This paper examines the role of public relations in risk management. The paper argued that public relations is an effective tool in risk management based on the fact that it uses communication strategies that lead to the mitigation of risk or a crisis situation. Anchored on the situational crisis communication theory (SCCT) which provides a framework for understanding and managing communication during crisis and risks, the paper noted that the theory emphasizes the importance of considering the specific characteristics of a risk situation and tailoring effective communication through public relations strategies to address them. The paper furthered into components of risk management which include risk identification, risk assessment and risk communication amongst others. Also captured in the paper are risk mitigation strategies including risk reduction, diversification and crisis management planning. The paper identified stakeholder engagement, risk communication and media relations as the ways through which public relations is used to manage risk in an organisation. Some public relations strategies for managing risk were also captured in the paper to include crisis communication planning and preparedness, reputation management and damage control, stakeholder engagement and relationship building, media relations and effective messaging during crises. Some challenges hindering the application of public relations in risk management were identified in the paper to include but not limited to rapid pace and complexity of risk, lack of control over external factors, managing multiple stakeholder expectations and media scrutiny and sensationalism. The paper concluded that public relations plays a crucial role in risk management and public relations professionals are instrumental in protecting an organization's reputation, engaging stakeholders, managing crisis communication, shaping risk perception, and building organizational resilience. Based on the conclusion, the paper recommended amongst others the development of a comprehensive communication plan, fostering of strong media relations and prompt response to media and public sentiment.

It defines the post-truth phenomenon, characterized by the diminished influence of objective facts in shaping public opinion, and analyzes how the increasing misinformation, algorithm-driven content exposure, social polarization, and declining public trust have fundamentally reshaped the digital landscape. The article explores the evolving principles of digital branding and the foundations of traditional reputation management, highlighting the new complexities introduced by digital forces. It critically analyzes the roles of search engines, social media platforms, and digital public relations in shaping public perception, drawing upon peer-reviewed studies and real-world examples. The conclusion proposes that digital branding is no longer purely controlled by organizations. Instead, public perception is increasingly shaped by external digital forces, affected by misinformation and platform dynamics. In recent years, the reputation of corporations has been damaged due to frequent financial crises and company scandals. Consequently, the importance of reputation management has been increasing day by day. Therefore, variables that can play a role in increasing and sustaining corporate reputation have been investigated; these variables are ethical leadership, ethical culture and corporate social responsibility. The literature review revealed that especially the concepts of ethical leadership
and ethical culture have not been related to corporate reputation yet and that more studies should be done in this area. In the theoretical model, ethical culture, ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility are presumed to have a significant and positive effect on corporate reputation. In addition, it is assumed that ethical organizational culture will play a partial mediator role in the relationship between ethical leadership and corporate reputation. Finally, the limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are presented.

El objetivo principal de este trabajo es determinar cual es el nivel de desarrollo del comercio electronico de los hoteles de categoria superior de la ciudad de Mar del Plata, que facilitan a los usuarios concertar reservas y pagos en forma virtual. Por otro lado, como objetivo secundario establecer la distancia -o brecha- entre la provision ideal de herramientas del e-commerce requerida por el usuario y la ofrecida por los hoteles de categoria superior de la ciudad de Mar del Plata.

The tax rate of the mining sector in Ghana is viewed to be too high and has adverse effects on the profitability of mining firms in the country. There has been an outcry for the government to find ways to help curb this problem as mining companies in the country might become uncompetitive or even fold up if not checked.This study investigates the impact that corporate income tax has on profitability of mining companies in Ghana using ten years data from the year 2005 to 2014 with a sample of the only two listed mining firms on the Stock Exchange as at the time of the study. Return on assets was used as proxy for profitability as against corporate income tax which is the independent variable whereas company size, liquidity, leverage and growth were considered as control variables. This study investigates the strategic role of soft power in achieving foreign policy objectives by analyzing its historical roots, theoretical frameworks, tools, and contemporary applications. Employing qualitative content analysis of scholarly literature, case studies, and policy documents, the research examines cultural diplomacy, public diplomacy, media influence, and digital platforms as instruments of attraction rather than coercion. Findings reveal that soft power-rooted in culture, political values, and policies-can significantly enhance a nation's global image, foster cross-cultural understanding, and influence international relations. However, its effectiveness depends on authenticity, ethical application, and integration with hard power. The study contributes by offering a comprehensive framework for integrating soft power into statecraft, emphasizing its potential in conflict resolution, coalition-building, and promoting national interests in a multipolar world.

Specifically, we study the reasoning in a transfer process of branding and reputation management policy. Our case is a rural Norwegian municipality struggling to combat depopulation. This study is longitudinal. We discover that some original program elements cannot easily be transferred to the democratic context of local government. The transfer involves both interpretations and adjustments of the policy because of municipal institutional characteristics and values. The success of transfer depends here on the ability to balance the original policy with practices widely valued within the new setting.

Bu doğrultuda bu çalışmanın amacı itibarın boyutlarının Türkiye'deki iletişim profesyonelleri tarafından söz konusu online itibar yönetimi olduğunda nasıl değerlendirildiğini ve online platformlarda itibar yönetiminin gerçekleşmesinde iletişim pratiklerine nasıl değişimler getirdiğinin anlaşılmasıdır. Social media platforms are becoming increasingly popular and essential for next-generation connectivity. However, the emergence of social media also poses critical trust challenges due to the vast amount of created and propagated content. This paper proposes a data-driven tool called SMART for trust and reputation management based on community engagement and rescaled sigmoid model. SMART's integrated design adopts a set of expert systems with a unique inference logic for trust estimation to compute weighted trust ratings of social media content. SMART further utilizes the trust ratings to compute user reputation and represent them using a sigmoid curve that prevents infinite accumulation of reputation ratings by a user. We demonstrate the SMART tool prototype using a pilot social media application and highlight its user-friendly interfaces for trustworthy content exploration.

This paper reports on a small-scale study that explores the impact of social media adoption and use on corporate communications and brand image. The research is carried out in two phases; analysis of brand communications via social media; and a small-scale survey with social media managers. We draw upon Habermas' theory of communicative action (the ideal speech situation and discourse ethics) in our analysis. The paper concludes that while some companies and public organisations are beginning to understand the importance of 'real' conversations with customers, only a small number have adopted the "human brand" approach. We identify limitations of this study and areas for further work.

Recently, leading research communities have been investigating the use of blockchains for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, where multiple participants, or agents, collaborate to make consensus decisions. To achieve this, the data in the blockchain storage have to be transformed into blockchain knowledge. We refer to these types of blockchains as knowledgebased blockchains. Knowledge-based blockchains are potentially useful in building efficient risk assessment applications. An earlier work introduced probabilistic blockchain which facilitates knowledge-based blockchains. This paper proposes an extension for the probabilistic blockchain concept. The design of a reputation management framework, suitable for such blockchains, is proposed. The framework has been developed to suit the requirements of a wide range of applications. In particular, we apply it to the detection of malicious nodes and reduce their effect on the probabilistic blockchains' consensus process. We evaluate the framework by comparing it to a baseline using several adversarial strategies. Further, we analyze the collaborative decisions with and without the malicious node detection. Both results show a sustainable performance, where the proposed work outperforms others and achieves excellent results.

The present study examined the role of Indonesian Moslem majority's national identification, collective emotions of pride and guilt in predicting their support in helping members of Islamic minority and their perceived inclusion towards this group. Data from this study (N = 182) demonstrated that, in line with our prediction, support for minority helping significantly predicted perceived inclusion. We also hypothesized and found that collective pride and collective guilt directly predicted the minority helping. Finally, national identification had significant direct effects on both collective pride and collective guilt. These findings shed light on the importance of collective emotions and national identification in giving rise to pro-social attitudes of Indonesian Moslem majority towards members of Islamic minority. Implications of the research findings were discussed with reference to theories of group-based emotion and intergroup helping, and to practical strategies Indonesian government can apply to recognize Islamic minorities.

This study intended to investigate the effect of perspective-taking on outgroup helping, with warmth impression and outgroup status serving as the moderating variables. Data from this study (n = 201) provided full support for all hypotheses specified. Warmth impression, perspective-taking, and outgroup status turned out to have significant main effects on outgroup helping. Two-way interaction effects between perspective-taking and warmth impression (perspective-taking x warmth impression) as well as perspective-taking and outgroup status (perspective-taking x outgroup status) on outgroup helping were also significant. Finally, as predicted, outgroup helping was significantly affected by a three-way interaction of perspective-taking, warmth impression and outgroup status. Both theoretical and practical implications for these findings were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to prove the effect of company size, audit opinion and auditor reputation on audit report lag at KAP in South Jakarta which consists of junior auditors, senior auditors, supervisors and managers. In this article, we review four decades of research on the formation of organizational reputation. Our review reveals six perspectives that have informed past studies: a game theoretic, a strategic, a macro-cognitive, a micro-cognitive, a cultural-sociological, and communicative one. Rather than viewing the backlash as accidental, this paper argues that Grok's behavior represents a calculated PR maneuver: a 'sweet crisis' marketing technique designed to localize, humanize, and virally position the product.

This paper titled: Reputation management. lobbying and budget padding in the Nigerian 7th National Assembly: A Public Perception tried to assess the contribution of public relations in the management of reputation of the 9•h National Assembly. It also explored the effect of padding on the budget and its consequence on the image of the 9th National Assembly. Using Google form as instrument for data collection, a range of questions
were designed and distributed to 500 android phone users. The outcome of the findings revealed that the public perception of the reputation of the 9th National Assembly was low. Finding also has shown that the nature of lobbying in the 9th National Assembly was shrouded in secrecy and therefore, betrayed the principles of transparency and sincere
engagement with the public. The paper concluded that public relations reputation management of the 9th National Assembly was deficient and loses moral credence because it did not reach expected level of public acceptance. The paper recommended among other things that both public and private behaviour of legislators should be more transparent and open by telling the truth always, prove it with actions and remain calm while the public passes it judgements.

We examine the effect of ownership and governance structures on what is arguably a firm's most valuable asset: its reputation. We model reputations based on alterable organizational and structural firm characteristics rather than the personal characteristics of the management team. We show that, in some cases, delegated "professional" management combined with outside shareholder governance supports reputable firm behavior even when owner management cannot. The option to reform after a reputation is damaged further increases the advantage of delegated management because the reform option reduces the ability of owner managers to commit ex ante to reputable behavior.

Recommendation systems have recently gained a lot of popularity in various industries such as entertainment and tourism. They can act as filters of information by providing relevant suggestions to the users through processing heterogeneous data from different networks. Many travelers and tourists routinely rely on textual reviews, numerical ratings, and points of interest to select hotels in cities worldwide. To attract more customers, online hotel booking systems typically rank their hotels based on the recommendations from their customers. In this paper, we present a framework that can rank hotels by analyzing hotels’ customer reviews and nearby amenities. In addition, a framework is presented that combines the scores generated from user reviews and surrounding facilities. The achievement of instrumental goals (do-goals) in automated systems is essential in forming users' trust. However, the use of personalized applications is additionally linked to non-instrumental goals (be-goals). Be-goals include the satisfaction of needs like stimulation, relatedness or competence that makes the use of personalized applications so popular. In an experimental study (N = 34) we investigated how different levels of be-goal achievement affect users' trust in two applications, a social network and a cloud service. Results reveal that greater be-goal achievement is related to lower users' trust, a lower perception of trustworthiness and higher risk. This finding suggests that users associate a higher vulnerability with online situations which are closely connected to the self. However, the be-goals competence and security appear to be positively influencing users' trust. From these first findings we argue that for enhancing trust in personalized applications both do-goals and be-goals should be considered.

Given the specificity and importance of nonprofit organizations, there is a growing demand for financial and non-financial information. In this way, this paper will address the question of institutional disclosure through the web, of these specific organizations, particularly the Portuguese charities. Our central goal ascertains what type of information and what factors influence Portuguese charities in the information disclosure via Internet, bearing in mind that there are some variables that might influence the disclosure of information such as size, age and certification of financial reports. The main disclosure indicators will be listed so that we can identify the most visible types of information, as well as, the most important factors that influence information disclosure. So, a checklist will be proposed, which will be the starting point for the analysis of disclosure information published by the charities, besides a significant element to evaluate the degree of compliance with this specific index. To reach this goal we will do a quantitative content analysis to the web information published by the Portuguese charities. The main conclusions mention that most of the organizations under study disclose different types of information (financial and nonfinancial), in which financial information play a more relevant role, with the annual accounts disclosure index having the highest level of disclosure. Regarding the influencing elements of the disclosed information, the certification of accounts (external auditing) and organization size were identified as the most important ones.

The paper concluded that timely dissemination of information by the university using the widest reach broadcast medium can improve the image of Nasarawa State University in the minds of its publics. Therefore, the university should endeavor to utilise radio to inform
Nigerians of its developmental policies to attract positive perceptions from all and sundry.

This study investigates the role of social media platforms-Facebook, WhatsApp, and X-in creating awareness about domestic violence against women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria. Domestic violence remains a pervasive and underreported issue in many parts of Nigeria, often perpetuated by entrenched cultural norms and systemic inequalities that marginalise women. With the rapid proliferation of digital communication tools, social media has emerged as a potent channel for disseminating information, mobilising public opinion, and advocating for victims' rights. Guided by the Cultivation Theory and the Feminist Theory, this study employed a quantitative survey design using a purposive sampling technique to collect data from 384 women across the six area councils of the FCT. The findings revealed that respondents frequently encountered posts related to domestic violence on these platforms. These posts served multiple purposes: educating women about their rights and available support systems, encouraging public discourse, and influencing attitudes toward domestic violence prevention. Posts identified included those providing psychological and legal assistance, highlighting survivor experiences, and those advocating for stronger institutional responses. Respondents perceived these messages as both informative and empowering. The analysis further affirmed that consistent exposure to such content shaped users' perceptions, in line with the propositions of Cultivation Theory, while also reinforcing the emancipatory aims of Feminist Theory. The study concludes that social media platforms are significant tools for raising awareness and fostering behavioural change regarding domestic violence. It recommends that government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and individuals intensify their use of digital platforms to combat domestic abuse. Future research should consider broader geographical contexts and examine the intersection of social media use with traditional communication channels. The study contributes to the ongoing discourse on digital activism, gender equity, and the transformative potential of technology in addressing human rights violations against women in Nigeria.

This study evaluated the role of political advertising on social media and its influence on candidate's selection in the 2024 Ondo State governorship election. It explored the extent, effects, and challenges associated with candidates' use of social media for political advertising in the election. Grounded in the Social Media Engagement Theory, the study adopted the quantitative survey research design to gather data from 384 respondents using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table method of determining sampling size. The findings indicated that the electorates in Ondo State were cognizant of political advertisements on social media platforms. Additionally, it was found that the exposure level of voters to these political advertisements was significantly high. The result further demonstrated that political advertisements on social media substantially impacted the electorates' choice of candidates. On the other hand, the study also revealed that using social media for political advertising equally led to divisions among the population based on political, ethnic, and religious lines. The study, therefore, concluded that despite the opportunities presented by social media for political advertising, politicians have persistently utilised it to escalate political tensions during election periods. It was, thus, recommended that politicians and their supporters should use social media responsibly during election-related matters.

This paper summarizes the goals, organization and results of the first RepLab competitive evaluation campaign for Online Reputation Management Systems (RepLab 2012). RepLab focused on the reputation of companies, and asked participant systems to annotate different types of information on tweets containing the names of several companies. Two tasks were proposed: a profiling task, where tweets had to be annotated for relevance and polarity for reputation, and a monitoring task, where tweets had to be clustered thematically and clusters had to be ordered by priority (for reputation management purposes). The gold standard consisted of annotations made by reputation management experts, a feature which turns the RepLab 2012 test collection in a useful source not only to evaluate systems, but also to reach a better understanding of the notions of polarity and priority in the context of reputation management.

This paper describes the organisation and results of RepLab 2014, the third competitive evaluation campaign for Online Reputation Management systems. This year the focus lied on two new tasks: reputation dimensions classification and author profiling, which complement the aspects of reputation analysis studied in the previous campaigns. The participants were asked (1) to classify tweets applying a standard typology of reputation dimensions and (2) categorise Twitter profiles by type of author as well as rank them according to their influence. New data collections were provided for the development and evaluation of systems that participated in this benchmarking activity.

Currently, existing approaches can be split into two main groups: methods based on the combination of lexical resources and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques; and machine learning approaches. This paper introduces the use of lexical databases for Sentiment Analysis of user reviews in Spanish for the accommodation and food and beverage sectors. A global sentiment score has been calculate based on the negative and positive words which appear in the review and using the mentioned lexicon database. The algorithm has been tested with short users online reviews acquired from TripAdvisor.
