The evolution of ambient intelligence systems has allowed for the development of adaptable systems. These systems trace user's habits in an automatic way and act accordingly, resulting in a context aware system. The goal is to make these systems adaptable to the user's environment, without the need for their direct interaction. This paper proposes a system that can learn from users' behavior. In order for the system to perform effectively, an adaptable multi agent system is proposed and the results are compared with the use of several classifiers.

This new model of an agent is integrated within the PANGEA (Platform for the Automatic Construction of Organiztions of Intelligent Agents) platform, an organizational-based platform, defining a new sensor role in the system and aimed at providing contextual information and interacting with the environment. A case study was developed over the PANGEA platform and designed using different agents and sensors responsible for providing user support at home in the event of incidents or emergencies. The system presented in the case study incorporates agents in Arduino hardware devices with recognition modules and illuminated bands; it also incorporates IP cameras programmed for automatic tracking, which can connect remotely in the event of emergencies. The user wears a bracelet, which contains a simple vibration sensor that can receive notifications about the emergency situation.

Vidya is a strategy computer game, god-style, that can be seen as a rich environment where virtual beings compete among themselves for natural resources and strive within the artificial ecosystem. Although in this game the player cannot directly control the intelligent agents, he can give some intuitions to them. Together with these intuitions the agents, called Jivas-the most developed species of the ecosystem, devise actions through evolutionary computation. The game allows also the observation of all interactions among the various beings inhabiting Vidya. Interactions happen in a quasi-autonomous manner which grants the game with an interesting dynamics. The evolved Jiva's intelligence, which build-up during the game, can be reused in other game scenarios. This work might help on further understanding of some emergent autonomous behaviors and parameterization of intelligent agents that live in closely coupled ecosystems.

This paper presents a technological platform aimed at obtaining an online workspace for exchanging digital contents in an easy, intuitive and accessible manner. The main objective of the platform is to provide facilities to inform, train and evaluate the competencies of disabled people, and more specifically those skills required to facilitate the labor integration of individuals with auditory disabilities. The platform also focuses on providing training processes that facilitate the incorporation of disabled people to labor environments. The platform presented in this paper has been tested in a real environment and the results obtained are promising.

The prototype has been developed using a new agent platform called PANGEA, which facilitates the design and implementation of open MAS. To avoid shrinking down the performance and preserve energy, low-end mobile devices can collaborate with the nearby ones by offloading computation intensive code. However, despite the long research history, code offloading is dilatory and unfit for applications that require rapidly consecutive requests per short period. Even though Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is apparently one possible approach that can address this problem, the RPC-based or message queue-based techniques are obsolete or unwieldy for mobile platforms. Entry control is an important issue for security and optimization reasons. Input sensors based on biometrics and intelligent methods that learn from experience are used to recognize terrorists or simply to detect an unusual behavior of regular stuff. We have designed and developed an intelligent entry system consisting of four independent modules: expert system, micro learning, macro learning and camera. In the experimental set-up, there are four input sensors: a door sensor, an identity card reader, a fingerprint reader and a camera. Each of the four modules produces an explanation that categorizes an event as alarm or normal, and the system proposes the final suggestion with explanation. Practical applications of multi-agent systems have acquired a growing relevance during last years. This kind of system is based on distributed artificial intelligence and they pay special attention to organizational concepts, This allows a more realistic design of artificial societies. In this paper, we are presenting a multi-agent system based on virtual organizations, which has been specially designed to model a Purchase Porter System aimed at helping clients of shops to transport their shopping. The system establish agreements to transport shopping to the more appropriated exists for the client. The system has been tested in a simulated environment and the initial results are promising.

This paper presents a system composed by a set of tools that facilitate
the work of disabled people in their work environment. The PANGEA platform
was used to build the base architecture of the system, where each tool is designed
as a collection of intelligent agents that offer the services as Web-services. Moreover,
all the system is implemented as an Open MAS. In this paper two tools are
presented in detail, the proximity detection tool and the translator tool for people
with hearing impairments.

This paper presents a prototype for adapting workplaces for disabled people. The e↵ective integration of people with disabilities in the workplace is a huge challenge to society, and it presents an opportunity to make use of new technologies. The project, called AZTECA, aims to develop new tools that contribute to the employment of groups of people with visual, hearing or motor disabilities in o ce environments. These di↵erent tools for the disabled people have been modelled with intelligent agents that use Web services. These agents are implemented and deployed within the PANGEA platform so that PANGEA conforms the skeleton of the system and allows developing an integrated system. The main target of the prototype presented in this paper is the people detection using ZigBee technology and the personalization of the workplace according to the users disability.
