Management Information Systems (MIS)

This study aims to examine the utilization of Management Information Systems (MIS) in the
monitoring and evaluation of human resource (HR) performance at the Center for Human Resource
Development of Halal Product Assurance (PPSDM JPH) under the Halal Product Assurance
Organizing Agency (BPJPH). A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected
through interviews and questionnaires distributed to employees directly involved in the use of MIS.
The findings indicate that the MIS used, namely the e-Office system, has supported administrative
processes, attendance tracking, activity reporting, and performance evaluation in a structured and
real-time manner. MIS plays a significant role in improving work efficiency, transparency, and
data-driven decision-making. However, several obstacles were identified, including system access
delays, non-responsive mobile interfaces, and the need for more intensive user training. In
conclusion, MIS is a strategic tool in supporting HR management at PPSDM JPH BPJPH, although
further system improvements are needed to optimize its utilization.

The global apparel industry operates within a highly volatile and competitive environment marked by rapidly shifting consumer preferences, abbreviated product life cycles, and increasingly fragmented global supply chains. In response to these complexities, apparel companies are progressively adopting advanced predictive analytics techniques integrated with Management Information Systems (MIS) to enhance supply chain visibility, responsiveness, and decision-making accuracy. This systematic review explores the current state and strategic applications of MIS-enabled predictive analytics, with a focused examination of two pivotal domains: demand forecasting and supplier risk management. Drawing from a wide spectrum of peer-reviewed literature and empirical studies, the paper synthesizes the evolution of data-driven forecasting models, particularly those powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence, to illustrate how predictive analytics contributes to anticipating customer demand with higher precision and aligning production accordingly. Moreover, it examines the growing utilization of predictive tools in identifying, assessing, and mitigating supplier-related risks through real-time monitoring, risk scoring, and scenario analysis frameworks. The review underscores the critical role of integrated MIS platforms in consolidating internal and external data, supporting the operationalization of predictive insights, and fostering agile, data-informed supply chain strategies. It further identifies persistent challenges hindering the optimal deployment of predictive analytics, including issues related to data quality, system interoperability, lack of standardized protocols, organizational resistance to technological adoption, and ethical concerns surrounding data privacy and algorithmic bias. The review concludes by highlighting significant gaps in existing research, particularly the underrepresentation of empirical studies in small and medium-sized apparel enterprises, limited cross-functional integration frameworks, and insufficient attention to regulatory and ethical implications in global predictive ecosystems. Accordingly, the paper proposes directions for future studies, advocating for the development of sector-specific, ethically grounded, and contextually adaptive predictive frameworks that align with the digital transformation trajectory of apparel supply chains.

Gaining an understanding of Information Systems and improving IS education has become a serious issue for the IS discipline. Prior to undertaking Management Information Systems (MIS) in an MBA course, students sometimes cannot clearly explain exactly what information systems are and what they should do in practice. This paper begins by considering the various influences on the MIS curriculum and some of the conventional approaches to curriculum design, selection and organisation of teaching materials. It then offers an alternative approach by presenting a three question framework for understanding and explaining the IS field. From this basis the paper argues that these three questions can be used to guide the study, teaching and practice of MIS.

Industrial food production and lack of culturally skilled food production experts changes food preferences from liking of traditional, cultural food to homogenized food. Chefs, experts and workers tried to mingle different culture and food to cope-up with changing consumer expectation. Increased agricultural facilities and sustainability paced the food availability and consumers demands, it"s impacted on traditional and cultural food practices, even locality and seasonality of food and cuisine. Practices away from traditionality, locality and seasonality, homogenized the food in the form of globalization. This paper analyses globalization descriptively on the basis of cooking, cuisine and reason to prefer and avoid food.

This paper assesses the intellectual advancement of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) scholarship as one of the five research streams of the Management Information Systems (MIS) discipline. It particularly demonstrates the vitality and maturity that the HCI stream (or sub-discipline) has achieved in recent years, and adds to the few studies that draw an overarching picture of HCI. This study uses the same approach as that of Zhang and Li (2005), and delineates the intellectual development of HCI research in MIS by employing a multifaceted assessment of the published HCI articles over a period of 19 years (1990-2008) in eight primary MIS journals. In addition, this study includes several journal special issues and two book collections in the assessment. Twenty-four specific questions are addressed to answer the following five mega-research questions about the HCI sub-discipline: (1) What constitutes HCI's intellectual substance? (2) What relationships does HCI have with other disciplines? (3) How is HCI evolving? (4) What are the patterns of HCI publication in the primary MIS journals? And, (5) Who are the contributing scholars? A number of areas for future research are predicted, along with a discussion of potential future directions for the sub-discipline. This study is of interest to researchers in the HCI sub-discipline, the MIS discipline, and other related disciplines to inform future research, collaboration, publication, and education. It should also be of interest to doctoral students for identifying potential topics for dissertation research and to identify academic institutions for future employment where such research is understood, appreciated, and encouraged.

The online course registration system full project for software engineering or computer science student (semester final).
The system only allows users to browse course schedules and create a mock-up of their proposed schedule. Users can currently view course sections, times, and professors. The system identifies conflicts within the schedule and alerts the user to these conflicts. It does not submit this mock schedule to an advisor for approval. The schedule created on the current system must be taken to the registrar's office and the classes must be manually scheduled by hand. The only advantage currently given by the internet is the process of browsing the classes, but it does not provide an official registration. It only displays the possible options that the student can have according to the classes offered in the chosen semester. As a consequence, at the end and the beginning of every single semester, the registrar’s office is invaded by students who need to obtain the official approval for the classes that they picked on the Internet and then transcribed manually on paper.

Information technology plays an important role on productivity of organizations. Measuring and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of information technology on productivity has high-priority budget issues for numerous organizations. The primary objective of the present survey is to study the impact of information technology on productivity and decision-making process in the organization. We have examined the direct impact of Information technology on the organizations that rely on information technology and are leveraging the technology in their decision making to improve productivity. The results of this study indicate that using information technology can impact the performance of an organization and can increase the profitability of the organization by saving cost. Regression and correlation tests are applied to measure relationship between the different identified variables. The results show that there is positive relationship between performance of the organization and information technology.

The Indian retail is one of the fastest growing industries that provide a challenging way of life for more than 240 million people who earn their livelihood in this sector of the country's economy. Retailers provide the goods and services that you and I need; from food, consumer durables, leisure and entertainment, health, beauty and pharma, books and music to fashion and fashion accessories, home furnishings and telecom and more. India is a high growth economy and the retail market is likely to touch US$ 1.3 trillion by 2020, ranking it among the top retail markets in the world. The services sector contributes to over 50% of India's GDP which is favorable to the growth of consumerism and the retail sector in the country. Retailing is one of the fastest-growing segments of the economy. As one of the nation's largest employers, the retail industry provides excellent business opportunities. The entrepreneurs risk their capital, invest their time and make a living by offering consumers something they need or want. Most retailing involves buying merchandise or a service from a manufacturer, wholesaler, agent, importer or other retailer and selling it to consumers for their personal use. Most are store retailers, though there are other types of enterprises such as e-commerce, mail order, direct retailing (door-to-door), and service providers. To become an Entrepreneur, is retail the right opportunity? Weighing several factors will help answer this question. Personality, motivations, strengths and weaknesses, money, and experience are the key determinants. Making a good career decision involves both self-assessment and market research. Zimbabwe, which is an area abundant of a natural resource has attracted entrepreneurs mainly from the Eastern countries who, under "nomal" circumstances, are expected to employ the resource in production; new jobs and support industries and hence perpetuate the cycle of growth. However the state of the nation's economy is evidence enough that as much as economy has vast deposits of natural resources, the economy and its populace are not benefiting from that. It is therefore the purpose of the study is to investigate the role of fiscal linkages in industrial development (proxied by manufacturing sector output growth) in Zimbabwe. Specifically, the study examines the relationship between diamond and platinum output growth rates and manufacturing sector growth as well as assessed ways in which the government can use fiscal linkages to resuscitate the declining manufacturing sector capacity. Literature provided evidence of mixed views on the impact of natural resources on economic growth. Findings from trend and correlation analysis revealed that manufacturing output growth has a strong positive relationship with diamond output growth and a week positive relationship with platinum output growth in Zimbabwe for the period 2010 to 2017. It is therefore recommended that the government implement policies that will encourage transparency and accountability in the management of natural resource remittances as well as putting into place systems to ascertain the channelling of these funds towards resuscitation of the manufacturing sector. This will go a long way towards arresting Zimbabwe's inflation problems and help reduce the outflow of foreign currency which will in turn help stabilise the country's currency.

Abstract : Information has become an essential resource for managing modern organizations. This is so because today’s business environment is volatile, dynamic, turbulent and necessitates the burgeoning demand for accurate, relevant, complete, timely and economical i nformation needed to drive the decision - making process in order to accentuate organizational abilities to manage opportunities and threats . This paper is a reflection of amassed discourse available in literature concerning the nexus between management inf ormation systems – MIS and corporate decision - making. term planning, short-term planning and budgeting in the South-West Nigerian Universities. The study used the descriptive research design of the survey type. Data were collected from a sample of 600 subjects consisting of 400 academic staff holding administrative staff positions and 200 senior administrative staff heading units using stratified random sampling technique. Data collected were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, means, standard deviation and t-test statistics. The three hypotheses generated were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that MIS was not adequately used in decision making process on long-term planning, short-term planning and budgeting. There was no significant difference between Federal and State universities in terms of the use of MIS for decision making on both long and short term planning. There was significant difference in the use of MIS for decision making on budgeting between Federal and State universities in favour of the Federal universities. It was recommended that the MIS units should be adequately financed and maintained to ensure a free flow of information and adequate use of MIS in decision-making on shortterm and long-term planning as well as budgeting.
