Private Education

There is a trend of some of the guardians of our country to admit their children to Kindergarten Schools for better performances. This study reveals different factors that influences on academic performances of grade three students at the kindergarten School of Bangladesh. The goals of the study were to evaluate the learning level of the students in different basic subjects and also to determine the factors contributing to improving students' performance. This research design employed explanatory sequential mixed-method approach, this mixedmethod approach combines both qualitative and quantitative data collection. First quantitative data was gathered from achievement tests of Bangla and mathematics to identify the learning level of the students. Interview Schedules for headteachers and assistant teachers and classroom observation checklists were used for collecting qualitative data. The study highlighted influential factors that drive learner's performance such as: students' attendance, headteachers leadership, teaching techniques, teachers' training, clear instruction, motivational communication, feedback and remedial actions, family support, provision of meals, additional classes offered by teachers, coaching or tutoring assistant, involvement of School Management committee and level of communication between teachers and parents. All these factors are associated with students' performance. The study suggested implementing a personalized learning plan according to the learning needs of the students, leadership training for headteachers, establishing study groups, and providing support to students during and after school hours. Thus, students' performances can be accelerated.

When people talk about teaching careers, the debate almost always comes down to public versus private schools. For many, the assumption is simple: once a teacher earns a license, the natural step is to move into the public-school system where stable salaries, government benefits, and tenure are guaranteed. Yet not all teachers follow this path.

This paper aims to treat the views that see the higher education as private or a public good. Many countries based in liberal and neoliberal theories have started to see the higher education as private good. They see the higher education as market of a capitalist kind when demand and supply arrange each other. The supply is the high education, offered from universities and the demand has to do with people that want to take this education. This relation is treated as business where the consumer pays for the product. The education has a price that is paid by the subject that buys it. This view is criticized by other, which think higher education is a public good because all society benefits for it. Questions that arise are; Does the public benefits from higher education? Is it the education more expensive than the benefit? Is the high education a profitable business as other business or not? Must the states continuous to subsidize the higher education or not? What can happen if the state will treat the high education as business? Those are some of the question that will take answer in this paper. The method of work is based in analyses of theories and practices that are known in higher education.

This research discusses the phenomenon of private tutoring, which has become a significant threat to the education system by creating academic inequalities and hindering students' equal opportunities for university enrollment. The study explores the prevalence of private tutoring at the secondary level in Ghardaia and investigates the reasons behind its widespread adoption. It also examines whether educational elements, such as teachers and the curriculum, influence the prevalence of private tutoring. Additionally, the research explores the role of families in encouraging their children to adopt this educational pattern. The descriptive-analytical methodology was employed, utilizing a questionnaire with 23 items distributed across three axes: reasons related to the student, reasons related to the teacher and curriculum, and reasons related to the family. The questionnaire was administered to a sample of individuals in Ghardaia. After analyzing the responses, the study found that the majority of the sample attributes the spread of private tutoring largely to reasons associated with the family, significant encouragement from families for their children to join private tutoring, and perceived teacher inadequacy in academic achievement. The dense curriculum was also identified as a crucial factor leading students to opt for private tutoring.

Se exploran las representaciones de la autoridad en los documentos de la Dirección General de Cultura y Educación de la provincia de Buenos Aires publicados entre 2015 y 2019. Se seleccionaron 19 documentos, siguiendo dos criterios: (1) que mencionen las relaciones de autoridad en la escuela; (2) que hayan sido producidos durante la gestión de la coalición Cambiemos. Se define “ideología”, y se exploran las relaciones entre representaciones sociales e ideología. Se describen las ideas políticas que Pro-Cambiemos llevó al gobierno, sus raíces ideológicas y su proyección en el discurso político sobre la educación. Finalmente, se desarrolla un análisis interpretativo de los documentos incluidos, y se exploran las representaciones sociales sobre la autoridad. Los resultados muestran la presencia de una metáfora que articula la representación de la autoridad como liderazgo, y que genera un corrimiento que coloca las relaciones de autoridad dentro del campo discursivo de lo empresarial.

This dissertation examines how parents from three locations in Balochistan, Pakistan, experience and practice educational choice for their children. Drawing on critical theories of class, geography and gender, and mixed-methods primary data collected in the three locations, the dissertation explores three key questions: 1) What types of educational choices and systems were available to urban families versus those available to rural families, boys versus girls, richer families versus poorer families? 2) How does the structure of the three most common
education systems (public, private, and Madaaris) impact institutional-level experiences and outcomes? 3) How and why do parents say that they make a choice and/or preference for a certain type of schooling and education? Findings of the study indicate that parental educational
“choice decisions” mostly revolve around the issues of 1) physical accessibility to multiple institutions, 2) perceived outcomes of each type of institution, and 3) perceived safety and morality to each type of institution. Parental preferences and decision-making rest on a different set of perceived risks and benefits to schooling than are commonly assumed by proponents of school choice. “Choice” is so deeply over-determined by geography and family wealth, and multiplied by gender norms and concerns about safety, that framing students’ educational experiences as being a result of parental free choice misunderstands the reproductive nature of Pakistan’s current education system. The study further concluded that instead of serving as a tool to eliminate social inequalities, transform class status, and increase social cohesion, the public education system in Pakistan, in fact perpetuates these inequalities and reproduces a class-based society. Pakistan’s overall education system is assisting to maintain a status quo and these institutions are preparing children for life in the economic, geographic and gender classifications into which they were born. The public school system and the Pakistani state are expected to play the more egalitarian role that was promised post-independence. When the public schools fail to produce opportunities for social, economic, and geographical movement, people are much more likely to express dissatisfaction with the system and to express hurt and upset over the state’s lack of care for its poorer citizens. This may have significant repercussions over time, as poor citizens feel there is less and less that they gain from the state.

Fortunately, Dubai offers a streamlined and transparent approach to help families make informed choices that best support their child's development.

The Greek neoliberal government had declared that major International private universities would open departments in Greece, raising the standards of Greek tertiary education. One year later, no such institution has even applied for this purpose. The only ones who have benefited from this law are the owners of unrated colleges who appear as "Universities". Nonetheless, there has been an interest in the Greek private basic and secondary education by funds that have bought out a series of reputable Greek private schools. The results so far have been disappointing; the new owners have been bullying parents who face economic problems, behaving on many occasions like collection agencies. One such incident is described in the article (PARON 27/07/2025)

Motherhood is an extreme job. Especially in Korea, a country that has joined the ranks of post-capitalist developed nations due to its highly compressed growth, the role of the mother takes on the absolute responsibility of raising and managing the basic unit of society, the family. This study analyzes the roles and expectations of mothers as represented in the Korean media through the content of three television dramas, Sky Castle (2018-2019, JTBC), Under the Queen's Umbrella (2022, tvN), and Crash Course in Romance (2023, tvN). The mothers in the three dramas are portrayed as perfect machines that work tirelessly as a total management system. The "education mother" is the leading participant in the team competition for the college entrance examination, a manager and researcher for suitable educational resources, and a strategic member of the onni community. The representation of education mothers in recent Korean dramas promotes the expansion of the private education market, thus contributing to shifting the responsibility for education from the state's educational welfare system to the private sector.

In Bangladesh, approximately 80% of the country’s educational institutions — ranging from schools to universities — are privately owned. However, the disparity in salary structures between public and private sector teachers has raised significant concerns. Most private institution educators receive inadequate remuneration, which directly affects their motivation, job satisfaction, and ultimately the quality of education delivered. This article explores the structural challenges of Bangladesh’s education sector, highlights the consequences of low teacher motivation, and compares the sector’s development to global standards. Policy recommendations are also offered to mitigate these issues and modernize the country’s education system.

There is no gainsaying the fact that private and public sectors cooperation in education delivery in any nation is not only necessary, but also, equally desirable because education is a social service that a nation ought to render its citizen. When both sectors harmonize their contributions to the education of the learners, the results are enormous. This paper therefore sought ways of harnessing such gains. It also affirmed the fact that both sectors have been cooperating in education sub sector in Nigeria. When this cooperation was disrupted, a number of challenges set into the education industry. The paper further provided means for the consolidation of the gains of the renewed education cooperation in Nigeria

That is why we must boost investment in higher education significantly. The commission is suggesting a target [investment for higher education] of 2 percent of gross domestic product by 2010.

The dramatic growth of private higher education (PHE) in France, including a significant for-profit component, clashes with traditional notions of an omnipotent state ruling over higher education. But in fact the post-Napoleonic state has generally been accepting of the private educational sector, which has evolved from a religious to a markedly commercial orientation.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, üniversite birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin özel dershanelerde verilen matematik öğretimine yönelik görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öğrencilere göre, özel dershaneler, iyi bir dershane öğretmeninin özellikleri, dershanelerdeki matematik öğretimi ve gidilen dershanenin beğenilen ve beğenilmeyen yanları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmaya İstanbul ili sınırları içinde bulunan bir devlet üniversitesinin Matematik Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalı'nın birinci sınıfında okuyan 46 öğrenci katılmıştır. Veriler açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan bir anket yardımıyla elde edilmiş ve nitel analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilere göre, öğrencileri dershanelere gitmeye iten pek çok neden vardır ve bunlardan en ilginç olanı sosyal çevrenin etkisidir. Ayrıca öğrenciler dershane matematiğini sorgulamaya yer vermeyen, çok soru çözümüne dayalı pratik ve kısa çözüm yollarının öğretildiği ezberci bir matematik olarak nitelemektedir.

This article is a reflection based on information from research undertaken from a socio-historical perspective with analytical, interpretive and critical methodology; it is about the multifaceted personality of the Cuban intellectual Dulce María Borrero. The essential purpose is to provide her intellectual profile in the context and emphasize her contributions to the Republican education of the first half of twentieth century in Cuba, mainly at the primary level, in close interaction with the Cuban socio-educational process of her time.

School design has important effects on student academic success and well-being. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), many schools built in the 1970s were designed with a pragmatic view, focusing on cost and generalizability. As schools seek to upgrade and align their buildings with contemporary approaches to schooling, it is important to understand what design elements are working and what can be changed to improve student learning and well-being.

This policy paper discusses the findings of a recent case study of a local private school in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah regarding students’ and teachers’ current school experiences, sense of connection to, and aspiration for their school campus. The findings suggest that students have a strong connection to certain spaces in their school and have a strong preference for creating a calmer, more natural learning environment. Educators echoed students’ desire for a calm, natural environment. Additionally, they stressed the need for spaces that provide flexibility and allow for exploration and collaboration.

Homeschooling has become an increasingly prevalent form of alternative education around the world, including within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (AlDhaheri, 2024; Nandkeolyar, 2021). However, it remains a significantly under-researched topic, with few studies examining the experiences, attitudes, or perspectives of homeschoolers. This qualitative study provides an in-depth analysis of the experiences of 15 homeschooling families in the UAE, focusing on identifying applicable education laws and policies, reasons for parents to pursue homeschooling, and challenges faced by such families at the micro-, meso-, and macro- levels. Based on our case study, the findings suggest that some parents in the UAE, similar to other contexts, choose to homeschool to customize their children’s education to their needs, reinforce family and religious values, navigate learning disabilities, and avoid perceived negative features of mainstream education. Some of the key challenges that parents face while they homeschool include pressures on the family unit, especially mothers as the primary learning facilitators, social stigma, and obstacles to re-entry to mainstream education at the school level as well as in relation to higher education domestically. In light of such challenges, our recommendations include facilitating the recognition of homeschooling, albeit with quality assurance measures, in addition to challenging social stigma and conducting further research on homeschooling.

This open access book provides a topical overview of education, development plans, the knowledge economy, and human development in the State of Qatar, focusing on socio-political and cultural challenges, from a policy perspective. It describes the ecosystem of education and its features, impacts, and the factors that facilitate or inhibit its current shape and development, including the pendulum of internationalization versus localization of education and indigenous knowledge. The book serves as an arena to engage vital discourse on the importance of early childhood education and inclusive education systems, particularly for those with diverse abilities. In view of the transformations occurring in the education systems in the Gulf Region over the past few decades, the book examines the advancement of education in Qatar and the critical political, economic, and cultural influences shaping education development plans, reforms, and policies. This paper reports on findings related to the characteristics of effective secondary schools in Abu Dhabi from the perspectives of their stakeholders; namely, principals, teachers, students and parents. More specifically, the close examination of these stakeholders" perceptions made it possible to identify some overriding items out of five key sets of factors proposed in a survey that may contribute to improving effective schools within the UAE secondary education system. These factors correlate with those identified in the earlier school effectiveness literature and include school factors, teaching and learning factors, student factors, school-home relationship factors and local community factors. Together, these factors serve as an epistemic foreground for reframing the school effectiveness and school improvement debate in Abu Dhabi and in the UAE in general, perhaps leading towards more significant reform alignment. The data were taken from research conducted in three regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

This paper provides an analytical discussion of the regulatory challenges surrounding the SLMC's dual role, using the SAITM case as a focal point. This further investigates the regulatory challenges faced by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) in the context of the establishment of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM). Through qualitative data collection and analysis, the study explores the dual role of SLMC as both a professional body for medical doctors and a regulatory authority for the healthcare sector. Findings highlight a potential conflict of interest inherent in this dual role, where professional interests may influence regulatory decisions. The study further examines public perceptions of medical education pathways and the impact of professional bodies on the accessibility of medical training. The research concludes with recommendations for policy reforms to ensure balanced, impartial, and transparent regulatory practices in the healthcare sector.

In order to investigate charter schools in Bogotá, Colombia, we collected qualitative and quantitative data across all levels of one charter management organization and its five charter schools serving some of the lowest-income communities in the city. These schools are part of an innovative Colombian public-private educational reform called the Colegios en Concesión (CEC) program in which public moneys are given to private groups to administer city schools (similar to charter schools in North America). We conducted an ecological analysis of teaching, learning, and school organization in the five schools. We found that these schools do very well based on official academic and non-academic indicators and in this paper we discuss reasons for their success as well as limitations related to implementation. The paper closes with recommendations for charter schools and educational improvement not only for in Bogotá, but for education, more broadly.

In the context of higher education, this systematic review article explores the effectiveness of various interventions aimed at strengthening resilience in engineering students and their direct impact on academic performance. The study reviewed 68 articles, from which 20 studies were selected for a detailed analysis. The strategies evaluated include fostering gratitude, meeting psychological needs, and promoting healthy family relationships, all of which are essential for building resilience. The results show that these interventions not only improve resilience but also positively influence students' academic performance. The article's conclusion emphasizes the importance of implementing programs that, in addition to enhancing resilience, directly contribute to academic success. The need for further research in this field is highlighted, stressing the potential of these strategies to improve the emotional and academic well-being of engineering students. This analysis provides valuable insights for future studies.

Government open data is a booster for government performance, transparency, and innovation. The purpose of this study to investigate how researchers use Dubai open data on Dubai Pulse platform, Using Dubai open data for Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai)KHDA(shows was not covered by academic researchers. To find the reasons behind that, a systematic review were conducted for all published papers and academic researchs in the period of 2015 until 2019. 68 articles were identified, but only 38 articels passed the including/excluding criteria, and considered within this study. The majority of researchers focus mainly on detailed students' datasets. on the other hand the published KHDA open dataset provide many usefull datasets but it's not including detailed students datasets;a gap between the required datasets by researchers and what KHDA open dataset provide is found. Therefore, to bridge the gap and improve researches in educational domain, KHDA needs to provide more students' details that supports machine-readable format to become useful and usable for researchers.

La literatura internacional define las características de los profesionales efectivos de niveles intermedios que logran impulsar procesos de mejoramiento continuo en los aprendizajes y la formación de los estudiantes. En Chile, los sostenedores están en tránsito desde un rol de administrador hacia uno de liderazgo en el plano técnico pedagógico. El artículo revisa las leyes y normativas que han moldeado su rol, para luego mostrar los resultados de una encuesta aplicada a sostenedores que informa de las funciones que realizan y de su importancia, el tiempo que le dedican a distintas actividades, la evaluación de su preparación para asumir las nuevas tareas y el apoyo técnico pedagógico que entregan a sus establecimientos. Los resultados indican que continúan asignando más importancia y tiempo a las funciones administrativas y que si bien liderar en lo técnico pedagógico es considerado importante, le dedican menos tiempo y declaran poca preparación para ello. El artículo da cuenta de la urgencia de formar a los sostenedores en lo que hoy se espera de ellos, en particular, en el ámbito público, considerando la nueva figura legal de los Servicios Locales de Educación Pública.

Financial capital can be best understood as a way and manner of those agents who have their wealth in forms of money or any other assets and in this way, they use this wealth to draw plans and act in the direction where their wealth is most likely to increase (Perez, 2003).
In the process, the financial actors or agents may end up getting bonds, deposits, stock, diamond or whatever. At the end of the day, they may end up receiving interests or capital gains but with a purpose of having wealth in the form of money whether liquid or not and making it grow.
Investment can generally mean the use of money for the purpose of profit or achieving success in business (Lagos trader conference, 2019).

According to (Edu-Aid, 2019), Investing in education is key because it helps in developing human capital in any given economy. Therefore education investment is simply investing in human capital information. Education investment or investing in human capital information can be done in a number of ways including; school establishment and maintenance, as a business option or as a way of attaining any specific education type by individuals to increase on their incomes or employment chances.
Investing in education is important because it is basically a way in which training and the world at work can be connected. It is important to note that education investment helps in provision of human capital for development and provision of life opportunities (Khaoba, 2014).
In this 21st century, investing in education is relevant because of the many challenges faced in it (Omona, 2012). These challenges are most suffered by the private sector. Education is therefore important because it helps in providing a sense of directions.
Financial support in private schools is needed for salaries, wages, purchase of equipment, materials and for development of structures like class rooms and dormitory’s (Tomusange et al., (2021)).
In accessing financial capital for education investment as contribution to private sector development, it is important that the challenges and opportunities in terms of contribution to the development of the private sector are considered.

Parents' involvement in educational activities and its effects on attainments of the secondary level students were investigated through this study which was based upon a common notion that parents interest and involvement in educational activities of thier children results in measurable and significant educational gains for them. Population of the study comprised of 9 & 10 class students and 600 students enrolled in th th various secondary schools were taken as sample. Test of Chi Square ( ) was applied to analyze the data. 2 The results showed that parents' involvement play very vital role in the educational activities and significantly ameliorates the educational attainments of their children. It is hoped that this study will probably assist in influencing the deportment of the parents who ignore education of their children.

This study was carried out among teachers in public primary and secondary schools in Western Kenya. This study adopted Dewey’s Pragmatic paradigm where workable methods are used for problem solving. School in the shadow: Private education in Stockholm 1735. During the early eighteenth century, private education was a more significant sector of the educational market than was public education, regarding the number of students and teachers, the presence of female students and teachers, the social background of the students, and the introduction of a more diverse and modern curriculum. Hitherto, little has been known of the actual scope or general conditions of private education, which has been over-shadowed by studies of public education. The article maps private education through the Stockholm Church Consistory’s (Stockholms stads konsistorium) thorough inventory of private teachers in the capital of Sweden during 1734–36, providing information of both suppliers and consumers within the private sector of the educational market, as well as of the practice and functions of private education in early modern time.

This study examines the impacts of privatization and neoliberal policies in education in Turkey. Since the 1980s, claims that the state was unable to provide many services effectively have brought privatization to the forefront, and this policy has also influenced the education sector. The research focuses on parents' preferences for public and private schools, analyzing how factors such as economics, social dynamics, and educational quality shape these choices. The study adopts a qualitative phenomenological approach, analyzing data collected from semi-structured interviews with parents. The findings are categorized around six main themes: reasons for school choice, educational quality, social and economic segregation, parental involvement and relationships, economic burdens, and the role of the private sector in education. Parents prefer public schools due to free education and experienced teachers, while private schools are chosen for their social opportunities and security. However, the high costs of private schools place a significant financial burden on families. The results highlight the need to develop new policies to ensure equal opportunities in education and reduce social segregation.

This paper studies the role of education as a way of reducing private rent seeking activities and increasing output. In many underdeveloped economies, for most individuals, there is no private return to education. Nonetheless, according to this paper, governments are better off by investing in public education. We view education as a means to build personal character, thereby affecting macroeconomic long run equilibrium by reducing the number of individuals who are engaged in private rentseeking activities. We show that education is more efficient than ordinary law enforcement because it has a long-run effect. The policy implication of this result is that even when education does not increase human capital, compulsory schooling will be beneficial in pulling underdeveloped economies out of poverty.

Over the last decade, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made several efforts to sensitize its majority non-national population to the country’s culture and national identity and integrate them into their second home. School education has been one of the mediums used to teach non-nationals the UAE’s language, culture, and identity. However, how schools in the UAE implement these state-led national identity projects for non-nationals is yet to be studied. The paper closes this research gap and examines implementation strategies and challenges experienced by Indian curriculum schools across the UAE. The paper reveals how non-national students are absorbed into the UAE’s national identity discourses through the school curriculum, activities, and practices. Teaching and learning the Arabic language and limited social interactions with native Arabic speakers are significant challenges faced by Indian curriculum schools, comprised mainly of non-Emirati, non-Arab students. The paper recommends potential policies for relevant stakeholders to overcome these challenges and further integrate non-nationals into the UAE society.

Private higher education has experienced explosive growth since the 2018 law reforming apprenticeship. Student demand for these private offerings is considered self-evident. The purpose of this study is to deconstruct this notion by showing that the demand is the result of a process of creation, and then capture once this demand is created. The demand for these programs does not pre-exist the offering to the extent that demand actors have a limited knowledge of higher education. The programs fit into these cognitive gaps as well as into the imaginaries of prospective higher education seekers by adopting an enchantment rhetoric. The 2018 apprenticeship reform leads to an opportunistic effect that accelerates the development of private schools, which monopolize the professionalization process. These schools then employ continuous marketing strategies to capture, stimulate, and retain demand, using various intermediaries. The space in which these strategies take place is profoundly marked by information asymmetries, making higher education a specific market where a fabricated framework is put in place by schools, in the absence of regulation or with the complacency of public policies.
