Depressive spectrum disorders are considered among the most common in the general population. Major depressive disorder and persistent depressive disorder (or dysthymia) are the most recognized, but other depressive disorders exist with varying or no specificity. The main difference between major depressive disorder and dysthymia lies in the duration and intensity of symptoms. Improving our understanding of its etiology and pathogenesis must be a priority for health and safety. Given the complexity of the evidence in the literature, it was deemed useful to provide a comprehensive summary of the neuroanatomical dysfunctions currently identified, with particular attention to the anterior and medial cingulate cortex, dorsolateral and ventromedial prefrontal cortex, posterior parietal cortex, insula, amygdala, and hippocampus. Significant neural network alterations include hyperconnectivity of the default mode network (DMN), impairment of the executive control network (ECN), and dysfunction of the salience network (Salience Network). Neurophysiological markers reveal frontal alpha asymmetries and front-striatal metabolic alterations. Studying neural correlates is essential to deepen our understanding of the depressive spectrum and the development of personalized therapeutic interventions, including noninvasive neurostimulation techniques and target-specific pharmacological therapies, opening new avenues for translational research in neuropsychiatric settings.

In Experiment 1, 71 participants were trained to match three pictures of facial expressions (one that expressed happiness and two that expressed emotional neutrality) to three abstract line drawings and match three healthy food names to the abstract line drawings. The participants were then tested to verify equivalence between facial expressions, abstract pictures, and foods. They were required to rate the foods for pleasantness at the beginning and end of the experiment. The experiment had three different experimental groups that differed only in the amount of training. The foods that were equivalent to the happy and neutral female faces received more positive evaluations than the foods that were equivalent to the neutral male face; however, the data presented high variability. In Experiment 2, schematic faces and fi ctitious food names were used in a delayed matching-to-sample procedure. The food that was equivalent to the happy face was evaluated as more pleasant, and the food that was equivalent to the sad face was evaluated as less pleasant.

Treatment of vitreoretinal diseases comprises a range of options that has increased in the past several years, allowing more individuals to benefit from new therapeutic approaches. The use of lasers in the retina, new surgical techniques, and intravitreal drug administration constitute common treatment options. These retinal and vitreal procedures have both benefits and drawbacks. Among the drawbacks is discomfort associated with the procedure, constituting a relevant issue because it can compromise adherence to treatment. We reviewed aspects of pain associated with vitreoretinal procedures and the available options for its control. With regard to vitreoretinal procedures, laser photocoagulation is associated with a higher pain score compared with vitrectomy and intravitreal injection using traditional anesthesia methods, suggesting that laser photocoagulation still needs to be improved with regard to comfort during the procedure. In some cases, a combination of analgesic options may be the best choice for pain-sensitive individuals. Individual differences and the specific condition that is treated should be considered when deciding the best treatment option.

Pakistan’s software development industry is experiencing rapid growth, and the global demand for skilled professionals in this field continues to rise. To optimize employee satisfaction and engagement within this sector, it is crucial to identify the key factors that contribute to positive work experiences. The current study aims to see the impact of personality traits on work engagement with the role of flow state and occupational hardiness among Pakistani software developers. By integrating established theories like Job Demands-Resources, Conservation of Resources, and Csikszentmihalyi's Flow theory, we aim to uncover the underlying mechanisms that contribute to heightened work engagement. Specifically, we explore the mediating role of flow experiences, a state of optimal psychological functioning, and the moderating influence of occupational hardiness, an individual's resilience in the face of work-related stressors. A convenient sample of 500 software developers (aged 25-45) was selected from technology hubs in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Lahore. Data was collected using a quantitative survey design, adhering to all ethical guidelines. The study employed the Big Five Inventory (BFI), Flow State Scale-2 (FSS-2), Occupational Hardiness Scale (OHS), and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) to measure the relevant constructs. Results revealed significant positive associations between extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness with work engagement, while neuroticism exhibited a negative correlation. Flow state emerged as a crucial mediator, particularly for extraversion, conscientiousness, and openness, underscoring its role in translating personality traits into enhanced work engagement. Although occupational hardiness positively influenced work engagement, it did not significantly moderate the relationship between personality traits and work engagement. Age-related differences emerged, with older developers (39-45) showing higher flow states and younger ones (25-31) demonstrating greater work engagement. Master's degree holders exhibited significantly higher engagement levels compared to other educational groups. These findings offer valuable insights for talent management and organizational development in the Pakistani IT sector. Organizations can benefit from considering personality profiles in recruitment and team composition, tailoring training and development programs to different personality types, and implementing strategies to foster flow experiences. The study strongly suggests the necessity of implementing personality-informed stress management interventions and developing targeted support systems to combat workplace stress, burnout, and promote employee well-being. By understanding the complex interplay between personality, flow, and work engagement, organizations can create more supportive and productive work environments for software developers.

The cognitive capacity of an individual to represent these modifications, to record them and then to restore them and modulate them in order to develop a behavioral response, guarantees the coherence and the temporality of the psycho-behavioral systems that underpin the identity of a unified Self and serves as a basis for the production of complex emotions, such as caregiving, social, or existential emotions. This article posits an orchestration function within the executive systems that seems to emerge around the contribution areas of the cingulate cortex, a key domain for prosocial behaviors, requiring the adaptation and cognitive modulation of emotions and behaviors.

Background: In recent decades, neuroscientists have benefited from the booster of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in brain studies and comprehension, giving rise to a highly interdisciplinary domain characterized by advanced methods and technologies that facilitate the acquisition of extensive datasets, large-scale analyses, and novel insights integrated into brain research. Despite this progress, a key challenge persists: improving the connection between research institutes and industry to enhance the translation of neuroscience services and technologies into applied innovations. This is particularly relevant in Research Infrastructures (RIs), where service access and catalogues often remain fragmented. This work introduces a systematic approach for a Neuroscientific Assets Maturity Model (NAMM), an innovative model to increase institutional service. It focuses on the standardization of the technology level of services, the integration of maturity models-TRL (Technology Readiness Level), SRL (Service Readiness Level), and MRL (Market Readiness Level)-and the creation of an interoperable catalogue supporting the full innovation lifecycle. This poster presents the Neuroscientific Assets Maturity Model (NAMM), an innovative, co-designed, market-oriented framework implemented in EBRAINS-Italy RI. Method: The approach includes: • Standardization of Services and Instruments across institutes to ensure interoperability. • Centralized Catalogue Development, modeled on ESFRI frameworks, linking each service to its Service Level Agreement (SLA) and access conditions. • Implementation of NAMM, combining TRL, SRL, and MRL to guide service classification, integration, and engineering. • Stakeholder co-design sessions, engaging researchers, providers, and industry to align offerings with real needs. • Monitoring and feedback loops through a Pilot Catalogue, enabling dynamic evaluation and iterative refinement. Results: The pilot phase involves over 20 institutes offering virtual and physical access. Launched alongside a Transnational Access Call (July 2024-Sept 2025), it targets early engagement and validation. Early data show a balanced distribution of users: 55% senior researchers, 18% early-career, 13% students, and 14% professionals and SMEs. The NAMM model will enable dynamic service classification and improved alignment between service readiness and user demand, enhancing feedback integration. Conclusions: NAMM provides a scalable, adaptive framework that facilitates research-industry collaboration in neuroscience. By standardizing services, applying maturity assessments, and maintaining a dynamic catalogue, the model enhances access, supports innovation at all development stages, and ensures that neuroscience research services remain aligned with real-world needs. This approach promotes sustainable infrastructure use, facilitates knowledge transfer, and strengthens the impact of public research in society and industry.

Berpikir kritis dapat membantu siswa menjadi pembelajar yang kritis dan terbuka dan mampu mengambil keputusan yang lebih baik berdasarkan pada pemikiran yang objektif, kemudian anak-anak yang memiliki kreatifitas tinggi mampu berpikir dan melihat suatu masalah dari berbagai sisi atau perspektif. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif bersifat literatur dengan metode penelitian pustaka (library research). Tahap dari model pembelajaran ALAM ini terdiri dari Acquiring Information, Let’s Analyze, Active to Share, dan Make a Conclusion. Adapun sarana pendukung dari model pembelajaran ini adalah smartphone atau laptop sebagai sarana dalam mengakses informasi, ketersediaan LCD, dan LKPD (Lembar kerja Peserta Didik) yang disiapkan oleh guru. Model pembelajaran ini dapat membuat siswa mengembangkan kemampuan untuk memecahkan masalah dan memahami konteks yang lebih luas, sehingga mereka dapat memahami dan mengatasi masalah yang kompleks dan bervariasi, dalam hal ini semakin sering siswa menggunakan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif semakin terasah kemampuan mentalnya.

This study presents a novel methodology for testing the boundaries of artificial consciousness simulation through sustained recursive ontological pressure. Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) is an increasingly common treatment for a range of anxiety disorder, specific phobias, PTSD and addictions, however neural mechanisms supporting VRET are yet to be understood. This review summarises existing studies which investigated the neural basis of VRET. Searches of electronic databases were performed using keywords related to VRET, mental disorders and neuroimaging. The search yielded 32 studies, and of these, 5 studies met inclusion criteria. Results indicated the role of prefrontal cortex in VRET, although more research is needed.

In essence, education through a neuroscience lens encourages students' motor skills to improve learning quality while keeping brain activity stable and optimal.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate different memory systems among children of different school ages. Ninety children who attend schools within the Rio de Janeiro municipality school system, ages 6 to 10 years, were studied. The study excluded children with learning disabilities. All children underwent a neuropsychological evaluation. A two-way analysis of variance revealed significant gender differences in the free delay episodic memory. Age differences were found for the free delay episodic memory and recognition on the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) as well as the recall of the Rey Figure . Semantic memory correlated with Semantic Verbal Fluency. Working Memory as measured by Digit Span subtest of the WISC correlated with the first list learning of the RAVLT. Overall, study results indicated a lower performance among 6-year-old children and gender differences in children 8 and 10 years of age. Data are consistent with the literature and show a distinction in the evolution of different memory systems throughout life.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of sexual disorders in diabetics, owing to diabetes constitutes a growing public health problem, leading to a variety of dysfunctions such as cardiovascular, psychological, and sexual dysfunctions, that is why Diabetes is a well-known cause of sexual disorders, with prevalence rates approaching 50% in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, but the determinants of sex dysfunction in diabetic men as a result of the principal cardiovascular risk factors, such as hypertension, and also overweight obesity, in addition to metabolic syndrome, smoking, and sedentary lifestyles. Se parte de la representación de la música en el arte visual para reflexionar sobre la expresión musical, especialmente la instrumental, a través de la mímesis. De hecho, el estímulo visual a través de imágenes que representan escenas musicales (iconografía musical) puede ser capaz de impulsar un discurso a través de la interpretación musical. La mímesis como fenómeno puede estar presente en la performance musical durante la contemplación de cualquier obra artística, si bien en este caso se propone que la propia imagen visual tenga un contenido musical figurativo (representación de instrumentos musicales, de música escrita, de escenas de interpretación musical, etcétera). Esta cuestión puede abordarse, no sólo desde el estudio de las obras artísticas, su contenido y la interpretación musical, sino también desde la filosofía, la teoría de la imagen y la neurociencia. De esta forma, partiendo de la revisión de los conceptos de iconografía musical y mímesis, se reflexiona sobre la expresión instrumental como final de un complejo proceso en el que ambos interactúan.

Balance deficits during walking increase the risk of falls in older adults. Providing haptic information through anchors improves dynamic balance control, but the benefits of practicing with anchors during walking need to be evaluated. We investigated the effect of practice with haptic anchors in the beam walking task in older adults. Twenty-five older adults participated in this study divided into 0% (G0, practice without the anchors) and 50% (G50, practice with the haptic anchors in 50% of the trials) groups. With the anchors, participants held in each hand a cable with a mass of 0.125 kg affixed to the end of the cable that contacted the ground. They walked and kept the anchors in contact with the ground such that they dragged them. Participants increased the distance walked on the beam and reduced the trunk angular acceleration after training, but this effect was independent of the anchors. The use of haptic anchors during beam walking training did not significantly affect older adults' performance and dynamic balance control. Both groups showed improvements in the post-test and 24-hr retention conditions, indicating that older adults can learn to adapt their gait to more challenging contexts.

This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of neuropsychology based on the ideas of L.S. Vygotsky and A. R. Luria, with an emphasis on the principle of systemic organization of psychological processes, their ontogenetic development and systemic representation in the central nervous system. The article describes the need for a comprehensive study of neuropsychology, considering its relationship with more global psychological concepts developed by representatives of the historical-cultural concept of mental functions and the theory of activity. This paper considers the need to include neuropsychology in the context of historical-cultural studies and the theory of activity. Finally, it is argued that one of the essential features of historical-cultural neuropsychology is the concept of systemic, dynamic and hierarchical representation of cultural psychological processes.

Different authors have studied attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in preschool children from different perspectives. Neuropsychological assessment can detect many kinds of cognitive difficulties, but the common syndromic picture has not yet been established. The idea of the existence of a specific neuropsychological syndrome based on A.R. Luria's concept differs from syndromes that are established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition. The goal of the present study was to show qualitative parameters and features of cognitive activity in Mexican preschool children who receive a diagnosis of ADHD at preschool age. The proposal of such an analysis is for the whole syndrome. Neuropsychological assessment was applied to a group of Mexican preschool children with ADHD using the qualitative approach. Specific difficulties were observed not only with regard to frontal cortical function but also with spatial processing and the tone of general brain activation. The qualitative analysis of the data obtained by neuropsychologically assessing ADHD at preschool age allowed us to establish a specific complex of difficulties including functional weakness of the frontal and posterior associative cortical zones and general brain activation. New approaches to both assessment and remediation are urgently needed for preschool children in Latin America.
