В течение почти двадцати лет в городе на Неве, в помещениях,
находившихся в ведении Государственной публичной библиотеки
(ныне Российская национальная библиотека), хранились трофейные
архивные документы и библиотечные рукописи из немецких горо-
дов Гамбурга, Любека и Бремена, вывезенные в составе эшелона,
груженого в основном печатными книгами. Материалы из этих трех
ганзейских городов, относившихся к оккупационным зонам союз-

ников, оказались в распоряжении советских властей, поскольку во
время войны были эвакуированы немцами на территорию будущей
ГДР. Впоследствии они были переданы в Москву и спустя еще бо-
лее двух десятилетий возвращены в Германию по обмену. Изучение
«ленинградского двадцатилетия» в судьбе ганзейских трофейных
ценностей важно отнюдь не только как сугубо архивоведческий
сюжет. Детальное рассмотрение подобного казуса проливает свет и
на более общие вопросы, связанные с трофейной политикой совет-
ских властей: был ли вывоз культурных ценностей из Германии чет-
ко продуман от начала до конца, насколько были скоординированы
действия различных органов, каковы были цели вывоза ценностей
(в нашем случае, библиотечного и архивного плана)? В результате
проведенного исследования было выявлено, что процесс вывоза и
распределения ганзейских рукописных фондов был в значительной
степени спонтанной акцией: в последний момент их отправили в
Ленинград, а не в Москву, как предполагалось изначально, и сдела-
но это было без четкой согласованности действий с принимающей
организацией, которая вынуждена была долгое время держать особо
ценные фонды в недостаточно хороших условиях. Вследствие этого,
когда архивы ганзейских городов как непрофильные для библиоте-
ки после долгих стараний удалось передать в архивные структуры,
ГПБ заодно избавилась и от перемешанных с ними библиотечными
рукописями, не желая оставлять их на хранении

Учебное пособие по истории Русского Зарубежья предназначено для студентов высших учебных заведений, обучающихся по гуманитарным направлениям и специальностям. Оно содержит теоретические и практические материалы, необходимые для освоения дисциплины «История Русского Зарубежья», а также теоретический материал для изучения истории русской эмиграции. Рассмотрены исторические аспекты начала формирования Русского Зарубежья, а также численность, социальный состав, расселение и основные политические течения русской эмиграции. Отдельно рассмотрена культурная жизнь русской эмиграции.

The war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine has provoked, among its many consequences, a profound crisis in the perception of Russian culture. In the past three years, the question of whether Russian literature, philosophy, and art should continue to be celebrated in the West has acquired an unprecedented urgency. Concerts have been canceled, authors removed from reading lists, exhibitions postponed or reframed. Even the mere presence of canonical figures-Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Tchaikovskyhas become, in some circles, a source of discomfort or outrage. This phenomenon, often labeled the "canceling" of Russian culture, is not without precedent: history is replete with examples of cultures and traditions becoming collateral damage in geopolitical conflicts. Yet the logic behind such measures often collapses under its own weight. To hold a work of art or a philosophical text responsible for the political crimes of a state is to confuse the realm of cultural expression with the machinery of political power. It risks treating complex intellectual legacies as mere instruments of propaganda-either to be celebrated uncritically or rejected wholesale-when, in fact, they demand something more difficult and more productive: a critical engagement. The absurdity of canceling a culture, any culture, lies in the very nature of culture itself. Culture is, at its best, a realm of human creativity that transcends the narrowness of borders and the brutality of political expediency. It builds bridges across time, language, and nations; it opens channels of communication that no government, however repressive, can entirely control. To cancel Russian culture would be to sever lines of dialogue at precisely the moment when understanding-deep, critical, historically informed understanding-is most needed. Yet the alternative is not a passive or nostalgic embrace of Russian thought as if nothing has happened. Within Russia itself, the literary and philosophical canon has long been woven into the fabric of national self-identity-appropriated, at times aggressively, as a source of political legitimacy. Schoolchildren are taught to revere "our Pushkin" and "our Tolstoy" not only as literary geniuses, but as symbols of a unique civilizational mission; philosophers such as Solovyov, Berdyaev, and Ilyin are invoked in official discourse as if they were timeless custodians of Russian values. Книги «Первые встречи» (1909) и «Orientalia» (1913–1922) рассматриваются в социокультурном контексте эпохи, прослеживается, как социальные характеристики автора (гендерная и национальная принадлежность) становятся определяющими в оценке критиков и как эти оценки меняются под влиянием политических и идеологических факторов.

Впервые на русском языке публикуются целиком дневниковые
записи великой княгини Ксении Александровны с 23 ноября/6 декабря 1917 г. по 27 февраля/11 марта 1918 г., сделанные ею под домашним арестом в Крыму в имениях Ай-Тодор и Дюльбер. Документы с 2017 г. хранятся в Государственном архиве Российской Федерации. Записи Ксении Александровны этого периода содержат подробности повседневной жизни представителей императорской семьи во время установления советской власти на Крымском полуострове, описывают их отношение к происходящим вокруг событиям, раскрывают неизвестные ранее факты и вносят уточнения в трагические страницы постреволюционной истории
дома Романовых.

The article is devoted to the little-studied activity of the famous Moscow pastor Archpriest Alexander Pavlovich Smirnov as Rector of the Moscow Theological Schools (1949–1950). Mitred Archpriest A. P. Smirnov (1888–1950) was one of the closest aides of Patriarch Sergius (Stragorodsky) and Patriarch Alexy I (Simansky) in the 1940s. In the last period of his life Fr. Alexander headed the Moscow Theological Schools. For the theological school, it was a time of formation and development within the walls of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, and the rector's work continued the best endeavors of his predecessors. The main sources for the article were little-studied archival materials that preserved information about the life of Moscow theological schools of that time: minutes of meetings of the Academic Council of the Academy and Seminary, annual reports and personal files of teachers. The determining source was the personal file of Fr. A. P. Smirnov, kept in the archives of the Moscow Theological Academy, on the basis of which it was possible to learn the details of his early biography and activities at the Academy. Based on a comparative method of studying archival data, memoirs of contemporaries, and other sources, the article attempts to reconstruct the fullest possible picture of Fr. A. P. Smirnov’s activities as rector of the Moscow Theological Schools.

The purpose of the article is to establish the circumstances of awarding the degree of Doctor of theology (honoris causa) to Metropolitan Bartholomew (Gorodtsov) in 1951, the first governor of the Novosibirsk and Barnaul diocese in the post-war history of Siberia. Using methods of historical research, such as the method of comparative analysis, which involves comparing different types of sources, which contributes to a more complete disclosure of the topic, as well as the empirical method, involving a wide range of sources and literature, the following results were achieved. It turned out that Sergiy Gorodtsov (the future Metropolitan Bartholomew) graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy in 1890 with a PhD in theology, two decades later in 1914 he prepared a dissertation for a master's degree in theology, but its consideration was initially postponed, and later did not take place due to well-known events. In 1951, the theological works of Metropolitan Bartholomew (Gorodtsov) were appreciated, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of theology (honoris causa), not for a separate dissertation study, but for a set of scientific works.

Based on a quantitative analysis of the publishing repertoires that produced Russianlanguage literature in Europe between 1920 and 1939, this article examines the children’s book market. Children’s literature exhibited a hierarchy of genres and writers, dominated by the fairy tale genre and two leading authors in this field — Alexander Pushkin and Hans Christian Andersen. The fairy tale emerged as the leading genre, driven by aesthetic, pedagogical, and pragmatic goals. Despite the substantial number of texts and critics’ attention to new children’s authors, émigré children’s literature continued to be regarded as a lower-tier genre, and the status of the children’s writer remained precarious within the literary community. As a result, children were offered canonical texts and folkloric imagery traditionally associated with the essence of the people. The reissuing of works by classic authors and canonical texts of Russian literature formed the cornerstone for transmitting and preserving national cultural traditions and shaping the national identity of children in emigration.

The present article explores a significant stage in the publication history of the Ossetian- Russian-German dictionary, a landmark lexicographical work on the Ossetian language compiled by Academician Vsevolod Fedorovich Miller. Special emphasis is placed on the role of Ossetian public figure and émigré Georgy (Gappo) Vasilievich Baev, who was actively engaged in the preliminary work on the dictionary during Miller’s lifetime and later sought to arrange its publication at Yevgeny Aleksandrovich Gutnov’s Ossetian printing house in Berlin. A key source for this study is the preserved correspondence between Baev and the Academician’s widow, Evgeniya Viktorovna Miller, which illuminates the stringent conditions imposed by the USSR Academy of Sciences: the retention of all rights by the Academy, a prohibition of any editorial modifications without its explicit approval, and the requirement that only a copy of the manuscript be submitted to the printing house. These conditions proved unacceptable to Baev and ultimately led to the failure of the Berlin publishing initiative. The aforementioned correspondence, along with related documents from the 1920s, is published in the appendix based on materials from Baev’s personal archive, held at the Berlin State Library. The texts presented contribute to a deeper understanding of the complex and little-known episode in the history of the Ossetian-Russian-German dictionary, which remained unpublished for many years in the Asiatic Museum. They also support the hypothesis that it was Baev’s initiative that rekindled scholarly interest in the dictionary within the USSR, which resulted in its eventual publication under the editorship of Academician Aleksandr Arnoldovich Freiman. By examining the history of the dictionary through the lens of personal correspondence, the article highlights the significant role played by the Ossetian diaspora and G. Baev himself in preserving and promoting national cultural heritage, despite the challenging conditions of political emigration and institutional constraints.

Konstantin Nikolayeviç Leontyev (1831-1891), Rus düşünce tarihinin çok yönlü isimlerinden biridir. Çok yönlülük; genel olarak edebiyat ve felsefenin, sosyolojik ve politik sorunlarla biçimlendiği Rusya gerçekliği bağlamında yaygın bir olgudur. Ne var ki Leontyev'in çok yönlülüğü Türkiye'de her ne kadar yeterince bilinmese de çağdaşlarının ötesine geçer. Esas mesleği doktorluk olan Leontyev, tıp biliminden yola çıkarak tüm canlıların organik yaşam yasası üzerinde çalışan ve bu yasayı medeniyetlerin kültür ve devlet yapılarına uygulayan bir tarih filozofudur. Rus düşüncesinde muhafazakâr eğilimi temsil eden Leontyev, Batıcı düşünceleri, liberal gelişme anlayışını sert bir biçimde eleştirerek diplomatlık görevi boyunca edindiği deneyimlerle Yunan, Bulgar ve Türk halklarına yaklaşımı bağlamında Panslavizme karşı çıkan bir siyaset bilimci, Varşova Günlüğü dergisinin editörü ve yayıncısı olarak da polemiklerden kaçmayan entelektüeller arasındadır. This research comments on the three-person correspondence between the Russian writer Ivan Bunin, the Bulgarian professor of Slavic literature Boyan Penev, and Penev's wife-the poetess Dora Gabe. Emigrating from Russia, Bunin stayed in Sofia for 18 days between February and March 1920. During this period, he personally met the Penev family. Acquainted with Bunin's work, prof. Penev made every effort to support the writer and showed him academic socialization by inviting Bunin to work as a "professor" of "new Russian literature" at Sofia University. However, while the procedure for the approval of the Russian émigré scholar was in progress, Bunin left Sofia for Belgrade and then Paris. He never returned to Sofia to take up the chair offered to him. From Paris, Bunin sent to Boyan Penev two letters, kept in the Scientific Archives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and published long ago, in which he explained the circumstances that led to his decision. Until now Bulgarian literary scholars have believed that Penev reacted to these letters with silence. During archival searches, however, letters in reply to Bunin were found. They were written by the poetess Dora Gabe, who responded to Bunin "instead of" her husband. These documents are kept in the I. A. Bunin Collection of the Leeds Russian Archive (University of Leeds). Written in the first-person plural, these missives contain a general impression of Bunin but also reveal Penev's opinion about Bunin's decision. Хронологические рамки документов охватывают вторую половину 1930-х гг. и связаны с двумя белорусскими населенными пунктами: местечком Мир и местечком Пружаны. Материалы частной переписки позволяют воссоздать довоенную картину жизни их владельцев: Святополк-Мирских и Шебеко.

The method we apply to the examination of the symbolic concept of “transparency” in the poetry of Vyacheslav Ivanov (poems from all of the poet’s collections are used as material) can be called phenomenological: starting with “transparency” as the visibility/permeability of physical objects and empirically experienced states of the soul, we move on to “transparency” as a characteristic of the boundary between the material and ideal (in the Platonic sense) dimensions of the world, and from there to “Transparency” that has the quality of subjectivity and acts as a kind of “character” in Ivanov’s poetic mythology. In the latter case, we proceed from the understanding of a typically “Ivanov`s” symbol as a kind of crystalline prism, in which only one facet is always visible from one point of view, but all the other facets are simultaneously reflected in this facet. Thus, the image of “Transparency”, to which the lyrical subject addresses his speech in the poem of the same title, is clearly linked (or rather “interfered with”) by other feminine characters in Ivanov’s poetry – Earth, Night, Memory, “the soul of twilight”, etc. – although this “Transparency” remains nothing more than the permeability of the boundary between “realia” and “realiora”, elevated to the rank of a mythological subject. In addition, the article shows that even in the case where “transparency” refers to a property of a material object, this property/relationship itself is understood by Ivanov as symbolic, indicating a transcendental plane of reality, signifying the manifestation of the “noumenal” through the “phenomenal” and connected, as S. S. Averintsev noted, by a strictly “systemic” interdependence of individual images. Speaking about “transparency” in the sense of the open to view manifestation of the “higher” in the “lower”, we assumed that this concept (in particular, through the image of coal, “transformed into a diamond”) is quite applicable to the characteristics of art, as Ivanov understands it. Art is a mirror (cf. the poem “You, whose chisel, palette, lyre…”), which, following Yu. I. Levin, can be called “transparent”, because it reflects not the appearance, but the essence of things, allowing the “logos” of the phenomenon to manifest itself through its material form. Since true art, according to Ivanov, is “realistic symbolism”, it is “transparent” as if by definition, due to the fact that it operates with symbols, and a symbol is a form “through which reality flows”, which has become directly visible. The article, among other things, notes that the logic of the development of the multi-faceted symbol of “transparency” is subordinated to the original principle of Ivanov’s symbolism: the movement of “contemplation” from symbol to myth, when any more or less significant image tends to grow from the inanimate to the living, from an objective state to a subjective (although not necessarily personified).

The care of deaf-mute children involves multi-layered care, namely health, social and school care. Only the collaboration of experts from all fields led to setting up to the right direction for comprehensive care –new institutes were created, the procedures of work in teaching, communication and preventive care were unified. The aim of the paper is to introduce the reader on the basis of a historical analysis of primary and secondary sources the significant steps in the development and changes that led to the improvement of care for deaf-mute children in the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic, when the foundations of modern health and social care for the population were laid.

The article examines the use of untransliterated lexemes, idioms and phraseological combinations, quotations from monuments of classical literature, and reminiscences of ancient literature in the works of various genres written by the poet in different years; the expression of the Greek-Latin language culture in Kuzmin's poetics is clarified. The Greek and Latin inclusions perform not only structural and intertextual functions, but also enrich the content, filling the central images of the works with "eternal" semantics. Each of the considered expressions (Sine sole sileo, Victori Duci, et coetera, Θάλασσα, Ἄβραξας, Pax Romana, Fides Apostolica…, Orbis pictus, Natura naturans…, Ultima Thule) has a unique meaning: from metaphors of creativity and the image of a spiritual mentor to an erotic allusion, a symbol of secret knowledge, imperial myth, confessional motif and cultural memory. Kuzmin's sources of Greek and Latin phraseology included epic poems and lyrical texts written by ancient authors (Virgil, Horace), Greek historiography (Herodotus, Xenophon), idiomatic expressions assimilated from Latin in Russian poetic works (A. Fet, K. Balmont), as well as the Philosophical thesaurus of European thought of the New Age (B. Spinoza) based on the Latin lexis. Kuzmin's interest in antiquity was preserved throughout his creative path, as manifested in various forms and under various circumstances, and the Greek and Latin languages, along with the languages of modern Romanesque cultures, are the foundation of his language skills.

U radu se analiziraju ciljevi i delokrug koje su u politici jugoslovenske i bugarske države imale visokoškolske ustanove u Skoplju između dva svetska rata i tokom Drugog svetskog rata, na prostoru Vardarske Makedonije (Južne Srbije), na kojem su se intenzivno sukobljavali nacionalni, politički i propagandni interesi dveju zemalja. Namera je da se otkrije u kojoj meri je visoko školstvo imalo prosvetiteljsku ulogu u podizanju kulturno-prosvetnog nivoa lokalnog stanovništva (koji je bio izrazito nizak), a u kojoj meri se radilo o nacionalno-političkoj misiji i želji da se to stanovništvo asimiluje. U prvom delu teksta, kroz rad Filozofskog fakulteta u Skoplju (1920–1941), analizirana su pitanja postojanja srbizacije (jugoslavizacije) prostora Vardarske Makedonije. Drugi deo teksta govori o osnivanju i radu Univerziteta „Car Boris III“(1943-1944) i pokušaju bugarizacije preko ove ustanove. Članak je nastao na osnovu arhivske građe, objavljenih izvora i literature.

В статье с привлечением документов Апостольского архива Ватикана был рассмотрен ряд сюжетов, связанных с судьбой русских католиков в Европе. Особый интерес представляет деятельность И. М. Посновой, ставшей душой русских католиков в Бельгии. Первоначально работа Ирины Михайловны была направлена на оказание духовной поддержки перемещенным лицам, но далее, разрастаясь, оказалась связанной с судьбой всех русских католиков, находившихся в Европе и некоторых странах Латинской Америки. Начинания И.М. Посновой привлекали внимание Ватикана. Анализ документов показал, что члены курии интересовались деятельностью И.М. Посновой, финансово поддерживали ее и помогали в реализации отдельных начинаний. Ватикан оказал помощь не только издательскому центру в Бельгии, который наладил регулярную публикационную деятельность, но и большой группе русских паломников, прибывших в 1950 году в Рим на празднование очередного Святого года. Положительная оценка И.М. Посновой во многом была связана с поддержкой папой инициатив апостолата мирян. Паломничество оказалось важным событием по нескольким причинам. Помимо самого участия в Юбилее, русским католикам удалось организовать единое печатное издание «Русский католический вестник». Кроме этого, Папе Римскому Пию XII было предоставлено прошение с просьбой об исполнении пророчества в Фатиме, что и произошло в 1952 году.

The article presents an attempt to reconstruct one episode from the biography of the poet Boris Ryzhy in the context of the last year of his life — his only trip to Nizhny Novgorod. It took place in May 2000 (a year before his suicide) and was timed to coincide with the literary festival with the conference “Another Province”. The festival’s objectives included a revision of the state of contemporary literature and the position of authors in Russian regions at the end of the first post-Soviet decade; the issue of creative prospects of a “provincial” writer, resources and limitations imposed on his activities by geographical and socio-cultural remoteness from the capital’s literary process with its infrastructural advantages were problematized. The article shows that the festival’s issues were relevant for B. Ryzhy in the last year of his life; they concerned the pressing issue of planning for the near future: to stay in Yekaterinburg or to look for an opportunity to move to one of the capitals. A hypothesis has been put forward that the answer to this question — the decision to stay in his hometown — came to Ryzhy after his trip to Rotterdam (it took place a month after Nizhny Novgorod). For the reconstruction, recollections and photographs of festival participants were collected; the circumstances of the festival, its agents and approximate agenda, as well as details of Ryzhy’s stay in Nizhny Novgorod, including exact addresses in the city he visited (materials for possible literary excursions around the city) were clarified; newspaper and online periodical publications dedicated to the festival were identified. Specially analyzed were verbal portraits of Boris Ryzhy in Nizhny Novgorod, compiled by Sergei Kostyrko, Alexey Golitsyn, Kirill Kobrin, Dmitry Zernov, Maria Kuznetsova, as well as Ryzhy’s self-portrait in the setting of the Nizhny Novgorod festival from his prose “Rotterdam Diary”; conclusions were made about the poet's style of creative behavior and his psychological state in 2000.

This publication contains a translation and commentary on Jacques Goar’s notes on the epiclesis from his Euchologion (1647). The translation is accompanied by an introduction that places Goar’s text within the historical and polemical context of Graeco-Latin controversies on the moment of consecration, particularly the epiclesis debate at the Council of Florence (1439). Goar’s interpretation, rooted in the outcomes of the Florentine discussions, provides insights of historical and philological significance, alongside his theological reflections on the authorship and semantics of Byzantine liturgical anaphoras. The publication also explores the largely over-looked tradition of translating Goar’s notes into Slavonic and Russian, which had a profound impact on the liturgical and theological thought of the Russian Church. In the 17th century, Evfimiy Chudovskiy prepared the first Church Slavonic translation of selected notes, including commentary on the epiclesis, enriched with his own marginalia to address Moscow’s polemics on the moment of consecration. In the 18th century, Archbishop Veniamin (Krasnopevkov-Rumovsky) made a new translation, which became a key source for his seminal work Новая Скрижаль (‘New Tablet’). In the 1860s, Archpriest Leonid Petrov made an incomplete Russian translation of the Euchologion. These translations are an underexplored field that requires further scholarly attention

La Molly, le Clément, la Charlotte sombrent corps et biens ... 1814 Mars 1814, le balancier de l'histoire s'est renversé : une armée alliée est entrée en France et marche sur la capitale. Clément de Bode est à la tête d'une "Opolchenie" (milice) de Cosaques volontaires, composée de 35 officiers et de 599 hommes de troupe, organisés en un régiment de cavalerie portant son nom et payé sur ses fonds propres. Les Cosaques des armées alliées seront à l'origine d'une dangereuse réputation : "Si Napoléon avait pu disposer de Cosaques, il serait depuis longtemps empereur de Chine !..." Caracolant à la tête de ses troupes, Alexandre I er entre dans Paris [illustration ci-dessous]. L'apparition des Cosaques et leur installation en bivouac sur les Champs-Elysées soulève la stupéfaction. Parmi les officiers du tsar, Clément de Bode est également du voyage. Ayant pour un temps abandonné ses affaires de transport maritime, il sert son souverain avec honneur et distinction.

Si ses journaux intimes témoignent d'un incontestable talent littéraire, confirmé par d'autres ouvrages, tant en russe qu'en français - poèmes, romans, traductions littéraires - c'est indéniablement le journal de voyage qu'elle a tenu en 1810, à l'occasion d'un périple d'un mois avec son père, de Moscou à Saint-Pétersbourg qui reste en mémoire.
Intitulé d'une façon assez naïve "Mes notes quotidiennes pour m'en souvenir", rédigées par une jeune fille de 19 ans qui vient d'entrer dans le monde, ce texte manuscrit démontre une connaissance approfondie de la littérature, l'art, l'histoire, la mythologie, l'histoire sacrée ainsi qu'un sens esthétique avec lequel elle examine les différentes curiosités qu'elle découvre en compagnie de son père
et d'autres membres de sa famille.

This essay aims to outline a brief comparison between Rozanov's and Belyj's apocalyptic ideas from Angelo Maria Ripellino's point of view. Through The Art of the Preface and the Criticism of the Silver Age, Ripellino outlined an interpretative framework of the Russian apocalyptic phenomenon as a reaction to modernity. The apocalypse is interpreted as a combination of death and rebirth.

Il contributo è incentrato sull'analisi delle ragioni per cui in Italia nel corso degli anni '30 del Novecento si è assistito al proliferare di edizioni italiane delle opere della scrittrice russa dell'emigrazione Alja Rachmanova, testimone dei sanguinosi fatti che accompagnarono l'ascesa del potere bolscevico in Unione Sovietica

Questo lavoro si pone alcuni obiettivi. Il primo è quello di ricostruire la vita e l'opera di Alja Rachmanova (1898-1991), scrittrice russa dell'emigrazione che ha avuto il bizzarro destino di rimanere sino ad oggi pressoché sconosciuta in Russia non solo ai lettori, ma anche agli storici ed ai critici della letteratura russa. Eppure, negli anni Trenta del Novecento il suo nome era ampliamente noto in Europa: autrice di diari, romanzi, biografie, pamphlet politiciscritti in russo, ma pubblicati in traduzione tedesca e da questa vòlti in altre linguela Rachmanova divenne un caso editoriale: le vendite dei soli diari raggiunsero le 400.000 copie e le lingue della loro diffusione furono quattordici. 1 Complessivamente la Rachmanova è stata tradotta in venti lingue, ma al 2016 non esiste nessuna edizione russa di alcuna sua opera. Ad onta del successo editoriale di cui godette, raramente dizionari enciclopedici e storie della letteratura russa dedicano una voce o comunque uno spazio alla scrittrice, il cui nome è pressoché caduto nell'oblio. In questo lavoro cercherò di capire il perché. Sulla Rachmanova e sulla sua opera esiste un solo studio monografico in tedesco (2012) 2 , che è sostanzialmente una biografia senza alcuna pretesa e/o intento di fornire un'analisi critica dell'opera, né tantomeno una sua contestualizzazione nel panorama della letteratura russa dell'emigrazione. La letteratura critica sulla scrittrice è scarsissima e prevalentemente in tedesco, con rari contributi in russo e in francese che non si distinguono per ampiezza d'indagine, dato che concentrano l'attenzione su singoli aspetti dell'opera della scrittrice. Mio intento è fornire una prima monografia italiana sulla Rachmanova, integrata, dal punto di vista documentario, da dati d'archivio e da un'analisi, sia pure parziale, di alcuni aspetti salienti della sua opera. Pertanto il lavoro di ricerca si è basato soprattutto su materiale bibliografico in tedesco, anche perché, quando possibile, si è preferito assumere come fonte l'edizione Viaggio. L'ha respinto. Манускрипт. Triste. Ho smesso. Latteria. Lattaia. Così dopo lo scoppio della rivoluzione, nel 1917, i Djurjagin partono alla volta di Irkutsk ed hanno la relativa fortuna di assicurarsi un posto in un vagone insieme ad altre diciotto persone: le condizioni di trasporto sono disumane. Nel vagone è buio e non si respira; la luce del giorno riesce flebilmente a penetrare attraverso due piccole fessure; quando piove, l'acqua si infiltra bagnando i letti di fortuna, allestiti con cappotti e stracci. Il treno procede a metà della velocità che potrebbe sostenere, facendo lunghe soste in campo aperto che i passeggeri sfruttano per bere un po' d'acqua, per respirare aria fresca e seppellire i morti. Il viaggio copre una distanza di circa quattromila chilometri e dura ben sei settimane: il convoglio fa tappa ad Išim, Omsk e, attraversando la steppa di Barabinsk, Novosibirsk per giungere infine ad Irkutsk. Durante il viaggio, a causa delle inadeguate misure igieniche la madre di Alja contrae il tifo ed ha allucinazioni a causa della febbre alta. Sulle pareti delle stazioni nelle quali il treno si ferma sono appesi bigliettini: i profughi, compresi i Djurjagin, lasciano dei messaggi, nella speranza di riuscire a mettersi in contatto con i familiari di cui hanno perso traccia nel trambusto della fuga. Giunta finalmente ad Irkutsk, la famiglia Djurjagin viene alloggiata presso la casa di un ingegnere. Tra i profughi inizia ad aleggiare il quesito: perché siamo fuggiti? In fondo, il motivo è chiaro: tutti vivono in attesa dell'arrivo dei bianchi affinché la città, e la Russia, vengano liberate. Nonostante le incerte condizioni di vita, nel 1917 Alja decide subito di iscriversi all'università di Irkutsk presso la Facoltà di Lettere 31 . Non appena la famiglia sembra iniziare ad ambientarsi, Nikolaj viene trasferito ad Omsk. Qui i Djurjagin si trovano di nuovo costretti a vivere in un vagone ferroviario, infestato da cimici e pidocchi, al punto 31 Nei primi anni dalla sua fondazione, avvenuta nel 1918, l'Università di Irkutsk contava solamente due facoltà: quella di Lettere e quella di Giurisprudenza. 16 che la notte la gente preferisce dormire sotto i vagoni, tra le ruote del treno, piuttosto che rimanere in quei loculi infestati di parassiti. Oltre alle pessime condizioni igieniche, le 'cellule abitative' di fortuna non lasciano alcuno spazio all'intimità, le pareti sono sottilissime e tutti sentono tutto. Poiché i bolscevichi impongono a tutti i cittadini l'obbligo del lavoro, Alja si assicura un posto nella biblioteca universitaria. La nuova attività segna il suo destino: proprio nelle sale di questa biblioteca, Alja conosce ed entra gradualmente in confidenza con un ex prigioniero di guerra austriaco 32 , Arnulf von Hoyer, suo futuro marito. Il giovane si offre di insegnarle il tedesco, in cambio di qualche lezione di russo. L'intesa tra i due è immediata: Arnulf è ben determinato a conquistare la Rachmanova. La costante presenza dell'austriaco nella vita dei Djurjagin porta gioia e conforto in quei giorni cupi. Ecco le parole che la scrittrice dedica allo "straniero": Egli porta nella nostra triste vita un raggio di gioia e di calore, e noi gliene siamo tanto riconoscenti! Mi aiuta a spaccare la legna, suona il violino, ascolta cortesemente le lamentele e i racconti di mia madre. 33 Una volta raggiunta una maggiore confidenza con Arnulf, la Rachmanova progetta di affidargli il compito di portare in salvo in Occidente i suoi diari, ai quali con tanta costanza si dedica dall'età di sei anni, allorché l'austriaco decida di tornare in patria. Oggi, al Tedesco che torna in patria consegno il mio diario. Lo mando lontano, alla cieca, in un paese più libero, lo mando come un grido di disperazione dal paese della "libertà". 34 32 La Rachmanova nei suoi diari fa spesso riferimento ad Arnulf con l'appellativo di 'tedesco', sebbene questi sia austriaco. 33 Rachmanova A., Studenti, amore, Ceka e morte, cit., 1935 p. 377. This dissertation examines the balalaika and domra as material and sonic objects that have mediated cultural identity, transnational exchange, and community formation from their late imperial Russian origins to their adaptation in the United States. The term "queer" in the title draws on its early twentieth-century usage in American press to describe the balalaika and domra as strange, exotic, or incongruous within Western musical frameworks. By employing thing theory and material culture studies, this work reconsiders these instruments not merely as musical artifacts but as things that generate layered and shifting meanings across spatial and historical contexts. The dissertation traces the transformation of the balalaika and domra from peasant-associated instruments into urban concert instruments in late nineteenth-century St. Petersburg, where Vasilii Andreev's modernist project repositioned them as national symbols of Russia's imperial identity. Following the instruments' migration to the United States in the early 20th century, they became entangled in multiple diasporic narratives, spanning pre-revolutionary émigré orchestras, Cold War cultural diplomacy, and contemporary subcultural communities such as the Balalaika and Domra Association of America (BDAA). By integrating ethnomusicology, musicology, and historiography, this dissertation oSers new insights into the ways in which musical instruments participate in the negotiation of cultural heritage and transnational belonging. Their enduring presence reveals how musical instruments, as material objects, carry and reshape histories, identities, and aSective ties across shifting political and cultural landscapes.

Naděžda Filaretovna Melniková-Papoušková je podepsána pod velkým počtem prací a článků věnujících se ruské a české literatuře, rozmanitým formám lidového umění či postřehům ze života v sovětském Rusku ve 30. letech. Ani zdaleka však tento výčet témat nevystihuje šíři laických i odborných zájmů, kterým se během svého života věnovala. S jejím jménem se lze setkat v kontextu literárněkritických textů, dějin umění a divadla, folkloru či etnografie. Předkládaná monografie je vůbec prvním rozsáhlejším pokusem o reflexi života a díla ruské emigrantky Naděždy Filaretovny Melnikové-Papouškové v kontextu česko-ruských kulturních vztahů. Výklad sleduje především proměny autorčiny tvorby a činnosti zachycené na pozadí měnících se geografických a kulturních prostředí či historických událostí.

Конференция " Русский Харбин и П ерм ь" посвящена 100-летию со дня основания Х арби на. Г о р о д был заложен в мае 1898 года, когда началось строительство Китайской Восточной железной дороги. Тема конференции может показаться неожиданной: история Харбина известна далеко не каждому. Э тот русский городе Китае стал вгоды гражданской войны оплотом белой эмиграции, понятно, что писали об этом в советское время не так уж часто. Еще меньше бы ло известно о связи П ерми с далеким Х ар б и н ом . М ежду тем связь существовала издавна. Пермяки участвовали в строительстве КВ Ж Д наряду с другими россиянами. И позднее там работали пермские железнодорожники, инженеры-путейцы, рабочие. А после революции, когда из России буквально хлынул поток эмигрантов, наверно, лишь немногие из тех, кто оказался в Харбине, миновали нашу Пермь. Здесь жили и те, кто воевал против советской власти с оружием в руках, и бывшие пермские предприниматели, и просто рабочие и крестьяне, спасавшиеся от голода, разрухи, бесправия. В Харбине, а затем в Ш анхае и других китайских городах жили и работали бывшие преподаватели П ермского университета основатель "см еновеховства" Н .В.У стрялов и Вс.Н.Иванов,ставший впоследствии известным советским писателем. Здесь были написаны воспоминания о Перми, рассказы о революционных событиях на Урале. О бо всем этом и шла речь на конференции. Г осу дарственный архив по делам политических репрессий Пермской области подготовил выставку документов "Страницы трагедии" -о судьбе харбинцев. вернувшихся на родину в 1920-30 годы. Среди выступавш их были пермские учены е-историки, журналисты , краеведы. С особенным вниманием и интересом слушали участники конференции воспоминания самих бывш их харбинцев тех, кто приехал вСоветский Союз уже в пятидесятые годы. Это были, в основном, дети и внуки эм и гр ан то в, лю ди, родившиеся в Х арби н е и прож ивш ие там значительную часть своем жизни, будучи твердо уверенными в том, что когданибудь они вернутся на родину, в страну, которой еще не видели. Среди перевозимых грузов "местного сообщения" первое место занимали хлеб и зернопродукты, затем шли мануфактура, соль, бакалейные товары. Из России, главным образом со стороны Забайкалья, в Маньчжурию ввозились посуда, лес, керосин, масло и т д . Транзитом в Россию следовал чай (в 1903 г. -2 млн. пудов)8. В результате развития торговли и притока в Маньчжурию русского и китайского населения эта прежде пустынная местность стала бы стро осваиваться. Общ ество К В Ж Д придавало большое значение привлечению русского населения в район дороги, что позволяло не только включить в оборот ранее незаселенныеземли, но и в большей или меньшей степени обеспечить их безопасность. П о линии К ВЖ Д вырастали станционные поселки, появились первые города, центральное место среди которых занял Харбин. По справедливому утверждению известного китаеведа Г.В.Мелихова Харбин был спроектирован и заложен русскими инженерами и создавался как русский город9. Временем основания Х арбина является 1898 г., хотя точная д ата его возникновения в современной литературе определяется не столь однозначно. Т ак, автор одной из р а б о т по истории " русского города в М аньчж урии" Л.И.Чугуевский считает, что "официальным днем рождения Х арбина" следует считать 23 апреля (6 мая по нов. сг.) 1898 г.10 Вэтот день инженер А.ИШидловский, руководивший одной из изыскательских партий, от имени управления дороги заклю чил д о го в о р на приобретение зем ельного участка под городское строительство. Иную дату основания го рода-2 8 мая 1898 г.-называет другой выходец из Харбина Л .П.М аркизов''. Однако не вызывает никакого сомнения тот факт, что успешному развитию Х арбина содействовал ряд благоприятных обстоятельств: его удачное расположение на пересечении железной дороги с рекой Сунгари (сам поселок назывался первоначально Сунгари), а также базовая рольХарбина как экономического и административного центра КВЖД. Китайско-Восточная железная дорога, пересекая всю территорию города, разделялась здесь натри направления: Западное-дост. Маньчжурия,Восточное-дост. Пограничная и Ю ж н о е-до П орт-А ртура и Дальнего. Примечательно, что никакой другой населенный пункт, возникший вдоль линии железнодорожной магистрали, не развивался н оль быстро и неимеп таких больших земельных площадей, отведенных под застройку, как Харбин. Для этой цели первоначально было отчуждено 5,6 тыс. десятин земли, а в 1902 г. ее площадь была увеличена до 11,1 тыс. десятин1\ Динамика хода строительства Харбина была следующей. 11о существовавшему к началу 1899 г. плану строительства города здесь велось сооружение трех поселков: С тарого Х арбина, Н ового города и Пристани. Первое время более быстро развивался Стары й Харбин -наиболее удаленная от р. Сунгари часть города, где размещалась тогда резиденция строительного управления. Другие районы -Пристань и Новый город-ещ етолько наиинали складываться15. Тем не менее, с самого начала XX столетия лидерство в развитии захватил Новый город. Он рос на возвышенном месте в двух километрах от Сунгари. Здесь находилось управление д о р о г и , п о ч то в о -тел егр аф н ая к о н т о р а , т ам о ж н я , здание Общественного собрания, учебные заведения. Н а территории Н ового города располагались также паровозные депо и центральный железнодорожный вокзал (построен в 1899 г.). В центре всего комплекса застройки был возведен Свято-Николаевский собор (декабрь 1900 г .)-в свое время один из крупнейших в мире деревянных храмов1 *.

Статья посвящена истории выставки Russian Samizdat Art [«Русское искусство самиздата»], в 1982 г. представлявшей рукотворные книги и объекты советских художников и поэтов в галерее Franklin Furnace [«Франклин Фернис»] в Нью-Йорке. Анализируя выставочную историю проекта в контексте холодной войны, автор обращает внимание на то, как американская критика проекта высветила и усугубила противоречивые позиции внутри третьей волны русской художественной эмиграции по отношению к репрезентации своего искусства на арт-сцене Нью-Йорка.

This article examines the medieval ideology of Rus', which began to take shape in the late 10th century during the reign of Vladimir Svyatoslavich. Its origins are closely tied to the process of Christianization. Ideological themes were disseminated through multiple channels to reach the widest possible audience. For the literate, ideas were conveyed through texts, while visual media -such as icons, coins, seals, paintings, and monumental architecture -served to communicate with the largely illiterate population. The authors challenge the commonly held view that ideology in medieval Rus' was merely a tool for political manipulation. They argue that the letopisi were not always commissioned by ruling princes, suggesting a more complex and nuanced relationship between ideology and political power. Given that chroniclers were primarily members of the clergy, they possessed a deep understanding of the importance of accuracy and truthfulness in their records. The study of ideology in the Middle Ages presents challenges due to the varying interpretations of the term ideology. The authors propose that in this historical context, ideology functioned as a moral guidebook, shaping values, uniting society, and providing behavioural models for specific circumstances. This contrasts with the modern perception of ideology as primarily a means of propaganda or manipulation.

В статье впервые предпринят сравнительный анализ взаимоотношений двух знаменитых историков русского зарубежья -Георгия Владимировича Вернадского (1887-1973) и Николая Ивановича Ульянова (1904-1985). Их связывала многолетняя дружба, соседские и приятельские отношения. Анализируется взаимовлияние историков-друзей на их работы и концепции. На основании многочисленных архивных и опубликованных источников восстанавливаются жизнь и быт русских историков в Йельском университете и г. Нью-Хейвене. Основное внимание уделено американскому периоду биографии Н. И. Ульянова. На основе неопубликованных материалов из архива Йельского университета реконструируется преподавательская карьера Н. И. Ульянова. Воссоздаются преподавательская модель поведения Н. И. Ульянова, его манера читать лекции. Обосновывается принадлежность профессора Н. И. Ульянова к петербургской научно-педагогической школе. Показан мир исторической науки русского зарубежья -первой и второй волн эмиграции. На основе переписки из Бахметевского архива убедительно доказывается тезис о сложившемся устойчивом круге русских историков в США. Взаимоотношения Г. В. Вернадского и Н. И. Ульянова рассматриваются в связи с их общением с другими русскими учеными-эмигрантами -М. М. Карповичем, С. Г. Пушкаревым, В. П. Никитиным. Исследуется отношение Н. И. Ульянова к евразийству, влияние на него Г. В. Вернадского. Обосновывается парадоксальная концепция «патриотического западничества» Н. И. Ульянова. Показано отношение к славянофильству, апологетика Петра I как создателя российской светской культуры, литературы и науки, в частности Академии наук и Петербурга как символа русской европейской культуры. Н. И. Ульянов являлся продолжателем линии историков С. М. Соловьева, В. О. Ключевского и С. Ф. Платонова. Дан краткий историографический обзор рассматриваемой темы. Ключевые слова: Г. В. In contemporary Russian culture, particularly the literature of the first quarter of the 21st century, several outstanding features can be emerged, such as: non-ironical engagement with metaphysical, historical, ethical, aesthetic themes. This tendency has been widely interpreted by scholars as indicative of an anti-postmodern orientation. The lack of a unified methodological approach that would allow to systematically contrast contemporary Russian literature with the prose of other literary epochs is controversial for most of these concepts.
This current study undertakes a critical examination of an innovative authorial strategy and effects it engenders within contemporary Russian fiction. The scholarly interest in the four novels of two contemporary Russian authors – Mikhail Shishkin and Eugene Vodolazkin – who have repeatedly won the most prestigious literary awards, is the unity of presence of a common theistic thesis and the reflection on time, Russian history, and the fate of Russian people.
The innovative authorial strategy represents an alternative to modernist and postmodernist models of authorial strategies and can be correlated with some post-postmodernist concepts.

T he Battle of Ogóły took place on 8 July 1945, between the 1st Prague Infantry Regiment of the Polish “People’s” Army and a group of anti-communist partisan units from the Białystok region, codenamed “Piotrków”. It was the largest such engagement in the Białystok region and one of the largest during the anti-communist uprising in Poland. Despite surprising the partisans in their own camp and having a significant numerical advantage, the communist forces failed to destroy the “Piotrków” Group. This article analyses the causes, course, and consequences of the battle, based on numerous preserved participant accounts, supplemented by archival materials deposited in the Central Military Archives and the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance.

In Russia, the myth of Maxim Gorky has long since faded. Since the end of Soviet censorship, numerous books have been published about his naivety towards Lenin and Stalin, as well as the total surveillance of his everyday life by the secret police GPU, in which his wives and lovers played a role. This chapter about Gorky’s Berlin years, which is also included in the Russian edition of this book, is based on these publications.
