Resumen En este artículo se abordarán los principales eventos de capitalidades culturales europeas y, en concreto, la situada en 2016 en la ciudad de Donostia-San Sebastián. Este mecanismo designa una ciudad anfitriona encargada de organizar un programa de actos culturales y los beneficios esperados para las ciudades acogedoras pueden resumirse en dos vertientes: fomento de la cultura entre su ciudadanía y proyección internacional de la ciudad. Lo que los sitúa en un plano cercano al capitalismo transestético en tanto en cuanto, comparten tres características tales como imagen de la ciudad, participación ciudadana y vitalidad cultural (García and Cox, 2013) que permitirían plantear el encaje de estos eventos dentro de un régimen poscultural, en el que funcionan como place y national branding. En estos eventos, tiene su lugar, además, el patrimonio literario del lugar, mediante recorridos literarios o productos comerciales. Que, relacionado con lo anterior, nos lleva a considerarlo dentro de una estrategia posliteraria.

This paper provides a comprehensive examination of a design philosophy pioneered and institutionalized by the National Institute of Design (NID) in India. It is argued that for a nation as complex and multifaceted as India, a successful design methodology must be inherently linked to its distinct cultural heritage, economic realities, and foundational ethical principles. The analysis begins by exploring the profound influence of Gandhian philosophy-particularly its tenets of simplicity, self-reliance (swadeshi), and decentralized "production by the masses"-on this design framework. The paper then systematically delineates the core pillars of Societal Design: the promotion of indigenous innovation, the application of frugal engineering principles, and the strategic empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the traditional crafts sector. By analysing NID's role as a trans-disciplinary Centre of Excellence, this research demonstrates how Societal Design transcends conventional commercial objectives, positioning itself as a potent and people-centric catalyst for inclusive growth and sustainable national development.

The paper demonstrates the need for an entrepreneurial attitude and competence in designers of today in order to ensure innovation. The paper considers evidence from four design innovation case studies to explore the relationship between design capabilities and the wider conditions necessary for innovation. All four case studies have been conducted in collaboration with commercial organisations seeking innovation, and designers and academics based in a university in the United Kingdom. First, a review of design’s capabilities is presented from the literature. Second, evidence from each case study is mapped to the UK Design Council’s popular model of design process: the double diamond. This paper describes lessons learned through the use of a Social Return On Investment (SROI) approach to evaluate a completed Service Design project with a large vocational training company. It is written by the Service Design team that led the original project and who subsequently used SROI to evaluate its impact. Experiencing the SROI evaluation process first-hand, in a live setting, is the approach by which the authors develop a discussion about its potential fit with Service Design processes. The SROI method enabled both the design team and the case-study organisation to acknowledge and measure additional social/stakeholder benefits created through the design work. Lietuvos sociologijos padangėje sužibo reto įdomumo žvaigždė -Gregory Sandstromas, Kanadoje gimęs ir studijavęs sociologas, savo daktaro disertaciją apgynęs Sankt Petergurbe, o šiandien dėstantis Vilniuje Europos humanitariniame universitete. Jo 2014 metais pasirodžiusi knyga Žmogiškumo tąsa: alternatyva evoliucionizmui, kreacionizmui ir protingam sumanymui (Human Extension: An Alternative to Evolutionism, Creationism and Intelligent Design, Palgrave-Macmillan) yra įdomi savo ambicija laužyti nusistovėjusias socialinių tyrinėjimų tradicijas ir siekiu apginti socialinės teorijos kontekste autoriaus siūlomą neologizmą. Steve'o Fullerio parašytoje įžangoje, kuri, žinoma, prisidėjo prie šios knygos publikavimo geroje leidykloje, teigiama, kad Sandstromas "meta iššūkį didžiajam ideologiniam fetišui "evoliucijai", siekdamas pakeisti ją "tąsos" sąvoka" (p. viii). Pagrindinę šios knygos idėją pats autorius nusako taip: "knyga siekia naujos sintezės aptarus antikinę (dieviškojo sukūrimo) tezę ir XIX amžiaus antitezę (evoliuciją). XXI amžiaus socialinė epistemologinė sintezė įgauna žmogaus pratęsimo formą kaip teisėtą temą anapus gamtos mokslų" (p. 3). A Teoria Estímulo-Organismo-Resposta, do inglês Stimulus-Organism-Response(SOR), empregada  na  análise  do  comportamento  turístico,  foca  em  como  estímulos  externos, estados  emocionais  internos  (organismo)  e  decisões  de  viagem  estão  interligados. Através de uma revisão sistemática de literatura examina-se como a SOR está aplicada na  pesquisa  em turismo para  compreender  intenções  e  experiências  comportamentais dos turistas, a partir da aplicação dos termos de busca “Estímulo Organismo Resposta” e “turismo” no título, resumo ou palavras-chave, resultando em uma amostra final de 173  artigoscientíficos,  para  análise  com  suporte  do softwareIRaMuTeQ  a  partir  da Classificação  Hierárquica  Descendente  (CHD),  Estatísticas  Textuais  e  Análise  de Similitude (AS). A literatura analisada constatou que a SOR no turismo está associada a  pesquisas  que  envolvem  Tecnologia,  Marketing,  Planejamento  e  Gestão,  tanto  de destinos  quanto  de  atrativos  turísticos,  dividindo  em temáticas  específicas  agrupadas em cinco clusters, identificando padrões e tendências emergentes da prática do turismo, além de elucidar os processos decisórios dos turistas a partir de cada temática, e fornecer aspectos  importantes  para  planejamento  e  gestão  de  destinos.  Este  estudo  contribui para  o  avanço  teórico  e  metodológico  do  conhecimento  em  turismo  e  áreas  afins,  ao oferecer um levantamento aprofundado e abrangente da teoria SOR.Palavras-Chave:Tecnologia;  Marketing;  Gestão  de  Destinos;  Teoria  Estímulo-Organismo-Resposta.ISSN2594-8407Licenciada por Creative Commons 4.0 / InternacionalCC BY 4.0

Based on anthropological research on the “making”， this paper argues that the knowledge of folk women’s handicrafts is not a static, linear textual description, but a dynamic generative process rooted in women’s daily embodied practices. In this process, the knowledge of skills emerges through the deep interaction between the skilled body and material substances, with “textility” being its core material characteristic. The “In-between-objects” that serve as templates constitute the key medium for the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage: they are both the material anchor points for the flow of traditional patterns and the action interfaces that inspire individual improvisation. The daily life practices of women of different generations around the “In-between-objects” not only form the “dynamic tradition” of women’s handicrafts but also highlight the subjectivity of women creators. This paper’s discussion of “In-between-objects” reveals the essence of the “body-material” interactive knowledge generation in intangible cultural heritage and provides an important basis for reconstructing the neglected female knowledge production system in the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.

In recent years, ecological aesthetic education, with its focus on the human-land relationship, has gained prominence across various regions. Relationship design has emerged as a new trend in the development of ecological aesthetic education, with a profound impact on the development of children ecological aesthetic education models. From the perspectives of design stage characteristics and regional symbiosis goal, this paper reveals the function basis and development potential of relationship design in children ecological aesthetic education. Then, using the relationship design framework, three new models of children ecological aesthetic education towards regional symbiosis are summarized. With case studies, the pathways of relationship design intervention in each model are analyzed, highlighting perception, co-creation and speculation as important nodes in shaping human-land relationship.

The European Union's circular economy (CE) policy aims to foster closed-loop systems that reduce waste and resource use, yet its practical implementation remains limited. Open innovation (OI)-the cross-organizational sharing of knowledge and collaborative problem-solving-offers a promising but underexplored pathway to accelerate circular economy transformation, particularly by enabling collaboration among diverse actors. This study addresses a critical research gap by examining how OI instruments mobilize multi-actor collaboration for circular economy goals, using an in-depth case study of Fab City Hamburg (FCH)-a pioneering initiative combining OI and CE principles to promote local, open, and circular production. Drawing on qualitative analysis of two circular open labs within FCH and integrating insights from transition theory with the small wins governance framework, we offer original insights into the dynamics of open innovation for circular economy transformation. Our findings reveal that open innovation instruments foster spreading and partial deepening of circular practices by supporting learning, experimentation, and community-building. However, significant barriers to broadening collaborations persist, including conflicting understandings of openness and circularity, organizational asymmetries, and unstable funding structures. The study contributes to the literature on CE and OI by offering a multi-actor, governance-oriented perspective on collaborative circular innovation. We highlight both synergies and frictions in applying OI to CE contexts and provide practical guidance for policymakers, intermediaries, and practitioners seeking to foster collaborative innovation and overcome barriers in circular economy transitions.

O conceito de inovação na arquitetura contemporânea foi amplamente discutido na mesa "Ações inovadoras em arquitetura contemporânea e seus processos de projeto", realizada durante o XI Fórum de Pesquisa FAU+D Mackenzie, de 17 a 19 de setembro de 2024. This contribution represents a new research path on the collaboration between human creativity and artificial intelligence in fashion, investigated through the theoretical perspective of post-human fashion.
Starting from the analysis of some case studies in which designers and AI collaborate in the phases of conception and design, the reflection will bring to light the questions that are characterising fashion research and didactics in this transition, including: how the role and identity of the fashion designer
are changing; what new skills are needed to act in this panorama; how disciplinary boundaries are transforming, and methodologies are hybridising; how the collaboration between man and machine can enhance diversity.

The research analyses the role of community cooperatives in ‘Community Making’, investigating their dual nature
as instruments of local development and social innovation. The study, based on qualitative and quantitative
methodologies, examines four experiments active in Sicily, a context in which other local development policies
coexist, such as the National Strategy for Inner Areas and Local Action Groups. The analysis highlights the hybrid
nature of these experiments, but also the study’s limitations, linked to the lack of analysis of existing strategic
frameworks and their degree of integration with these models.

This is how Zoroaster characterized legitimate power in The Good Dominion, a chapter of
his hymns known as Gatha. This estimated 3000-year old text encapsulates an enduring
fascination with power structures based on elections. Similarly, the origins of design lie in
early craftsmanship. However, in the 20th century, design has transformed from a form-giving practice to a change-making discipline. While inherently political, design’s characterization as a problem-solving discipline has compelled it to address complex societal challenges at the forefront of its concerns. This paradigm shift has given rise to the emergence of sub-disciplines such as social design, transition design, design activism, and policy design. Consequently, designers cannot be indifferent to politics, given the profound impact that design has on society. Of all political systems, democracy may be the most prevalent, with over half of the world’s nations currently embracing it. Despite ongoing challenges, long-term political trends indicate a global growth in democratic governance.

The discourse on democracy within design literature has persisted since at least the early 21st century. Bonsiepe’s work, for example, defines democracy as a transformative force enabling citizen autonomy, while Manzini and Margolin have called on the design community to support democracy amidst attacks on democratic principles in several countries. However, despite growing interest, design and democracy requires substantial
establishment to become a recognized area within the design field. The book under review, Design and Democracy: Activist Thoughts and Examples for Political Empowerment, edited by the late design theorist Michael Erlhoff and design activist Maziar Rezai, compiles perspectives from active members of the design community, reflecting on the nexus between design and democracy.

While the book has garnered three critical reviews from unique perspectives, each valid in its own right, certain aspects remain contradictory. This review aims to contribute by examining these contradictions as essential components of the book, illuminating pivotal
perspectives that shape research and practice in design and democracy. We delve into the potential and limitations of design in serving democracy, exploring democracy's diverse, agnostic, and norm-breaking nature—considered through both theoretical and practical perspectives.

This paper analysed the relations between entrepreneurial attitudes among the citizens of European countries and the results of economies in the field of innovativeness. Data published in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) and European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS) were used to assess these relations. It was demonstrated that the citizens of countries witha higher innovativeness ratio demonstrate weaker entrepreneurial intentions (intensions to start a business within three years). Paradoxically, in more innovative countries, in spite of a stronger perception of opportunities to start a new firm, weaker intentions to start a business are also observed, which may result from greater attractiveness of remunerated employment as well as a more critical assessment of their skills and knowledge of starting a business.

Because the main modes of transmission of the COVID-19 virus are respiration and contact, WHO recommends frequent washing of hands with soap under running water for at least 20 seconds. This article investigates how the level of concern about COVID-19 affects the likelihood of washing hands frequently in sub-Saharan Africa. The study makes use of a unique survey dataset from 12 sub-Saharan African countries collected in April 2020 (first round) and May 2020 (second round) and employs an extended ordered probit model with an endogenous covariate. The results show that the level of concern about the spread of the virus increases the likelihood of washing hands with soap under running water for a minimum of 20 seconds at least five times a day. The increase in the probability of handwashing due to concern about COVID-19 ranges from 1.4% for Nigeria to 7.2% for South Africa. O artesanato brasileiro é rico e variado, e essa diversidade se deve, em parte, à grande variedade da matéria-prima encontrada na fauna e na flora de cada região. Dentre essa variedade estão as sementes de diversas espécies que ao passar nas mãos de artesãos e artesãs, tornam-se peças de beleza singulares, conhecidas como biojoias. A região Norte é um grande produtor desse tipo de artesanato devido as sementes utilizadas serem extraídas da Floresta Amazônica. Porém, o Maranhão, embora não seja geograficamente localizado nessa região, tem parte do seu território formado por essa vegetação o que proporciona diversos tipos de sementes, em especial a juçara que é conhecida nos demais estados brasileiros como açaí, muito utilizada nesse tipo de artesanato. É bastante comum ver em pontos turísticos de São Luís, o artesanato com sementes de juçara, já beneficiadas (polidas, furadas e tingidas). O beneficiamento realizado nas sementes não é feito no Maranhão, elas chegam de outros Estados da região amazônica e são vendidas por fornecedores para os artesãos. O trabalho dentro Estado se restringe a confecção das biojóias (CORREA, 2010). Na cidade de São Luís, capital do Maranhão, o bairro do Maracanã possui o maior juçaral (plantação de juçara) da Ilha e no período de safra toneladas de polpa da fruta são extraídas e vendidas, no entanto, as sementes são descartadas sendo que poderiam ser usadas para outros fins, inclusive o artesanato. Diante desse problema, o Núcleo de Inovação, Design e Antropologia (NIDA), do curso de Design da Universidade Federal do Maranhão, procurou por meio do projeto de extensão "ARTESANATO NO MARACANÃ: utilização da semente de juçara na produção artesanal", utilizar a semente de juçara em produções artesanais, tendo o design como mediador do processo. O trabalho "Joias do Maracanã: tingimento natural de sementes" é parte desse projeto, onde trata-se em especial, do tingimento natural feito nas sementes de juçara. Como metodologia de pesquisa utilizou-se o design etnográfico . Para fundamentação teórica traz-se considerações sobre a semente de juçara e o Maracanã, tingimento natural, o projeto Artesanato no Maracanã e a execução da etapa de tingimento, resultando em sementes diferenciadas das encontradas no mercado local, demonstradas através de peças confeccionadas por meio do projeto.

Evolving from the dawn of the design industry during the first Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century to the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the concept of design research has extended from the humble beginning of studying how to improve the quality of design artefacts and design process to a bigger perspective of solving design problems. However, the so-called design problem may not be the problem that can be effortlessly solved with the creation of design artefacts or ideas; it may involve wicked problems that require researchers to look into the matter comprehensively and holistically. It requires systems thinking, socio-technical systems approach, and the new DesignX concept posited by Donald A. Norman and other design scholars. This article explores this new extended horizon of design research and discusses possible research ideas and future spectrums. It provides insight to prospective postgraduate students who are interested in conducting research in the area.

Bourdieu made neither comprehensive empirical studies of the state nor did he develop a coherent theory of the state. Yet throughout his work it is possible to find various guiding principles on how the state can be examined, most of which are based on his studies in other areas. These guiding principles point out directions for new empirical studies and new ways of examining the state. This article explores the various analyses of the state in Bourdieu’s work, with a dual purpose. On the one hand, it discusses the theoretical reflections and methodological tools that enabled Bourdieu to develop a sociological reflexive approach to the study of the state. On the other hand the article points out some of the general elements in Bourdieu’s analyses of the state. Toujours plus rapide, plus fort, plus beau, plus intelligent, le culte de la performance individuelle s’est imposé dans une société technologique où le corps semble de plus en plus envisagé comme un outil améliorable. En tant qu’espèce, l’homme s’est toujours adapté à son environnement mais les exigences envers ses performances sont de plus en plus pointues et évoluent rapidement.

Dans l’univers technologique et numérique contemporain, le design constitue un outil de réflexion et de création sur l’amélioration de nos capacités physiques, intellectuelles et émotionnelles. Mais cette implication soulève une série de questions médicales, éthiques, sociales et philosophiques. En effet, ce désir de dépasser ses limites biologiques s’inscrit dans un contexte culturel et social et reflète une manière de faire société qu’il importe d’interroger. Après avoir façonné le monde qui nous entoure, quel est le rôle du designer dans une société qui veut faire de nous des super-humains ?

La tercera edición del Cuaderno Creatividad Solidaria se denomina Indagaciones y relatos que transforman contextos reales y está integrada a la Línea de Investigación Nro. 2 de la Facultad de Diseño y Comunicación (UP, Argentina) que se denomina Creatividad Solidaria: Proyectos, prácticas y producciones de Diseño Social. Una línea que trata el abordaje de problemáticas actuales desde el diseño, mostrando cómo se puede generar un impacto tangible en la vida de las personas y las comunidades. Esta edición continúa con sus dos categorías de producción: Línea académica y Relato de experiencias significativas. Así, dentro del mismo cuaderno, conviven proyectos académicos que siguen el formato metodológico de investigación e indagan en múltiples temas actuales desde una perspectiva teórica junto a relatos que ofrecen una mirada más vivencial del diseño ya que indagan en contextos reales.

De ahí la amplitud de temáticas que aquí se tratan, desde la investigación de tecnologías innovadoras en el aula, hasta la organización de eventos culturales en barrios o la colaboración con comunidades de artesanas locales. En donde se destaca el papel transformador que puede desempeñar el diseño en la sociedad, dado que al fomentar la creatividad y la colaboración mutua a través de la participación comunitaria, se construyen redes de apoyo y espacios de pertenencia. De este modo, se trascienden las fronteras del diseño tradicional para inspirar un cambio positivo y duradero en las distintas comunidades. En este sentido, la presente edición, tiene un alcance internacional dado que reúne contribuciones de profesionales e instituciones de Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Ecuador, España y México. De esta manera, Creatividad Solidaria. Indagaciones y relatos que transforman contextos reales incorpora trabajos que reflejan la diversidad de preocupaciones y perspectivas multiculturales pero también testimonia una preocupación compartida. En suma: los trabajos aquí presentados ilustran la amplitud y la profundidad del campo del diseño, así como su capacidad para abordar una amplia gama de problemas sociales, culturales y ambientales en toda la región y el mundo. Cada artículo ofrece una perspectiva única y expresa diversas temáticas, que van desde la sostenibilidad y la vivienda social hasta la salud mental y la preservación cultural. Por consiguiente, la presente edición demuestra que el diseño es una disciplina global que trasciende fronteras. Las producciones que aquí se presentan se encuentran ordenadas alfabéticamente por el apellido del primer autor.

La evaluación en contextos sociales resulta una tarea compleja que puede abordarse desde diferentes perspectivas. Si bien existen diversos marcos y herramientas para la medición del impacto en procesos comunitarios de innovación social;; su subjetividad, carácter intangible, informalidad y riqueza mayormente cualitativa, suponen un reto.

El diseño tiene la capacidad de representar sistemas complejos a través de la visualización y sistematización de información, haciéndola más intuitiva y accesible. Su carácter visual permite la democratización de procesos densos, permitiendo la integración de todas las personas involucradas. En el contexto de un proceso participativo resulta fundamental el acercamiento e inclusión de todas las partes, por lo que esta disciplina es clave para eliminar barreras cognitivas y horizontalizar los procesos.

El presente capítulo aborda la evaluación de proyectos comunitarios desde el diseño, empleando instrumentos y métodos propios de esta disciplina para dotar de un carácter más visual, innovador y creativo al reto que supone la evaluación participativa. Esta se plantea desde la perspectiva de una investigación en curso con conclusiones y resultados aún por determinar. A partir del análisis de diversas experiencias, en conjunción con literatura y aportaciones desde el diseño, la innovación social y el trabajo social; ahonda en la concreción de un marco común para la evaluación participativa.

Este análisis se apoya en la recopilación de distintas herramientas y métodos de evaluación innovadores desde el ámbito del diseño. En este sentido, se ilustran posibilidades de medición social de carácter visual, que puedan realizarse de manera colaborativa frente a las evaluaciones individuales en los formatos tradicionales. Bajo la necesidad de entender la evaluación, no como un fin último, sino como una herramienta transversal a todo el proceso; se profundiza en diferentes sistemas de visualización de procesos complejos en diferentes temporalidades; como por ejemplo la facilitación gráfica o la ludificación. Se exponen dudas y debates abiertos que pretenden socializar planteamientos y limitaciones de la investigación en curso.

Como resultados y conclusiones preliminares, se considera fundamental la integración de todos los actores implicados en el proceso participativo para poder establecer un marco de evaluación común. En este sentido, la evaluación de cada proceso participativo —con sus particularidades territoriales y sociales— debe ser situada y no plantearse desde sistemas cerrados y fórmulas únicas. Asimismo, se plantea su pertinente revisión y adecuación pasados los años.

Wool has played a crucial role in the history of mankind for a long time, its versatility bringing together different cultures across the continents. A network of wool production, processing and trade flourished in inland and mountainous areas, fostering strong social, economic and environmental values associated with this raw material. However, the wool industry declined in the 20th century due to globalisation and competition from cheap synthetic fibres, reducing native wool to a by-product. Environmental challenges arose as wool was discarded or abandoned, and critical activities such as fleece washing ceased, exacerbating the crisis. Today, despite structural difficulties, initiatives aim to revive regional wool by creating small, independent systems that defy traditional production models. These projects focus on sustainable, short supply chains and systemic design, renewing the value of native wool through innovative, culturally significant products. This environmental movement involves the mobilisation of local resources and the promotion of sustainable co-existence between people and their environment. Through the analysis of case studies, this research seeks to explore how such initiatives can inspire future policies that promote a sustainable, holistic vision of prosperity, encompassing social, environmental and ethical well-being.

We continued to work throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic. After weeks of sheltering in place, Memorial Day in the US, just over a week ago, was marked by two very racist incidents that changed the landscape again. The current unrest is a clear reminder of the need to create space for multiple voices and perspectives in our lives. COVID-19 forced people to use the word 'Pivot', and we hope the current unrest will result in even more significant shifts in society. We thank the designers and researchers who answered our call, despite challenges with technology, lack of childcare, and the difficulty of focusing at this time. We feel honored that you were able to participate. We thank you for your patience with our changes in information or format along the way due to ever-morphing situations and the speed with which we were trying to accomplish this work. Las narrativas transmedia han transformado la forma en que se imparte la docencia. En este contexto los estudiantes y profesores pueden expresar sus experiencias y sus opiniones utilizando diversas herramientas de creacion de contenido compartidas en un entorno mayoritariamente online . Actualmente, se pueden encontrar estudios que apoyan los beneficios del storytelling en la educacion. El objetivo de este articulo es responder a la pregunta: ?cuan eficaz es el uso de la narracion transmedia en la educacion? Pretendemos verificar su efectividad en los procesos de ensenanza. Para ello se ha realizado una revision bibliografica, con el objetivo especifico de identificar como se esta implementando en la educacion.

El  presente  documento  analiza  la  interacción  sujeto-objeto-entorno que  se  produce en la utilización de un banco en un espacio semipúblico dentro de la Faculta de Arquitectura (FARQ) del centro educativo de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), donde se explora como la forma del objeto de diseño promueve diversas funciones y actividades. En este contexto, se pretende evidenciar la función explícita del objeto como de  su  morfología,  con  el  objetivo  de  revalorar  el  proceso  de  diseño  frente  a  la  estandarización del mobiliario urbano (banco, bancas, asientos) a partir de su distribución y  adaptabilidad.  Para  el  caso  de estudio,  se  documenta  el  amplio  espectro  de  funciones  que se le asignan al objeto y su relación, con la jerarquía de necesidades establecida por Maslow los cuales demuestran cómo no sólo se proporciona un elemento de descanso. A través de la observación directa, el registro fotográfico y la utilización de diversas herramientas metodológicas se integran y sintetizan cualidades formales y funcionales, lo que permite categorizar lo tangible e intangible, lo fisiológico y aquello que permite alcanzar los más altos niveles de satisfacción, bienestar en la usabilidad de dicho objeto, donde cada actividad que se produce en dicho espacio, visibiliza la complejidad que se produce como parte  del  proceso de  diseño  de  mobiliario.  Los  hallazgos  revelan  que  las  soluciones que  integrales promueven espacios de habitabilidad y bienestar al adaptarse a la diversidad de necesidades humanas.

The progressive fragmentation of communities of inhabitants, understood as collective figures of construction and care of their living environment, is at the base of the decline in the quality of the territory. The current loss of the sense of community exasperates the loss of the activities of proximity, but also the rupture of the millennial co-evolutionary links between human artifacts and nature, fueling a planetary exodus that produces a double effect: on the one hand we see the depopulation of small towns and the abandonment of the defense and care of the rural territory, on the other hand, instead, we observe an increase of inhabitants in the “anonymous” peripheral agglomerations of megacities. Today, returning to take care of the environment involves the mobilization of local energies able to overturn the hierarchy of consolidated values, experimenting with renewed forms of local development, based on the enhancement of territorial heritage as a common good. These actions are united by putting into practice the "communing", the management and care of local resources. The aim of this paper is to draw attention to strategic scenarios, theoretical guidelines and examples of good design practices already created or in progress, related to the promotion of ecological and multifuncional agrotertiary, community neo-cooperatives attentive to the territory, local production systems integrated with ethical values and experiences of co-design, self-organization and social self-construction activators of proximity relationships and productive activities, social and cultural self-managed, highlighting the contribution that a multiscale design can provide in transforming territorial fragility into social and economic opportunities.

This article explores the significance of prototyping methodologies in participatory design projects, with a focus on the European Fund research project SMOTIES. This project involves a consortium of 10 partners who developed tools to establish a shared methodology for co-designing with local community groups. The primary goal is to help small, remote areas preserve their heritage, culture, and identity, fostering pride and motivating these communities to envision sustainable futures. The importance of prototyping in participatory design is based on understanding the evolving socioeconomic landscape and the need for innovative solutions. Prototyping is not just a phase in the design process; it is a strategic endeavor for risk mitigation and a catalyst for sustainable social change. Within this framework, the article presents three different Prototyping Studios with specific tools that helped researchers in three different locations and contexts to develop and implement the wishes of their local communities.

Ao organizar o Simpósio de Design Sustentável 2015 (SBDS 2015), tínhamos o desejo que se constituísse como um momento de intensa e profícua troca entre pesquisadores brasileiros em design engajados com a temática da sustentabilidade, oportunizando dinâmicas favoráveis à produção cientifica não só para o evento, mas também durante a sua realização. Éramos movidos nesta direção pelo desejo de resgatar os eventos científicos como espaços de produção de conhecimento, e, nesta perspectiva, considerávamos necessário promover novas práticas para os seminários e os congressos nacionais. Portanto, começamos uma busca por dinâmicas que permitissem uma troca mais aprofundada de ideias entre os pesquisadores, que lhes oportunizassem um tempo para reflexão, que lhes trouxessem insumos para pesquisa e que fortalecessem a dimensão coletiva da produção de conhecimento. Trata-se de uma busca que ainda não terminou, mas que nos levou a propor no SBDS 2015 uma nova dinâmica de troca cientifica que resultou no presente livro. A temática que escolhemos para a edição 2015 do SBDS -temática que se tornou sucessivamente também a deste livro -foi o tripé da sustentabilidade, ou seja, os aspectos ambientais, sociais e econômicos ligados ao processo de projetação de produtos e serviços. Neste cenário, destacamos algumas áreas que priorizam um destes aspectos: Design Social e Inovação Social para a dimensão social; Ecodesign e Análise do Ciclo de Vida para a dimensão ambiental; Design e Artesanato e Design e Território para a dimensão econômica. Os trabalhos do 5º Simpósio de Design Sustentável tinham, portanto, que contribuir para uma reflexão e aprofundamento destas áreas, levando a uma melhor definição de quais são os conceitos e os limites de atuação destas no âmbito brasileiro. Abstract: This research explores the structural transformations within the Saudi economy under Vision 2030, with particular emphasis on the growing significance of the cultural and digital creative sectors—collectively referred to as the Creator Economy. Drawing on national and international data, it offers an analytical overview of the opportunities and challenges facing this emerging field, and proposes an institutional model inspired by global practices such as South Korea's KOCCA, tailored to the Saudi context. The study also discusses the role of cultural and digital policies, and proposes a national digital creators center as a scalable intervention, emphasizing intersections with sectors like tourism, handicrafts, manufacturing, and cultural branding.

The social business idea borrows some concepts from the capitalist economy, and therefore the implementation of social businesses can likewise borrow some concepts from conventional business literature. As an illustration, the notion of business model, which is currently attracting much attention from researchers, can be revisited so as to enable the building of social businesses. Social business models are needed alongside conventional ones. After defining what a social business is, we will describe the first endeavors to create such businesses within the Grameen Group. This in turn will lead to a discussion of the social business model.

The 4.0 revolution brings significant changes to the normative world, considering that it makes enormous transformations in the statu quo. Consequently, the Law is impelled to accompany such changes, observing new post-modern phenomena, as well as co-creating new ways of thinking and providing access to justice. Thus, Legal Design emerges as an instrument of empowerment and a mechanism for social emancipation, in view of its impetus to create desirable futures for users of the legal system. The aim of this article is to present the nuances of Legal Design as an emancipatory mechanism, approaching the practical experience developed in the Legal Design Laboratory at University of São Paulo (usp), whose focus is on vulnerable populations. The adopted methodology was bibliographic review and exploratory based on case studies, in order to present and discuss the theme from a global south bias. The remit of the Natural History Museum, London, encompasses the whole of the natural world and places it at the forefront of global concerns about human impact on the biosphere. The Museum's stature as a world leading institution for storing and recording living diversity brings responsibilities, obligations and new prospects. In addition to revealing the genetic evolution of life in considerable detail, advances in molecular biology and cryogenics offer exciting new opportunities to extend beyond the Museum's traditional role as a storehouse for recording living diversity and to take a lead in biodiversity conservation. In its strategy for the coming decade, the Museum has declared a planetary emergency for which we need an unprecedented response, asserting that we must act now, that we must act on scientific evidence and that we must act together. However, the Museum is no longer led by scientists; its relevant expertise and the prioritisation of its collectionbased world-leading role is being rapidly dismantled. It has been taken over by an administrative structure and placed under a government Department that have no notion of the importance of this role. Much of the Museum's activity is no longer led by science intimately connected to its role as a collections-based institution and its public profile is dominated by journalistic presentations from sources that are widely available to a broad range of the media. Inappropriate leadership and recruitment have diverted its science base in directions that place much of its research within the activities of numerous other academic agencies, undermining the reason and justification for the Museum's existence. The move of about half of the collections and associated scientific staff to a location outside of London is a self-imposed act of institutional vandalism. It will mutilate a national treasure, not only inflicting a massive and permanent financial burden but also irrevocably damaging the Museum's, cultural identity and function as an integrated collections and research institution. Rather than responding to a planetary emergency, the Museum is tragically descending into irrelevance.

Es un “trabajo en progreso” compartido con un grupo específico como una introducción al enfoque de Transition Design y su conjunto de herramientas emergentes para abordar “problemas perversos” y no debe considerarse una investigación concluyente. El emprendimiento suele ser considerado una forma de alcanzar el éxito económico a través del esfuerzo individual, sin la necesidad de depender de terceros. Gran parte de la literatura académica sobre este fenómeno se concentra en destacar positivamente algunas de sus dimensiones, principalmente los beneficios y oportunidades que traería para los individuos y para las economías de modo general. Así, en este artículo se discute sobre las condiciones de los emprendedores en lo que se ha venido denominando como “Industria 4.0” tanto en Brasil como en Chile, dos ejemplos paradigmáticos de la región. Al contrario de lo que la mayoría de los estudios pregonan, se observa que, para el caso latinoamericano, el emprendimiento es una estrategia de sobrevivencia de la clase trabajadora, al mismo tiempo que la difusión de las tecnologías dentro de él es baja. La metodología del estudio es de tipo cuantitativo, en donde se trabaja con fuentes secundarias de las principales encuestas sobre emprendimiento que existen tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.

RESUMEN
El presente trabajo se inscribe en el marco de una estancia de trabajo realizada por uno de los
integrantes del grupo de investigación Educación, Sociedad y Tiempo Libre, en la Facultad de
Cultura Física de la Universidad de Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, entre los meses de enero y febrero del
año 2022. Durante dicha estancia se llevaron a cabo diversos registros fotográficos y escritos
sobre los juegos y juguetes practicados y usados por las niñas y niños en Cuba. En este
contexto, se intercambió con niñas, niños y adultos que se encontraban en situación de juego
procurando conocer y comprender las prácticas que se llevaban adelante.
Este carácter de extranjería nos permitió acercarnos a otras realidades de los juegos y juguetes
contemporáneos y, en este sentido, no únicamente reconocer las similitudes y diferencias
respecto de los contextos estudiados sino, al mismo tiempo, extrañarnos de aquello que nos es
cotidiano, desnaturalizando las características estudiadas en contexto uruguayo. En este
sentido, el trabajo se vincula a la investigación Juegos y juguetes en Uruguay desarrollada entre
2019 y 2023 que contó con el apoyo y financiación de la Comisión Sectorial de Investigación
Científica de la Universidad de la República, Uruguay.
Durante el período de estancia en Cuba también se visitaron varias tiendas de juguetes en las
que se produjo un registro fotográfico y se dialogó con los responsables de estos comercios. Si
bien el registro se centró en la ciudad de Sancti Spíritus, también se desarrollaron y
documentaron observaciones en las ciudades de La Habana, Guanabo, Matanzas, Varadero,
Trinidad, Ciego de Ávila, Santa Clara y Holguín. A partir del trabajo de campo realizado se
buscará dar cuenta de cuáles son las características de los juguetes en Cuba, cuáles son sus
condiciones de producción, qué implicancias tienen para reflexionar sobre la cultura lúdica
infantil y la producción de la infancia.
Partimos de considerar que el juego y los juguetes son elementos culturales que, al
proporcionar estabilidad al mundo de los niños, contribuyen a su inserción en el mundo adulto
existente facilitando la incorporación progresiva de las nuevas generaciones.

El siguiente documento tiene como objetivo proporcionar algo de la historia y la teoría del diseño que se está utilizando en la Escuela de Diseño de la Universidad Carnegie Mellon en su esfuerzo por constituir la práctica del Diseño para la Transición. Explica cómo la profesión y la disciplina del diseño están experimentando una rápida expansión y transformación que permiten un rico conjunto de marcos para el Diseño para la Transición. Este artículo argumenta que los diseñadores no solo pueden y deben aprender de los estudios para la transición, sino que el diseño puede contribuir recíprocamente a través de nuevos enfoques para enmarcar problemas relacionados con el cambio sociotécnico dentro del contexto de ecosistemas complejos.

En la vida del ser humano los alimentos son de gran importancia para su desarrollo, pero más aún es poder consumirlos con seguridad. La legislación, el manejo adecuado dentro de la cadena agroalimentaria, el desarrollo de modelos de inspección, sistemas de evaluación de riesgos, validación y predicción, así como la investigación, capacitación y educación, son herramientas que permiten garantizar que el consumidor reciba alimentos saludables y en condiciones idóneas. Este Simposio se ha planteado con el propósito de divulgar los avances que se tienen en las diferentes áreas relacionadas, teniendo en cuenta que los temas de calidad e inocuidad están en continuo desarrollo y es necesario conocerlos para aplicar lo mejor de ellos en empresas, proyectos y actividades involucradas en la producción de alimentos dentro de la cadena agroalimentaria. La responsabilidad para los profesionales del sector alimentos en el tema de inocuidad es y debe ser una prioridad, y las oportunidades de aplicar sus conocimientos en la producción de alimentos son infinitas cuando su meta es producir alimentos sanos y seguros para la comunidad.
