This article addresses the formation of the scientific field of the Critical Race Theory - CRT, d... more This article addresses the formation of the scientific field of the Critical Race Theory - CRT, discussing its origin, in a double perspective, its ideological and social trajectory. Subsequently, the main themes of CRT are presented, with the objective of identifying their proximity to the Brazilian theoretical framework on race relations, and the possible use of the proposed methodologies and concepts in the national context. This paper concludes exploring two possibilities: the use of the TCR to think the Brazilian reality, in order to contribute to a thorough analysis of racism; and the reconstruction of a broader genealogy of a critical theory of race within the legal sciences in view of the contributions of Brazilian intellectuals.
