In this paper, we present some preliminary results about the connections existing between qualitative and discrete constraint networks. We present a natural encoding of any qualitative network N into a discrete one P such that the constraints of N become the variables of P and the constraints of P are defined by the weak composition table of the used qualitative algebra. We then introduce some properties about the (global) consistency of networks, circumscribing conditions under which the two models are equivalent. We also relate some domain filtering consistencies (such as generalized arc consistency) of discrete networks encoding qualitative ones with •-consistency, where • denotes the weak composition of the qualitative calculus.

This paper presents a solution to the problem of motion control of an autonomous robot, moving in a dynamical and unstable environment. It is based on non-linear dynamical systems, modelling the state variables that define the motion of a robot under an omnidirectional platform, like its direction of navigation and velocity. The approach used, is based on a set of non-linear differential equations that model the evolution of state variables along time, based on the concept of attractors and repellers. In the official RoboCup Middle Size League field, a target is used to attract the robot to a certain position (could be the ball or a desired position to receive the ball), while a repeller could move the robot away from its original path (given by obstacles in the surrounding environment). The research was firstly carried out in a computational simulation environment and later on with robots in a real environment.

Until now world models in robotic soccer have been mainly quantitative in nature, consisting of fine-grained (numerical) estimates of player positions, ball trajectories, and the like. In contrast, the concepts used in human soccer are largely qualitative. Moving to qualitative world models also for robots has the advantage that it drastically reduces the space of possible game situations that need to be considered and, provided the concepts correspond to those in human soccer theory, it eases the task of agent specification for the designer. In this paper we propose qualitative representations using ideas from spatial cognition and employing Voronoi diagrams. We also discuss how reasoning with these representations is achieved within our underlying agent programming framework.

Middle-size robot soccer is one of the divisions that competed in national events such as the National Indonesia Robotics Competition and international competitions such as the middle size league (MSL). One of the main components in soccer robots is the kicker system. The kicker system is expected to be high torque, robust, and safe. In this work, a high voltage kicker system is designed and evaluated to substitute ROSTU's previous kicker system. This high voltage solenoid-based kicker system works at 380V and uses the electromagnetic force principle to move a ball. The performance criteria of the kicker system are it can move a ball with a mass of around 1 kg for a minimum range of 3 m and control the charging and discharging process in high voltage conditions. The experiment results show that the kicker system can move a ball with a mass of 1.06 kg, a difference kick distance from 100cm to 350cm, and a monitoring system that can show information about the capacitor voltage and...

In real soccer goal keeper has a completely di erent b e h a vior that the players. Thus we designed our goal keeper with some basic ideas taken from real soccer, which i s m o ving mainly in goal area and using arms to take the balls. Our goal keeper has a moving mechanism based on 8 motors which enables it to move forward/backward, straight left/right and rotate around its geometrical center, and a sliding arm which m o ves toward the direction of ball faster than the robot body. Using 3 CCD cameras in front and rear left and right p r o vides the goal keeper with a view of about 210 degrees.

The paper shows the use of this team to strengthen the study of mathematics, physics and science by high school students. It is illustrated a relationship between applied design topics of this robots and different subjects studied by teenagers at school. Finally we show that these robots can be used to encourage the study of engineering.

This paper describes the design of our robots for RoboCup 2015 SSL (Small sized league) competition. A pair of robots have been designed and manufactured by PAF Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (PAF KIET) which will participate in RoboCup 2015. In this paper, we have presented the ideas related to hardware and software designs while emphasis is on the mechanical structure of the robots.

The RoboCup is a scientific challenge used to foster research in the robotics areas, which main objective consists in developing a robotic football team able to play against a human team in the year 2050. This paper describes the rules of such a competition, the actual state of the art of robotic football players in the middle size league, and describes the main characteristics to take into account in order to build such type of robots. These aspects are described and analysed in terms of further developments.

As time goes on, there are more and more robotics applications. The limit is almost the imagination of each person. A great deal of industrial work can yet be done by robots and new ideas are blossoming. The entertainment industry is arriving and there are already many ideas as well as real robots on the field. It is important to point out that the entertainment applications not just entertain people as it also brings new research which will then be used in industrial work applications. This paper describes a team of robot football players which compete in a worldwide scientific challenge – the RoboCup.

In order for a robot team to actually perform a soccer game, various technologies must be incorporated. The focus of this project is to design the complete electrical system of robots that are able to play soccer. This design consists of many different subtopics such as motor control for locomotion, kicking system to shoot the ball, dribbling system to keep the possession of the ball and the interface of the microcontroller with all of these systems. Our main purpose is to be able to compete in Robocup SSL 2009. Robocup is an international joint project to promote AI, robotics, and related fields, and has chosen to use the soccer game as a central topic of
