Mental health disparities experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) people due to stigma and minority stress have received even less attention. The mental health of LGBTIQ people in Thailand is threatened by intersectional stigma and minority stress caused by actual and anticipated discrimination, ostracism, and violence. This chapter first discusses the cultural and historical context of Thailand and the emergence of its numerous LGBTIQ identities. Next, it describes the Thai context of mental health and LGBTIQ issues, including the stigma associated with each of these. The chapter explores conceptualizations of sexual orientation and gender identity, mental health, and cultural values that differ from those of many contexts in the Global North. Next, it describes common mental health problems and their multiple antecedents among LGBTIQ individuals in the Thai context. Finally, the chapter presents authors perspectives on implications for improving LGBTIQ mental health in Thailand.

O objetivo deste estudo é identificar e analisar
os indicadores de qualidade de vida e apoio/suporte social,
bem como os descritores do perfil utilizados por homens
de meia-idade que buscam e/ou se interessam por relações
com o mesmo sexo em plataformas digitais. O desenho
metodológico é de natureza quantitativa, descritiva de
corte transversal. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio
de um questionário sociodemográfico, o WHOQOLbref
e a Escala de Apoio Social do Medical Outcomes
Study (MOS). Os dados foram analisados com auxílio
do Statistical Package for the Social Sciences® (SPSS). Os
resultados confirmaram que os descritores mais prevalentes
foram aqueles que buscaram se desvencilhar de noções que
pudessem remeter ao universo da maturidade e velhice
fragilizadas, além do reforço às representações hegemônicas
de masculinidade. Em relação aos escores totais de apoio
social e qualidade de vida, estes apresentaram correlação
diretamente proporcional, significativa e de magnitude
moderada (rho = 0,609, p<0,001).

Focusing on Thailand, we give a historical overview of LGBT identities and issues, highlight psychological, psychiatric and nursing research on LGBT mental health and services, and review LGBT-related policy statements of professional associations and state-affiliated instances dealing with mental health. Our review demonstrates that stigma, victimisation and familial rejection in Thailand are linked to stress, depression,
substance use and suicidality among Thai LGBT people. Research has insufficiently covered transgender men, bisexuals and intersex people. Access to mental health services and their appropriateness are impeded by generic factors (e.g. overcrowded services, stigma, and confidentiality concerns) and low practitioner knowledge of LGBT issues, stereotyping of LGBT clients, and anticipation of practitioners not being accepting or understanding LGBT identities. LGBT-related policy statements have been issued by state-affiliated bodies,
but not by professional associations. While sometimes supportive, many policy documents have used stigmatising terminology and perpetuated anti-LGBT prejudice. LGBT-specific counselling and health services have been established, therapeutic strategies have been investigated and information on LGBT issues has been disseminated, but LGBT sensitivity remains to be mainstreamed in Thai health and counselling
services. Providing training on LGBT issues, publicising the Yogyakarta Principles and getting professional associations engaged with LGBT issues are among the ways forward.

Στην Έκθεση αυτή του έργου "Συμμετοχική Προσέγγιση για την Ευαισθητοποίηση και Καταπολέμηση των Διακρίσεων βάσει του Σεξουαλικού Προσανατολισμού και της Ταυτότητας Φύλου στον τομέα της υγείας - PARADISO" (με χρηματοδότηση της Γ.Γ. Έρευνας & Καινοτομίας, Κ/Ε 81012), επιχειρώ - μέσω ποιοτικής κοινωνιολογικής έρευνας πεδίου - να αναδείξω τις πιθανές προκλήσεις και τα εμπόδια που αντιμετώπισαν και αντιμετωπίζουν τα ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ άτομα στην Ελλάδα όσον αφορά την πρόσβασή τους στο εθνικό σύστημα υγείας και τη λήψη των υπηρεσιών υγείας κατά την περίοδο της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού Covid-19, καθώς και η ανάπτυξη ολοκληρωμένων προτάσεων πολιτικής προς τους αρμόδιους θεσμικούς φορείς για τη διασφάλιση της ισότιμης και απρόσκοπτης πρόσβασης τους σε ποιοτικές υπηρεσίες υγείας.
Ειδικότερα, στόχοι της έρευνας είναι, πρωτίστως μέσα από την διεξαγωγή ποιοτικής κοινωνιολογικής έρευνας και, δευτερευόντως, μέσω βιβλιογραφικής επισκόπησης:
- η διερεύνηση των αναγκών υγείας των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ ανθρώπων σε συνάρτηση με τον σεξουαλικό προσανατολισμό, την ταυτότητα ή τα χαρακτηριστικά φύλου τους και της πιθανής αλλαγής /μεταβολής αυτών κατά την διάρκεια της πανδημίας
- η διερεύνηση της πρόσβασης των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ ανθρώπων στο εθνικό σύστημα υγείας και στη χρήση των υπηρεσιών του πριν και κατά τη διάρκεια της πανδημίας, ο εντοπισμός πιθανών διαφορών στην προπανδημική και στην πανδημική περίοδο, καθώς και των πιθανών κενών και προκλήσεων στην πρόσβαση των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ ανθρώπων σε υπηρεσίες υγείας κατά την πανδημική περίοδο
- η διερεύνηση της ανταπόκρισης του ελληνικού κράτους (αλλά και φορέων της κοινωνίας των πολιτών και του ιδιωτικού τομέα υγείας) στην κρίση δημόσιας υγείας, εστιάζοντας στην κάλυψη των αναγκών υγείας των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ ατόμων και η συλλογή βέλτιστων πρακτικών, θετικών μέτρων ή πρωτοβουλιών (αν υπάρχουν) - τόσο από το κράτος όσο και από φορείς της κοινωνίας των πολιτών και τον ιδιωτικό τομέα – αναφορικά με την παροχή υπηρεσιών υγείας σε ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ άτομα κατά τη διάρκεια της πανδημίας στην Ελλάδα
- η ανάπτυξη στοχευμένων προτάσεων πολιτικής με βάση τα ευρήματα της έρευνας πεδίου, για την διασφάλιση της απρόσκοπτής και ισότιμης πρόσβασης και μεταχείρισης των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ ανθρώπων στο εθνικό σύστημα υγείας - και, ευρύτερα, σε υπηρεσίες υγείας - τόσο κατά την περίοδο της πανδημίας όσο και όταν αυτή θα έχει πλέον τελειώσει.

The research project involved conducting a case study analysis of the needs of SSAGD (same-sex attracted and gender diverse) young people of multicultural and multifaith (MCMF) backgrounds, and how these needs can be addressed by government, and by their cultural and religious communities.

Thanasis Theofilopoulos (Symplexis) and Victoria Topalidi (Universal Training) conducted a research in order to identify the multiple challenges and inequalities LGBTQI+ people have faced in Greece during the Covid-19 pandemic as well as to assess the training needs of professionals/support services providers working in the field and collect best practices and initiatives implemented in the country.
The research was conducted in the framework of the Erasmus+ “RAINBO – Raising the Digital Literacy of Professionals to Address Inequalities and Exclusion of LGBTQI+ Community” project whose main aim is to build the capacity of support services providers in order to be able to provide their services remotely during a time of crisis (like the Covid-19 pandemic) while responding efficiently to the needs of LGBTQI+ people.

Researched and presented findings on the relationship between intersectional identities within the LGBTQ+ community (e.g. distinguishing between L, G, B, and T populations) and the health disparity mitigation caused by the presence of parental support.
Findings: Queer women found to receive less parental support than queer men; bisexual people found to receive less parental support than gay people; transgender people found to receive less support than sexual minority people; transgender non-binary people (trans but not men or women) found to receive less parental support than transgender binary people (trans men and trans women). Health disparities found to be mitigated against with presence of parental support in all cases; sometimes to the level of the general population. Absence of parental support in LGBTQ+ people in their youth found to negatively effect their health for the rest of their lives.

Project culminated with research poster presentation at CDC headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

An opportunity to bring together four pieces from four renowned Australian academic-activists that specifically address how social, political, legal, religious, health, educational and cultural systems and their institutions impact on the health and well-being, human rights and sexual citizenship of multicultural-multifaith (MCMF) LGBTIQ individuals, families and communities. We use the term academic-activists deliberately as these
four contributors theorise, analyse and take action in health, law, education and religion.
Thus, in addressing the intersectionality of identities and positionalities, the contributors present papers that intersect with and border academic theory, research, community engagement, policy and programme implementation, and personal reflection. Thus, the purpose of the four contributions in this Special Section are to develop an understanding of:
. the perspectives, realities and needs of MCMF LGBTIQ subjects and how health, legal, educational and religious systems and institutions are culpable in their invisibilisation, marginalisation and invalidation;
. future recognition, and directions in policies, resourcing and strategies in these four institutions that would improve the health and well-being of MCMF LGBTIQ subjects, their families and communities; and
. agentic strategies of resistance, reconstruction and self-determination transforming MCMF LGBTIQ subjectivities

The human rights of both LGBTIQ+ and Indigenous peoples are far from realized. When conjoined, intersecting identities reveal how racism and queer phobia affect well-being, negating the right to health and resulting in devastating impacts on people’s social, cultural, and emotional well-being. This paper documents the lived experiences of a sample of young gender- and sexuality-diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from a research project conducted in New South Wales, Australia. Their perspectives reveal how, for this cohort, discrimination and privation is manifest at the family, community, and institutional levels. This paper informs an understanding of human rights as experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQ+-identified peoples, where racism and queer phobia are evident in the spheres of education, employment, and service provision. Adopting a critical human rights stance, our analysis illustrates how settler colonialism manifests through the processes and outcomes of settler colonial institutions and structures.

This summary research report briefly presents the main findings of my desk and field (personal interviews with relevant stakeholders, experts etc. including representatives of Greek LGBTQI+ organizations) survey conducted in Greece for the purposes of the Project "PARADISO" (funded by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, K/E 81012) during February and March 2022 regarding LGBTQI+ people and health sector in Greece before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.
