On the question of Byzantine european policy in the first half
of the 13th century
The first half of the 13th century was a time of complex trials and changes for Byzantium. After the capture of Constantinople by the Crusaders in 1204, alongside the Latin Empire, several Greek states emerged in Byzantine territory, such as the Empire of Nicaea, the Empire of
Trebizond, and the Despotate of Epirus. In this new environment, these states were forced to reshape their foreign policies, especially in relation to European powers, in order to regain their positions in the Balkans and Asia Minor.
Following the capture of Constantinople and the establishment of the Latin Empire, the Empire of Nicaea focused on the struggle to reclaim the imperial capital. Byzantine rulers actively employed diplomacy, forming alliances with various European powers. Special attention was given
to relations with the Pope and the Republic of Venice, which played key roles in Western European politics.
Forced to adapt to the new political reality, Byzantium demonstrated flexibility and perseverance, which eventually allowed it to recapture Constantinople, though it was unable to restore the empire to its former glory.

‫الكلمات‬ ÖZ Bu çalışma, hicrî I. yüzyılın sonu ile II. yüzyılın başlarında ortaya çıkan en önemli kelâmî ekollerden biri olan Mu'tezile'nin edebî ve fikrî hayattaki etkisini konu edinmektedir. Mu'tezile, naklî yönteme göre aklî yöntemi öne çıkararak sadece kelâm ve inanç alanında değil, edebiyat ve eleştiri gibi farklı sahalarda da iz bırakmıştır. Araştırma, edebiyat-kelâm ilişkisini ele alan karşılaştırmalı bir inceleme niteliği taşımakta ve Arap edebî tenkidinin aklî bir temele oturmasında Mu'tezile düşüncesinin rolünü ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda, Amr b. Ubeyd, Bişr b. Mu'temir, Sümâme b. Eşres, Câhiz, Nâşî el-Ekber ve İbn Tabâtabâ, Rummânî ve Sâhib b. Abbâd gibi isimlerin eleştirel yaklaşımları incelenmiş; onların sadece kendi çevreleriyle sınırlı kalmayıp diğer ekollere ve eleştirmenlere de yön verdiği gösterilmiştir. Çalışmanın hedefi, Mu'tezile'nin eleştiri metodunu nasıl şekillendirdiği ve bu İslam Tetkikleri Dergisi -Journal of Islamic Review ‫الهجريين‬ ‫والثالث‬ ‫الثاني‬ ‫القرنين‬ ‫خالل‬ ‫العربي‬ ‫النقد‬ ‫في‬ ‫االعتزال‬ ‫منحى‬ metodun edebî eleştirinin gelişiminde nasıl belirleyici olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Yöntem olarak tarama, toplama ve analiz teknikleri kullanılmış, özellikle Câhiz'in Hayevân ve el-Beyân ve't-tebyîn adlı eserlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Neticede Mu'tezile'nin, Arap edebî tenkidini aklî bir zeminde sistemleştirdiği, öznel yaklaşımları sınırlandırdığı ve teorik istikrar sağladığı; fakat aynı zamanda sanatsal yaratıcılığı belirli kalıplara hapsettiği tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla çalışma klasik Arap tenkidinin teorik formundaki gelişim ve istikrarın Mu'tezile'nin özellikle hicrî üçüncü ve dördüncü yüzyıllarda gerçekleştirdiği çalışmalara borçlu olduğu sonucuna varmaktadır.

Подібно першому зіткненню поміж аварами та Імперією 568-570 рр., приводом до початку бойових дій у 581 р. стали претензії аварів на терени провінції Паннонія ІІ та її центр, місто Сирмій (лат. Sirmium; суч. Сремська Митровиця, Сербія). Незважаючи на загальну непідготовленість римлян до першої війни з аварами, останні не змогли взяти місто штурмом, з огляду на наявність у нього укріплень та особливості географічного розташування. Зрештою, у 570 р. сторони уклали договір, що завершував бойові дії, а аварам повторно надали статус федератів Імперії.

Поряд із цим, дипломатія імператора Тиберія ІІ Констянтина (578-582) щодо кочовиків носила уцілому примирювальний характер. У 578 р. сторони здійснили спільний похід супроти склавинів, а оборона форпостів на Дунайському лімесі обмежувалась нечисельними залогами у них. Стосувалось це і Сирмія.

Як наслідок, каган аварів Баян І (562-602), зіславшись на загрозу склавинів на південь від Дунаю, поновив бойові дії супроти Імперії. Друга у часі війна за Сирмій обмежувалась головно облогою населеного пункту, відтворенню хронології якої й присвячений цей оглядовий текст. Відтворення подій здійснено на основі наративних джерел сучасників - "Історії" Феофілакта Сімокатти, "Церковної історії" Іоанна Ефеського та "Хроніки" Іоанна Бікларійського.

Safevi-Osmanlı  siyasi  ilişkilerinin  en  dramatik  dönemlerinden  biri  de 16. yüzyılın son çeyreğinde yaşanmıştır. On iki yıl devam eden Safevi- Osmanlı  Savaşları  nihayet  1590  yılında  İstanbul  Barış Antlaşması  ile son bulmuştur. İstanbul Barışı iki devlet arasındaki savaşa son vermekle birlikte, diplomatik ilişkilerin  genişlemesi ve hız kazanmasını sağlamıştır. Devrin kaynaklarından yola çıkınca, İstanbul Barışı'nın imzalanmasından sonra yaşanan iki taraflı diplomatik gidiş gelişlerin ortaya çıkmasında önemli bazı iç ve dış nedenlerin etkili olduğunu görmekteyiz. Barış gereği sınırların tespit edilmesi, Osmanlı yanlısı olan ve Safevilere karşı ortaya çıkan Gilan olayları, İstanbul’da rehin bulunan Safevi şehzadesi Haydar Mirza meselesi ve bir de bu aralar Safevi Devleti’nin Şeybanilerle, Osmanlı Devleti’nin ise, Avusturya ile savaş durumunda olması Safevi-Osmanlı diplomatik ilişkilerinin gelişiminde ortaya çıkan önemli meselelerdir. Safevi  ve  Osmanlı  Devletleri  arasında  16.  yüzyıl  sonlarında  yaşanan ilişkilerde bazen tatsızlık görünse de genel olarak taraflar, 1590 İstanbul Barışı’nın  şartlarını  korumadan  yana  tavır  sergilemişlerdir.  Osmanlı Devleti Batı’da başlattığı Avusturya savaşından dolayı, Doğu sınırlarının emniyeti için barışı bozmak istememiştir. Bu yüzden de, İstanbul’a gelen Safevi elçileri çok iyi ağırlanmış, hediyeler ve dostça yazılmış mektuplarla geri uğurlanmıştır. Safevi hükûmeti de İstanbul’a çok sayıda hediye ve aynı hoş içerikli mektuplarla elçiler göndermiştir.

This article examines the 1462 betrayal of Vlad Țepeș, Prince of Wallachia, by Pope Pius II’s realpolitik, which prioritized Matthias Corvinus’s stable Catholic Hungary over Vlad’s effective Orthodox resistance to the Ottoman Empire. Analyzing primary sources—Pius II’s Commentaries, Laonikos Chalkokondyles’ Histories, and German pamphlets—this study argues that Vlad’s infamous Forest of the Impaled was a desperate symbolic act, evoking Golgotha’s sacrifice and St. George’s dragon-slaying to reclaim Christian legitimacy against papal propaganda recasting him as a pagan savage. Employing a chess framework, it contrasts Pius and Corvinus’s Two Knights Defense—patient consolidation of Central European power—with Vlad’s Fried Liver Attack, a sacrificial gambit that collapsed without allied support. The propaganda war, leveraging Hungary’s Árpád mythology, cemented Vlad’s demonization, birthing the Dracula myth. This interdisciplinary analysis, blending semiotics and strategy, reveals how realpolitik and narrative control overrode Vlad’s crusading intent, reshaping his legacy from defender to monster.

This article investigates how the Crusades were remembered and reinterpreted in nineteenth-century Egypt, at the intersection of historiography, intellectual thought, and national identity. It traces the transformation of Crusade memory from medieval Arabic sources through the late Ottoman era, with particular attention to key Egyptian figures such as al-Jabartī and Rifāʿa al-Ṭahṭāwī. Their writings bridged traditional Islamic historiography and emerging nationalist perspectives, shaping perceptions of the Crusades in light of colonialism and resistance. The study shows how Napoleon’s 1798 invasion of Egypt revived comparisons between European imperialism and the medieval Crusades, a theme that influenced later historical narratives. It further examines how thinkers like Muḥammad ʿAbduh and Jamāl al-Dīn al-Afghānī invoked the Crusades to critique European colonialism and advocate Islamic unity and reform. The publication of the first Arabic monograph on the Crusades in 1899 marked a pivotal moment in Egyptian historiography, reflecting a deepening scholarly engagement with the subject. Ultimately, the article demonstrates how the Crusades became embedded in Egyptian historical consciousness—shifting from a narrative of religious conflict to a symbol of colonial resistance and national identity—thus shaping both modern Arab historiography and public memory of the Crusades.

Die vorgelegte landeskundliche Abhandlung befasst sich mit dem „Historisch-topographischen Handbuch der Wehranlagen und Herrensitze Oberösterreichs“ des Burgenforschers und Archivars Norbert GRABHERR, das im Jahre 1972/73 als Manuskript entstanden ist und schließlich im Jahre 1975 von der Österreichischen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Ur- und Frühgeschichte in Wien publiziert wurde. Die Veröffentlichung des burgenkundlichen Manuskriptes wurde insbesondere von Fritz FELGENHAUER, seinerzeit Vorstand des Institutes für Ur- und Frühgeschichte an der Universität Wien, befürwortet, der es als eine „einzigartige Quelle für die österreichische Mittelalterarchäologie“ taxierte. Tatsächlich galt das Handbuch seit seiner Einführung als wichtiges Nachschlagewerk, das von Mittelalterarchäologen, Historikern, Archivaren und Regionalforschern intensiv genutzt wurde und wird. Unzählige wissenschaftliche und heimatkundliche Abhandlungen zitieren das Handbuch. In jüngster Zeit fanden die Datensätze auch Eingang in den Themenbaum Geschichte des „Digitalen Oö. Rauminformationssystems“ sowie in die „Freie Enzyklopädie Wikipedia“. Bei den Erhebungen, die vom Verfasser dieses Beitrags sowie von der Archäologin und Denkmalpflegerin Marianne POLLAK durchgeführt wurden, mussten indes zahlreiche Fehler in den Einträgen vermerkt werden. Insbesondere die Verortungsdaten stellen eine empfindliche Schwachstelle des „Historisch-topographischen Handbuches“ dar. Die Lageungenauigkeiten bedingen auch, dass die Orts- und Katastralgemeinden, aber auch die Grundstücksnummern, in vielen Fällen nicht stimmen. Als weiterer Schwachpunkt war eine gewisse Unkenntnis von Geländedenkmalen insgesamt zu konstatieren. So scheinen im Handbuch mitunter „Burgstellen“ auf, bei denen es sich tatsächlich um Altstraßen, Flurwüstungen (Wölbacker, Ackerterrassen), Materialgruben, Steinbrüche oder natürliche Terrainformungen handelt. Das Ziel dieses Beitrages ist eine gültige Überarbeitung der Datensätze basierend auf dem aktuellen Forschungsstand. Weitere Überarbeitungen bzw. Ergänzungen werden durch Versionierungen gekennzeichnet, somit können jederzeit neue Ergebnisse einfließen.

In his novellas The Saint and The Temptation of Pescara, C. F. Meyer takes the notion that the literary portrayal of saints oscillates between autonomy and providence as an occasion to grapple with a theoretical conundrum: How is it possible to narrate a saint? To answer this question, Meyer makes use of the realist evidence regime on the one hand, which he links to the legendary narrative, and the New Testament temptation pericope on the other, which already poses the problem of autonomy for Christ himself and which can thus also be applied to Pescara's Imitatio Christi. Während die Gattung der Legende in der Mediävistik breit erforscht worden ist, weist die Neuere Literaturwissenschaft -insbesondere die deutschsprachige -in diesem Bereich ein wesentliches Desiderat auf. 1 Obwohl die Forschung zum frankophonen Realismus die Legende als Kunstform bereits entdeckt, 2 fehlt in der Germanistik nach wie vor eine Studie, welche die Aktualität der Legende in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts untersucht. Dies ist umso erstaunlicher, als sich auch die deutschsprachige Literatur des bürgerlichen Realismus gezielt mit den Darstellungstechniken des legendarischen Erzählens auseinandersetzt. In Conrad Ferdinand Meyers späten Novellen schlagen sich diese darstellungstheoretischen Beschäftigungen nieder. Sie widmen sich dem Problem, wie sich die Spannung zwischen der Willensfreiheit von Heiligen und ihrer Steuerung durch die Vorsehung legendarisch erzählen lässt. Da die Literatur aber nicht an analytische Kategorien gebunden ist, sondern zu ästhetischen Bedingungen jenseits einer 1 Aktuell behebt das von Nicolas Detering geleitete Forschungsprojekt Gattungspoetik des Sakralen. Aneignung geistlich-alteuropäischer Literaturformate in der deutschsprachigen Moderne (18.-20. Jahrhundert) dieses Forschungsdesiderat. Die letzte Monographie zu der modernen Legende der deutschen Literatur liegt bereits dreißig Jahre zurück. Hans-Peter Ecker stellt darin eine kulturanthropologisch ausgerichtete Legendentheorie auf. Seine Gattungstheorie, die von ‚australischen Aborigines' und ägyptischen Erzählungen bis in die Moderne reicht, erhebt einen universellen Anspruch, den aber leider moderne Legenden -so Eckers Analyse -nur teilweise zu erfüllen vermögen. In Genesis 10,25 wird von Peleg gesagt: "in seinen Tagen wurde die Erde geteilt". Diese Studie untersucht die Hypothese, dass sich dahinter zwei globale Teilungsereignisse verbergen-(a) eine physisch-geologische Trennung der Landmassen und (b) eine ethnokulturelle Aufspaltung der Menschheit.  Zielsetzung: Entwicklung eines interdisziplinären Modells, das den biblischen Bericht (Sintflut und Babel) mit geowissenschaftlichen Prozessen verknüpft. Insbesondere soll gezeigt werden, wie ein hybrides geologisches Modell einer schnellen Kontinentaldrift im Anschluss an die Sintflut mit der biblischen Angabe über Peleg in Einklang gebracht werden kann. Dabei stützt sich das Modell auf eine katastrophale Plattentektonik im jungen-Erd-Zeitrahmen. Gleichzeitig wird die postbabelische Verbreitung der Volksgruppen genetisch und kulturell beleuchtet.  Aufbau: Nach einem biblisch-historischen Hintergrund (Kap. 2) folgen Ausführungen zur geologischen Teilung der Erde (Kap. 3) und zur sprachlichen Aufspaltung in Babel (Kap. 4). Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der ethnisch-genetischen Verbreitung der Völker nach Babel (Kap. 5). Abschließend skizziert Kap. 6 methodische Überlegungen und Forschungsdesiderate.

Der 1915 geborene, in Menznau (Kanton Luzern, Schweiz) und später auf dem Hof Dünnhirs bei Buholz (Schweiz) aufgewachsene Franz Galliker erzählt in diesem Beitrag Spukereignisse, die mit der 1798 aufgehobenen Richtstätte auf dem Galgenberg bei Buholz in Zusammenhang stehen. Ergänzt werden seine Geschichten und Erinnerungen mit historischen Fakten rund um die noch stehende Landgerichtskapelle und das in den 1980er Jahren abgetragene «Armsünderbildstöcklein».

Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of 21st-century social thought on the Christian Church in Nigeria’s South–South region, focusing on the evolving challenges and opportunities presented by contemporary ideologies. As globalization, urbanization, digital media, and individualism increasingly shape societal values, the Church faces pressure to adapt while preserving its theological foundations. The study investigates how modern concepts such as human rights, social justice, and secularism have influenced the Church’s identity, mission, and public perception. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study combines qualitative interviews and
quantitative surveys conducted across Edo, Delta, and Rivers States. This approach allows for a
comprehensive understanding of the Church’s current position in society. The research draws from a robust theoretical framework that includes biblical theology, sociology of religion, and classical Christian social thought, with particular reference to thinkers like Reinhold Niebuhr and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The historical trajectory of Christian social ethics—from the early Church to modern-day ecclesial expressions—serves as a backdrop for assessing present dynamics. Findings from the study indicate that while the Church continues to play a significant role in moral guidance, national development, and community empowerment, it is increasingly affected by internal contradictions. Issues such as prosperity-driven theology, institutional expansionism, and diminished prophetic engagement have undermined the Church’s credibility in some quarters. Many congregations struggle to balance the demands of cultural relevance with the imperative of doctrinal fidelity, raising critical questions about spiritual integrity and public trust. The study concludes with strategic recommendations for repositioning the Church as a transformative agent rooted in biblical ethics and responsive to societal change. These include fostering authentic discipleship, reemphasizing social responsibility, and developing a theology of public engagement that addresses Nigeria’s pressing ethical and developmental challenges. Ultimately, the thesis calls for a renewed ecclesial vision that faithfully embodies the gospel while constructively engaging the complexities of 21st-century Nigerian society.

Uluslararası Selçuklu Anadolu'sunda İlim ve Ulema Sempozyumu Ebü's-Seâdât Mecdüddîn el-Mübârek b. Esîrüddîn Muhammed b. Muhammed eş-Şeybânî el-Cezerî (ö. 606/1210) Mecdüddin İbnü'l-Esîr olarak tanınmaktadır. Cizre'de 1149 yılında dünya geldi. Yirmi yaşında iken Musul'a göç etti. Ölünceye kadar da orada kaldı. Âlim, faziletli ve kâmil bir zattı. Kur'an, tefsir, hadis, nahiv ve dil ilimlerinde yetkin birisidir. Kardeşi Ebu'l-Hasen onun hakkında şöyle der: Kardeşim, Ali Nasîhuddîn Ebû Muhammed'den, Ebu Bekr Yahya b. Sa'dûn'dan ve Ebû'l-Hazm Mekkî b. Reyyân'dan edebiyat okudu. Ayrıca Hatip Ebu'l-Fadl İbn et-Tûsî ve diğerlerinden hadis dinledi. Onun, Ebu İshâk es-Sa'lebî'nin el-Keşf ve'l-Beyân fî Tefsîri'l-Ḳurʾân'ı ile Zemahşerî'nin el-Keşşâf ʿan Haḳâikı Ğavâmizi't-Tenzîl ve ʿUyûni'l-Eḳâvîl fî Vücûhi't-Teʾvîl adlı tefsirinin bir araya getirildiği el-İnsâf fi'l-Cemʿ Beyne'l-Keşf ve'l-Keşşâf (fî Tefsîri'l-Ḳurʾân) isimli dört ciltlik bir eserinden bahsedilmektedir. 22 Ebû Abdillâh Fahruddîn Muhammed b. el-Hadr b. Muhammed el-Harrânî (ö. 622/1225) 1148 yılında Harran'da doğmuş ve 1225 yılında yine burada vefat etmiştir. Kaynaklarda İbn Teymiyye lakabıyla anılmaktadır. Hanbelî mezhebi ulemasından olup fıkıh, hadis, tefsir, Arap dili ve edebiyatı ile tasavvuf ilimlerini tahsil etmiştir. Bağdat'taki öğreniminden sonra Harran'a dönen İbn Teymiyye kendisini öğretim, telif, fetva ve irşat faaliyetlerine verdi. Başta tefsir olmak üzere hadis, fıkıh, hitabet, Arap dili ve edebiyatında adını duyurdu. Zehebî, onun tefsirde, fıkıhta ve lügatte imam olduğunu söyledi. Harran Camii'nde vaizlik yaptığından dolayı "Harran hatibi" adıyla şöhret bulmuştur. Kaynaklarda otuz cilt civarında et-Tefsîrü'l-Kebîr adlı bir tefsirinden bahsedilmektedir. Teymiyye ailesine mensup ilim adamları arasında Fahreddin'in kardeşi Abdullah ile onun soyundan gelen Mecdüddin Abdüsselâm, Şehâbeddin Abdülhalîm ve Takıyyüddin Ahmed en meşhur olanlardır. 23

Rechnungen gehören zur sogenannten pragmatischen Schriftlichkeit, also zum großen Bereich derjenigen Texte, die vor allem in pragmatischen Zusammenhängen (Alltag, Beruf, Verwaltung) entstehen, einem Zweck dienen, eine Handlung begleiten, dokumentieren oder Wissen bereitstellen. In diesem Beitrag wird danach gefragt, wie aus Rechnungen Wissen über historische Flussauen und die Gesellschaften, die in ihnen lebten, sowie den Interaktionen zwischen Fluss und Gesellschaft gewonnen werden kann. Dafür ist Quellenkritik in mehreren Schritten erforderlich. Zum einen muss die übliche historische Quellenkritik unter Beachtung der Quellengattung befolgt werden. Zum anderen ist eine besondere Sensibilität für die speziellen Aspekte erforderlich, die sich aus der spezifischen Fragerichtung ergeben. In besonderem Maß relevant ist eine mehrschrittige Quellenkritik für Texte, die auf den ersten Blick ein nüchternes Abbild der Wirklichkeit wiederzugeben scheinen, wie vor allem Rechnungslegungen (Quittungen, Rechnungen, Rechnungsbücher usw.). Diese Quellengattung ist Gegenstand einer hoch spezialisierten Forschung, die jedoch bisher kaum den in diesem Beitrag thematisierten Fragestellungen nachgegangen ist. In der Archäologie des Mittelalters ist generell bekannt, dass mittelalterliche Rechnungen zur Erschließung der materiellen Alltagskultur herangezogen werden können. Prinzipiell wird der Quellengattung in der umwelthistorischen Forschung ein Erkenntniswert beispielsweise für die Rekonstruktion von Veränderungen des historischen Fischbestandes in Langzeitperspektive oder von Ernährungsgewohnheiten mit Fisch zugeschrieben. Wie dies im Einzelnen erfolgen kann, wird am Beispiel eines Abschnitts aus den Stadtrechnungen der Reichsstadt Nördlingen 1496/97 über Einnahmen und Ausgaben im Zusammenhang mit Fischfang erläutert. Zentrale Fragen lauten: Welche quellenkundlichen Überlegungen sind dafür wichtig, was muss die erforderliche Quellenkritik beachten, wie kann eine kritische Edition und Interpretation einer Rechnung aussehen? Welche Probleme sind dabei zu berücksichtigen und welche Reichweite haben die erzielten Erkenntnisse?

Im Zentrum der kleinen Quellenkunde steht die kritische Einführung in unterschiedliche Wege der Erforschung der Fluvialen Anthroposphäre, also der Auenlandschaft unter dem zunehmenden Einfluss des Menschen im Verlauf der Zeit. Sie entstand im Rahmen des Schwerpunktprogramms 2361 „Auf dem Weg zur Fluvialen Anthroposphäre“ der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft, das seit 2023 gefördert wird. Unter ‚Wegen der Forschung‘ wird der Prozess des wissenschaftlichen Forschens im fruchtbaren interdisziplinären Spannungsfeld zwischen natur und geisteswissenschaftlichen Disziplinen verstanden. Damit sind zum einen Methoden, zum anderen Untersuchungsgegenstände (‚Quellen‘) gemeint, die zu einem definierten Zweck – Erkenntnis der Vergangenheit – analysiert werden. Auch wenn also die Ausrichtung der Fragerichtung auf historische Erkenntnis zielt, vermeidet sie eine disziplinäre Engführung auf die überwiegend text und artefaktgebundenen Geschichtswissenschaften zugunsten eines multidisziplinären Ansatzes. Der Band versteht sich als Versuch der wechselseitigen Erläuterung disziplinär spezifischer Wege zur Erforschung vergangener Verhältnisse in Flussauen durch eine Vermittlung quellenkritischer Expertise. Die Einleitung stellt Schlüsselkonzepte und Fragestellungen sowie die einzelnen Beiträge des Bandes vor.

In dieser Arbeit wird gezeigt, wie der Band Landgericht Griesbach des Historischen Atlas Bayern zu einem digitalen Nachschlagewerk für die Haus-und Hofforschung in dieser Region erweitert werden kann. Daneben werden einige grundlegende statistische Auswertungen zu Grundeigentümern und Hofgrößen durchgeführt. In einem digitalen Anhang werden umfangreiche Datensätze veröffentlicht, welche es möglich machen, das digitale Nachschlagewerk auf jedem PC dezentral zu installieren und zu nutzen.

İlhanlılar dönemi, Cengiz Han’ın istilalarıyla başlayan yıkıcı sürecin ardından yaklaşık yarım yüzyıl sonra bilim ve kültürde önemli bir canlanmaya sahne olmuştur. Bu dönemde, özellikle tıp alanında Nasîrüddin Tûsî ve Reşîdüddin Fazlullâh-ı Hemedânî gibi önde gelen hekimlerin katkıları, bilimsel zenginliği gözler önüne sermektedir. Bu dönemin bilim adamlarından Tûsî, matematik ve astronomi alanındaki derin bilgisiyle birlikte tıp pratiğinde de önemli bir etki yaratmış ve kayda değer cerrahi müdahalelerde bulunmuştur. Tensûh-nâme-yi İlhânî adlı eseri, tıp tarihine dair kıymetli bilgiler sunarak bu alandaki bilgi birikimini zenginleştirmiştir. Öte yandan, İlhanlı devlet adamı, tabip, âlim ve tarihçilerinden olan Reşîdüddin Fazlullâh, tıp, tarih ve felsefe gibi çeşitli disiplinlerde kapsamlı çalışmalar gerçekleştirmiş, Âsâr-ı Ahyâ, Sevânihu’l-Efkâr-i Reşîdî ve diğer tıp alanındaki eserleriyle hem tıbbi uygulamaları hem de sağlık sisteminin organizasyonunu geliştirmeye katkıda bulunmuştur. Bu dönemde dârüşşifâların kurulması ve bilim insanlarının himaye edilmesi, tıp eğitimine ve pratiğine
katkı sağlamıştır. İlhanlılar döneminde yapılan çeviri faaliyetleri ve farklı kültürlerden gelen tıbbi bilgilerin sentezi, İslam tıbbının evrensel bir nitelik kazanmasına imkân tanımıştır.

As a result of economic ties and military operations between both shores of the Mediterranean during the medieval period, many peoples and ethnic groups moved-either voluntarily or forciblyto regions beyond their original homelands. Among the most significant of these regions were Al-Andalus and Sicily. The latter witnessed significant political settlement and the widespread influence of Islam and its civilization from the 2nd century AH/8th century AD. Although Islamic rule in Sicily came to an end in the 5th century AH/11th century AD due to the Reconquista and the shifting balance of power between the East and West in the Mediterranean world, Muslim communities continued to exist there. Despite being at the lowest ranks of the social hierarchy, these Muslim groups played a crucial role in the political and social life of Sicily, particularly in the courts of its rulers and its great capital, Palermo. Among these groups was the class of "slaves and servants", whose presence and contributions are partially documented in Ibn Jubayr's travelogue Al-Tadhkira bi'l-Akhbar 'an Ittifaqat al-Asfar. This study explores the role and contributions of this Muslim community and social class in Sicily, with a particular focus on Palermo.

The article discusses the evidence relating to the death of knyaz Igor in
the Drevlian land in 945. According to the Russian chronicle “Tale of
Bygone Years”, the Drevlians considered the ruler of Kiev to be a robber
and a thief and constantly compared Igor to a wolf. Relying on this
evidence, V. Y. Petrukhin suggested that the comparison of Igor with a
wolf is rooted in the remnants of the Indo-European legal tradition, in
which an outlaw was likened to a wolf. The researcher only cited parallels
from Scandinavian and Icelandic legal traditions to prove his hypothesis.
The outlaw was indeed called ‘vargr’ (i.e. ‘wolf’) there. However, as M.
Jacobi has shown, the polysemy ‘wolf-criminal’ in Germanic languages is
probably late. Therefore, it cannot be used as decisive evidence for the
existence of a similar phenomenon in the Slavic legal tradition. In order to
demonstrate the existence of the polysemy ‘criminal/outcast-wolf’, the
author of this article refers to §37 of the Hittite laws, in which a woman's
kidnapper and a murderer of her defenders was declared ‘wolf’, i.e. outlaw. This legal use of the word ‘wolf’ can be extrapolated to the Slavic legal tradition, where the expression “to kill somebody like a dog” appears in the legal code “Russkaya Pravda”. Given the interchangeability of the lexemes ‘wolf’ and ‘dog’ in certain Indo-European languages, it is reasonable to conclude that we are dealing with remnants of the Indo-European legal tradition, in which an outlaw was declared a wolf.

Kuzeyde Tur Abdîn'in sınırı iyice belirlenmiş olup Dicle Nehri boyunca uzanan kayalıklar, dik ve hatta çok defa doğrudan-doğruya Mezopotamya'ya doğru iner. Bu sınır karşı taraftan bakıldığında azametli ve gayet biçimli bir duvar gibi görünür. Eskiden beri işlek olan Mardin-Nusaybin üzerinden Cizre'ye giden yol, Tur Abdîn'in güney sınırına yakın bir mesafeden geçer. 3 Ortaçağ'da Tur Abdîn ve civar şehirleri, tarım ve ticarette önemli bir yer tutar. Su kaynakları açısından zengin olması hasebiyle kuru tarımın yanında sulamalı tarım için de elverişli bir alandır. Bu kaynaklardan en önemlisi Hermes Nehri olup günümüzde Midyat'a bağlı Beyazsu mevkiînden çıkan Çağçağ Deresi 4 'dir. Hirmas adıyla da bilinen bu kaynak Tur Abdîn şehrinin güneyi ve Nusaybin'in kuzeyinde bulunan ve Ortaçağ'da Bâlûsâ ‫)ﺑﺎﻟﻮﺳﺎ(‬ denilen dağın dibinden çıkar. Roma ve Bizans devrinde bu nehir Mygdonious-Mygdones ve Saocoras adlarıyla bilinmektedir. Hem içme hem de sulama amaçlı kullanılan bu su, geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde de çevresindeki yerleşim alanlarının su ihtiyacını karşılamaktadır. Hermes Nehri'ni oluşturan kollar (Beyazsu/Bismar ve Karasu/Mahsari) menbağından çıktıktan kısa bir süre sonra Zeveran bölgesinde birleşir. Suların çıktığı bu yerlere Bîr-i As veya Ber'as ‫س(‬ ْ ‫)ﺑﺮا‬ adı da verilmiştir. Yerin dibinden fışkırmak suretiyle yüzeye çıkan bu sular istikameti boyunca birçok bahçeyi suladıktan sonra Nusaybin'e ulaşır. Menbaından Nâsîbîn'e kadar olan 3 fersahlık mesafede yemyeşil alanlar, çeşit çeşit meyve ağaçları ve üzüm bağları bulunmaktadır. Ya'kubî'nin aktarımına göre bu nehrin üzerinde Rumî tarzda yapılmış çok sayıda tarihi köprü bulunmaktadır. Hermes Nehri, Karkisya'ya varmadan önce Habur Nehri ile birleşir. Birleşen bu iki nehir Suriye topraklarında Karkisya civarında Fırat'a dâhil olur. Günümüzde çok sayıda ağaç ve çeşit çeşit meyvenin yetiştirildiği bu alanlarda aynı zamanda kültür balıkçılığı, ceviz ağacı yetiştiriciliği ve kavak ağacından oluşan kereste ticareti yapılmaktadır. Bunun yanı sıra mesire alanı olarak da istifade edilen bu suyun çevresi bölge insanı için bir istirahat merkezidir.

The way to begin a thematic overview of Christianity in medieval Western Europe is to approach its structures, organizational systems, and mechanisms that allowed it to function and give it a kind of unity and rationality.  It is an approach supported by a long tradition of historical learning, which connects us to the past and strengthens much of what might be considered old-fashioned church history.  History converges on the utilitarian Church rather than the religions.  Such history is old-fashioned in the context of its recognized customs and practices, which remain valuable and valid as a scholarly element, enhanced and amplified by recent developments, but neither outdated nor superseded.  The extent of the League of Nations’ sovereignty is an example of the international order of the past, which is reminiscent of medieval Christendom.  By the era of Pope Innocent 3rd (1198-1216), it had been observed that the Church, with the Papacy at its head, had become an international state.  It had everything that a state has and more.  It can raise funds by direct taxation and raise armies equally and directly.  It could bring offenders to the courts now and had the means of executing its judgments.  It is about ‘papal monarchy’ (Whalen, 2015).  The objectives and aim of the paper are to discuss the Papacy of the medieval era within its historical context and its importance.  The methodology was conducted through a qualitative documentary analysis.  The historical question is: How historically significant was the papal monarchy as a symbol of Christendom in the medieval era?

This study examines the Great Soviet Encyclopedia (GSE) as a vehicle of Marxist-Leninist doctrine, analysing its quantitative (entry length, references, authors) and qualitative aspects (ideological language, thematic framing). By studying entries like "Encyclopedists" and "Encyclopedia," it finds that while the first two editions blend ideology with historical depth, the third edition adopts formal neutrality but with reduced informational richness. This challenges the prevailing scholarly view that the third edition is superior as a reference work due to its avoidance of ideological influence. The principle of this article was to determine reasons behind the magnetostriction of LCMO and the frustration of 230 cm-1 phonon mode in the YBCO/LCMO superlattices, which studied in this paper. A powerful technique has be used to perform this work, which was Raman light scattering technique. The combination of these two antagonistic materialssuperconducting material and ferromagnetic materialproduced YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 /La 2/3 Ca 1/3 MnO 3 thin films with different thickness as shown in the table below. In this paper, we could determine that the unusual behaviour of the 230 cm-1 mode and the magnetostriction of LCMO were both a result of the double-exchange mechanism and the super-exchange interaction, which both belong to exists of YBCO at the interface with LCMO.

В статье рассматривается явление, именуемое в историографии «удельной», «феодальной» или «политической раздробленностью» Древней Руси. Обращается внимание на отсутствие четкой терминологии в определении данного явления, различия в объяснении времени и причин его наступления и отсутствие
качественных различий между периодом раздробленности и предшествующим ему временем существования единого Древнерусского государства. Делается вывод о необходимости пересмотра распространенного в историографии противопоставления двух этих периодов, между которыми оказывается гораздо больше общего, нежели различий.

Estas ideas serán reflejadas a través de imágenes relacionadas inicialmente con el barbarismo e incluso el canibalismo y, posteriormente, en formas idealizadas y alegóricas. Nace así la imagen de América, inspirada en modelos clásicos, como una mujer acompañada de una serie de atributos que muestran conceptos y estereotipos del escenario americano según las épocas, los países y las modas.

Prezentowany tekst zawiera II część pierwszego polskiego przekładu słynnego renesansowego Dialogu o prawach władzy królewskiej u Szkotów (De iure regni apud Scotos dialogus) z 1579 r. autorstwa szkockiego humanisty oraz radykalnego monarchomachy George’a Buchanana. W tej części publikacji autor przedstawia swoją teorię tyranii, będącej przeciwieństwem opisanej w I części prawowitej władzy monarszej, jak również wskazuje zakres i podstawy prawa do oporu wobec tyrana naruszającego ład normatywny wspólnoty.

Bu makale, Antik Roma ve Helenistik dönemden başlayarak modern çağlara kadar geçen süreçte baba figürünün, kız çocuklarının davranışsal örüntülerinin şekillenişindeki dönüşümünü incelemektedir. Tarihsel, kültürel ve psikolojik perspektiflerin sentezinden hareketle, babaların otorite figürü, geçim sağlayıcı ve duygusal dayanak rolleri çerçevesinde; kız çocuklarının sosyal davranışları, benlik algıları ve toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri içselleştirmeleri üzerindeki etkisi çok yönlü olarak ele alınmaktadır. Çalışma, babalık olgusunun antik dönemdeki ataerkil tahakküm yapısından, çağdaş dönemde gözetici ve eşitlik temelli ebeveynlik anlayışına doğru evrilişini izlemekte; bu değişimin kız çocuklarının özerklik düzeyleri, özgüven gelişimi ve kişilerarası ilişkilerdeki tutumlarına olan yansımalarını analiz etmektedir. Özellikle baba figürünün yokluğu ya da işlevsiz oluşunun; manipülatif eğilimler, duygusal ve ilişkisel istikrarsızlık, partnerlerden babasal destek ve koşulsuz sevgi beklentisi, maddi güvence arayışı, yaşça büyük partner tercihleri, yaşına uygun olmayan duygusal olgunluk düzeyleri gibi davranışsal sapmalara neden olabileceği belirtilmektedir. Bunun yanında, heteronormatif olmayan cinsel yönelimler, erkek karşıtlığına dayalı (androfobik) tutumlar, cinsel sapkınlık gösteren bireylerle ilişkilenme eğilimleri, aşağılık kompleksi, narsistik davranış örüntüleri, materyalist eğilimler ve norm dışı cinsel yönelim biçimleri de bu bağlamda değerlendirilmiştir. Antik dönemden seçilmiş tarihsel örnekler, bu tür davranış kalıplarının günümüzdeki tezahürlerine tarihsel bir bağlam sunmak üzere kullanılmıştır. Tarihsel çözümleme ile çağdaş psikolojik literatürün disiplinlerarası entegrasyonu yoluyla, bu çalışma babalık figürünün zamansal ve kültürel bağlamlardaki sürekliliğini ve etkisini derinlemesine ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır.

Türk tarihinin en önemli devletlerinden olan ve ilk kez "Türk" adını taşıyan Gök-Türk Devleti, sanat tarihi açısından çok az incelenmiş bir dönemdir. Gök-Türklerin İstemi Kağan (552-576) yönetimiyle başlayan Batı kanadı hakimiyeti (552-709) ve bu dönemde Maveraünnehir bölgesinde yapılan sanat faaliyetleri, hem az incelenmiş hem de batılı tarihçi ve sanat tarihçiler tarafından "Türk" olarak adlandırılmamıştır. Bu makaledeki amacımız, Batı Gök-Türk Devleti'nin ve haleflerinin (I. ve II. Gök-Türk Devletleri arasındaki fetret devrinde sürekliliği korumuşlardır) hakimiyet dönemleri olan VI. ve VIII. yüzyıllar arasında Maveraünnehir bölgesinde bulunan Buhara Şehrine bağlı Varahşa yerleşim alanındaki Varahşa Sarayı'ndaki duvar resimlerini incelemektir. Bu inceleme sonunda Varahşa Sarayı duvar resimlerinin konulara göre sınıflandırılmasını yapmak, bu konular içerisindeki Türk kültürüne ait unsurları bulmak ve değerlendirmek hedeflenmektedir.

In this paper an attempt is being made in presenting the multilateral interest of Stefan Gajdov, who in the history of Macedonian music, based on the accessible archival materials and literature is observed as a composer, pedagogue, and an author of music textbooks, as well as a conductor and organizer of the music life in Macedonia. Based on our field research we get information for his project design skills, which result into the project of Lazar Gluškov home. .

The paper reassesses the largely neglected contribution of Avicenna (Ibn Sina; 980-1037) to medieval tajik-persian astronomy. Drawing on published primary and secondary sources, it reconstructs the main directions of his scientific activity: the construction of an observatory at Isfahan; the design of a high-precision angular instrument that anticipates the modern vernier principle; the formulation of an original method for determining terrestrial longitude from lunar culmination; a systematic refutation of predictive astrology; an optical explanation for the daytime invisibility of the fixed stars; and the earliest extant descriptions of both the transit of Venus on 24 May 1032 and the supernova SN 1006. These achievements not only anticipated comparable European advances by several centuries but also shaped subsequent developments within the Islamic and Latin astronomical traditions. The paper further notes Avicenna's modern scientific commemoration in the naming of asteroid (2755) Avicenna and the lunar crater Avicenna.

Sociologists have agreed that “social life” refers to all aspects of human activity, including sexual relations. But digging in the history of social life throughout the Mamlūk era shows great omission of these relations in sources and references. Thus, this research aims at gathering information scattered in different sources around the subject of intimate relations, and introducing it in an academic form that records for these relations which prevailed in Mamlūk society, beside their perceived impact on the political, economic and social development in Egypt and Levant, and illustrating the aspects of sexual relations among sultans, princes, and the rest of social classes.⁣

The fifth-century writer Patrick stands out for his positive view of the Irish and acceptance of their Christian identity. Unusually, he did not see conquest by the Roman empire, or subjection to the civilising influence of Latinate culture, as a precondition of conversion. By setting Ireland’s history in a biblical context, he challenged enduring imperial and prevailing Christian views of the barbaricum.
