Spiritual Communication

This essay has as its purpose to outline the conceptual structure upon which we can detail the items, entities, relationships, and field interactions by which God the Heavenly Parent and Creator imbued with the Universal Parental Heart from the very beginning in a transcendental conceptual realm could bring about our material universe and also interact with it constructively, dynamically, and purposefully.

Since 1998, the National Inpatient Priority Index rankedemotional and spiritual needs as the patient's second priority. In the healthcare sector, nurses provide health care services to different clients which can resultin compassion fatigue. The resilience of nurses helps to provide control of compassion fatigue.The purpose of this study is to examine if there is a relationship between resilience andcompassion fatigue and also find a significant difference in resilience and compassion fatiguein terms of sex, age, and clinical experience. Correlational research design was utilized where249 registered nurses were conveniently sampled from Ghana. This paper looks at the Craig’s seven traditions, their influence on the field of communication theories and the shortcomings of Craig’s metatheory. This paper mainly answers six questions: why communication theory needs a metatheory? How many metatheories have been developed so far? What are the Craig’s seven traditions of communication? What did Craig accomplish by developing this metamodel? Why Craig’s metatheory failed to achieve its desired goals? And what is the future of Craig’s seven traditions? First part of the paper answers the first four questions and the second part of the paper answers the fifth question by engaging the grammar of Craig’s model and challenging it by exploring conflict theories that do not fit into Craig’s seven traditions. The third part of this paper identifies future challenges for the Craig’s seven traditions in the light of the conflict theories to provide a solution for those challenges.

This article studies the Mamuat ritual (the spirit communication) among Thai-Khmer people in Thailand, a traditional belief passed down from Khmer ancestors to communize with the sacred spirits and other healing spirits. The ritual’s purpose is to treat and diagnose causes of illness and request protection from supernational power or the holy spirit, based on traditional belief of Thai-Khmer people, The culturally disfranchised identity of the Thai-Khmer people in a specific area and ethnic group are shown by ritual procedure, method, and process to be an endemic part of the ethnic and cultural identity of Thai-Khmer people in the kingdom of Thailand.

Scientific and naturalistic assumptions dominate the field of communication theory, making theoretical engagement with spiritual modes of communication difficult. Current models of spiritual communication fail to elaborate on how, exactly, researchers from different traditions can engage with this new tradition. This study uses Craig's (1999) constitutive metamodel to create a model of the Spiritual Tradition of communication theory, which views communication as mimetic of the atemporal. Situating the Spiritual Tradition within the metamodel will allow researchers to understand better the dialogical/dialectical tension created by different understandings of communication.

In "Communication Theory as a Field" , I envisioned a forum in which to deliberate about the practical implications of communication theories. I took as a working hypothesis that all theories about communication, whatever their disciplinary origins or underlying assumptions, do have practical implications and therefore are potentially relevant to such a field. Each theory provides a specific conceptual vocabulary with which to constitute communication problems and practices as objects of reflection. Each theory draws upon certain commonsense beliefs about communication (metadiscursive commonplaces) while challenging other such beliefs. Thus, each theory potentially can be incorporated into practical metadiscourse (the ordinary metatalk that goes on continually throughout society) as a resource for articulating and challenging ideas about communication that become relevant in particular situations. Theories agree and disagree with each other according to the metadiscursive commonplaces that each relies upon and challenges. Debate within the field (theoretical metadiscourse) can focus on these points of agreement and disagreement in order to weigh the relative merits of different theories as resources for practical metadiscourse. To illustrate the approach and provide a starting point for further discussion, I showed how seven major traditions of communication theory across the field can be arrayed in a matrix that highlights practical implications of each tradition and key issues among the traditions. Implicit in the above, and further elaborated in , are two principles. The first, which I called the constitutive metamodel, holds that different theoretical vocabularies constitute (or model) communication differently for practical purposes. Rhetorical theory, for example, typically constitutes communication as a practical art requiring skill and good judgment, whereas phenomenology constitutes communication as an experience of dialogue requiring openness and authenticity. This essay proposes a Pragmatic Metamodel of Communication (PMC) for expanding the practical role of metatheory (a theory of theories), conceived here as a useful tool for directly analyzing interpersonal interactions. Traditionally, metatheory has been used in an epistemological way (e.g., for the organization of knowledge) rather than in a practical way. However, starting from the traditions of thought proposed by Craig in his article Communication theory as a field, this essay argues and illustrates that metatheory can also be useful for making direct analysis of communication and enriching, at the same time, our understanding of communicative conflicts. This challenge is answered by the PMC, a (meta)model articulated on three levels: culture (shared values), dialectical tensions (contradictions that are primary forces in relationships) and metacommunication (talk about communication)
