In this paper we discuss the generation of 9 th grade-students' meanings of the concept of variable as a generalised number and their competence in using mathematical properties while tinkering with animated models of letters of the Greek Alphabet with the programming tool MaLT2. Using a combination of the 'Teaching for Robust Understanding' Framework and the '5Es' Framework in designing innovative activities, the study explores students' mathematical experience by focusing on how students use the concept of the variable in the mathematical properties embedded in the dynamic models of letters, and provides some insights into their misconceptions about the role of the variable as a generalised number.

The article undertakes an analysis of cybersecurity as a strategic pillar
of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP), showing its fundamental
importance for digital sovereignty, systemic stability and resilience of the state
in the conditions of accelerated digital transformation. It was pointed out that
in the era of increasing interconnectivity of global digital systems and the escalation
of multidimensional cyber threats, digital security is no longer just a technical
domain of IT infrastructure management, becoming a key component of long-term
national security policy. It was emphasized that effective cybersecurity requires
the implementation of an integrated, multi-level strategy, combining advanced
technologies – including artificial intelligence, blockchain, edge computing
and "zero trust" architecture – with systemic legal, organizational and educational
solutions, aimed at building a coherent architecture of digital resilience. The article
proves that the activities undertaken under the NRP, such as the development
of sectoral computer security incident response teams (CSIRTs), the construction
of The National Data Processing Centre (KCPD) and the implementation of modern
systems for the analysis and protection of information resources are an example
of a model, systemic approach to strengthening national resilience to cyber threats,
in accordance with European and international security standards.

Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah membawa transformasi besar dalam
masyarakat, namun juga menimbulkan tantangan etika yang kompleks. Artikel ini
membahas tiga pilar utama etika profesi IT yang relevan dalam konteks
pengembangan teknologi saat ini, yaitu: transparansi algoritma, privasi data,
dan tangggung jawab sosial.
Dengan mengacu pada buku Filsafat Informatika karya Feri Sulianta (2024)
dan literatur pendukung, artikel ini menyoroti pentingnya pendekatan filosofis dan
etis dalam praktik profesional di bidang IT. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa
integrasi prinsip etika dalam pengembangan teknologi tidak hanya diperlukan untuk
meminimalkan risiko, tetapi juga untuk memastikan bahwa teknologi berfungsi
sebagai alat yang memberdayakan manusia.

This article examines data structures in computer science and divides them into two categories: linear and nonlinear. Linear structures such as arrays, linked lists, stacks, and queues organize data in a sequential manner, and each is optimal for specific applications. In contrast, nonlinear structures such as trees, graphs, and hash tables create more complex relationships between data and are used to solve more advanced problems. Finally, the article emphasizes the importance of choosing the right data structure, as this choice has a direct impact on the time and space efficiency of a software system.

In this context, the 5th International Loneliness Symposium, organized under the leadership of Üsküdar University on December 16, 2023, was held with the central theme of “Loneliness at Work.” This book presents a selection of papers delivered at the symposium, compiled into academic articles and essays. It includes interdisciplinary studies that explore the concept of loneliness across various professions, cultural contexts, and social processes. In contemporary societies, the phenomenon of loneliness—frequently experienced by individuals within family life and social environments—has increasingly become a common issue in professional settings as well. Especially in the workplace, as competitiveness, individualism, and narcissistic tendencies contribute to the construction of a new self-structure, the sense of loneliness deepens and exerts a stronger influence on individuals. In addition, the rapid developments in communication networks accelerated by globalization, along with the demanding conditions of modern urban life, have intensified the feeling of workplace loneliness. This raises several important questions: How does this condition affect employees in the workplace? Which professional groups are more prone to experiencing loneliness? And to what extent do employees in different countries report feelings of loneliness

The use of video feedback in face-to-face, blended, and online learning classes has increased markedly since 2014. However, the use of this form of feedback is not well understood. In this study, we conducted a systematic literature review of how higher education instructors perceive video-based feedback. We analyzed 39 peer-reviewed articles from 2009 to 2019 and identified four themes related to creating videos, the quality of feedback, connecting with students, and sustaining the practice of offering video-based feedback. Overall, most instructors claimed that creating video feedback was relatively easy and time-efficient to create. However, some instructors faced specific challenges related to recording, unwieldy software tools, and feeling anxious when creating videos. In the face of global challenges and the increasing need for education supporting sustainable development, innovative teaching methods combined with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools have significant potential to transform traditional and blended learning environments. This article explores the integration of games and simulations as educational tools in both conventional and hybrid classrooms to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and sustainability literacy. Drawing on the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), the study demonstrates how digital and analogue game-based learning (GBL), simulations, and immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) contribute to better understanding of complex systems and encourage behavioural change aligned with sustainability objectives. The paper synthesises findings from empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and case-based analyses to examine how such technologies can be effectively integrated across educational levels. Blended learning models, in particular, enable educators to combine interactive digital resources with face-to-face pedagogical interactions, creating dynamic, student-centred learning environments. In traditional settings, low-tech simulations and serious board games still offer meaningful ways to convey sustainability concepts and foster collaboration. The effectiveness of these approaches is analysed in relation to cognitive and affective outcomes, including improved problem-solving skills, increased environmental awareness, and motivation to act sustainably. This review emphasises both the pedagogical benefits and challenges of implementing ICT and games across diverse educational settings. While increased engagement and experiential learning are often viewed as positive outcomes, barriers such as limited technological access, teachers' preparedness, and curriculum integration persist. The article provides practical advice for educators and institutions seeking to adopt these tools in a contextually aware and pedagogically effective manner. Ultimately, the study argues that thoughtfully integrating innovative teaching approaches with ICT-enabled games and simulations can enhance the quality and relevance of education for sustainable development, enabling learners to tackle global challenges with creativity, empathy, and systemic thinking.

                        Internationalization of Ontario colleges is a strategic mandate from both the federal and provincial governments to address declining domestic enrollment, labour market shortages, and the evolving needs of 21st century post-secondary students. The growth in numbers of international students in Ontario colleges has been particularly rapid over the past five years, and existing literature on internationalization and Ontario colleges was limited. The use of courseware for information skills teaching in academic libraries has been growing for a number of years. In order to create effective courseware packages to support joint electronic library activity at Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities, the GAELS project conducted a literature review of the subject. This review discovered a range of factors common to successful library courseware implementations, such as the need for practitioners to feel a sense of ownership of the medium, a need for courseware customization to local information environments, and an emphasis on training packages for large bodies of undergraduates. However, we also noted underdeveloped aspects worthy of further attention, such as treatment of pedagogic issues in library CAL imp lementations and use of hypertextual learning materials for more advanced information skills training. We describe how these findings shaped the packages produced by the project and suggest ways forward for similar types of implementation.

This study addresses the necessity of comprehending the remote learning environment for improving online course design and delivery. The primary objective is to investigate the impact of teaching, cognitive, and social presence, along with learner motivation from the Community of Inquiry framework, on students' learning satisfaction in both asynchronous and synchronous learning contexts. Conducted as an international project, data collection involved three distinct courses across U.S. and Korean universities for one semester, with participants from asynchronous (n = 74) and synchronous (n = 63) remote language classes. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study explored variables of interest and learning satisfaction. Path analysis results indicated consistent patterns in both modes, with students' learning satisfaction significantly predicted by presences and motivation. While the majority of pathways in synchronous and asynchronous remote learning modes exhibited similarities, distinctions were noted between the two modes. In the synchronous mode, social presence emerged as the strongest predictor for cognitive presence and students' learning satisfaction, suggesting the importance of open communication and collaboration in the synchronous mode. In contrast, motivation emerged as the strongest predictor in the asynchronous mode, highlighting the need for selfregulation and autonomy. Qualitative data complemented quantitative findings, reinforcing the importance of tailoring learning activity designs for different contexts. The results of the study contribute to the ongoing debate on improving learning and teaching in different online learning settings, especially in synchronous and asynchronous remote learning.

Rozdział koncentruje się wokół tematyki zarządzania informacjami i przedstawia wyniki eksploracji nowego, opartego na uczeniu maszynowym, podejścia do poprawy jakości danych w systemach informacyjnych organizacji. W rozdziale opisano nowy sposób, w jaki algorytmy uczenia maszynowego mogą poprawić zarządzanie informacjami w organizacjach poprzez zastosowa nie ich do zautomatyzowanej weryfikacji adresów. Autorzy omawiają wyniki zastosowania dziesięciu algorytmów uczenia maszynowego osiągających do kładność klasyfikacji równą 71% i wyniki metryki F1 na poziomie 76% (Maszyna wektorów nośnych, 10-krotna walidacja krzyżowa), przy użyciu różnych metod generowania i redukcji cech modelu, na milionowym zbiorze danych adresowych z bazy danych kodów pocztowych w Wielkiej Brytanii (Postcode Address File, PAF). Prezentowane rozwiązanie może być wykorzystywane w projektach migracji lub integracji danych albo w celu poprawy jakości danych adresowych w informatycznych systemach wspomagających zarządzanie, takich jak CRM, ERP czy HRM.

The main objective of the study was to examine school climate variables as determinants of students’ academic performance in Lagos state. Structured questionnaire was used as the major instrument. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the size sample size of one sixteen (16) secondary schools comprising 400 students in education district V. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation(PPMC) and Regression were used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 probability level. Findings revealed that there is weak correlation between Intra-School Social Relations and Students' Academic Performance. The study also found that there is no correlation between safety and secured school environments and student's academic performance. Meanwhile, the study also found that fair and effective disciplinary climate has significant effect on students’ academic performance while strong emphasis on academic standard was found to have significant effect on students' performance. Teachers and administrative staff of schools should create a friendly school environment that isn't antagonizing to anyone. The environment should promote mutual aligning and interrelationship between stakeholders in schools. Schools should be fenced and gated to barricade it from external forces. Meanwhile, schools should clearly state out a body of laws through which stakeholders and students will be governed and punishment for breaching the laws. Standards for schools’ climate assessment procedures and guidelines for selecting a school climate measure should be put in place. Lastly, Policy makers must become aware of school climate research and the importance of positive school climate and encourage teacher preparation programs that give teachers and administrators the tools to evaluate classroom and school climate and take steps to use these findings to promote a climate for learning in schools.

The short task methodology enhances the Bebras constructive environment, and provides an emotional context that triggers the convolution of initially biased mental models and corresponding emotional reactions into an unbiased set of conceptual models for informatics education. This provides the motivation of our research–to explore the process of pedagogical design of short informatics concept-based tasks from the standpoint of mindset formation, which allows one to build conceptual models for CT education. Computer Science (CS) education in high schools is entering the fifth decade of its existence. Israel is one of the first countries which started to offer CS courses in high schools in the middle of the 1970s. Many European countries joined this process a decade later -Lithuania is among them. Both countries put a lot of effort in developing CS curricula and establishing assessment examinations. Nowadays there has been considerable activities surrounding CS education on all levels therefore we suggest to take a look at the experience of these two countries. In this paper we describe the CS curriculum for high schools in both countries, including a description of the final exams, some statistics regarding students' participation and achievements as well as exam evaluation. We then display the results of a survey, conducted among high-school teachers in both countries regarding teachers' attitudes towards the CS curriculum. We sum up with a discussion comparing curricula and teachers' attitudes in both countries and conclude with some insights from the survey.

The article concerns the interpretation of the role and impact of connectivity in the dimension of international relations. The opportunities and threats posed by connectivity in international relations were analysed through the prism of providing humanitarian aid, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and cyber threats. The views on connectivity represented by experts (Mark Leonard, Parag Khanna, Anne-Marie Slaughter) influencing international discourse were critically analysed. It also takes into account the definition of the impact of connectivity by international organizations, i.e. the European Union and the United Nations.

In this qualitative case study, we examined in-service elementary school teachers' learning of coding and robotics in a blended professional learning course developed and delivered through the collaboration between university faculty and a school district. We focused on activity theory to understand and reveal the mediations, conflicts, and effective practices that facilitated or hindered teachers' learning of coding and robotics. The participants of the study were twelve teachers from five different elementary schools in a rural school district. Data collection and generation sources included interviews, videos of class meetings, course assignments, and artifacts. In analyzing the data, we employed analytical approaches under the guidance of activity theory. The findings showed that teacher collaboration, coding/robotics platforms employed during the professional learning course, instructional approaches, and resources in and outside the professional learning setting mediated or conflicted with the teachers' learning of coding and robotics depending on the way that each of these elements was employed in the course. Elaborating on these elements, we reported the implications for further research and practice.

Edukacja oparta na kompetencjach (Competency-Based Education, CBE) zyskuje coraz większe znaczenie w kontekście
globalnych przemian edukacyjnych, przesuwając akcent z tradycyjnego modelu nauczania na podejście bardziej zindywidualizowane i zorientowane na wyniki. W odpowiedzi na współczesne wyzwania społeczne, gospodarcze i technologiczne wiele systemów edukacyjnych dąży do dostosowania się do wymagań nowoczesnego rynku pracy  oraz społeczeństwa o wysokim poziomie wiedzy, które oczekuje od jednostek zdolności adaptacyjnych, elastyczności, samodzielności oraz umiejętności krytycznego myślenia i współpracy (OECD, 2018; UNESCO, 2020).

Edukacja oparta na kompetencjach (Competency-BasedEducation, CBE) zyskuje coraz większe znaczenie w kontekście globalnych przemian edukacyjnych, przesuwając akcent z tradycyjnego modelu nauczania na podejście bardziej zindywidualizowane i zorientowane na wyniki. W odpowiedzi na współczesne wyzwania społeczne, gospodarczej technologiczne wiele systemów edukacyjnych dąży do dostosowania się do wymagań nowoczesnego rynku pracy oraz społeczeństwa o wysokim poziomie wiedzy, którego oczekuje od jednostek zdolności adaptacyjnych, elastyczności, samodzielności oraz umiejętności krytycznego myślenia i współpracy (OECD, 2018; UNESCO, 2020).

Pomimo dostępu do rozwiązań technologicznych cyfryzacja mikro-, małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MMŚP) w Polsce jest ciągle na niskim poziomie. Celem badawczym jest analiza czynników wpływających na niski poziom cyfryzacji w polskich MMŚP. W pracy dokonano analizy stopnia cyfryzacji MMŚP na tle unijnej średniej, wykorzystując indeks gospodarki cyfrowej i społeczeństwa cyfrowego. Do analizy wykorzystano badania własne, przeprowadzone w 2017 r. w województwie pomorskim. W badaniu zastosowano metodę analizy i sondażu diagnostycznego oraz metody statystyczne. W większości analizowanych wskaźników polskie MMŚP znalazły się poniżej średniej UE. Czynniki warunkujące ten stan wydają się proste do identyfikacji, choć niełatwe do przezwyciężenia. The purpose of this paper was to propose and explore the methodical and multimedia environment required for the acquisition of ICT competences in the field of Logo programming of future compulsory education teachers. According to the student teachers' education curriculum, among other ICT competence requirements, the future teachers are to acquire relevant knowledge and skills in Logo programming. In order to determine the level of competence acquired, a methodical-qualitative evaluation of the environment, in the form of a web application, has been conducted by 50 students of The Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb. Research results show that the environment contributes to the more effective acquisition of ICT competences of future teachers, especially in the field of computer programming.

Resumo: O trabalho é um recorte de uma pesquisa investigativa online, realizada em 2020, com Escolas públicas do Litoral Gaúcho/RS, no qual objetiva-se compartilhar a metodologia de uma atividade desplugada de matemática, em que foi possível explorar, com os estudantes e professores do oitavo ano do fundamental, a lógica da construção do algoritmo ordenado. As análises das resoluções estão ancoradas nos pilares do pensamento computacional, no processo de aprendizagem de fazer e compreender, e na conceituação de resolução de problemas investigativos. A exploração de conceitos de matemática, através destas atividades, encanta os professores e estudantes pois, além de mobilizar, proporciona a aprendizagem dos conceitos.

Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies is an academic journal founded by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The journal publishes original articles in the following areas of research: education management; educational philosophy and educational theory; education policy; curriculum; educational technologies; pedagogy; sociology of education; history of education; special education; teacher training; assessment, etc. The journal also includes reviews of books on education published in local and foreign publications. Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies is published four times per year. The journal is among the publications recommended by the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The extensive use of energy generation processes presents a severe challenge to the environment and makes indispensable to focus the research on the maximization of the energy efficiency and minimization of environmental impact like NOx and CO emissions. The proposed idea describes an approach, based on an artificial life environment, for on-line optimization of complex processes for energy production. Such an approach is based on the evolutionary control methodology which, by emulating the mechanism of the biological evolution, composes the capability of sophisticated models with the continuous learning. In order to work with MSWC (Municipal Solid Waste Combustion) it was necessary to improve the stability of the optimizer to obtain a good compromise between stability and reactivity. In this way, a specific MSWI performance function has been properly defined in order to quantitatively characterize the current status of the process. The evolutionary control approach has been successfully tested on a MSWC simulator and subsequently installed on a real MWSC plant which produce electricity and heat for a small Italian town (Ferrara). The paper reports the first promising experimental tests on the real plant for optimization of energetic efficiency and pollutant emission reduction.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report aims to present the results of the research study entitled "The Analysis of Experience and Good Practices in Supporting the Development of Digital Competence in the context of preparing for detailed implementation of the Digital Poland operational program for 2014-2020 and the coordination of the thematic target 2014.
The study has been jointly conducted by the Warsaw Institute for Economic Studies (WISE Institute) and the Centrum Cyfrowe Projekt: Polska, to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development order. The study aimed to assess the initiatives realised thus far in the field of digital competence development in Poland. Particular emphasis was placed on the efficiency of the projects employed until now, as well as on identifying quality standards and good practices applied in building the digital competence skill set.
Due to the plurality of definitions of digital competence (e-competence) existing in the literature on the field, we assume digital competence to be a „coordinated sets of knowledge, capacities and foundations allowing for an
efficient use of digital technologies in various life dimensions”. This definition, in practice, touches therefore upon using computers and internet-connected mobile phones in as much as ATMs and parcel machines. In this context, the goal of developing e-competence is to enhance the effective usage of information and communication technologies (hereafter ICT) in various areas of life, ranging from work-related issues to science and research, entertainment or dealing with administrative tasks. In the long run, digital competence is expected to foster individual self-fulfilment. It is not meant to consist of a target per se — on the contrary, in such a case, the
development of competence is performed with individual needs and motivations taken into consideration. It thus emphasises potential needs and benefits in all life areas to a larger extent than the usage of ICT and the levelling of social divisions (in a non-mediocentric, relational approach). As a result, a need emerges to shape the aid provided to various societal groups by their own needs and motivations.
Considering the available statistical data, it is possible to observe that indicators of internet accessibility see an upward trend, though since 2009 the growth dynamics have stagnated. The emergence of new technologies
(smartphones or tablets) has a complementary, not a substitutive effect on employing other technologies. Factors that act as strongest determinants of personal attitudes towards using new technologies are age and education
level, while general wealth or social and professional status are of lesser, yet still notable, significance. Among those withstanding from using the Internet, a dominant argument in favour of an offline approach is the lack of opportunities to make use of it. What is more, among those who declare regular contact with the Internet, a shortage of skills is oftentimes observed. The modalities of Internet usage differ from those present in Western Europe.
Not only the percentage of users in the population but also the frequency of Internet usage vary. Using the Internet via mobile phones continues to be at a low level, while the professional, work-related dimension provides hardly any stimuli for digital inclusion. In addition, also the level of competence itself witnesses a major internal differentiation. International research results point to an average low level of digital competence among adults, however, in the case of larger cohorts of children and youth, such differences begin to blur.
Actions aimed at fostering the development of digital competence and e-integration can boast a relatively long tradition in Poland - the first projects of this kind were undertaken in the late 1990s. Those activities placed a particularly strong emphasis on the equipment factor, while the competence factor was not attributed such importance. Among the weaknesses of the actions dating back to those years, the most frequently mentioned are personnel shortages not allowing to fully take advantage of the available equipment, lack of systemic solutions for the issue of Internet accessibility, and, finally, a deficit of an all-encompassing vision of the digital agenda. Until now, it was rather difficult to assess the results of the previous projects, both in terms of its endurance and efficiency of rising competence. Projects that provided positive contributions to the present state of affairs include the Library Development Program, Third Age Library, e-centres run by the Aktywizacja Foundation, the Orange Academy, and the initiative Lamplighters of the Digital Poland. Each of those projects carried, however, certain risks, which ought not to be omitted in the process of designing a public intervention plan such as those aforesaid.
The turn of the century saw also a profound debate on digital development in Europe. National strategic documents reflect those aims, though the context of rising digital competence evolved over the years. In the
period 2004-2006, the issues of competitiveness in the job market were given major attention. Following, in the years 2007-2013, the dominant approach assumed e-competence to be seen as a tool for the development of an innovative economy, pointing to their complementarity with e-services and e-administration, as well as indicating their role in strengthening human capital expansion. The development of ICT was classified within the national
agenda as a necessary condition for catching up with the societal and economic development of Western European countries. Those provisions have been reflected in three nationwide operational programs: Human
Capital, Innovative Economy and Development of Eastern Poland, as well as in regional operational programs, all of which were assumed to be mutually complementary. The last 5 years brought intensified actions on behalf of the
Warszawski Instytut Studiów Ekonomicznych & Centrum Cyfrowe Projekt: Polska public administration, directed at fostering the development of the digital economy. This direction has practically become horizontal vis-a-vis a majority of most aims of the public intervention plan. Over the years,
however, the issues of competence and resources gained prominence at the expense of technical matters. In the 2020 horizon, the development targets in the field of digitisation are set by the European Digital Agenda, while
its domestic operationalisation in Poland is conducted through the Digital Poland program, with an auxiliary role of the Knowledge, Education, Development operational program and the regional operational programs
belonging to the new programming perspective.
Unfortunately, even though it is rather easy to list good practices accomplished within the last 15 years, phrasing the conclusions arising from the entire spectrum of actions aimed at raising digital competence, co-financed (both directly and indirectly) from EU funds remains an uneasy task. This is the case mostly due to the structure of the National Information System, which falls short of meta-data on topics or methodological tools employed in projects. Moreover, the content of funding applications themselves is oftentimes characterised by a shortage of
critical information. The majority of intervention plans have been conducted based on the Human Capital operational program; the Innovative Economy and Development of Eastern Poland were also used, although to a
much lesser extent. The majority of workshops touched upon basic topics, focusing on the issues of societal and professional activation. Nonetheless, a certain share of the projects was aimed at raising competence directly related to the ITC or targeting educational, academic or public administration sectors. The beneficiaries of the public intervention plans were also observed to vary between the different projects - a relatively high percentage of funds were received by the private sector, but a number of specific actions provided a significant stimulus for the development of public administration, educational sector or NGOs.
A deficit of information on the amount of hours per head of workshops relating to digital competence makes it impossible to assess the cost-effectiveness ratio of those projects. More representative conclusions can be drawn by considering their quality. In the case of basic skills workshops, a significant stimulus to participate was the necessity to overcome the anxieties and fears connected with using modern technology, as well as the need for social integration - such needs were not differentiated by the age factor. Participants pointed also to the need to become more independent from other family members or relatives who acted as aides in using the Internet.
With regard to more advanced courses, the focus was placed more often on continuing education or the will to systematically straighten out the knowledge acquired thus far, even though the issues of societal integration
were also highlighted. Quality assessment studies also indicate that workshops, apart from raising the level of e-competence, act to strengthen the self-confidence of the participants. However, to compromise those
two dimensions, the process of selection for workshops' participants needs to receive major attention. Challenges lie also in the notion of providing training for adults, which requires preparation and specific background, often absent in the skill-set of the coaches running aforesaid workshops. Exchange of experience among coaches hardly ever appears, which provides further obstacles in the process of their own training.
Another challenge that lies ahead for Poland is to transfer the existing e-integration initiatives onto the new conditions of Internet usage. The main aim is to facilitate adaptation, inspiration and training, what can be

The storage of historical information consists of the registration of large concentrations of data based on samples of information issued by a given system. Historical databases play a key role in industrial control systems that process and provide the information needed for the tasks of supervision, event records, management, and maintenance in the industrial sector. The purpose of the present research is to analyze the current state of monitoring and control systems, recognizing their advantages and disadvantages, and reaching the state of the art about the selection of a NoSQL database for the recording of time series. The development of the work focused on the comparison of columnoriented storage managers as HBase, Cassandra, and Big Table . After designing and implementing two cases of tests for comparing the behavior of both managers in the scenarios of Intensive Readings and Reading/Writing, it was concluded that both of them present excellent performance for storing historic records.

W artykule omówiono znaczenie sztucznej inteligencji (AI) w kontekście edukacyjnym, jej potencjalne korzyści, a także wyzwania związane z jej implementacją. AI ma zdolność personalizowania procesu nauczania, ułatwiając dostęp do materiałów edukacyjnych oraz automatyzując rutynowe zadania, takie jak ocenianie i monitorowanie postępów uczniów. Jednak pojawiają się również obawy o prywatność danych, etykę oraz wpływ na interakcję między nauczycielem a uczniem, która jest kluczowa w tradycyjnym modelu edukacji. W artykule omówiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w pięciu grupach, obejmujących uczniów, nauczycieli, studentów, wykładowców oraz przedstawicieli biznesu. Wyniki te pokazują zróżnicowane podejścia do wykorzystywania AI w edukacji, wskazując na ogólnie pozytywne nastawienie wobec tej technologii, jednak z uwzględnieniem potrzeby precyzyjnych regulacji. Z analizy wynika, że większość badanych dostrzega potencjał AI do transformacji edukacji, jednak nauczyciele i wykładowcy pozostają ostrożni wobec jej wykorzystania, szczególnie w kontekście przygotowywania prac zaliczeniowych. Rekomendacje zawarte w artykule wskazują na konieczność opracowania wytycznych i norm regulujących korzystanie z AI w edukacji, a także wsparcia dla nauczycieli i uczniów w zakresie etycznego i odpowiedzialnego korzystania z tej technologii.

Digital history is developing in the context of research networking, which means the transfer of research activity to the Internet, fundamentally changing the conditions of scientific activity. The author treats digital history as an element of the digital subculture developed by IT corporations. The phenomenon of surveillance capitalism, described by Shoshana Zuboff, exposes the dangers of digitization to science, where the collection of data by Big Tech carries the risk of information manipulation, transmission control, and violation of researchers' autonomy. Digital history and related technologies are becoming a challenge for historiography, and concerns include networking, corporate data control, and artificial intelligence abuses. The introduction of these technologies also has cultural and social implications, impacting not only freedom of research, but also the work of humanists in an evolving digital culture.

According to numerous researchers, a clear and direct correlation exists between Computational Thinking (CT) and courses falling under the purview of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), thereby advocating for the integration of CT into the curricula of STEM courses. Nonetheless, it is noteworthy that only a few studies have scrutinized this correlation in-depth. Most such studies connect the correlation tacitly and predominantly concentrate on the empirical assessment of CT within the curriculum of one STEM discipline. This research seeks to evaluate the Computational Thinking abilities of 80 high school students in Greece and discern the extent of correlation with their academic performance in STEM and Greek language courses. A longitudinal survey was executed to accomplish this objective, commencing with administering a test designed to gauge the fundamental components of Computational Thinking. It is worth noting that this test draws its inspiration from internationally recognized computer competitions and serves as a credible assessment tool. Subsequently, an assessment was carried out to ascertain the degree of correlation between students' Computational Thinking aptitude and their written performance in the subjects encompassed by the STEM category and the Greek language courses. The outcomes of this investigation revealed the presence of a statistically significant correlation between students' Computational Thinking proficiency and their performance in these academic subjects, further extending to the academic direction of study chosen by the students. Based on the findings of this research, implications and pedagogical recommendations are delineated while concurrently acknowledging the limitations encountered during this study.

Risk assessment is an important factor for successf ul and sustainable entrepreneurship of bioenergy productio n that has become one of the priorities in energy sector o f Latvia. Promotion of the use of renewable energy is included as one of the strategic goals for European Union (EU) and Latvia. As this field of energy production in Latvia is rather new and scantily explored there ar e many risk factors arising in different stages of product ion, starting with planning and building of a bioreactor and ending with production and further use and distribu ion of energy. The present research focuses on risk assess ment in renewable energy production form biomass as this kind of energy is seen as a perspective source for renew abl energy under the conditions of Latvia. A risk asses ment module for renewable energy production made by usin g the Analytic Network Process (ANP) software is described in the paper.

In this study two groups of Grade-8 students interact with a new expressive digital medium, experimenting with the concept of angles through a "tool-shaping" process. The medium, designed to foster students' Creative Mathematical Thinking (CMT), provides a novel set of affordances that are studied under the focus of a meaninggeneration process. The study indicates that the students can arrive to mathematical meaning that enriches the more abstract understanding of angles, while at the same time improving upon certain aspects of CMT.

W artykule uznano transformacje cyfrową za kluczowy czynnik rozwoju gospodarczego, szczególnie w kontekście Unii Europejskiej, która dziś stoi przed złożonymi wyzwaniami geopolitycznymi i gospodarczymi. Celem badania jest zbadanie kluczowych kierunków i narzędzi transformacji cyfrowej w Unii Europejskiej oraz ich wpływu na kształtowanie strategii cyfryzacji mających na celu zapewnienie konkurencyjności i stabilności gospodarek krajów Unii Europejskiej w kontekście globalnym. Uwzględniono specyfikę procesów kształtowania innowacyjnej gospodarki w Unii Europejskiej w procesie cyfrowej transformacji systemu gospodarczego oraz tendencje kryzysowe powstające pod wpływem czynników zewnętrznych. Badane są strategie i inicjatywy, które Unia Europejska podejmuje, aby zapewnić promocje rozwoju cyfrowego i tworzenie sprzyjającego środowiska do wprowadzania innowacji. Pod uwagę brane są czynniki charakteryzujące proces transformacji cyfrowej, takie jak infrastruktura cyfrowa, rozwój technologii cyfrowych, stymulowanie rozwoju kompetencji cyfrowych oraz wsparcie cyfrowych startupów. Określono specyfikę kształtowania źródeł finansowania transformacji cyfrowej systemu gospodarczego Unii Europejskiej oraz inicjatyw regulacyjnych mających na celu stymulowanie innowacyjnej przedsiębiorczości i rozwoju technologii cyfrowych w warunkach współczesnych wyzwań kryzysowych. Udowodniono, ze konsekwencja takiego podejścia jest ukształtowanie konkurencyjnej i zrównoważonej gospodarki Unii Europejskiej, która spełnia współczesne wymagania i zapewnia zrównoważony wzrost gospodarczy w warunkach niepewności i zmian. Uwzględniany jest także wpływ transformacji cyfrowej na warunki rynkowe i ekosystem biznesowy Unii Europejskiej, w tym aspekty otoczenia biznesowego, tworzenie miejsc pracy i wspieranie innowacyjnych pomysłów. Zbadano szanse i wyzwania towarzyszące procesowi transformacji cyfrowej w warunkach kryzysów gospodarczych, w szczególności w kontekście zmian w krajobrazie społeczno-gospodarczym. Określono strategiczne kierunki transformacji cyfrowej mające na celu zapewnienie stabilności i rozwoju gospodarki europejskiej w warunkach nieprzewidywalności i niestabilności.

This article discusses digital transformation as a key factor in economic development, particularly in the context of the European Union, which faces complex geopolitical and economic challenges. The article considers the specific processes involved in shaping an innovative economy in the European Union during the digital transformation of the economic system, along with the crisis tendencies arising from external factors. It examines the strategies and initiatives that the European Union is undertaking to promote digital development and create an enabling environment for innovation. The article also highlights key factors characterizing the digital transformation process, such as digital infrastructure, the development of digital technologies, the stimulation of digital competencies, and support for digital startups. The article also explores the specific mechanisms for financing digital transformation in the EU economy and regulatory initiatives aimed at stimulating innovative entrepreneurship and the development of digital technologies in the context of contemporary crises. It demonstrates that this approach results in the formation of a competitive and sustainable European economy, capable of meeting modern demands and ensuring sustainable economic growth amidst uncertainty and change. Furthermore, the article addresses the impact of digital transformation on market conditions and the EU business ecosystem, including the business environment, job creation, and support for innovative ideas. It also discusses the opportunities and challenges posed by digital transformation in times of economic crises, particularly in relation to changes in the socio-economic landscape. Finally, strategic directions for digital transformation are identified to ensure the stability and growth of the European economy in unpredictable and unstable conditions.

Classical subjects and competencies, such as algebraic thinking, have a recognizable categorization. Although these categorizations may have small variations between educational systems, levels of education or fields of application, in the curricula of any country or university there are great similarities between them. This is not the case with computational thinking. Since Wing gave it a boost in 2006, this new competence has been gaining ground in the teaching practice of different subjects and it is currently being incorporated into the curricula of a multitude of educational systems. Learning computational thinking involves working on concepts such as logical reasoning, algorithmic thinking and problemsolving techniques. However, its definition is not yet unique, although affinities are being achieved in this sense. But its categorization is a point on which positions have not been brought closer. Since this competency is not usually an independent subject, but is linked to one or more subjects, its categorization usually depends on this or these subjects. In this paper, we study different categorizations of computational thinking and make a proposal agreed upon by several entities from different countries. Categorization of computational thinking refers to the identification and classification of its key components and skills. This categorization helps to better understand how computational thinking can be taught, learned and applied in different contexts. The categorization of computational thinking is crucial to its teaching and learning. By identifying and categorizing these skills, educators can develop more effective curricula and students can better understand how to apply these skills in different contexts. In this paper, by qualitatively analyzing the different categorizations, and studying their implementations in different types of subjects through a content analysis, we obtain as a result a global categorization.

O nowy kształt edukacji akademickiej w kontekście kultury cyfrowej Wprowadzenie Rozwój nowych technik cyfrowych dokonuje się w niezwykle szybkim tempie. Na skutek tych przemian przeobrażeniu ulega środowisko informacyjne i edukacyjne współczesnego człowieka, wzbogacając się stale o nowe narzędzia i usługi. Powszechne i efektywne wykorzystanie nowych technologii stanowi przede wszystkim domenę młodego pokolenia, które wraz z nimi dorastało. Młodzież, określana właśnie z tego powodu mianem pokolenia sieci czy cyfrowych tubylców, traktuje technologie jako integralną cząstkę otaczającej ją rzeczywistości, jako zjawisko naturalne i oczywiste. Temu procesowi zanikania granic dodatkowo sprzyja dynamiczna wirtualizacja życia społecznego, dzięki sieciom społecznościowym Internet zaczyna w kontaktach rówieśniczych pełnić dla młodych ludzi funkcję podstawowego środowiska komunikacyjnego i przestrzeni spotkania. Nawyki nabyte w kontakcie z technologiami informacyjno-komunikacyjnymi młodzież często przenosi na swoją aktywność edukacyjną. Może to być związane zarówno z pozytywnymi, jak i negatywnymi aspektami procesu kształcenia. Z jednej strony bowiem nowe technologie dają dostęp do niezliczonych i różnorodnych zasobów informacyjnych i materiałów edukacyjnych, dostarczają przydatnych w procesie uczenia się narzędzi, umożliwiają wyższy poziom indywidualizacji nauczania, ale z drugiej sprzyjają zachowaniom negatywnym, takim jak powszechne plagiaty, łamanie praw autorskich, brak weryfikacji wiarygodności i aktualności zaczerpniętych z Internetu informacji oraz głębszej refleksji nad prezentowanymi treściami.
