This mixed-methods study explored the centrality and meanings of men's and women's parental and work-related identities by comparing semi-traditional, equal-sharing, and role-reversed couples. Quantitative analysis involved 2,813 British parents (1,380 men, 1,433 women) who were primary caregivers, primary breadwinners, or equal sharers with at least one child aged 11 or under. Qualitative analysis drew on 60 in-depth interviews with 10 couples from each of the three groups. Results indicated that the centrality of parental and work identities varied by role rather than gender, as both male and female caregivers reported less central work identities and more central parental identities compared to breadwinners and equalsharers. Equal-sharers and role-reversers were characterized by women's central work identity and men's low centrality of work identity. In these couples, a `half and half` parenting ideology underlined the construction of mothering and fathering as equivalent interchangeable identities, each forming only one half of a child's parenting. Intertwining their maternal identity with an equivalent construction of their partners' identity allowed women to reconcile a good mother ideal with central work identities, by redefining mothering as a responsibility for only half of the caregiving.

This paper explores two concepts of recent interest to Keebet von Benda-Beckmann, including notions of personhood as expressed in the law and diverse felt obligations of care. As with Keebet, we are interested in how both interrelate with legal pluralism. Both concepts enabled us to build on relational themes that have been gaining traction in social theories, and to ask about the extent to which legal orders differ in their approach to embedded legal personhood. In this relational context, the perception of care as a natural course of action (2021, 3) might or might not be extended to non-human entities and beings. We extend Keebet's exploration of care and legal personhood by comparing two cases where international efforts have been directed towards better environmental care, the argan forests of Morocco and the open ocean as part of the "Blue Economy".

Background Rapid spread of COVID-19 forced the public to turn to community pharmacies as the most accessible points of primary healthcare, overloading pharmacy services. The objectives of this research were to detect and describe the changes in work environment of community pharmacists in Vojvodina during the state of emergency due to COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic effects on job related stress were assessed. Methods Community pharmacists from Vojvodina completed an online questionnaire on work environment changes related to COVID-19 (cross-sectional study). Results Out of the 1574 licenced pharmacists in Vojvodina, 392 completed the survey. Workload increase, reported by 90.8% of pharmacists, was caused mostly by higher demand for safety equipment, antiseptics and disinfectants, dietary products and medicines. School has been identified as a suitable arena for targeting improvements in the health of children and young people. Teachers are highlighted as crucial contributors to student health which has resulted in changes in the teaching profession. The aim of this study is to examine the students' perspective on the role of the teacher in working with student health. Interviews with 34 students aged 16-19 years were carried out. Data were analysed using qualitative content analysis with theoretical underpinnings from pragmatism and symbolic interactionism. This approach identified four dominating roles for teachers: (1) a creator of joyful learning, (2) a creator of a sense of control, (3) a spreader of happiness, and (4) a creator of feeling valued. This study shows that the role of the teacher in working with student health is in acting, not in being, and that this role is constantly (re)created through interaction. The student perspective on the role of the teacher in student health work has close similarities to the role of the teacher in inclusive teaching, merging relational competence with didactic skill. In conclusion, we argue that developing teachers' didactic as well as relational competency, along with understanding competence within a pragmatic and symbolic interactionist theoretical framework, could improve student health practices.

The concept of regenerative tourism has garnered attention from tourism scholars and industry professionals. However, scant attention has been paid to theoretical anchoring and practical delivery. This original paper addresses this gap by exploring how tourism researchers and practitioners can embrace complexity, engage with tourism's past, present, and future, and foster the regeneration of world systems for multispecies flourishing. Crafted as an extended, conceptual philosophic research paper with two empirical examples, it makes three key contributions. First, it advances understandings of regenerative tourism through a theoretical anchoring in living and complex systems thinking. Second, it frames regenerative tourism as an actionable, future-oriented worldmaking trajectory to flourishing futures. Third, it offers a theoretically robust framework to strategically guide regenerative tourism at destination level.

Este estudio explora la relación ecológica y religiosa que la sociedad ateniense clásica establecía con su entorno natural, particularmente con la tierra, desde una perspectiva relacional. Tomando como base teórica la sociología fenomenológica de Hartmut Rosa y la propuesta metodológica de Ann Taves sobre objetos y lugares considerados "especiales" en contextos religiosos, se propone un marco interpretativo en el que se interconectan tres vértices: los humanos, la tierra y los agentes especiales (divinidades). El análisis se centra en cómo la mitología ateniense sobre la autoctonía, concretada en rituales como las Arreforias, materializaba y normativizaba esta relación especial con la tierra, legitimando a la vez estructuras sociopolíticas específicas. Asimismo, se analizan las narraciones sobre alteridad presentes en las Guerras Médicas como ejemplos de transgresión relacional, donde la figura de Jerjes sirve como modelo negativo de relación con el mundo, al desafiar el orden cósmico establecido. El estudio concluye destacando la utilidad de un enfoque relacional y ecológico para comprender tanto las prácticas rituales como la sacralización espacial en la Atenas clásica.

Cet article explore les dimensions géopolitiques et géo-religieuses d'Israël, fondamentales pour comprendre la crise actuelle qui secoue le Moyen-Orient et affecte le monde entier. À travers une analyse des textes sacrés (Ancien et Nouveau Testaments), enrichie par les interprétations des auteurs chrétiens évangéliques, il démontre comment ces visions influencent profondément les enjeux politiques, religieux et internationaux contemporains. L'objectif est de décrypter les racines spirituelles du conflit israélo-palestinien, souvent ignorées dans les analyses purement séculières, tout en soulignant leur impact global.

Tämän suosituksen tarkoituksena on yhdenmukaistaa iäkkäiden henkilöiden palvelutarpeiden selvittämisen käytäntöjä suosittamalla kansallisesti yhtenäisiä luotettavia mittareita toimintakyvyn arviointiin. Suositus tukee sekä palveluiden järjestäjiä että ammattilaisia luotettavien mittareiden ja mittareiden tulosten käytössä osana palvelutarpeiden selvittämistä. Mittareiden käyttö edellyttää aina niihin perehtymistä ja säännöllisesti päivitettyä osaamista sekä arviointiin riittävästi varattua aikaa. Selvityksen perusteella tehdään päätökset avun ja tuen tarpeesta ja niiden toteutustavasta. Selvitys ei aina välttämättä johda säännölliseen palveluun. Iäkästä henkilöä voidaan tukea myös monilla muilla tavoilla. Silloinkin voi olla aiheellista sopia milloin tilannetta seurataan uudella arvioinnilla.

This dissertation problematizes the normative claim of prevalent participation models and theories: participation thrives in politically-conducive contexts. The notion is a problem because it is neglective of (a) the analytical challenge to retheorize power without equating ‘what constitutes power’ to some owned attribute or variable of the ‘powerful,’ and (b) the people participating in difficult power scenarios because such claim side-tracks the complexity of their experiences in favor of ‘successful and replicable approaches.’ Such power-blindness is made possible by a problem-solving bias in governance (Mayntz 2004, Haus 2018, Selg and Ventsel 2020, Selg et al. 2023), wherein participation is treated as a solution technology to address democratic and development problems. However, such problems are “wicked” (Peters 2017), characterized by their continuous reproduction as issue-framed solutions are introduced. As wicked problems reproduce and persist, more participation models are introduced as a response, imposing accumulating a priori normatives into what participation (as a solution technology) ‘ought to be.’ The result constitutes this dissertation’s problematique: the power-blindness and over-normativity of participation theorizing.

Finding no theoretical recourse in conventional power theorizing (i.e., the ‘three faces’) that treat power as an ‘owned’ variable or capacity constituting the ‘powerful,’ the analysis turns to relational sociology, which problematizes the constitution of the social and political into non-essentialist theorization and emphasizes processual and unfolding dynamics in understanding the contingency of relations. Drawing from the relational theorizing of Michel Foucault, Georg Simmel, Peeter Selg, and Ann Mische, among others, the dissertation develops a relational sociology of power in participation, which embeds power as influencing discursive dynamics in participation’s ‘codes of legitimation.’ The analytical development of the relational analysis engages the contingency of power relations through situating power in participation in relational spacetime, and pivoting space, time, and dynamics through notions of relational scaffolds, normative signals, and power shifts. The relational analysis comprises two dimensions: an analysis of differentiation reflecting Emirbayer’s typology of substantivist/essentialist orientations versus the relational, and an analysis of constitution, which presents the legitimation codes of power in participation, drawing from the political semiotic theory of Selg and Ventsel (2020) and Selg et al. (2023). The political semiotic categories of participation embed power in legitimizing the codes/terms of problematizing participation as structure, open, inclusion, partnership, community, and discourse (meta-participation). These political semiotic categories organize the analysis of the code legitimation as ‘moments of discursive shifts’ to unpack the discursive motions and agonistic relations in the unfolding and constitutive dynamics. The relational framing addresses the problematique by embedding the power discourse in the unfolding, dynamic, and constitutive character of reflexive legitimation.

The relational framing is applied to two cases, the Local Development Councils and the Philippine Open Government Partnership, as empirics supporting the theory-building. The cases unpack the dynamics of legitimation in their respective discursive shifts and underscore pragmatic insights that relational analysis provides for policymakers and practitioners. The dissertation concludes with an analytical engagement of relational sociology’s claims and dissonances and affirms the discipline’s promise for a more grounded and humanistic understanding of the social world.

Based on experience in a group facilitation, this chapter offers a sociological perspective for the understanding of behavior in T-groups. The proposed perspective rests on Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of habitus (social dispositions) and the relational. It is argued that by using therapeutic discourse and practices aimed at developing personal skills and abilities and shaping behavior, the T-group very often hardly represents the role of social and structural aspects in generating participants' behavior. In response to this shortcoming, the chapter shows how habitus and the relational perspective enable a group facilitator to expose the relationship between the group's social and structural context and personal behavior. The aim in this article is therefore to propose using Bourdieu's habitus and relational perspective as organizing concepts for the understanding the behavior of T-groups participants.

Sociological and social science researchers increasingly seek to explore the potential of facilitating organised encounters between conflicting social groups, hoping that such meetings might promote positive social change. Today, a large body of practice relies on these orchestrated interactions to try to reduce conflict across social, religious, and cultural differences. However, we argue that this growing literature tends to assume bounded conceptions of groups, narrow views of power, and linear ideas of temporality. Drawing on emerging developments in relational sociological theory, we foreground using the verb encountering (as a dynamic process of relating) rather than encounter (as a discrete event) as an alternative framework for researchers as they facilitate, manage, and interpret these orchestrated meetings. Advancing radical relationism in this way, we argue, sheds new light on the multifaceted, emergent dynamics of such meetings, enabling a more complex and deeper understanding of how they work. Thus, radical relationism, via the idea of encountering, provides an alternative framework for conducting sociological research on what has come to be known as organised encounters.

Dit hoofdstuk analyseert de casus van de Joker, zoals verbeeld in de gelijknamige film, als een manifestatie van extreem disfunctioneel handelen, geworteld in individueel trauma en maatschappelijke vervreemding. Het introduceert vervolgens de Handelingsmatrix van Sengers-een systematisch raamwerk voor weloverwogen beslissingen en effectieve acties, niet als een statisch model, maar als een dynamische gids. De methodologie bestaat uit het ontrafelen van Sengers' concept van 'Effectief Perspectief', gevormd door de synergetische triade Kennis, Houding, en Vaardigheden (KHV), versterkt door Dialoog en Ordening. Kernbevindingen omvatten inzichten in hoe dit iteratieve proces leidt tot een scherper handelingsperspectief. Het hoofdstuk biedt praktische strategieën en (denk)oefeningen om het 'hoe van handelen' te versterken, met als doel jongvolwassenen en studenten-de beginnende academicus of hogeschoolstudent anno 2025-te activeren tot gemotiveerd, onderbouwd en betekenisvol handelen in antwoord op hedendaagse uitdagingen zoals polarisatie en gebrek aan authentieke verbinding. De aanbevelingen zijn gericht op het cultiveren van persoonlijke handelingscompetentie en het bijdragen aan een constructievere samenleving.

Rationale: Patients with advanced dementia experience multifaceted vulnerabilities because of their diminished capacities for decision making. The dominant versions of person-centred care (PCC) emphasise patient preferences and autonomy, which often undermines a recognition of their distinct unfulfilled needs. Determining whether an individual autonomy conception of personhood applies to patients with advanced dementia is morally problematic from various theoretical perspectives and leads to the one-approach-fits-all problem when caring for this patient population. Aims and Objectives: The availability of patients' advanced directives varies depending on their cultural backgrounds. The goal of the study is to argue that PCC, with a focus on relational autonomy, should be the first step for caring for patients with advanced dementia.

By applying Cunningham's Five Principles of Educide, the study traces the term's evolution from its origins in describing physical destruction of educational systems to a broader framework encompassing narrative manipulation. The paper examines educide's historical phases (2008-2025), its 2023 emergence as an internationally recognized concept, and its profound impacts on all facets and segments of society. Five major lessons learned in 2023, each supported by three primary sources with expanded explanations, illustrate its significance and alignment with Cunningham's theory. Eight reasons justify Cunningham's redefinition of educide as a process, not a product, with detailed explanations and primary sources, highlighting its dynamic, systemic, and adaptive nature. The expanded Five Principles, justifications, and lessons provide a robust theoretical foundation, reinforcing educide's role as a tool of cultural and intellectual genocide and offering insights into its prevention and the restoration of educational integrity.

Den är ofta baserad på studier som kategoriserar effekter i ekonomiska, tekniska, miljömässiga, nätverks-och sociala effekter. Utmaningen är att många synergier ofta förblir utanför granskningens omfattning, att registerdata som används i utvärderingarna inte är realtid, att relevanta data utesluts från utvärderingen och att systemiska och komplexa fenomen missförstås. VTTs projekt "Förbättrad konsekvensbedömning med automatisk datahantering och dataanalys" undersökte hur massdata och dataanalys förbättrar konsekvensanalysen och samlade in information om bästa praxis och dataanalytiska lösningar för konsekvensbedömning. Dessutom utvärderades potentialen för användning av nya datakällor och systemisk konsekvensanalys i den offentliga sektorn. Projektet granskade forskningsfrågorna i detalj i två fallstudier: "Mental hälsa och utslagning" och "Utveckling av regionerna". Projektet resulterade i information om användningsmöjligheter för systemisk konsekvensbedömning, massdata och dataanalys i det givna sammanhanget samt i förslag till driftsmodeller och metoder som kan användas i konsekvensbedömning inom den offentliga sektorn. In Western perspectives, space and place are often viewed as distinct concepts. Place refers to a specific physical location, whereas space describes the interactions that take place within that location. Time is typically understood as a fixed moment or the interval between moments. In contrast, Pacific perspectives see time, space, and place as interconnected with each other and with individuals. In this worldview, a space or place continues to resonate even after one leaves it, and time is seen as circular rather than linear, linking the past, present, and future. This interconnectedness is embodied in the concept of 'va', which emphasizes the importance of understanding relationships and responsibilities within the community involved in research (cf. Airini et al., 2010). This article argues for the importance of recognizing Indigenous epistemologies and ontologies as valid in their own right, which in this case means recognizing the importance of va in Pacific research. We also present our theorization of an Engaged and Fluid Temporal Methodology, which outlines via five principles how Pacific understandings guided our work with Pacific communities. We then walk through each of the five principles as a methodological guide for community-based research, providing illustrative examples from the Wellington Translanguaging Project. By focusing on principles to research that are imbued with respective Pacific understandings of time, space, and relationships (e.g. va), we argue that this supports the research to remain in and for the communities with which we worked, a core component of Indigenous research methodology.

Vorrei proporre una riflessione sui rapporti - sia logici che vitali - che intercorrono tra due realtà macroscopiche del mondo contemporaneo, il Giubileo e la Globalizzazione, quest'ultima dal punto di vista culturale, l'altra di tipo ecclesiale, ma considerata rispetto ad una sua proposta specifica: la pratica del pellegrinaggio. Rapporti anzitutto di tipo logico (quantitativo), che diventano immediatamente questioni vitali, esistenziali (dunque qualitativi), che hanno a che fare, dal mio punto di vista, con le questioni ultime della sorte dell'uomo e della sua sopravvivenza nel globo. Li connettiamo perché, è evidente, l'influenza della Chiesa nel mondo è anch'essa, appunto, globale (e dunque anch'essa coinvolta in tutte le questioni afferenti al rapporto tra centralità e periferia, tra omogeneità e differenziazione particolare, tra uniformità del modello e inculturazione, etc…). e vorremmo scongiurare che l'evento giubilare non si riduca anch'esso ad una semplice estensione (quantitativa orizzontale) delle proposte (non economiche, mediatiche, finanziarie… ma) religiose e dunque non cada negli "inconvenienti" che le analisi sul fenomeno della globalizzazione evidenziano. Scegliamo il pellegrinaggio perché vediamo in esso (sia in senso teorico, sia rispetto ad esperienze intense documentate e vissute in prima persona), una via qualitativa "verticale", e non solo di spostamento orizzontale tra i confini del mondo. Vediamo in che termini.

Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin sosiaalityöntekijöiden julkisen viestinnän tapoja ja keinoja rakenteellisen sosiaalityön kontekstissa. Tavoitteena oli selvittää, miten julkinen viestintä rakenteellisen sosiaalityön välineenä näkyy työnteon käytännöissä ja miten sosiaalityöntekijät kokevat toteuttavansa rakenteellista sosiaalityötä. Työn tietoperusta koostui sosiaalityöstä käsitteenä sekä rakenteellisen sosiaalityön funktioista ja tehtäväkentistä yhteiskunnassa. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin julkista viestintää sosiaalialalla sekä erityisesti sen problematiikkaa sananvapauden ja vaientamisen ristiriidan näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyö oli kvantitatiivinen tutkimus, jonka aineisto kerättiin sähköisellä kyselylomakkeella tutkimukseen valikoituneilta sosiaalityöntekijöiltä. Tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan todeta, että sosiaalityöntekijät tuntevat rakenteellisen sosiaalityön käsitteen ja kokevat toteuttavansa sitä jopa viikoittain. This article builds on the 2013 publication by Bogenschneider et al., “The Family Impact Lens: A Family-Focused, Evidence-Informed Approach to Policy and Practice”, which emphasises the shift from an individual-focused approach to a family-centered one in policymaking. This article outlines the adaptation process carried out by a research group at the Family Studies and Research University Centre of the Catholic University of Milan, detailing how the original US framework was modified to fit Italy’s unique cultural, socio-economic, and policy contexts. The FamILens includes principles, starters, and checklists for a thorough family impact analysis. It presents the complete FamILens toolkit, offering practical guidance for conducting family impact assessments. This adaptation has resulted in a robust tool that promotes family well-being by ensuring that policies and practices are evaluated for their impact on family dynamics, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of social policies.

In the introduction to this HSR Special Issue we provide an exposition and over- view of Elias and Scotson's Established and Outsiders, seeking to identify the empirical and conceptual significance of the relational model of inter-group tensions contained therein. Our core argument is that Elias and Scotson wrote in the historical context of a British intellectual Zeitgeist in which a preoccupa- tion with 'established' groups followed from proto-Marxist political/macro- sociological concerns with the reproduction of social elites; and an engage- ment with 'outsiders', which followed from an ascendant micro-sociological concern with sub-cultural and 'deviant' groups who defined themselves in op- position to a dominant mainstream. The purpose of the article is the attempt to answer the question of how Eastern and Western monastic rules normalized the life of those who were ill in ancient monasteries. Did they have among their brothers or sisters some special status? Who were responsible for the sick in the monastery and how hey were responsible for the care of the ill? In this regard, monastic rules are an interesting and unique source of information about activities undertaken to care for ill members of the monastic community. In this regard 7 monastic rules were identified and analyzed. These rules were written in different regions of the contemporary world: Egypt, North Africa, Gaul, Italy and Spain. One was written during IV and VII of century and they concern monks and consecrated women. Each rule deals with the care of the sick those from among the brothers or sisters with a designated role in caring for the sick. These were usually nurses and cellarers. Some rules determined personality traits required. The general supervision over the care of the sick was entrusted to superior of the monastery. Separate rooms or the cells were identified for the sick, sometimes the dining room, the storeroom or the kitchen. All rules seek to ease for the ill requirements concerning of the consumption of meals, fasts, and hygiene needs. They should, if able, perform lighter duties.

nowi jeden z głównych wymiarów ubóstwa, to w systemie gospodarki rynkowej
musi ono przybrać inny kształt.

The concept of family transition -both normative and non-normative, whether due to internal or to external factors -presupposes the passage from one relatively stable situation to another relatively stable condition. What happens when the relative stability of the transitional stages withers away? What kind of interventions (social policies, personal social services, etc.) can be envisaged in a society that configures the family's transitions as an unbound morphogenesis of its relations? The family becomes an unceasing transition due to many factors, basically because societal morphogenesis makes the reflexive abilities of families increasingly problematic. The paper suggests that we move beyond the conditional and 'muddling through' models of the past. We need to adopt a new model of analysis and intervention, called the ODG-system, which is relational and reflexive. It consists of developing the relational reflexivity of the family as a social system.

Our societies are becoming more and more multiethnic and multicultural. How can we approach the growing cultural differences and diversity that can be seen in society as a result of globalization? The political doctrine of multiculturalism has generated more negative than positive effects. Today, in its place, we speak of inter-culturalism. But this expression too seems more or less vague and uncertain. Interculturalism lacks a relational interface between cultures. To get beyond multiculturalism's shortcomings and the fragilities of interculturalism, a secular approach to the question of coexistence between cultures is needed -one that is capable of restoring life to reason through a new semantics of inter-human difference/ diversity. 'Making human reason more relational' is the proposal of this contribution.

La sociologie est aujourd'hui considérée en Occident en tant qu'une science créée au XIXème siècle par Auguste Comte mais en étudiant l'histoire de cette discipline, nous constatons que l'origine des études sur les sociétés humaines peut plutôt être identifiée chez les penseurs musulmans et orientaux quelques siècles avant les fondateurs officiels de la sociologie moderne. Certaines théories sociologiques aussi s'enracinent dans les éléments liés à la pensée islamique. Dans cet article, nous prenons l'exemple d'une des théories fondamentales de la sociologie de nos jours qui semble être initialement inspirée des idées d'Ibn Khaldoun, penseur musulman du XIVème siècle. La théorie du déterminisme social est réputée en Europe comme un acquis scientifique élaboré par Émile Durkheim. Cette théorie sociologique s'exprime aussi dans les ouvrages des figures plus récentes comme Pierre Bourdieu qui par sa notion de l'habitus essaie d'analyser les forces extérieures subies par les actants d'une société. Pourtant nous constatons que ces éléments sociaux qui déterminent les conduites des individus et des groupes sociaux sont déjà mentionnés par le grand auteur des Prolégomènes qui s'appuyait, dans ce cas précis, sur le terme coranique de Sonnat-Allah signifiant littéralement la tradition ou la règle de Dieu. Dans cet article, nous voudrions tracer une esquisse historique à propos du déterminisme social en vue d'étudier cette hypothèse d'après laquelle le déterminisme social est une théorie définie par les théoriciens musulmans quelques siècles avant les penseurs européens de la Renaissance ou les sociologues de l'ère contemporaine.

U radu se analizira je li secesija jedan od mogućih oblika ostvarenja prava naroda na samoodređenje. Iako brojni međunarodni dokumenti i sudska praksa priznaju samoodređenje kao jedno od temeljnih načela međunarodnog prava, oni ne definiraju to pravo, ne navode uvjete njegove primjene, niti definiraju "narod" kao ovlaštenika toga prava. U praksi država i u naučavanjima autora konsenzus postoji tek oko prava naroda na unutarnje samoodređenje (slobodan odabir političkog oblika vladavine) te na oslobođenje od kolonijalne dominacije. U tom kontekstu analizira se zakonitost proglašenja nezavisnosti Kosova. Zaključak je rada da bi vanjsko samoodređenje izvan kolonijalnog konteksta moglo biti iznimno moguće ako je narodu (ali ne i nacionalnoj manjini!) uskraćeno pravo na unutarnje samoodređenje, no i da bi fokus trebalo pomaknuti s uvjeta za ostvarenje vanjskog samoodređenje na osiguranje boljeg poštovanja onog unutarnjeg.

Tiivistelmä: Suomen kuntoutusjärjestelmä on muutoksessa. Pääministeri Juha Sipilän hallituksen ohjelman mukaan hallituskaudella tehdään kuntoutusjärjestelmän kokonaisuudistus. Sosiaali-ja terveysministeriö on asettanut kuntoutuksen uudistamiskomitean pohtimaan kuntoutuksen uudistamista. Kuntoutuksen uudistustyö sovitetaan yhteen sosiaali-ja terveydenhuollon uudistuksen sekä hallituksen kärkihankkeiden kanssa. Uudistuksen tavoitteena on yhdenvertainen, kustannustehokas ja ohjattava järjestelmä, joka tukee ja vahvistaa kuntoutujaa elämän kaikissa tilanteissa. Suomessa käynnissä oleva kuntoutuksen kokonaisuudistustyö edellyttää kuntoutuksen ja kehittämisen erityisasiantuntijuutta. Tarvitaan kehittämishalukkuutta ja -osaamista sekä kannustavia päätöksentekijöitä rohkeaan ja kokonaisvaltaiseen kuntoutuksen palvelujen järjestämisen uudistamiseen. Ylempään ammattikorkeakoulututkintoon johtavien opintojen tavoitteena on antaa opiskelijalle laajat ja syvälliset tiedot sekä tarvittavat teoreettiset tiedot toimia työelämän kehittäjänä vaativissa asiantuntija-ja johtamistehtävissä. Oulun ammattikorkeakoulun kuntoutuksen yliopettaja Arja Veijolalla oli ainutlaatuinen taito, halu ja innostus toimia valtakunnallisestikin merkittävänä kuntoutuksen kehittäjänä sekä kouluttaa meistä ylemmän ammattikorkeakoulututkinnon kuntoutuksen koulutusohjelman opiskelijoista tulevaisuuden asiantuntijoita ja kehittäjiä. Hän ohjasi useita Pohjois-Pohjanmaan alueen kuntoutuksen kehittämiseen liittyviä opinnäytetöitä, joista neljä kuvaamme artikkelissa.

La domanda centrale che ci poniamo è: dobbiamo dire che è il volontariato a generare il capitale sociale oppure è il capitale sociale che genera volontariato? Benché qualcuno potrebbe propendere per una risposta 'circolare' (volontariato e capitale sociale si alimentano a vicenda, interattivamente), le cose non stanno esattamente così. Le ricerche empiriche sinora condotte, che vengono qui esposte, specie con riferimento all'Italia, propendono per la seconda delle due alternative. In altri termini la risposta è: le comunità che dispongono di maggiore capitale sociale generano volontariato, mentre, laddove esiste, il volontariato - almeno per come si configura dal punto di vista culturale e organizzativo in Italia - genera scarso o nullo capitale sociale, anzi possiamo dire che consuma piuttosto che generare capitale sociale. The emergence of developing nations in international politics has significantly reshaped global power dynamics, challenging the dominance of former colonial powers. The defeat of European imperial states in World War II and the subsequent decolonization movements led to the rise of newly independent nations, particularly in Asia and Africa. These states played a pivotal role in international organizations like the United Nations (UN), advocating for self-determination, economic sovereignty, and an end to colonial exploitation. Movements such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and Pan-Africanism strengthened the collective voice of the developing world, influencing global policies on apartheid, self-governance, and economic equity.
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Group of 77 (G77) emerged as platforms to push for a fairer global economic system. The North-South dialogue sought to address economic disparities between developed and developing nations, advocating for sovereign control over resources, technology transfer, and trade reforms. However, challenges such as protectionist policies in the North, limited technology-sharing, and persistent debt crises have hindered substantial progress.
The push for a New International Economic Order (NIEO) aimed to rectify global economic imbalances through redistribution, reparations, and democratization of decision-making. South-South Cooperation emerged as an alternative, fostering economic and technological collaboration among developing nations. Despite its promise, disparities among developing nations, particularly the influence of Newly Industrializing Countries (NICs), have complicated its effectiveness. Ultimately, the rise of developing nations continues to shape global governance, highlighting the need for equitable international relations.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Pierpaolo Donati initiated in Italy the relational turn in sociology, while in France Alain Caillé stipulated the anti-utilitarian movement in social sciences. The acronym MAUSS (from Mouvement Anti-Utilitariste en Sciences Sociales) simultaneously refers to the surname of Marcel Mauss, author of the pioneering work on the gift-Essai sur le don. This movement forms and spreads a new gift paradigm. The notion of the gift has shifted from a specific phenomenon researched in archaic societies towards a basic category for theorizing social order and taking a central position in research on modern transformations. The relational paradigm also focuses on the gift as a crucial aspect of social relations, and on its importance for the civil society. The article traces and discusses various interpretations of the concept of gift, along with the influence of the anti-utilitarian movement and the gift paradigm on relational sociology.

The comparison of the picture of social sciences at the beginning of the 20th century and their state at the start of the 21 st . leads to the discovery of unexpected changes, contradictions and paradoxes typical of post-modernism. A question is addressed: do all these changes, which bring about the discussion of the post-modern era, cover also sciences, and social sciences in particular. Paradoxically, the post-modern era of informationalism and a society of knowledge is not conducive to the autonomy of science and consequently disturbs the frail and delicate autonomy of social sciences. The post-modern phenomenon of departing from the modernist division of sciences and scientific disciplines manifests itself in theoretically and methodologically dubious cultural, social, political, and other studies. One can look at that phenomenon as a reaction to excessive fragmentation and autonomization in social sciences and an attempt of integrating reconstruction aiming also at eliminating the autonomy of theory in relation to practice.

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı öncelikle 1990'lı yıllarda gelişmeye başlayan ilişkisel sosyoloji ve sosyal bilim yaklaşımı ile Norbert Ellias'ın ileri sürdüğü ilişkisel sosyolojik yaklaşımı ilişkilendirmektir. Bu amaçla çalışma, önce ilişkisel sosyolojik yaklaşımı ana hatları ile ele almıştır. Burada beliren temel eleştiri sosyal olguların tözcü ve statik bir kavrayışla ele alınmasıdır. Sosyal olgular ilişkisel bir varoluşa sahiptir ve ancak ilişkisel ve süreçsel kavram ve analiz modelleri yoluyla anlaşılabilirdir. Bu tartışma ana hatları ile ele alındıktan sonra Norbert Elias'ın ileri sürdüğü temel kavramlar bu ilişkisel yaklaşım bağlamında değerlendirilmiştir. Bu bağlamda karşılıklı bağımlılık, eklemlenme ve figürasyon gibi temel kavramlar Eliascı ilişkisel analizin temel parçaları olarak belirmiştir.
