes and media practices, potentially endangering PSM's role and position in polarized settings.

This study aimed to build an applied model on the methodology of investigative journalism in the Arab world. To achieve this goal, this study followed the methodology of in-depth analysis of interviews via e-mail with ten Arab journalists interested in investigative journalism, whether those who practiced investigative reporting or received training in this field. This study is significant because it draws the attention of researchers and academics to the need for adopting a scientific methodology for investigative journalism. In addition, it could be turned into a part of a broader research track to develop Arab investigative journalism methodology. Based on the analysis of the interviewees' answers, these steps can be listed as follows: Finding an original idea, writing the hypothesis, preparing a solid systematic action plan to prove the hypothesis of the investigation, conducting field work, producing the investigative report whether written or televised, and finally publishing the report.

The amazing development in communication and information technology during the past two decades has led to fundamental changes in journalistic work in general, where various journalistic practices have been affected, especially with the development of digital journalism, which now bears different names with one meaning, such as virtual journalism, internet journalism, online journalism, electronic journalism, and digital journalism (Bakirmekik, 2022). The increased reliance on digitization has led to a massive expansion in the size of media networks, which are now providing journalists with greater opportunities to access information, to possess the necessary tools to access various sources and to increase their ability to publish and reach the public (Anderson, 2012). The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the reliance on distance employment and raised the value of online work (Digital Transformation, 2020), especially in the journalistic sector, which opened the door to new job opportunities for journalists in the production and dissemination of digital journalistic content (Bakirmekik, 2022). However, the world eventually adapted to the pandemic, and those who had shifted to remote work were badly affected. For instance, Elon Musk had given his order, late November 2022, to lay off half of 7,500 Twitter employees (Heath & Sato, 2022). For the first time in human history, large language models (LLM's) have brought to the fore the fact that human beings are facing a situation that is faster and more intelligent than themselves. In the face of this great change, it is not possible for the social sciences to remain unchanged. Social science research not only faces a shift from the real world to the virtual world, but also tends to shift from universities to large technology companies. On the other hand, the phenomenon of dehumanization in technology and science raises important questions about the future of the social sciences. The use of large language models for simulation purposes and the possibility of using these models as social sciences research units in the future make the future of social sciences debatable. Recent developments have transformed the basic concepts of research methods such as population, sampling, reliability and validity into the data learned by the big language model, silicon sampling, algorithmic fidelity. Studies on algorithmic fidelity, on the other hand, have not yet come to a clear conclusion and the conceptual framework of social science research to be conducted within the framework of artificial intelligence has not yet been fully established, hence the word "contested" in the title of our article.

This demo paper introduces DaMata, a robot-journalist covering deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon. The robot-journalist is based on a pipeline architecture of Natural Language Generation, which yields multilingual daily and monthly reports based on the public data provided by DETER, a real-time deforestation satellite monitor developed and maintained by the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE). DaMata automatically generates reports in Brazilian Portuguese and English and publishes them on the Twitter platform. Corpus and code are publicly available.

This study aims to examine the latest academic research conducted in the last decade on the future benefits, challenges, and impact of Artificial Intelligence and its adoption in the communication profession. The study is grounded in the perceptions of reviews from relevant academic articles and emphasizes the technological innovations related to Artificial Intelligence applications within the public relations, advertising, and journalism professions. The followings are some of the key questions asked in the current study: 1) How is the implementation of Artificial Intelligence going to impact the jobs of the communication profession? 2) Can robots replace public relations, advertising, and journalism professionals? and 3) What kind of opportunities and challenges will AI-powered systems bring to these three professions? The findings suggest that Artificial Intelligence would benefit the communication profession and those who adopt Artificial Intelligence technologies would certainly gain a competitive advantage. It appears that the future of the communication profession would be a blend of both Artificial Intelligence technologies and human insight. Also, it is emphasized that it would be a rather narrow view to see that Artificial Intelligence would create robots to replace humans while performing various tasks or would outperform human intelligence in most of its dimensions.

When it comes to thinking about the impact of AI on the media, few are as immersed in this space as Professor Charlie Beckett. "I know more about this than I have known about anything in my life," he told us when we met in his office last week.

The former news editor, now a Professor at LSE (London School of Economics) has been working almost exclusively in this space since 2019, when he authored a report on artificial intelligence and associated technologies, based on a survey of 71 news organizations in 32 different countries. The latest iteration of this global survey will be published in Fall.
Prior to joining LSE in 2006 as the Founding Director of its journalism think Polis, Beckett was a program editor for Channel 4 News in the UK, responsible for coverage of major stories such as 9/11 and the 7/7 London bombings. And before that, he spent a decade as a senior producer and program editor at BBC News and Current A airs. Support from Google News Initiative, under the auspices of the JournalismAI project which Beckett directs, has enabled him and his team to produce a range of training resources, including a JournalismAI Starter Pack, a monthly newsletter and two online courses on machine learning. They have also hosted an Academy for Small Newsrooms and an annual Fellowship designed to foster collaboration and innovation among journalists and technologists around the world. As Beckett explains, many of these efforts have been bottom-up, informed by the needs of industry leaders and practitioners.

Based on this engagement, and Beckett's ongoing conversations with newsrooms and senior media leaders, here's a look at the key issues pertaining to AI-and specifically Generative AI-today. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden içerik analizinin kullanıldığı araştırmada yapay zeka ve insan üretimi haberler karşılaştırmalı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Çalışmada 8 haber kategorisi oluşturulmuştur. Bu kategoriler; ekonomi, politika, eğitim, seyahat, kültür sanat, sağlık, spor ve 3. sayfa haberleri şeklindedir. Belirtilen kategoriler rastgele örneklem yöntemi ile seçilmiş her kategoriye ait 5 haber yapay zekaya yazdırılarak aradaki fark saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Toplam 40 haberin karşılaştırılmalı bir şekilde incelendiği araştırmada, basit metinlerin birbirine yakın olduğu gözlemlenmiş fakat sayısal verilerin, detaylı bilgilerin yer aldığı haberlerde yapay zeka algoritmasının yalnızca taslak eşdeğerinde içerik ürettiği tespit edilmiştir.

Against the specific backdrop of sports journalism's content, means of production and consumption, the question the paper answers is whether the recent introduction of automatically produced content is merely another evolutionary stage in the field of sport journalism, or has it triggered a revolution that can be defined literally as a sweeping change, both related to production and consumption, in this area?

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about a revolution in the writing industry, and the Nigerian writing industry is not left out. This research study aimed to explore the impact of AI on the Nigerian writing industry, with a focus on the opportunities and challenges that arise as a result. The study used a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect and analyze data. The findings revealed that AI has the potential to enhance the writing process by providing writers with tools for improved writing, editing, and publishing. However, the use of AI also poses some challenges, such as the potential threat to the jobs of human writers and the need for writers to adapt to new technologies. The study concludes with recommendations for writers, publishers, and policymakers to embrace the opportunities presented by AI while mitigating the challenges. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the impact of AI on the writing industry, with specific focus on the Nigerian context.

Today, news texts can be created automatically and presented to readers without human participation through technologies and methods such as big data, deep learning, and natural language generation. With this research, we have developed an application that can contribute to the literature regarding The Studies on Robot Journalism Applications with a technology-reductionist perspective. Robot journalism application named Robottan Al Haberi (the English equivalent of the application name is “get the news from the robot”) produces news text by placing weather, exchange rates, and earthquake data in certain templates. The article attempts to decide whether sports reports are more about news or commentary. Based on an analysis of press material, the author examines various characteristics of the genre and tries to determine their compatibility with the news canon. As the analysis shows, contemporary sports reports are less about news and more about commentary, interpretation or evaluation. Journalists tend to sum up the contest and briefly describe the course of events. This makes sports reports similar to press comment and review.

تحاول هذه الدراسة التعامل مع تأثيرات التقنيات الجديدة على الصحافة بشكل عام، وخاصة الروبوتات وتكنولوجيا الذكاء الاصطناعي، والتعرف على المؤسسات الإعلامية التي تستخدم هذه التقنيات وكيف تستخدمها، كما تحاول الدراسة الإجابة على السؤال التالي: هل سيحل الذكاء الاصطناعي محل البشر في صناعة الإعلام؟ أم أنها ستساعد الصحفيين على تحسين حياتهم المهنية؟ واستخدامه لإنجاز عملهم بسرعة ودقة وكفاءة أكبر؟
Journalism technology is constantly changing with new products and tools, the need to acquire technology is an ongoing process, as new idioms emerged such as: Robot  journalism, and news automation, due to the changes brought about by modern technologies, in addition to the environment of journalistic work in general.
This study tries to deal with the impacts of new technologies on journalism in general, specially the robotics and artificial intelligence technology, and what media institutions is using these technologies and how?, trying to answer the question: is Artificial Intelligence (AI) will replace humans in media industry? Or it would help them to improve their career? And use it to do their work fast, accurate and more efficient?

İletişim teknolojilerinde kendini gösteren teknolojik gelişmeler haberciliğin dijitalleşmesini ve oluşturulan haberlerin birbirinden farklı kitlelere birçok mecradan iletilmesini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Haberin üretim, dağıtım ve hedef kitle gruplarında meydana gelen bu değişim, habere yeni eklemlemeler yapılmasının ve haberin teknolojik gelişmeler paralelinde yenilenmesinin önünü açmıştır. Bu noktada örnek gösterilecek olan yapay zekâ teknolojileri de haberciliğe etki ederek yeni haber biçimlerinin ortaya çıkmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Söz gelimi robot gazetecilik, yapay zekâ sistemlerinin temellendirmesi sonucunda oluşan ve yakın geçmişe kadar hiç kullanılmamış bir habercilik türü olarak adından söz ettirmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada robot gazetecilik, robot spikerler üzerinden örneklendirilerek bir haber paylaşım platformu olan YouTube’a yüklenen videolar üzerinden analiz edilmiştir. İçerik analizi yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışmada Türkçe ve İngilizce olarak videosu yüklenmiş olan bir kadın ve bir erkek robot haber spikerine gelen yorumlar ışığında farklı kullanıcıların yapay zekâ ve haber ilişkisine yönelik tutumları mercek altına alınarak analize tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma neticesinde elde edilen yorumların robot spikerin cinsiyetine bağlı olarak farklılık gösterdiği, kadın robot spikere karşı cinsiyetçi söylemin egemen olduğu, yapay zekâ teknolojilerinin birçok mesleğin sonunu getireceğinin düşünüldüğü ve kullanıcıların büyük bir kısmının haberde yapay zekâ kullanımına karşı olumlu görüşte olmadığı görülmüştür.

En este artículo se describe cómo fue la cobertura de la Selección Mexicana durante su participación en la Copa del Mundo Brasil 2014, para lo cual se realizó un análisis de contenido de los cuatro periódicos deportivos nacionales. Los resultados apuntan, por un lado, a que las rutinas de trabajo de los reporteros de la fuente son similares al resto de la prensa y, por otro, que en el lenguaje usado proliferan los adjetivos.

Esta investigación analiza las similitudes y discrepancias entre el discurso académico y el profesional en torno a la aplicación de la inteligencia artificial en los medios de comunicación españoles, entendiendo que es una herramienta tecnológica que ayuda en la redacción de los textos y un campo que ofrece nuevas oportunidades y retos para el sector. Para alcanzar este propósito, se ha utilizado una metodología mixta, con procedimientos de tipo cuantitativo, como el cuestionario realizado a periodistas de diferentes medios (N=139), y cualitativo, como las entrevistas semiestructuradas en profundidad elaboradas a docentes universitarios (N=10). Los resultados muestran una coincidencia en ambos discursos en que la inteligencia artificial no tendrá un impacto negativo sobre el mercado laboral periodístico. También existe consenso en que la calidad de las noticias automatizadas muestra algunas carencias importantes; presenta claros desafíos éticos y de transparencia, así como la necesidad de apostar por una sólida formación de los periodistas que integren el uso de las tecnologías emergentes.
