These results do not necessarily mean that these specific regions were the sole source of sntr, or exclude the Lebanon or some other area of the northern Lev- ant as a source utilized during the Middle King- dom. However, other New Kingdom (NK) sources do refer to the generic Rtnw as the source of sntr (Knapp 1991, 35; Artzy 1994, 131-132; WACHS- MANN 1998, 308). Thus, it is instructive that at the height of NK Egyptian economic and _ political power, the source of this prized incense for both the Uluburun wreck and Amarna is in the south- ern, rather than northern, Levant.
