Mirror neurons and Intersubjectivity

In everyday discourse, arguments, which are expected to be logical and reasonable, are used to advance positions and to make statements. However, there are arguments that are known to be illogical and are generally referred to as fallacies which are errors in reasoning. These fallacies, which are informal in nature, are known to have a psychological dimension in the pattern of illusions and deceptions that violate argument rules used in rational thinking or argumentation. The problem this paper deals with is that these fallacies are deceptive and unfortunately are sometimes deliberately used to deceive and mislead others. The deliberate intention to deceive, mislead or induce someone or people to accept a claim undermines human dignity and cannot allow for genuine dialogue and authentic communication. The question of the effect of fallacies in human communication and relationship has raised concerns. Using existential theories of Martin Buber, Gabriel Marcel and Karl Jaspers, this paper seeks to give an existential analysis of the influence of informal fallacies on the human person. Through the expository and analytical method, this paper concludes that the deliberate use of fallacies in communication and relationships to deceive others is an affront on human dignity and militates against authentic existence. By learning to recognize fallacies and having a critical thinking disposition, we can avoid being deceitful and being misled by others.

Il presente contributo intende approfondire il pensiero di Maurice Merleau-Ponty con particolare riferimento al concetto di intersoggettività e alle sue implicazioni nel contesto pedagogico e neuroscientifico. La filosofia merleau-pontiana, inscritta nella tradizione fenomenologica, decostruisce la dicotomia soggetto-oggetto e propone una visione incarnata della coscienza, nella quale il corpo è il medium fondamentale dell'esperienza e della relazione. L'intersoggettività, concepita non come semplice coesistenza di più soggetti ma come struttura originaria della soggettività stessa, diventa chiave interpretativa per ripensare la relazione educativa, specialmente nei contesti inclusivi. Inoltre, l'articolo mostra come la riflessione merleau-pontiana trovi un terreno di dialogo fecondo con le neuroscienze contemporanee, in particolare con la scoperta dei neuroni specchio, confermando l'ipotesi di una comprensione empatica pre-riflessiva. L'elaborazione concettuale si articola in cinque sezioni: 1) la fenomenologia del corpo vissuto; 2) l'ontologia dell'intersoggettività; 3) l'implicazione pedagogica della corporeità; 4) l'educazione inclusiva dei soggetti con disabilità; 5) il rapporto tra fenomenologia e scienze cognitive; La conclusione propone una rinnovata idea di educazione come incontro tra soggettività incarnate.

Di tale struttura bipolare vengono ricercate ed esplorate le radici e le fondamenta, biografiche ed epistemologiche, nella vita e negli scritti di J.L.Moreno. Ripercorrendo poi le tappe dello sviluppo della personalità secondo le teorizzazioni moreniane, vengono definiti i fattori attivanti e strutturanti della citata polarità. Established scholars typically regard the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas as one that offers a morally elevated, and even religious, sense to the meaning of ethics. He uses many descriptions to encapsulate his understanding of ethics, but a common shorthand is “the calling into question of freedom.” This dissertation aims to answer the following question: What becomes of freedom after it has been submitted to Levinas’s ethical critique? Engaging this question emphasizes the distinctively political significance of Levinas’s philosophy, a significance that is often regarded as lacking. However, my project treats freedom as a unique prism through which to interpret Levinas’s philosophy. Focusing on his analyses of the organic body and enjoyment (jouissance), I argue that his conception of the sensible body reveals the limit at which the liberal tradition becomes incapable of securing the freedom it promises. Where liberalism fails in this regard, I propose the idea of “mutual enjoyment,” which summarizes an interpretation of Levinas’s thought that emphasizes the materiality of social freedom. Part of this endeavor requires countering those interpretations that tend to stress the “absoluteness” of Levinasian alterity and the “height” of “the Other.” By attending more closely to the organic body—and less “the face”—we find in Levinas a notion of responsibility “for the Other” that is concretely conceptualized as a form of human solidarity, oriented towards the satisfaction of mutually sustained and articulated social needs.

L'irrazionalità sembra il dato prevalente dei fenomeni sociali che ogni giorno ci "informano", tramite il monolitico arcipelago dei mezzi di comunicazione di massa, dell'imminente fine di un segmento di storia. La fine di un Millennio che precede l'inizio di un un Nuovo Millennio: il Terzo Millennio, appunto. Certo forse non è compito delle televisioni e dei giornali spiegarci cos'è, nella realtà fisica e psicologica di ognuno di noi, la storia ed il tempo, questo è compito da filosofi o da psicoanalisti, ma ci pare che l'osservazione, attraverso l'occhio mediatico di questo precipitare verso la fine di un tempo (del tempo?), produca comunque effetti angoscianti, con i suoi spettacoli di violenza, di morte, di inutilità di ogni atto individuale che possa avere uno scopo trascendente la temporalità storica della nostra esistenza individuale. Spesso si punta il dito inquisitore sulla scienza e sulla tecnologia che ha prodotto un mondo disumano, in cui le macchine con la loro capacità di trasformare in maniera globale e veloce la realtà sembrano diventate le protagoniste "aliene" della realtà. Macchine complesse che producono e trasformano realtà sempre più complessa. Tanto da farla apparire come falsa, vuota, insensata, "virtuale". La scienza e la conoscenza sono diventate materie esoteriche, accessibili solo agli "iniziati". La massa della gente comune non può capire e quindi va "controllata", "indirizzata", "guidata", ma lo stesso a sentirsi padrona del proprio destino e a dare un senso alla propria soggettività. Annaspa nella spiegazione sintetica della realtà, cerca di reinventarla con forme spettacolari di rappresentazione virtuale, armata solo di un corpo che ingombra e da categorie di pensiero rigide, insufficienti a spiegare il senso della propria realtà individuale. Ma la storia non è un segmento ed il tempo non ha un inizio ed una fine. Ed il bisogno di identità soggettiva non si risolve con la partecipazione a momenti o a rappresentazioni parziali della realtà. Poichè la realtà ha per noi un valore esistenziale è necessario entrare nella sua complessità, essere partecipi coscientemente della complessità e delle forme in cui essa si manifesta e ci manifesta. E' messo in discussione il concetto stesso di realtà ed il significato che noi diamo a questo termine. La realtà fisica, mentale e psicologica. Riassunto: L'articolo cerca un fondamento fenomenologico alle forme dell'esperire collettivo che emergono nei fenomeni sonori delle masse. Attraverso un'analisi dei modi fenomenologici dell'affetto, così come il contributo scheleriano ha cercato di mettere in evidenza per il contagio affettivo, e attraverso la riflessione sulle forme non autoreferenziali della coscienza, si ricerca un terreno che permetta di comprendere le forme collettive dell'intenzionalità.

Abstract: In this paper, I try to outline the phenomenological fundament of the collective experiences which emerges along with the sound phenomena of the masses. Through an analysis of the phenomenological modes of affect, as Scheler tried to point out for the affective contagion, and through the reflection on non-self-referential forms of consciousness, I will attempt to comprehend the collective forms of intentionality.

Although the importance of the psychiatric diagnostic interview is undeniable in the actual clinical practice, its peculiarities as a specific kind of interpersonal phenomenon have not attracted much attention in the literature. This chapter approaches the diagnostic interview from the perspective of research on social cognition, by drawing on discussions about the difference between secondperson and third-person relations. We start by motivating a picture of the diagnostic interview according to which the clinician has to draw on multiple sources of diagnostically relevant information. This picture leads to the question of how to approach the complexity of the interview, and the role that the distinction between second-person and third-person relations might play for a better understanding of it. By elaborating on a conceptualization of second-person relations which foregrounds the roles of reciprocity and communication, we propose that second-and third-person relations are complementary methodological tools by means of which the clinician seeks to gain a better understanding of the patient.

In this article, I will reflect on Husserl's references to Descartes' philosophy. My aim is to show why Descartes can be considered an exemplary case within Husserl's investigations on history of philosophy. In the first part, I will consider the image of Descartes in Husserl's philosophy, which remains virtually unchanged until his late work. Then I will stress the ambivalence that runs through Husserl's evaluation of the French philosopher. In the second part of this article, after discussing the meaning of Husserl's Dichtung der Philosophiegeschichte and Crisis' zigzag method, I will debate the reasons behind Husserl's corrections to Descartes' thought. Finally, in the third session, I will show Descartes' function for the philosophy of the present.

Δημοσιεύεται σε επεξεργασμένη και εμπλουτισμένη μορφή το κείμενο της ανακοίνωσης στο συνέδριο «Νόσος και λογοτεχνία» (Κεντρικό Κτήριο ΕΚΠΑ, 27-28 Μαΐου 2023) που διοργανώθηκε από το Εργαστήριο Ιστορίας του Βιβλίου και την Ιατρική Σχολή του ΕΚΠΑ. Στη μελέτη αναζητούνται τα κοινά στοιχεία που συνδέουν μία σειρά από ποιήματα και ποιητικά βιβλία των τελευταίων δεκαετιών όπου θεματοποιείται η νόσος και η εμπειρία της νοσηλείας σε νοσοκομείο ή σε ψυχιατρικό ίδρυμα. Το βασικό corpus των εξεταζόμενων ποιημάτων και βιβλίων κατά τη χρονολογική τάξη τους είναι: Οδυσσέας Ελύτης, «La pallida morte» από Τα ελεγεία της Οξώπετρας (1991)· Ηλίας Λάγιος, Φεβρουάριος 2001 (2002)· Γιώργος Βέλτσος, Ησυχία (2007 και 2021)· Βαγγέλης Αθανασόπουλος, Προετοιμασία ταφής (2012). Τα παραπάνω ποιήματα ή ποιητικά βιβλία σχολιάζονται κυρίως με άξονα την αποτύπωση της εμπειρίας της νόσου/νοσηλείας ως δραματικής ταλάντευσης: από τη μία, η ρεαλιστική καταγραφή των αρνητικών ψυχοσυναισθηματικών συνεπειών από την παραμονή στον χώρο του νοσοκομείου· από την άλλη, η ποιητική γραφή ως μηχανισμός ονειρικής ή φαντασιακής απόδρασης από το νοσοκομείο.

Già da un bel po' di tempo, sempre con più frequenza, si ascolta menzionare il vocabolo empatia, utilizzandolo a volte anche con grande facilità… Ma cos'è veramente l'empatia? La genesi del vocabolo è greca, significa: sentire profondamente l'altro, ed è, evidentemente, un'abilità che non tutti sviluppano al meglio. Se l'umanità percepisse veramente l'altro con tutte le sue emozioni, sicuramente non farebbe guerra... L'empatia rimanda a quella capacità di entrare all'unisono con l'alterità, in filosofia, e ricordiamo che il concetto di empatia è stato introdotto verso la fine del XIX secolo da Robert Vischer, studioso di arti figurative secondo i canoni dell'estetismo, per definire le capacità della fantasia umana di cogliere il valore simbolico della natura. Utilizzava, egli, il termine 'einfuhlung', che fu poi tradotto con il termine 'empaty'. Lipps, inoltre, introdusse l'empatia nella dimensione della psicologia, parlando delle profondità dell'esperienza dell'altro e introducendo così il problema dell'alterità ripreso dalla Scuola Fenomenologica e quindi da Husserl. Successivamente la neurobiologia introdusse il fenomeno dei neuroni a specchio (cui molto si deve al "Maestro Empatico" del Movimento Giacomo Rozzolatti) ovvero l'altro percepito in noi stessi. Illuminato dal proprio sentire artistico a 360 gradi e capendo che l'unico modo per potersi completare fosse la riunione con gli altri, il poeta e scrittore Menotti Lerro avvia nel 2019 un intenso percorso di riunificazione delle arti stesse, dando vita al nuovo Movimento della Contemporaneità: l'Empatismo. Lo stesso nasce con la creazione del Centro Contemporaneo delle Arti, proprio nel 2019, in collaborazione con docenti dell'Accademia di Brera e di vari artisti del territorio Cilentano.

Philosophy Kitchen celebrates its tenth anniversary. With this issue we celebrate this decade, crossing the lines of research that have inhabited the journal in the hope of relaunching them in the years to come. Here, then, is our state of the art, from which we scientifically restart. An issue constructed as an opportunity for reflection on the journal itself, an introspective look at the past and at the same time projecting it towards the future. Among those past and present, ten members of the editorial board have chosen their own personal author of reference: ten authors that, if one had to choose, one would take to a desert island or perhaps save from universal disaster, consigning it to posterity. And ten guests, scholars of acknowledged fame, called to a re-reading of those authors, an exploration, a re-launch. To present and motivate the choices, ten freely written introductions, linking each curator, his author and his guest. What emerges is a super-synthesis of Philosophy Kitchen's position. A multifaceted position, just like the transcendental prism of the first issue, and built from and on the contamination of gazes and disciplines. The ten authors are perhaps classics: not so the ten readings that are given of them, precisely because a continuous re-founding of knowledge is possible and, therefore, necessary.

The article aims to present some constitutive aspects of our being vulnerable, starting from the distinction between the objectifying procedure typical of the science and the style of investigation of phenomenology, which describes the structures of meaning of lived experiences without reducing them to underlying causal mechanisms. The phenomenological approach shows that the essential characteristics of vulnerability do not run out within the mere weakness of a physical body or the inability to cope with diseases and injuries. Rather, through the analysis of sensitivity developed by E. Lévinas, it is possible to grasp the unexpected role of vulnerability as the foundation of subjectivity.

Questo contributo offre un confronto tra la scienza cognitiva enattivista e la fenomenologia classica, rivolgendo in particolare la sua attenzione su figure chiave come Husserl, Heidegger e Merleau-Ponty. Due questioni saranno al centro dell’indagine la relazione tra soggetto/corpo/mondo e il ruolo mediatore dell’azione all’interno di una concezione dinamica della cognizione. Quanto al primo punto, la prospettiva trascendentale che emerge dalla soggettività incarnata enfatizza la continuità tra azione, percezione e funzioni cognitive superiori, ponendo in questione la dicotomia mente-corpo a favore di un’esperienza fenomenologica unificata e continua. Il secondo punto concerne la messa in revoca del naturalismo fisicalista e la necessità di superare le assunzioni meccanicistiche, proponendo un naturalismo debole che rimanga compatibile con una prospettiva trascendentale, tale da fondare la soggettività in un organismo biologico incarnato. Da ultimo, viene esplorata un’ontologia della natura ispirata da Merleau-Ponty, che enfatizza gli aspetti qualitativi della “carne” e supera le limitazioni proprie dell’approccio husserliano.

"Ri-pensare la soggettività" è un libro che raccoglie la maggior parte delle relazioni presentate al 66° convegno di ricerca filosofica della Fondazione Centro studi filosofici di Gallarate, idealmente ospitato (a causa delle restrizioni pandemiche) dall'Università di Roma Tor Vergata  nel settembre 2021.

Sentire viscerale, percezione immediata e pre-riflessiva che supera il pensiero razionale, radicandosi nella materia e nella corporeità. Attraverso esempi concreti, dialoghi filosofici e riferimenti interdisciplinari, critichiamo il dualismo mente-corpo e proponiamo una visione integrata dell'essere umano.

Anche l'arte, come esperienza immediata, dimostra la centralità del corpo nella percezione e nell'azione. Le implicazioni filosofiche, etiche e sociali suggeriscono una rivalutazione del dolore, della sofferenza e dell'educazione, promuovendo un modello che valorizza il corpo come fondamento dell'identità.

Distinguiamo tra istinto (reazione automatica) e pulsione (movimento materiale complesso) per superare semplificazioni linguistiche e psicologiche. Critichiamo, inoltre, il concetto di "carattere" e quel di "personalità come costruzioni riduttive, riaffermando la materialità corporea come prima reale, vera, realtà, tra realtà.

Il capitolo chiude affrontando il paradosso del pensiero, che, sebbene limitante, può essere trasformato in uno strumento per decostruire le illusioni. La coscienza è reinterpretata come fenomeno materiale, evitando idealizzazioni astratte.

Il taccuino esplora il sentire viscerale come un'esperienza di conoscenza pre-logica e trans-logica, radicata nella percezione neurofisiologica del cuore. Attraverso i neuroni cardiaci, si accede a una dimensione di sapere intuitivo che precede e trascende il pensiero razionale, rivelando l'essenza dell'esperienza prima della concettualizzazione.

L'opera distingue tra pensiero non pensato e pensiero pensato, mostrando come la rete neurale cardiaca influenzi il sistema limbico e la percezione di sé pre-cognitiva. Approfondendo i fondamenti neuroscientifici, propone una visione del cuore non solo come organo biologico, ma come centro percettivo e conoscitivo che sfida i paradigmi tradizionali del logos.

La sezione pratica incoraggia il lettore a riscoprire questa facoltà dimenticata attraverso esercizi di ascolto interiore, per sincronizzarsi con l'autenticità dell'esperienza umana e superare la linearità temporal verso una concezione circolare dell'esistenza.

Husserl's interest in those questions that are at the border of human knowledge (birth, death, sleep and God)-explicitly found during the twenties and thirties-constitutes both an attempt to push phenomenological reflection beyond its limits, as much as a completely human need for explanation. e inclusion, then, of the latter in the metaphysical doctrine and their phenomenological treatment suggests the possible link between the two disciplines.

The "AttachmentLoop" is a concept that builds on these cycles by emphasizing the ongoing and repetitive nature of bonding and re-bonding in relationships. Explain that "AttachmentLoop" refers to the repetitive process by which connection, attachment, and relationship-building are reinforced through repeated positive interactions, particularly in relationships with children or young people.

The article aims to investigate the Deleuzian concepts of image and affect as precursors to the concept of the fold and the problem of individuation, through a comparison with two authors who inspired them. In the case of the image, Bergson; in the case of affect, Whitehead. Although image and affect have been primarily received in an aesthetic sense, their ontological consideration, in relation to the proposals of Bergson and Whitehead, shows their important role in rethinking the problem of subjectivation. This is because image and affect outline a new relationship between subject and experience, overcoming the subject-object dualism and placing expressivity (in the case of the image) and feeling (in the case of affect) at the centre of individuation. Considering image and affect as precursors to the fold also helps to think beyond the criteria of unity and totality, the problem of perspectivism, and the immediate relationship between fold and ethics – also through the role of the negative.

In my presentation I would like to analyse the role of intersubjectivity in the constitution of what I call “minimal mind” (originally in Vincent Torley: The Anatomy of a Minimal Mind, 2009). In this regard, it is of utmost importance that Dan Zahavi, we can say, throughout his entire philosophical career, over decades, since the early 1990s, has been arguing for the claim that there is an intrinsic, structural connection between subjectivity and self-awareness. On the other hand, he also argues, that alterity, and intersubjectivity in particular, has a crucial role in the constitution of self-awareness. As he writes, in his 1999 book, Self-awareness and alterity: “Self-awareness is a feature of subjectivity, but so are temporality, intentionality, reflexivity, corporeality, and intersubjectivity, and it was suggested that a simultaneous consideration of these different aspects would not only considerably increase our understanding of self- awareness, but also call into question the attempt to conceive of it in terms of a pure, independent, and self- sufficient self- presence” (p. 203). Zahavi argues that self-awareness is through and through infused by alterity and moments of intersubjectivity in specifics. In my presentation I would like to argue that a phenomenal consciousness is possible in itself, without every form of intersubjectivity, but it cannot be concrete, (in this way, I would like to join Zahavi’s view in an ultimately affirmative manner). As I have been claiming since 2020, (Marosan: “Husserl on Minimal Mind and the Origins of Consciousness in the Natural World”, in Husserl Studies, 2021), minimal mind is an incredibly rich phenomenon in itself already, but now I try to show that it has some impoverished, “abstract” forms of functioning. In my paper I try to shed more light on this claim.

Il presente lavoro intende fare chiarezza sul temine empatia, spesso utilizzato nel linguaggio comune per indicare una generica partecipazione emotiva alle esperienze altrui, mettendo in luce come la teoria elaborata da Edith Stein, in chiave fenomenologica, possa rappresentarne l’essenza.
La prima parte della tesi comprende un excursus storico sull’evoluzione del termine empatia e un’analisi dell’opera di Edith Stein. Nella seconda parte, attraverso la revisione narrativa, è stato possibile delineare gli aspetti originali del pensiero della filosofa sui concetti di empatia e intersoggettività. Nella sua tesi dottorale, Il Problema dell’empatia (1917), Edith Stein definisce l’empatia come un’ esperienza sui generis. L’elemento innovativo, apportato dalla filosofa, è che l’esperienza vissuta dal soggetto empatico è originaria mentre il suo oggetto è non originario, poiché appartiene ad un vissuto originario per un altro soggetto. L’empatia non è quindi il tipo di percezione standard, che viviamo abitualmente in prima persona, ma una forma di presentificazione, il cui oggetto è l'esperienza incarnata di un altro. Questa condizione di esseri incarnati rende l'empatia un'esperienza profondamente umana che va oltre la semplice comprensione intellettuale; mette in luce come il nostro corpo non è semplicemente un contenitore della mente, ma una parte integrante dell'esperienza relazionale. Stein rifiuta le diverse teorie sull'empatia proposte dai suoi colleghi - imitazione, associazione, inferenza per analogia - a causa dell'assenza di riconoscimento dell'irriducibilità dell’alterità. Questo dimostra come il concetto di empatia delineato dalla filosofa, che si vuole qui sostenere, va oltre la mera comprensione cognitiva e si inserisce in una dimensione di profonda connessione umana. La filosofa ha individuato tre fasi attraverso le quali si articola il processo empatico: l’emersione del vissuto, l’esplicazione appagante e la presentificazione complessiva dell'esperienza spiegata. È nella seconda fase che si ha il momento di massima prossimità tra i due soggetti, nel quale l’empatico si situa presso l’empatizzato senza diventare un tutt’uno con lui. Nonostante la Stein non si sia preoccupata dei processi subconsci che guidano l’atto empatico, è possibile sostenere che nell’esperienza empatica si è guidati dallo stato emotivo dell'altro. La condivisione del contesto e dei valori, sono elementi importanti ai fini dell’atto empatico, ma ciò non ci deve far credere che possiamo compiere atti di empatia solo se abbiamo vissuto esperienze simili a quelle dell’altro.

L’atto empatico crea una circolazione di significati, apre uno spazio alla comprensione della realtà e di sé stessi, permettendo altresì di acquisire consapevolezza dell'immagine che l'altro ha di noi. L’empatia non può essere ridotta a una semplice relazione tra "io" e “tu", ma si esprime come un "Noi". Questo "Noi" simboleggia l'irriducibilità dell’alterità, sottolineando così la natura profondamente intersoggettiva e comunitaria dell’empatia.

In this dialogue Nidesh Lawtoo and Vittorio Gallese establish new genealogical connections between the discovery of mirror neurons and a genealogical tradition in mimetic studies sensitive to embodied forms of imitation. In this interview, Hosle discusses his work over the past decades, starting from the “Philosophische Lehrjahre” (“years of philosophical apprenticeship”) between Regensburg, Tübingen, Bochum and Freiburg and from the meetings with masters and significant interlocutors (such as Tóth, Thieme, Wandschneider, Beierwaltes, Lohr, Böckenförde, without forgetting Apel and Jonas). Multiple themes dot the path of thought retraced in this dialogue: from the rethematization of Hegel’s (and Vico’s) objective idealism through transcendental pragmatics to the delineation of the relationship between ethics and politics via a theory of comedy.

In questo articolo viene rivalutato il dualismo cartesiano, rivisitandolo tuttavia completamente tramite l'utilizzo del metodo fenomenologico. Ho cercato di evidenziare il modo in cui il dualismo si mostra effettivamente come fenomeno osservabile; ciò è possibile soltanto se si cambia profondamente il senso con cui di solito si usano i concetti di "corpo" e "spirito", superando il loro uso reificato e metafisicamente astratto.

The nature of human mind is a key subject for philosophy and for psychology. It is agreed that many of its characteristics and performances have been built during the last 7 million years of our primate evolution. That period began with what is called the pan-homo split, the divergence in primate evolution from the Last Common Ancestor (LCAncestor) we share with chimpanzees. The mental specificities that differentiate us from our chimpanzee cousins have been built up during that time. As consequence, philosophical and psychological investigations relative to the nature of human mind should analyze that period. But this has been done only in a limited way so far. On part because the recent discipline of Evolutionary Psychology covers only a limited segment of that period and also because Husserl, the founding father of Phenomenology, took the position to not address a possible evolutionary nature of human mind (the "proscription of anthropology in Phenomenology") [1]. We would like here to recall these limitations and introduce possible openings (this is a continuation of an already presented approach [18] [4]). Evolutionary Psychology is interested in the life and social habits of our hunter-gatherer ancestors in order to highlight mental states that were pertinent for them but do not fit with our today lives. The pre-human period considered by Evolutionary Psychology is the Pleistocene which began 2.5 million years ago. At about that time our homo-habilis ancestors were already significantly more evolved and more performant than the LCAncestor we share with chimpanzees (larger brain size, fabrication of stone tools, hands capable of precision grip, …). This means that at the beginning of the Pleistocene our ancestors were already well advanced in their evolution toward today humans. This shows that the build up of our human characteristics and specificities began before the Pleistocene, and neglecting the pre-Pleistocene time puts at risk of missing some root causes of our human specificities. This brings to consider that Evolutionary Psychology should take into account the pre-human period beginning at the pan-homo split, not only the Pleistocene. Regarding philosophy, the proscription of anthropology in Phenomenology is currently challenged with some interest in Evolutionary Psychology [9] [8]. To avoid the risk of limiting human evolution to Pleistocene Phenomenology should explicitly plan to use anthropology on the whole evolutionary period beginning at panhomo split. In such a perspective some help could come from an existing evolutionary scenario starting at pan-homo split and introducing a nature of self-consciousness associated to anxiety management [4]. The scenario introduces an Evolutionary Engine based on primate intersubjectivity which could have led our ancestors to build a representation of their own entity, thus leading to a natural build up of self-consciousness. Part of the scenario is also about identifications with suffering conspecifics which may have been the source of a huge anxiety, not taken into account so far and leading to an Evolutionary Anxiety intertwined with the nature of selfconsciousness. It is shown that a synergy between the evolution of self-consciousness and anxiety management happened before Pleistocene, making pre-Pleistocene a key period for understanding the nature of our human minds. Overall, the scenario proposes a rationale for the pan-homo split, a tentative explanation of the divergence in pre-human primate evolution. It is also recalled that the concept of Evolutionary Anxiety makes available an entry point to the nature of human evil [14]. We present the above points and use the proposed evolutionary scenario for a reading of human evolution from last common ancestor to today humas. Continuations are introduced.

Il tentativo e quello di istituire l’empatia come categoria pedagogica ed educativa, giustificando la nozione di intenzionalita vicariante, che definisce sia la struttura dell’empatia sia il dinamismo proprio del processo educativo. Facendo ricorso al linguaggio della filosofia e della pedagogia classica, nel saggio se ne parla come di una virtu, insieme etica e dianoetica. Il nucleo centrale di tutto diviene la fenomenologia dell’empatia, l’analisi delle intenzionalita costitutive di tale singolare virtu personale: la disposizione veritativa, l’attitudine etica e l’istanza spirituale.

Il mio lavoro di tesi si propone di analizzare la percezione, intesa come strumento efficace ed indispensabile per la conoscenza del mondo da parte di un soggetto, nelle prospettive filosofiche di Husserl e Merleau-Ponty. L'obiettivo è quello di capire quale ruolo la percezione giochi in riferimento al pensiero. Si arriverà a capire che per Merleau-Ponty l'unico modo per sviluppare pensieri sarà la possibilità di un soggetto incarnato, cioè inserito nel mondo e ad esso concomitante; mentre per Husserl si arriverà a parlare di un io spirituale che decide e si pone ad un piano forse diverso dal solo corpo, nonostante, anche per Husserl, ci sia comunque una fortissima relazione tra corpo e psiche

In this paper I dwell on the centrality of human being in Steinian phenomenological anthropology, which is emphasized as communion with the others by activating the value of empathy. BackgroundPain is common in most diseases and is usually treated by medical and physical approaches (medications, exercise). Limited attention has been given to whether non-medical approaches (such as emotion regulation abilities including self-compassion) can help further reduce the pain experienced. Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis), a painful and complex autoimmune connective tissue and vascular disease, was examined in this study in relation to psychological aspects of pain and the links of pain to (1) early life experiences, (2) current insecure attachment style, (3) physiological arousal (negative, hyper-arousal), and (4) personal emotion regulation (self-compassion). The exponential growth in neuroscience research has solicited different types of psychotherapy to extensively investigate their epistemological bases and clinical practices. Affective dynamics and clinical dialogue have been reinterpreted in the light of theories concerning the caregiver-baby dyad, strengthening the idea that what happens during therapy can be better understood through the conceptual grid of the intersubjective paradigm. The present paper promotes a new approch to relational psychotherapy that stresses the role of Forms of Vitality as global organizers of interpersonal experience and as a way of transforming implicit memories into self-reflexive representations. By connecting Stern's theoretical construct to the intersubjective paradigm, we consider Forms of Vitality to be a fecund construct in clinical settings.
