The adolescents are exposed to an expanding array of media that carry messages that shape their judgments and behaviour. Parents, however, need to be able to monitor what the adolescents access in the internet so as not be criminal intended. There is hardly anything you do now a day in terms of admission to university, polytechnics and bank transactions that one would not need to be connected to the internet. To this end, adolescents need to be closely monitored and be careful what they do on the internet. What they do is expected to be purposeful and meaningful.

The study examined the issue of rehabilitating the juvenile delinquents in order to bring peace and development to the various communities. The study employed a surveys study design. The population consisted of young male and female members of Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo state. A sample of 90 subjects was used for the study. Data collected were subjected to simple frequency count and percentages Chi-square statistical tool was used for the analysis of the hypotheses.The study revealed that juvenile delinquency is a social menace that could lead to social disorder and which does not augur well for the development of communities. Based on the findings, it is recommended that parents, government, non-governmental organizations should make efforts at rehabilitating the deviant youth so that they would be useful to themselves as well as help build a formidable community.

The purpose of the study was to find out the perception of working mothers on the cognitive and social development of children in daycare in Ado-Ekiti. The study employed the descriptive research of the survey type. The population was all working mothers in all day care centers in Ado-Ekiti while the sample consisted of 200 working mothers purposively selected from 10 day daycare centers. A self-structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. Two research questions were raised and the data generated were analysed using simple percentages and chi-square. Findings from the study showed that working mothers agreed there are cognitive and social development of children who attend daycare, although few mothers indicated that their children exhibit negative behaviour. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended among others that government, working establishments and private companies should establish daycare centers for staff, which are likely to produce high quality environment in which children can thrive. Also, good daycare centers should be provided for a child to enhance good behavior both at home and in school.

This paper examines in-school adolescents and career choices in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The sample consists of two hundred randomly selected parents and in-school adolescents from four local government areas in Ekiti State. Two hypotheses were generated and tested at 0.05 level of significance using t-test statistical analysis. The results showed that there were no significant differences between parental influence, as well as gender influence of in-school adolescents in choice of career. The paper concludes that parents need to give adequate career information to their adolescents and have positive job values. Also, females need to decide whether to start their family first or settle on a career and start their family later.

Objective: To ascertain that standard antenatal care (Focused antenatal care) is being received at the Primary Health Care level in urban and rural areas of Ekiti State and to determine the facilitating factors and challenges to the practice of FANC in urban and rural areas. Design: Cross sectional. Setting: Primary Health Centers Participants: Pregnant women and Heads of health facilities. Methods: Two hundred respondents each from urban and rural areas primary health centres were proportionately selected from 18 primary health centers using simple random sampling. Exit interviews were conducted using the antenatal care exit interview form of the Safe Motherhood Needs Assessment package. In-depth Interviews were conducted with the heads of selected facilities. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and Chi square test and content analysis for indepth interview. Results: More respondents 58 (29.3%) from the urban areas had the minimum contents compared to 41 (20.7%) of the rural respondents (p < 0.05) and 178 (90.8%) of the urban were taught a range of health education topics compared to 177 (88.5%) (p = 0.45). Urban respondents were about 1.6 times more likely to receive the minimum contents than rural respondents. In-depth interview results explicated the facilitating factors and challenges to focused antenatal care in the study areas. Conclusion: The findings of this study is consistent with other studies establishing the fact that better health service is available to urban residents than rural residents; however, this study has succeeded in comparing the documented standard of antenatal care with what was being practiced in the selected PHCs of the state. The basic contents of focused antenatal care in Ekiti state were received by a small proportion of the respondents, suggesting that focused antenatal care had not fully translated into quality service; one major challenge to the delivery of standard antenatal care was inadequate number of skilled health workers especially in the rural areas. The gap between quality and utilisation of antenatal in urban and rural areas is gradually being closed up; this success should be improved upon and maintained.

The issue of ethnic conflict in Nigeria has become a burning national issue with its attendant problems. Its current predominance is reflected in the reports of various activities of ethnic militant in the country coupled with the high rising terrorism activities in the northern part of the country from which the traces of ethnicity problem cannot be totally ruled out. However, the issue now nationwide is no longer the recognition of ethnic conflict and its increasing threats to lives and properties but on how to curtail and manage it so that both human and material resources being used for such activities can be geared towards bringing about sustainable development in all spheres of life. The problem could best be tackled through deliberate and sincere efforts to change the behaviour and attitudes of the people to become their brothers' keeper and tolerate one another. This could best be achieved upon the teaching of peace education in the schools. Therefore, this paper discusses ethnic conflict, reviews its trends and management and finally highlights the strategy for ethnic conflict resolution and management in Nigeria.

The rate at which social values are being eroded in recent time among the university undergraduates in Nigeria is very alarming. The position of their parents' wellness and economic power are pointers to values erosion and compliance. Morality has degenerated globally, with particular reference to university undergraduates in southwest Nigeria. This calls for concern and urgent attention to ameliorate the upsurge. The study adopted a descriptive research design of the survey type. The population consisted of all university undergraduates in both public and private universities in southwest Nigeria. The sample size consisted of 1,581 undergraduates; they were selected using multistage sampling procedure. An instrument tagged "Values Awareness and Compliance Questionnaire" (VACQ) was used to collect data for the study. Cronbach's Alpha reliability Coefficient Analysis was used to determine the reliability coefficient which stood at 0.92 after the face and content validity had been ensured by experts in Social Studies, Sociology, and Tests, Measurement and Evaluation. The data collected were analysed using ANOVA and t-test analyses. The three hypotheses generated were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that socioeconomic status of parents did not significantly influence university undergraduates' social values however, the socioeconomic status of parents significantly influenced university undergraduates' sexual morality. Based on the results, it was recommended that the proprietors of private universities should identify the reasons behind the problems of undergraduates' values degradations and parents of university undergraduates should not use their bad past experiences and present affluence living to jeopardize the inculcation of right values to their wards as regards compliance and assist them to desist from sexual immorality.

The purpose of this study was to examine home background and social value system as predictor for increase in social vices among the youths in Ekiti State, Nigeria. One thousand youths were randomly selected from two senatorial districts, out of the three senatorial districts in the state (south and central) and two hundred and fifty youths were selected from two local government areas from each of the two senatorial districts. The instrument used to collect data was questionnaire and content validity was used to validate the instrument. Also, the reliability coefficient obtained was 0.78 which was obtained through the test-retest method which was administered on 100 youths outside the four local government areas. Data collected were analysed using regression analysis. Findings of the study showed that home background and social value system can predict effectively the involvement of the youths in social vices. The paper therefore concluded that the involvement of youths in social vices could be curbed if people could change their orientation on the way they celebrate success in the society not minding how the individual came about his/her sudden wealth and riches. It is therefore recommended that parents should be more watchful, monitor, control and counsel their wards rightly and if possible reprimand their children for wrong doings to bring the best out of them.

This paper examined the role of religion in the development of good moral sexual behaviours among University Undergraduates. In Nigeria, sex issues are considered as sacred and usually attached with a myth, however, observations have shown in recent times that these good virtues have been eroded among university undergraduates in Southwest, Nigeria. These category of students now exhibit unwholesome sexual behaviours such as lesbianism, homosexuality, adultery, indecent dressing, masturbation among others and this is considered a serious threat to national development.
