Menyadari urgensi ini, Pemerintah Kota Pasuruan, di bawah kepemimpinan Walikota Adi Wibowo, tidak tinggal diam. Sebuah langkah strategis dan visioner diambil untuk memastikan UMKM lokal tidak hanya bertahan, tetapi juga menjadi pemenang di era baru ini. Sebuah gebrakan masif bertajuk "UMKM Go Digital" kini menjadi agenda prioritas, sebuah panggilan untuk para pejuang ekonomi lokal agar berani 'naik kelas' dan merebut panggung yang lebih besar. "Kita tidak bisa lagi berbisnis dengan cara-cara lama, mengandalkan pelanggan yang kebetulan lewat di depan toko kita. Dunia sudah berubah total. Pasar kini ada di genggaman tangan setiap orang melalui smartphone. Kalau UMKM kita tidak masuk ke dunia digital, kita bukan hanya kehilangan peluang besar, tapi kita secara sukarela menyerahkan pasar kita kepada produsen dari kota lain, bahkan negara lain. Ini bukan lagi soal pilihan, tapi sebuah keharusan untuk bertahan dan bertumbuh." Ujar Mas Adi dengan penuh semangat dalam sebuah kesempatan saat bertemu dengan ratusan pelaku UMKM di Pasuruan.

Model pendampingan pemasaran dan kemitraan pada program kewirausahaan berbasis pariwisata merupakan sebuah solusi alternatif yang digunakan dalam memecahkan masalah-masalah yang terjadi pada pengembangan pemasaran dan kemitraan para pelaku usaha dalam melaksanakan kewirausahaan berbasis pariwisata. Interventions of water harvesting technologies (WHTs) in drought-prone areas like the Tigray region (northern Ethiopia) is an option less strategy to alleviate food insecurity issues emanating from water scarcity. Hence, wide spectrums of WHTs were applied in Tigray Region in the last three decades. Thus, this study aimed to assess the WHTs and the subsequent contributions in ensuring households' food security in Kilete-Awlaelo district of the Tigray Region. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through a household survey (n = 246), focus group discussion, key informants interview, and field observation, and subjected to descriptive and inferential statistical analysis on the SPSS environment. The explanatory power of the WHTs to food security was determined using a regression model. The result revealed that 64.6% of the households applied WHTs while 35.4% not. Though a statistically significant positive relationship (p < 0.05) between the WHTs (predictor) and PCC acquisition as food security parameter (predictand) was observed, the magnitude was not strong enough where only 6.1% of WHTs users and 0.81% of non-users had achieved the average standard PCC requirement (2100 kcal) from their farm production. Hence, strengthening and expanding the functional domain of the WHTs fitting to the socioeconomic , environmental, and biophysical context of the locality is profoundly indispensable.

The SDC co-funded “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project has opted for sustainable tourism as a means to revitalize natural resources for inclusive economic development in the country's rural settlements. The authors give an account of the success scored in the first two years of the project and the remaining challenges.

Model ini diharapkan dapat membuka jendela peluang kuliner dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis prospektif. Penelitian ini diharapkan menghasilkan model pariwisata desa berbasis wisata kuliner yang tepat dan berkelanjutan untuk Desa Matang Ben. Model ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa, melestarikan budaya lokal, dan menjadikan Desa Matang Ben sebagai destinasi wisata kuliner unggulan di Aceh Utara.

AbstrakDesa Wringinpitu Kecamatan Mojowarno Kabupaten Jombang merupakan desa sentra industri yang memproduksi berbagai jenis mebel. Lokasi berdirinya industri mebel yang ada di Desa Wringinpitu ini memiliki karakteristik mengelompok (aglomerasi). Aglomerasi industri mebel ini menimbulkan berbagai permasalahan, satu diantaranya yaitu persaingan yang tidak sehat antar pengrajin, meskipun demikian dalam perkembangan industri mebel ini, pengrajin sampai sekarang tetap mempertahankan kegiatan produksi guna membangun kualitas industry mebel di Desa Wringinpitu. Rural households in Liberia depend on the production and sales of natural rubber for livelihood. It is the highest contributor to GDP and foreign exchange earner in the agricultural sector. Despite the importance of natural rubber to the Liberian economy, small and medium farmers that dominate the sector are faced with production and marketing constraints, particularly poor agronomic practices, lack of training in latex tapping and processing and limited selling outlets. Little attention has been given to natural rubber and the farmer cooperative handling it. This study determined the impact of cooperative membership on the choice of selling outlets and farm income in Liberia. Cross-sectional data was collected from 200 smallholder NR farmers stratified by cooperative and non-cooperative members in Gibi and Kakata districts using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were used to compare the socioeconomic, farm, and institutional characteristics of cooperative farmers with non-cooperative farmers. A logit model was used to determine the effect of cooperative on the choice of selling outlets used. The results showed that transaction costs variables specified as ownership of transport means, distance to the nearest local market, access to market information and time taken to find buyers) and socioeconomic characteristics (household size and access to extension service) significantly influenced household choice of selling outlets. Propensity score matching (PSM) was employed to determine the impact of the natural rubber cooperative on farm income. This required estimating the propensity scores for farmers' participating in the natural rubber cooperative using a logit model. The results of the logit model indicate that socioeconomic characteristics (age, household size), institutional characteristics (training, access to production and market information, payment delays), and farm characteristics (farm size, disease type, and post-harvest losses) xiii significantly influenced household's participation decisions in the natural rubber cooperative. Using the Nearest Neighbor Matching, Radius Matching, and Kernel-Based Matching, the average treatment effect which is the difference between natural rubber cooperative farmers and non-cooperative farmers were found to be US$ 109, 138 and 138 respectively. This indicates that the natural rubber cooperative had a significant positive impact on members' income. The study recommends the establishment of market support services in the form of market information systems, accessible markets, and transportation means, will help provide up to date and reliable information on potential trading partners and prices. This will reduce the fixed transaction costs of accessing information and markets. Further, the study recommends the creation of awareness among non-cooperative farmers about the importance of collective action. This can be done through the Cooperative Development Agency of Liberia, government extension officers, and civil society organizations.

Evaluation of land characteristics for the current and potential suitability of crop production is essential to planning. This study was conducted to evaluate the capability and suitability of the land for rain-fed crop production. The study was conducted in Hitsats of Northern Ethiopia, where Eritrean refugees and domestic populations are high. The area is located at 37°52'30'' to 38° 0'30''E and 14°8'0'' to 14°1'3''N. Land of the study area was classified into four homogeneous land unit maps based on topography. It is a semi-arid lowland area where natural resources are degrading due to traditional gold mining as well as extensive and expanding crop cultivation. Slope was generated from Digital Elevation Model using Arc Map Version 9.3. Soil profiles were opened from each land units to measure soil depth and drainage conditions. Besides, representative soil samples from a depth of 0-20 cm were collected to examine physical and chemical properties of the soil. Moreover, bio-physical and climatic data were collected and analyzed. The chemical soil analyses showed that the area has low electrical conductivity indicating that it is salt free. The soil property analyses results indicate that the area is highly susceptible to erosion and has low fertility that limit the land capability for various field crops. Generally, three land unit maps were rated as capable for rain-fed crop production. Whereas, the fourth land unit was not capable due to permanent limitations associated with slope and soil depth. The area was found to have 117 days of growing period, which is moderately suitable for all the rain-fed crops cultivated in the area (sorghum, finger miller and sesame). Sorghum and finger millet were limited by rainfall whereas suitability of the area for sesame was limited by temperature. Soil and landscape suitability evaluation showed that all land unit maps are marginally suitable for the rain-fed crops. The overall land suitability was marginal for all the principal crop due to poor soil fertility, slope and high erosion aggravated by deforestation and traditional gold mining on farmlands. Considering the potential land suitability, 62.05% is highly suitable for sorghum and finger millet but moderately suitable for sesame, 26.06% moderately suitable for all crops and 11.89% not suitable. The land suitability of the area can be enhanced by implementing appropriate interventions such as soil and water conservation, improving soil fertility as well as agronomic practices.

This research aims to investigate the policies implemented by the Masbagik Utara Baru village government in dealing with the community&#39;s economic crisis caused by Covid-19. This study was conducted for six months in Masbagik Utara Baru, East Lombok. (January-June 2022). This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research uses Participant observation, in-depth interviews, and study documentation as data collection methods. The findings revealed that Covid-19 reduces business activities, affecting household income, job creation, and business opportunities. This study investigates the complex relationship between infrastructure, accessibility, and consumer choices for mobile phones in Sierra Leone. Comprehending the abstraction dynamics is essential to understanding mobile phone adoption in developing countries in its entirety. The study utilized quantitative approach. The factorability of the data in this study was evaluated using the Bartlett's test of Sphericity and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy. The method known as Varimax orthogonal factor rotation was utilized to reduce the quantity of variables with high loadings on each factor. After the factorial analysis multiple regression was used to explain the relationship between the choices of mobile phones and Network coverage, Battery life, Repair and Maintenance, and Mobile internet access Strong internal consistency was supported by Cronbach's alpha values, indicating the reliability of the questionnaire. The composite reliability values and Average Variance Extracted were found to be within reasonable bounds, demonstrating that each construct's internal structure is reliable. The study established a significant relationship between Choice of Mobile Phones and Network coverage, Battery life, Repair and Maintenance, and Mobile internet access. This implies that at least one predictor variable significantly contributes to explaining the variability in the dependent variable and that the regression model as a whole is statistically significant. The close alignment between the predicted and observed values validates the effectiveness of the regression model. By exploring this relationship, this paper offers important insights into how infrastructure-related issues affect the state of mobile technology in developing nations.

Education is one of the most significant and persistent development challenges globally. Despite 65 years of investment of aid money into education in developing countries, the number of children emerging with key skills remains critically low. While enrolment has increased, there is evidence that this is the result of target chasing and has had limited impact on educational outcomes. The limited impact of aid on education should not be surprising. At best, aid to education has provided only a small supplement to an already broken system. This paper proposes a framework for the analysis of the motivations of aid programmes, and then employs this framework to examine different approaches to education and the parameters according to which they have succeeded or failed. Using the framework to explain why prevailing approaches have resulted in the outcomes realized, the paper then examines the possibility for an alternative approach to be taken to intervention in education, one which attempts to change the way the education system operates to create a sustainable, large-scale impact. This potential is explored through an innovative programme being implemented in Lagos, Nigeria, which attempts to adopt such an approach.

Industrial centers are often used as places for small and medium enterprise (SMEs) development activities and sources of regional income. This includes wooden batik centers in the DIY Province, namely in Putat Village, Gunung Kidul Regency, and Sendangsari Village, Bantul Regency. However, the development activities of SMEs in industrial centers in Indonesia were not optimal, one of the reasons is the management strategy. Makalah penelitian ini mengungkap dampak pandemi COVID 19 pada pelaku UMKM di Industri Rotan Trangsan Sukoharjo yang dilakukan pada tahun 2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan UMKM dalam menjaga keberlanjutan produksi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode campuran antara kualitatif dan kuantitaf berupa observasi lapangan, wawancara dari pelaku industri untuk mengumpulkan data produk UMKM rotan Trangsan Sukoharjo dengan dasar pemikiran Teori Perubahan Sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya tren pemesan produksi industri rotan terus meningkat pada masa pandemi. Meskipun pasokan supply sumber bahan baku rotan masih belum baik dan pengembangan desain produk tampak tidak memiliki perbedaan pada saat sebelum dan sesudah pandemi. Makalah ini memberikan bukti masih terjaganya produksi UMKM rotan di Trangsan Sukoharjo pada masa pandemi.

CARE, Save the Children, and World Vision are combining value chain development (VCD) with gender and nutrition programming to alleviate poverty and food insecurity among the extremely poor. We explore what is unique about VCD with the extremely poor and how specific levers enhance productivity and profitability, equity, and empowerment. We offer evidence to date and lessons learned.

Market-based approaches to food security often increase agricultural productivity and income yet sometimes fail to enhance nutrition. When food security programming combines market and food systems with a specific focus on women and girls, economic and nutrition outcomes benefit. We identify distinctive and shared elements from market and food systems and highlight how they enhance nutrition outcomes when they are combined. We describe food security programming by CARE and World Vision in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, demonstrating nutrition gains in food insecure households.

Jamu tradisional digunakan oleh masyarakat untuk menjaga imun tubuh agar tidak mudah terpapar virus Corona. Munculnya UMKM baru saat pandemic Covid-19 di Indonesia didominasi oleh usaha Jamu Tradisional yang diperjualbelikan secara online melalui media sosial pribadi. Tidak ketinggalan dengan tren tersebut, salah satu UMKM di Kelurahan Muara Rapak juga turut menjadi salah satu penjual Jamu Tradisional kemasan siap minum dalam botol plastik. Kemasan dan desain yang digunakan sekedarnya sehingga pasar hanya sebatas pada ruang lingkup pergaulan pemilik UMKM. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan penjualan dan perluasan pasar maka dilakukan branding kemasan dan pelatihan pengemasan yang baik. Sebagai penunjang pasokan bahan baku olahan Jamu Tradisional seperti Jahe, Kunyit dan Bawang Tiwai dibudidayakan di tanah-tanah pekarangan rumah warga Kelurahan Muara Rapak Balikpapan. Tujuan budidaya tanaman Biofarmaka sebagai bahan baku utama pembuatan jamu tradisional di Kelurahan Muara Rapak untuk menekan biaya produksi khususnya harga bahan baku di pasar yang tinggi karena permintaan jamu yang tinggi dari masyarakat. Sedangkan pengemasan dilakukan sebagai branding dan perluasan pasar.

The State of Indonesia is located between a cluster of islands and a blue ocean that holds amazing potential and diversity. Exploration and development of regional potential are expected to provide welfare for the wider community. Natuna Regency is one of Indonesia's outer islands in the Riau Islands Province. The outermost and frontier regions have their own problems which make it a 'lagging region'. The uncompromised and directed management of natural products has an impact on the local economy, social and culture. This community service aims (1) to initiate POKLAHSAR institutions (Household Scale Processing Groups) and POKDARWIS (Tourism Awareness Groups) as fisheries processing units and management of Pengadah Village beach tourism objects, (2) introduce processed processing of fishery products and identification of skills/souvenirs regional characteristics as a superior product of the Pengadah Village, (3) Forming an information system as a marketing medium and promoting the potential of superior products in the Pengadah Village. In the implementation of 2018 UB's Dedicated Doctoral (Doktor Mengabdi/DM) in the Pengadah Village, Bunguran Timur Laut District, Natuna Regency, there are several programs, including socialization and formation of POKLAHSAR, POKDARWIS, processing of fishing results in the form of fish crackers, and cendol ice from seaweed, souvenirs, as well as making a website for the Pengadah Village. Market-based approaches to food security often increase agricultural productivity and income yet sometimes fail to enhance nutrition. When food security programming combines market and food systems with a specific focus on women and girls, economic and nutrition outcomes benefit. We identify distinctive and shared elements from market and food systems and highlight how they enhance nutrition outcomes when they are combined. We describe food security programming by CARE and World Vision in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, demonstrating nutrition gains in food insecure households.

Pandemi Covid 19 berdampak serius pada Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah sebagai tulang punggung perekonomian nasional, yang berupa penurunan produksi, omset penjualan dan terjadinya pemutusan hubungan kerja. Hal ini juga dialami oleh kelompok pengrajin tahu tempe dalam wadah Primkopti Swakerta yang menempati luas lahan sebesar 1,2 hektar di Semanan, dimana mereka mengalami penurunan penjualan rata-rata 50%. Desa Branjang Kecamatan Ungaran Barat Kabupaten Semarang ditetapkan Kepala Desa sebagai rintisan desa wisata yang dikelola melalui kelembagaan pengembang desa wisata bersama Pokdarwis dan BUMDes. Akan tetapi, dalam pengelolaannya ditemui sejumlah kendala dalam mengidentifikasi produk wisata yang dapat dijadikan magnet wisata desa sehingga sampai saat ini belum dilakukan identifikasi produk baik berbasis alam, budaya, serta ekonomi kreatif di desa tersebut. The research aims to identify constraints in developing the marketing pattern of rubber in partnership. The study was conducted on 12 processing and marketing units (PMU) of rubber material which were divided into 6 each applying partnership marketing patterns and 6 non partnerships, 9 crumb rubber factories consisting of 3 partnerships, the rest not implementing partnerships. 180 sample farmers who each applied partnerships and 90 did not implement partnerships. The method of research is in depth study by observing and interviewing to exploring the variety of reasons join or not in certain marketing pattern, advantage and disadvantage the farmers' decisions in form of marketing institution, which is partnership and non partnership. Data analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative descriptively method. The research result indicated that crumb rubber factories' reasons had not cooperated with in partnership pattern are (1) the difficulty in determining of the rubber material price, (2) the uncertained supply of farmer's rubber for factory, (3) the supply is often fulfilled by traditional marketing institution, the farmers is often not hold the agreement especially during the session of low rubber price, however the factory still give guidance and help the farmers as partnership member. This research result indicates that some farmer's reasons which had not cooperated with in partnership pattern are (1) it is the lower rubber material price by factories than by middlemen, (2) PMUs is not active any more, (3) the farmers have illegal agreement in form of credit and paid by selling their product to the middlemen, (4) the payment duration of the farmer's product in auction system is too long according to the farmers and (5) the farmers often could not fulfilled selling quote of rubber material as determined in contract. The partnership members in this cooperation should discuss any problems to get good solution. The government sould always support and facilitate the commitment of partnership between the farmers and the crumb rubber factories to increase their performance in rubber marketing and to reduce any intervention from the outer institution (such as local marketing institution).

Evaluation of land characteristics for the current and potential suitability of crop production is essential to planning. This study was conducted to evaluate the capability and suitability of the land for rain-fed crop production. The study was conducted in Hitsats of Northern Ethiopia, where Eritrean refugees and domestic populations are high. The area is located at 37°52'30'' to 38° 0'30''E and 14°8'0'' to 14°1'3''N. Land of the study area was classified into four homogeneous land unit maps based on topography. It is a semi-arid lowland area where natural resources are degrading due to traditional gold mining as well as extensive and expanding crop cultivation. Slope was generated from Digital Elevation Model using Arc Map Version 9.3. Soil profiles were opened from each land units to measure soil depth and drainage conditions. Besides, representative soil samples from a depth of 0-20 cm were collected to examine physical and chemical properties of the soil. Moreover, bio-physical and climatic data were collected and analyzed. The chemical soil analyses showed that the area has low electrical conductivity indicating that it is salt free. The soil property analyses results indicate that the area is highly susceptible to erosion and has low fertility that limit the land capability for various field crops. Generally, three land unit maps were rated as capable for rain-fed crop production. Whereas, the fourth land unit was not capable due to permanent limitations associated with slope and soil depth. The area was found to have 117 days of growing period, which is moderately suitable for all the rain-fed crops cultivated in the area (sorghum, finger miller and sesame). Sorghum and finger millet were limited by rainfall whereas suitability of the area for sesame was limited by temperature. Soil and landscape suitability evaluation showed that all land unit maps are marginally suitable for the rain-fed crops. The overall land suitability was marginal for all the principal crop due to poor soil fertility, slope and high erosion aggravated by deforestation and traditional gold mining on farmlands. Considering the potential land suitability, 62.05% is highly suitable for sorghum and finger millet but moderately suitable for sesame, 26.06% moderately suitable for all crops and 11.89% not suitable. The land suitability of the area can be enhanced by implementing appropriate interventions such as soil and water conservation, improving soil fertility as well as agronomic practices.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, women's farm labor is highest in Ethiopia. Using focus group discussions with 240 farmers and other research tools, our USAID-funded Feed the Future Innovation for the Reduction of Post-Harvest Loss-Ethiopia study explores the sources of (dis)empowerment of rural farmers in Ethiopia. We find that women are disempowered across all five domains of empowerment due to cultural factors, despite government and financial institution policy changes. Women with low education tend to engage in low risk/return farming practices, including growing less nutritious crops, thereby undermining nutritional security of the household. Our findings confirm that women's role increases to as much as 80 percent in post-harvest. Poor storage technologies resulting in fungal/pest infections and chemicals in stored grains pose serious health risks for women, and poor women consume grains with up to 50 percent damage. Food security and development policies should empower women and promote improved technologies-particularly targeting women-to reduce grain losses and women's work burden while mitigating health risks.
