A universidade tem papel importante na formação da sociedade, assim como na área da saúde. Desta forma, realizando ações de extensão, a graduação irá repassar este aprendizado e acrescentar o conhecimento a toda população local. OBJETIVOS: 1) mostrar a experiência com a capacitação dos agentes comunitários de saúde (ACS), transmitindo metodologia apropriada para qualificação de outras equipes, para que elas sejam capazes de transmitir o conhecimento e hábitos de vida saudáveis à população; 2) discutir a percepção do trabalho da equipe da fisioterapia da UFRN/FACISA entre estes agentes. METODOLOGIA: foram realizadas atividades de capacitação para os Agentes, utilizando as seguintes metodologias e recursos: apresentações em aulas dialogadas, rodas de discussões, dinâmicas, debates e realização de atividades práticas. A avaliação da percepção dos ACS, com relação ao trabalho realizado, foi feita com questionário auto-aplicado. RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO: a unidade básica possui 13 agentes, sendo que 12 avaliaram nosso trabalho. De modo geral, o trabalho foi muito bem avaliado. Percebemos que a capacitação com os agentes tem suma importância para a população que carece de qualificação constante em saúde. A Fisioterapia ainda é pouco difundida na atenção básica. CONCLUSÕES: a transmissão do conhecimento dos profissionais da saúde beneficiará toda a comunidade, com relação à promoção e prevenção dos agravos a saúde. Com isso observamos a importância da capacitação dos ACS, bem como do desenvolvimento de qualquer ação de extensão, que deve, sempre que possível, ser avaliada com relação a sua efetividade.

Siempre he tenido un agrado especial hacia las artes cinematográficas y
recientemente he comenzado a descubrir un poco más el mundo del arte
teatral. Con eso he descubierto que varios de los grandes directores de la
historia del cine, comenzaron por ser directores de escena y fueron
destacados en ambos mundos. 
Éste es el caso de Ingmar Bergman, el cual en su natal Suecia se le recuerda
con agrado por sus trabajos teatrales, tanto que  The Royal Dramatic
Theatre (Dramaten) tiene un festival en su honor. Pero también es recordado
y admirado por su trabajo en el cine, al punto que The Swedish Film
Institute (Svenska Filminstitutet) apoyo para la creación de la Fundación
Ingmar Bergman para la preservación de los archivos fílmicos del director. 
El trabajo tiene por objetivo observar al director en sus dos facetas, director
de escena y director cinematográfico,  con una misma obra, de su autoría,
la cual trabajo en ambos ámbitos, y ver cuáles son las diferencias entre
ellas.

The term "Western medicine" is widely used in global health discourse but not thoroughly examined. Grammatically, it comprises the noun "medicine" and the adjective "western," which provides a geographical context. This framing suggests that "Western medicine" refers to forms of medicine created or practiced in the West — an interpretation that raises important questions about medical classification. In this sense, the term "Western medicine" may be considered an overgeneralization because it implies the absence of other kinds of medicine in the West besides biomedicine.
Indigenous peoples in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean had developed their own healing practices before European colonization, and many still use them today. Therefore, it can be argued that the traditional healing practices of Indigenous peoples in the Americas have been neglected in the geographical sense of the term "Western medicine."


El término «medicina occidental» se utiliza ampliamente en el discurso sobre salud mundial, pero no se ha examinado a fondo. Gramaticalmente, comprende el sustantivo «medicina» y el adjetivo «occidental», que proporciona un contexto geográfico. Este encuadre sugiere que la «medicina occidental» se refiere a las formas de medicina creadas o practicadas en Occidente, una interpretación que plantea importantes cuestiones sobre la clasificación médica. En este sentido, el término «medicina occidental» puede considerarse una sobregeneralización, ya que implica la ausencia de otros tipos de medicina en Occidente además de la biomedicina. Los pueblos indígenas de América del Norte, América Central, América del Sur y el Caribe habían desarrollado sus propias prácticas curativas antes de la colonización europea, y muchos de ellos siguen utilizándolas en la actualidad. Por lo tanto, se puede argumentar que las prácticas curativas tradicionales de los pueblos indígenas de América han sido descuidadas en el sentido geográfico del término «medicina occidental».

This article introduces Deep Listening, a novel transdisciplinary research agenda and framework for collaborative climate adaptation. It argues for the urgency to develop a communication approach in understanding how frontline communities interact with mediating institutions. Deep Listening is presented in five components: 1) knowledge sharing (mutually agreed upon protocols for data production and use); 2) holding space (co-creating spaces where institutional actors and communities can exchange, learn from each other and discuss); 3) the production and sharing of climate imaginaries (where local or Indigenous knowledge and community values are respected); 4) sensemaking with a diversity of perspectives and scientific data; and 5) evaluation and monitoring support to assure accountability and to assess quality of information. Based on a literature review of adaptation studies, the case is made that the Deep Listening approach can enhance the sense of procedural justice and mitigate maladaptive outcomes.

This chapter discusses the current structure of commodified health care as a structural sin that undermines the rights of the poor to affordable and quality health care according to Catholic social teaching. It also incorporates the sociological concept of social structure to clarify the empirical nature of the Catholic Church's doctrines on structural sin and spiritualty social transformation for the laity as applied to health care. It argues that the practice of lay Catholic social spirituality for health workers necessitates transformative action for the conversion of structural sin in the commodified healthcare industry to uphold health care as a basic human right as well as protect rights of the poor in society.

El artículo analiza las formas de narrar la acción de la Guardia Indígena en
el relato oral del pueblo nasa del Norte del Cauca (Colombia). A partir del
planteamiento de la noción de “narración mitopolítica” para definir la con
fluencia entre pensamiento mitopoiético, relato oral y acción política, se
analizan fragmentos de nueve relatos orales de miembros de la comunidad nasa recogidos en cuatro resguardos indígenas del Cauca en 2022. El estudio anhela demostrar que las modalidades de producción simbólica de memorias colectivas acerca de la Guardia Indígena posicionan a la organización de la Guardia dentro de la red narrativa de los relatos de origen nasa.

A partire da una ridefinizione della nozione di ‘letteratura orale’, il saggio
compara due narrazioni del racconto di Jinu Potó realizzate da due membri della comunità embera in Colombia. L’analisi intreccia uno studio dei motivi del racconto con un’analisi di ciò che accade tra la narrazione. Secondo la tesi proposta, ciò che accade durante la narrazione integra la dimensione testuale della letteratura orale embera, condensando del processo di riconfigurazione epistemica in atto in un contesto di sfollamento forzato.

Part 1-Introduction & Framing the Debate Over the past few decades, Competency-Based Education (CBE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) have increasingly shaped the architecture of global education systems. Both models emphasize practical skills, performance-based assessments, and workforce alignment, a clear departure from traditional models of education rooted in liberal arts traditions. As the discourse around education reform grows louder, especially under the influence of labor market demands, funding bodies, and policy frameworks, CBE and VET have been positioned as modern, efficient, and equitable solutions to the challenges of employability and economic relevance. Competency-Based Education is an approach where students progress upon demonstrating mastery of specific skills or competencies, rather than through time-bound coursework (Gervais, 2016). Learning is often modular, personalized, and aligned with industry standards, and its structure lends itself to flexible delivery methods, including online and hybrid formats. Vocational Education and Training (VET), similarly, refers to organized educational programs focused on equipping learners with practical skills and applied knowledge directly related to specific occupations. VET has historically served as a bridge between education and labor, offering alternative pathways to traditional academic tracks and aiming for high rates of job placement and economic participation (Wheelahan & Moodie, 2011).

The prevailing paradigms in artificial intelligence (AI) development often overlook the intricate interplay between quantum phenomena and Indigenous epistemologies, leading to systems that inadequately address the complexities of human experience and moral decision-making. This paper introduces the Entangled Causality Protocol (ECP) and the Esu Fate AI (Èṣù Fate AI) system, a neuro-spiritual framework that synthesizes principles from quantum entanglement, Yoruba cosmology, and recursive feedback ethics. Drawing inspiration from the Yoruba orisha Esu (Èṣù), known for embodying paradox and moral regulation, the system employs symbolic logic and Odù Ifá binary structures to simulate decision-making processes that reflect both individual agency and collective fate. The Entangled Causality Protocol (ECP) integrates quantum concepts of non-locality and superposition with Indigenous understandings of fate and moral alignment to propose a novel approach to AI design—one that foregrounds relationality, reflexivity, and ethical co-evolution. This paper elaborates the theoretical foundations of the ECP, its methodological implementation, and the implications of such an integrative model for reimagining AI systems attuned to pluralistic epistemologies and spiritually grounded cognition.

The themes of this hefty tome, consisting of twenty-three essays, preceded by prefaces and introductions, are closely connected with the May 1998 conference on Islam and ecology, which was held in the framework of a series of gatherings on the stance of the world’s religious traditions towards today’s environmental crisis, hosted by the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University between 1996 and 1998. The editors of this volume must be credited with giving the contributors opportunity to present the most up-to-date essays, which must have been quite a strain on the editing process of an ambitious project like this.

Many teacher educators today will find little difficulty in"completing this cloze -but Bob Dylan 's understanding of the outsider may not be one that we share in terms of our own experience as teacher educators. Our concern in this papf!:T is to suggest that such an understanding may also be one that we do not often concern ourselves with on behalf of thase of our own students wha study in remote and isolated settings and from a position outside of the discourse communities of school and university education. How does it feel, at thirty-three, to be the only person in your home who has ever tried to study at university -let alone by Distance Education? How does it feel to studiously ignore the gibes of your children or your friends about people learning to be teachers in schools, not out of books? How does it feel to know that although you can read the words of the instructions and articles sent to you in the thick and efficiently-presented study guides, reading blocks and textbooks prepared by your 'lecturers' to guide you through the subject, you don't actually understand them, no matter how many times you read them through, line by line, from beginning to end? How does it feel to pick up the phone to call the tutor whose name appears on the first page of the study guide, after telling yourself that you can at least try to see if she can explain it -to find a recorded message on the other end of the line, asking you to leave a'message or send an email? How does that immediate feeling of guilty relief position you as a failure, and make it even harder to call again tomorrow? How does it feel not to send in your assignment, worked over laboriously for hours while the kids were at footy, or asleep, because when you did finally get through to your tutor she reminded you of the importance of 'correct referencing' if the assignment is to pass? How does it feel not to know what correct referencing is? How does it feel ... to be on your own?

This chapter examines the potential of indigenous media as a tool for incorporating Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) into contemporary education. By embedding traditional practices, oral histories, and cultural narratives into modern curricula, we can create learning environments that are inclusive, contextually relevant, and culturally sustaining. The discussion highlights successful examples of integrating indigenous media in classrooms, addressing barriers such as digital inequality and cultural misrepresentation. The chapter emphasises the role of collaboration with indigenous communities to co-create educational materials that honour and preserve their heritage while fostering cross-cultural understanding. It concludes with strategies for policymakers, educators, and curriculum designers to adopt culturally responsive approaches, advancing equity and innovation in education.

In preparation for the 13th Policy Dialogue Forum and governance meetings to be held on 1-3 December 2021, this note explores the potential of innovation as realised during the COVID-19 pandemic in three key education areas: • innovation in teaching and learning (face-to-face or virtual classrooms) led by teachers and by systems; • initial and in-service teacher education: innovations in curriculum and delivery to respond to gaps identified during the pandemic and emerging forms of teacher learning and professional development; • education policy: innovation in policy making; policies that facilitate innovation across education settings; innovative policies; and policies to advocate for innovation. The note concludes with recommendations for enhancing innovative capacity and steering and managing innovations in education systems

On Euro-American and military maps, archipelagoes are depicted as distant, tiny, empty, or merely (is)lands for US geostrategic control. I argue for a remapping of the Marianas as expansive, oceanic sites of resistance to colonial cartographic violence and US militarization. Fieldwork in the Marianas demonstrates how Indigenous epistemologies function as archipelagic rhetoric enacted through a Chamoru sense of place. I examine these fluid relational connections to place and their implications for decolonization.

This research examines how and why Facebook members engage with digitised old photographs. By adopting a qualitative approach to the research and a case-study-based methodology, the research shows how individuals use old photographs on Facebook and  in other photographic sources, including institutional repositories, and emphasises the role of memory in these interactions. The main factors analysed include: the subject matter of the photographs, the motivations behind users’ engagement with digitised old images, and the characteristics of various photographic repositories as perceived by the research participants. The findings show that a sense of belonging determines user preference both for specific photographs and for choice of photographic repository.Individuals seem to prefer certain repositories mainly because those repositories give them a sense of belonging, especially through a personal connection to particular
photographs. This connection is created by personal memories or post-memories combined with the possibility of participation offered by the repository, which enriches the process of co-remembrance. The research results are analysed through the lens of communicative memory (Assmann 1995) and reflective nostalgia (Boym 2001). The research suggests that in order to understand the use of digital institutional photographic repositories and the reasons why individuals use or do not use them, the research population needs to be broadened beyond the users of institutional repositories.

Recent research on colonial Florida has brought to light the amazing story of the contribution of Timucua Indian writers to the literary history of what is now the Southeastern United States. Some Timucua, like numerous other Indigenous peoples of North America, embraced the study of the classical tradition of “letters” and thus fostered the communication of their cultural, political, and religious perspectives within and beyond their communities. On the weekend of April 11-13 at Flagler College, scholars will explore this story reflected in select examples of Mexican and Floridian Indigenous writers, the Franciscan commitment to humanistic education, and the literature that emerged from this oft-neglected period of North American history. Those in attendance will also engage in the challenge of how to resource and disseminate this little-known story for those committed to classical education in contemporary society.

En la primera parte del trabajo se presentan unas categorías exegéticas útiles para pensar una teoría amazónica del texto, con un énfasis en la noción uitoto de rafue o 'palabra-obra'. En la segunda sección, a partir de la teoría amazónica de las plantas (Duchesne, 2019), se analizan los motivos poéticos del canasto y del yagé con un enfoque en los rasgos de la dimensión relacional y performativa de la enunciación textual. El último apartado del ensayo propone un análisis de las formas de tematización del conflicto armado colombiano en la poesía amazónica, en diálogo con las reflexiones sobre la dualidad lugar-memoria y territorio-historia en la cosmovivencia kamëntsá (Mavisoy Muchavisoy, 2024).

La astrotanatología, como disciplina que integra la terapia,  la astrología y la tanatología en una exploración de los procesos de muerte, transformación y regeneración, encuentra en la cosmovisión maya un campo fértil para la resignificación de narrativas ancestrales. Particularmente, los Aluxes, figuras mitológicas de los pueblos mayas de la península de Yucatán, representan un vínculo entre lo humano y lo espiritual, entre la vida y la muerte, funcionando como guardianes de la selva y mediadores entre planos de existencia.

Hace veinticuatro años, comenzamos a reunirnos algunos pobladores del barrio de La Cuesta de Mezcala, Jalisco. Del centro iba Mane que, en ese entonces, era estudiante de la preparatoria, y con el tiempo comenzaron a llegar más gentes de otros barrios, pero en principio fuimos un grupo mayoritariamente de La Cuesta. Ahí nos veíamos cada sábado en el corral de mi casa para hacer la plática. La primera en llegar era Mari (María Machetes), quien siempre llegaba con una carga de leña para prender el fogón. La que la esperaba era mi mamá Rosita Moreno. Ellas eran primas y fueron también las mayores que nos convocaban. Ambas procuraban la comida y bebidas para los que íbamos llegando. Todos los sábados había frijoles, tortillas, pescado frito, huevo asado en el comal, chile de molcajete, café o té de hojas de limón, y lo demás que fuéramos arrimando. También estaba Leonor y Adelo y sus cuatro hijos. Adelo, quien nos hablaba y preguntaba sobre el zapatismo, llevaba a sus amigos Mario de los Santos y Jorge Pérez, que es más conocido como "El Diablo". Poco después se incorporó Silvestre Claro y su esposa Lourdes y sus cuatro hijos también, y con eso se animó Paula Pérez, los comuneros Simón de los Santos y Santiago Claro, y niños del barrio que al ver bulla de todos los que nos reuníamos, se acercaban también. Ese grupo nos llamamos Colectivo Mezcala, y por cuatro años nos reunimos de manera interrumpida cada sábado. En 2004, viajamos algunos del colectivo a territorio zapatista, para literalmente encontrarNOS. En esos primeros cuatro años, no porque ahí comience nuestra historia, sino porque fue muy importante ese espacio que tuvimos 1. This article discusses the discipline of communication as a vidya (true knowledge) according to Hinduism. The present article is a revisit to an older article (Adhikary, 2010). It presents Hindu perspective on communication concerning the Sadharanikaran Model of Communication, employing the message-or artifact-oriented research approach. This article observes moksha as the highest of purushartha chatustayas (four goals of human life) based on Hindu belief and presents an appraisal on verbal communication as a means for attaining moksha-in-life. In addition, the article recognizes different kinds of yoga, such as jnanayoga, karmayoga, and bhaktiyoga in Hinduism and examines whether the process of communication qualifies to be regarded as the sancharyoga. Then, it concludes yoga is a communication model, and the discipline of communication is a vidya itself, being relied on perspectives of Hinduism

Research involving humans as subjects have been in existence throughout the years. Such research conducted with human beings as subjects has brought about advancements in the knowledge of medicine (treatment of deadly diseases and all manner of psychological ailment as well as an overall understanding of the human anatomy). However, due to the nature of some horrifying experimentation such as those conducted by German Nazi, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, and the Guatemala Syphilis experiments, ethicists are of the view that these experiments abuse the utilitarian motive of satisfying the greatest good. All these opinions have shaped people’s views on the ethics of research resulting in ethical guidelines such as the Declaration of Helsinki and the Nuremberg Code to serve as a guide when researches are conducted on human beings. This paper is purposed to highlight the views of both the Christian and Islamic religions on the subject of human experimentation so as to enable individuals to understand the bioethical views shared on this biological technology. We will demonstrate a tool which supports users in the navigation and searching of remote video archives. The tool features a tight coupling between navigation ~f the video and of the textual and image-based aids used to search and navigate through it.

The conception of digital sovereignty has been associated, especially in the early stages of the diffusion of the Internet, with efforts to keep specific data and information outside of a state’s jurisdiction. AI sovereignty responds to an almost opposite logic, indicating the ability of a state to access and make use of data that are produced within its jurisdiction. These two strategies – which I refer to as lock-out and lock-in sovereignty – share some common roots (e.g. the attempt to protect and enhance specific cultural attributes recognised as important by a national community), but they also point to different technical, economic, and political characteristics needed to enforce one or the other type of sovereignty. The article examines key elements that set these concepts, and their implementation, apart and how they intersect with both existing and potential articulations of national sovereignty in Africa. In particular it opposes a negative – and still pervasive – definition of sovereignty applied to African states, based on the Westphalian ideal and “measuring the gap between what Africa is and what we are told it ought to be” (Mbembe 2019, p. 26); and the possibilities disclosed by re-appropriating practices of “networked sovereignty” (Mbembe, 2016).

The exhibition’s primary objective was to convey the research processes and findings of a project that explored human-nature connections, with a particular emphasis on the auditory, sonic, and musical dimensions of people’s interactions with their physical environment. The paper underscores the potential for expanding similar initiatives beyond academic boundaries and highlights the importance of integrating sound installations and objects within museum spaces while also fostering critical reflections.

Development projects may be realized if the participation from the communities is upheld. Guided by the principles of Participatory Communication Theory (Bessette, 2006), this study was conducted to review and understand the decision-making process of the Kabayan Indigenous Peoples (IP) community on the proposed 20 Megawatts Kabayan 1 Hydroelectric Power Project (HEPP) of Hydroelectric Development Corporation (Hedcor) Benguet Inc.. The proposed project was terminated after the elders/leaders of Kabayan voted against the implementation of the project in a consensus building held on November 18, 2016. The Hedcor Benguet Inc. has filed for a Motion for Reconsideration but has consequently withdrawn this to explore other alternatives that maybe favorable to the community. Further, the results showed that most of the community members through their elders/leaders participated and joined in the activities in relation to the hydroelectric project initiated by the NCIP and the community the...

O objectivo do artigo é compreender o contributo da perspectiva de análise da extensão de Paulo Freire e Boaventura de Sousa Santos, dois autores que convergem na forma como deve ser a actividade educativa e profissional da Extensão, embora Freire não empregue o termo Extensão, mas postula-a numa relação gnosiológica, prevalecendo a comunicação ou o método dialógico entre o educando e o educador. Deste autor, concebe-se que o mais importante não é o professor transmitir o que sabe, mas também aprender com aqueles indivíduos (que estão fora da Universidade e são) movidos por experiências antropologicamente culturais, daí que evidencia a experiência dos camponeses com relação a produção agrária versus os agrónomos dotados de saberes científico-tecnológicos. Em Boaventura de Sousa Santos, após um enquadramento sincrético sobre os quatro aspectos para a estruturação do debate sobre o Ensino Superior em África, percebemos que a sua perspectiva de extensão universitária é um contributo para legitimação de muitas Universidades em Angola. Pois as fontes metodologicamente empregadas e acreditadas na pesquisa remetem que, em Angola, a extensão universitária existe desde o século XX, mas ainda há um grande problema de concepção e institucionalização a partir da Constituição e diplomas legais sobre os três pilares da Universidade, Ensino, Investigação e Extensão.

The article analyzes how indigenous and Afro-descendant communities achieved participation in the National Constitutional Assembly in 1991 in Colombia and how this process influenced the definition of new territorial institutions in which territorial autonomy and self-rule were successfully granted – against all odds. How did this happen? What circumstances facilitated the agency of these marginalized groups to such an extent that it shaped the new constitution to their benefit? The argument in this article highlights a historical juncture between a global discourse in favor of human rights, and ethnic and cultural diversity – supported by the United Nations – and a regional trend towards democratization and constitutional change. A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa e descritiva, foi realizada na EEM Francisco de Araújo Barros, localizada em Itarema, Ceará, e envolveu a participação de três professores da área de ciências naturais. Através de entrevistas semiestruturadas e observações diretas, o estudo investigou como a formação continuada, aliada ao uso de metodologias como a Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas (PBL) e recursos tecnológicos, contribuiu para a melhoria da prática pedagógica e o engajamento dos alunos. Os resultados indicaram que a implementação das metodologias ativas e o uso de tecnologias digitais teve um impacto positivo no aprendizado dos alunos, especialmente no que diz respeito ao aumento da participação e autonomia dos estudantes. No entanto, a pesquisa também revelou desafios significativos relacionados à infraestrutura escolar, como a falta de dispositivos adequados e a instabilidade da internet, que prejudicaram a aplicação plena das novas abordagens. Conclui-se que a formação continuada deve ser alinhada às especificidades do contexto rural e acompanhada de investimentos em infraestrutura, para garantir que as metodologias ativas e as tecnologias digitais sejam implementadas de forma eficaz e sustentada.

The Internet is a battleground of control by national governments, among other actors. That contested control takes the form not only of Internet filtering but also of activities that directly impact cyber security, including surveillance and malware hosting. To better understand that battleground, it is important to understand how each nation structures the Internet within its borders. One helpful way to understand the structure of national Internets is by mapping autonomous system relationships within each country. Those autonomous systems are the ISPs and other large organizations that are responsible for routing traffic both within the larger Internet and within their own networks and as such act as points of technical and political control of the Internet. This paper describes a method for mapping national networks of autonomous systems, for identifying a small set of autonomous systems that act as points of control for each national network, and for measuring the complexity of the networks of autonomous systems within each country. Using these methods, we make several specific findings about the structure of national autonomous system networks. Our primary finding is that across all countries, only a few autonomous systems act as points of control. But there are significant differences between autonomous system networks among both countries and regions. China and other Eastern Asian countries are very centralized and very simple-with tens of millions of users per point of control and with Internet users concentrated in only a few of the biggest autonomous systems. Russia and other Easter European countries are much less centralized and much more complexwith only hundreds of thousands of Internet users per point of control and with Internet users scattered through many autonomous systems connected to each other through a much more complex web of relationships. These findings speak both to how the countries exert control over their networks and to how national philosophies of political control have shaped the technical details of their local portions of the Internet. We propose this map as a fertile field for future work that combines computer and social science to understand how countries attempt to exert control over their portions of the Internet. 1

The Paper tries to unfold the paradox that exists in the tribal community with respect to its redevelopment. The study discusses the possible measures that can be taken to resolves the current issues in the tribal redevelopment programs. Tribes are the indigenous inhabitants of our country who have been living in a life based on the natural environment and have cultural patterns suited to their physical and social environment. They are the poorest; most marginalized, oppressed, and impecunious people in the country. Tribal development is one of the most important subjects which drew serve and widespread concern in the country. But it has not yet given the importance what it needs. The research deals with the quality of the life of ‘Muthuvan’ community (tribal community in Kerala and Tamil Nadu mainly lives in the Western Ghats) in former and later periods of rehabilitation and redevelopment.

A pesar de la relevancia expuesta, en los últimos años, el estudio de las radios comunitarias ha pasado a un segundo plano por la fascinación y masificación que representa la novedad tecnológica, los dispositivos móviles y el espacio digital. Este sesgo de fascinación tecnológica y sublimidad digital, propias de las tendencias tecnodeterministas, han supuesto que las radios comunitarias pierden vigencia ante los procesos emergentes y globales que se desarrollan con y alrededor de Internet, augurando implícitamente su desaparición. Contrario a esta visión, este trabajo pretende analizar las radios comunitarias en el siglo XXI, reconociendo su carácter histórico y organizacional, pero identificando cómo este tipo de proyectos se están articulando con otros procesos sociales dentro de los territorios donde tienen cobertura, para adquirir nuevas funciones sociales, culturales y políticas como resultado de su transversalidad organizativa, comunicativa e informacional. De esta manera, estos proyectos comunicativos contrahegemónicos se enfrentan a nuevos retos en el siglo XXI, lo cual les permite ampliar sustancialmente sus finalidades y legitimar su relevancia en los contextos sociales donde están presentes. Para poder observar estas nuevas articulaciones, se desarrolla un análisis de dos radios comunitarias, Radio Teocelo, en el estado de Veracruz y Radio Tosepan Limakxtum, en el estado de Puebla, con el fin de evidenciar cuáles han sido los cambios tanto en el contexto como en los motivos que detonan su creación y administración al coro y largo plazo. Para cumplir con este objetivo, se construye un marco teórico-conceptual alrededor de las radios comunitarias, para después establecer la parte metodológica con el fin de justificar la selección de casos y los elementos a estudiar. Posteriormente, se describen las dos radios con la finalidad de identificar los cambios que se desarrollan alrededor de ellas en la actualidad y, de qué manera el estudio de las radios, lejos de perder sentido, adquiere nuevas direcciones.

In 2023 I collaborated with Aboriginal educators Leon Hayward and Dennis Taylor to develop and teach a theological course for the First Nations Ministry Training program in Perth, Australia. We researched various active and imaginative teaching and learning approaches to discover the most effective methods for engaging our students.

This article introduces Deep Listening, a novel transdisciplinary research agenda and framework for collaborative climate adaptation. It argues for the urgency to develop a communication approach in understanding how frontline communities interact with mediating institutions. Deep Listening is presented in five components: 1) knowledge sharing (mutually agreed upon protocols for data production and use); 2) holding space (co-creating spaces where institutional actors and communities can exchange, learn from each other and discuss); 3) the production and sharing of climate imaginaries (where local or Indigenous knowledge and community values are respected); 4) sensemaking with a diversity of perspectives and scientific data; and 5) evaluation and monitoring support to assure accountability and to assess quality of information. Based on a literature review of adaptation studies, the case is made that the Deep Listening approach can enhance the sense of procedural justice and mitigate maladaptive outcomes.

Film making provides a tool for Indigenous peoples of West Papua to tell a story, consolidate community collective memory (solidarity), support human rights advocacy and assist trauma healing. Moreover, films raise critical awareness among Indigenous Papuans in relation to the outside world. Film making allows Indigenous voices to be seen and heard by others beyond West Papua. So, film is an important media tool with the potential to enable vulnerable Indigenous communities to produce knowledge, and tell stories about life and culture from their own perspectives. It also supports Indigenous West Papuan communities to document human rights abuses and to advocate for their human rights in the international arena. Film making therefore provides an important medium to expose the oppressive realities of Indigenous peoples’ lives in in West Papua, so often distorted by the propaganda of the occupying Indonesian military. This essay proposes a methodological approach based on a Foucaultian discourse analysis and also on Nakata's cultural interface, to study higher education institutions and their relationship with their indigenous students. The paper is divided into the following sections: the archeology of knowledge and statements; subjects and objects of knowledge; knowledge, power and subjectivity; truth and 'claims to know' indigenous subject; cultural interface; Australian indigenous higher education; and lessons for Chile. From the description of the concept of positive discrimination, treated here as discourse, the Australian case is analyzed and possible lessons are proposed for the context of indigenous students in Chilean higher education.
