Contemporary Novel

“Cam Kent” ve “Hayaletler” adlı eserlerinde olduğu gibi, Paul Auster “Kilitli Oda”da da birçok metinlerarası unsura yer vermiştir. “Kilitli Oda”da diğer iki hikâyeye benzer bir şekilde anlatıcı dedektif görmekteyiz. Anlatıcı dedektif firari bir yazarın peşine düşmektedir. Diğer hikâyelere paralel bir biçimde vakayı aydınlatmak için yazarın geçmişini araştırır. Bu araştırma peşine düşülen kişinin yazar olması nedeniyle edebi bir analize ve dolayısıyla bir metinlerarası dokunun oluşmasına neden olur. Bir esere üstkurgusallık kazandıran bazı temel öğretiler vardır. Bunların başında zaten kendisi kurmaca olan bir eserin başka bir kurmaca üzerine inşa edilmesidir. “New York Üçlemesi” olarak da bilinen serinin üçüncü kitabı olan “Kilitli Oda” adlı roman, anlatıcının; Fanshawe’un notlarını, mektuplarını, eserlerini ve kırmızı defterini kurgulaması üzerinedir. Bu durum eserin pek çok yerinde yazma edinimi ve yazma öyküsü biçimlerinde okuyucuya aktarılmaktadır. Eserde ön plana çıkan iki karakterin de yazar olması ve onların yazma deneyimlerinin aktarılması üstkurmacayı sağlayan ana unsurlardan birisidir. Anlatıcı eserin birçok yerinde yazma edinimi ve serüveni hakkında yorumlarda bulunmaktadır. Çalışmada Paul Auster’ın seçilmesinde öne çıkan unsurlar arasında sadece anlatılarında uyguladığı postmodern unsurlar değil, dil kullanımında öncü bir yazar olarak da görülmesidir. Auster, klasik dedektif romanlarını ve onların ritüellerinin parodisini postmodern bir anlayışla yazmıştır. Ayrıca eserlerinde yer alan otobiyografik unsurlar da dikkat çekicidir. Çalışmada metne bağlı inceleme ve pozitivist yöntem kullanılmıştır. Pozitivist yöntemde yazarın hayatının esere yansımaları sorgulanır. Çalışmada metinlerarasılık ve üstkurmaca unsurlarını tespit etmek için yazarın hayatına dair unsurlar kilit rol oynamaktadır. Yazarın üstkurmacayı sağlamak için başvurduğu oyunsu dil yapısından dolayı da metin merkezli bir incelemeye de tabii tutulması gerekmiştir.

Kübalı yazar Alejo Carpentier, 1956 yılında kaleme aldığı El acoso isimli kısa romanında müzik ile edebiyat arasında özgün bir diyalog kurar. Anlatı biçimi ve içerik bağlamında, Beethoven’ın 1803 yılında bestelediği Eroica (Üçüncü Senfoni) adlı eserinin yapısıyla paralel bir kurgu geliştirir. Bu çalışmada medyalararasılık kavramından ve Steven Paul Scher’in edebiyat ve müzik ilişkileri sınıflandırmasından yola çıkılarak, özellikle de müzikal bir yapı olan senfoninin edebiyata aktarımı merkeze alınacak ve yazar olmasının yanı sıra müzikologda olan Carpentier’in edebiyat ve müziği El acoso romanında nasıl bir araya getirdiği incelenecektir. Romanın yapısı Eroica’nın dört bölümlük senfoni formunu yansıtır ve anlatı, senfoninin dramatik kurgusuna koşut olarak ilerler: Allegro, Marcia funebre, Scherzo ve Finale bölümleri romanın iç yapısında karşılık bulur. Böylece zaman algısı, gerginlik düzeyi ve olayların seyri müziksel ritimle senkronize bir biçimde yapılandırılır. Kahramanlık miti, ölüm ve zaman gibi temalar, Beethoven’ın senfonisinde olduğu gibi, Carpentier’in romanında da merkezî birer anlatı ögesine dönüşür. Müzik, kurgunun oluşturulması açısından büyük önem taşır ve müzik sisteminin yapıları, gerçek anlamda kullanılır. Bu inceleme, El acoso romanında senfonik yapının edebi kurguyla nasıl bütünleştiğini ve bu yapı üzerinden edebiyat-müzik ilişkisinin metin düzeyinde nasıl yansıtıldığını ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır.

Quando gli scienziati misero dei topi in isolamento completo, gli animali svilupparono comportamenti nevrotici, depressione e alla fine morirono prematuramente. This chapter reads Aleksandar Hemon's 2008 novel "The Lazarus Project" as revealing globalisation--the dominant force that determines and shapes the contemporary transmodern present--to be necessarily split in its consequences. It suggests that despite the ease with which some peoples across the globe can criss-cross through national and international boundaries, for most of the world's population, migration continues to be an extremely painful and difficult accomplishment. Hemon's novel utilises various narrative techniques such as juxtaposition, irony, intertextuality, and inter-mediality to establish resonances between early 20th-century Chicago and post-9/11 New York. The chapter close reads these techniques to argue that they make "The Lazarus Project" itself stand at the very limits of the textual, temporal, and spatial so as to make a significant political intervention in the transmodern present.

Roman şiirleşme sürecine edebiliği yakalamak amacıyla girerken, öykü zaten kendisi bir düzyazı şiir olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Modern öykünün babası olarak görülen E.A. Poe'nun yanında Gogol'ün öykülerinin de imgeselliğe baş vurmaları, yine türün önemli temsilcileri olan Çehov ve Mauppasant'ın insanın kendisi ve toplumla olan mücadelesini "bilen" değil "bilmeyen" bir tavırla anlatması, öykünün "bir başka lisan"la konuştuğunun ve şiirselliğinin kanıtları olarak yorumlanabilir.

Negli ultimi decenni, il romanzo di famiglia ha assunto un ruolo centrale nella narrativa italiana iper-contemporanea, evolvendosi attraverso un costante dialogo con altri generi e modalità narrative. Questo studio si propone di esaminare La più amata (2017) di Teresa Ciabatti e Niente di vero (2022) di Veronica Raimo, due romanzi rappresentativi di questa trasformazione, soffermandosi sulla loro intersezione con l'autofiction e il romanzo di formazione. Attraverso una prospettiva comparatistica, l'articolo esplora le strategie di rappresentazione dell'identità familiare, la tensione tra realtà e finzione, la frammentarietà della narrazione e la sovversione della linearità del percorso di formazione di un personaggio. Il family novel italiano iper-contemporaneo si configura così non solo come un luogo di riflessione critica sui legami identitari e genealogici, ma anche come un terreno di sperimentazione letteraria, attraverso il quale indagare la commistione tra i generi e la fluidità dei loro confini.

Ricardo Güiraldes has often been interpreted as one of the most important representatives of Latin American regionalist (or telluric) literature. Nevertheless, his famous novel entitled Don Segundo Sombra (1926) can and should be read as an excellent example of modernist fiction, expressing its author's desire to depict a young man's initiation, but at the same time to analyze his evolution in the permanent effort to become not only a better expression of himself, but also a person capable to write down his own story. The mere act of living in the vast Argentinean pampa is thus symbolically doubled by the protagonist's lucid meditation on the implications of the activity of writing, the initially modest gaucho becoming a respected author expressing the novelist's own experience and complex process of initiation.

Book Review: A “Carnivalesque” system critique: Yarabıçak_______Ömer Faruk’s book of essays called Yarabıçak is a journey of thought that progresses towards the roots, starting points, or in other words, the beginnings of the “system” we are currently in, by untangling all the ties and connections. In addition, it is a text that challenges and “violates” formal and generic boundaries. It is an example of thinking about the point that humanity has reached today, on the one hand with what humans have done in terms of culture and history, and on the other hand with “one-man regimes” in terms of politics.______________________________________________________________Özet: Ömer Faruk'un Yarabıçak adlı deneme kitabı, şu an içinde bulunduğumuz “sistem”in kök(en)lerine, başlangıç noktalarına, başka bir deyişle ilklere doğru, tüm bağları-bağlantıları çözerek ilerleyen bir düşünce yolculuğu. Bunun yanı sıra biçimsel ve türsel sınırları da zorlayan, “ihlal eden” bir metin. İnsanoğlunun bugün geldiği noktayı, bir yandan kültür ve tarih ekseninde İnsan'ın yapıp ettikleriyle, bir yandan da siyaset ekseninde “tek adam rejimleri”yle birlikte düşünmenin bir örneği.

O ensaio A Carícia e o Gume propõe uma leitura simbólica e junguiana da relação entre Ney Matogrosso e seu pai, com base em sua autobiografia Vira-Lata de Raça e na cinebiografia Homem com H, dirigida por Esmir Filho. Através de mitologemas e arquétipos, o texto estrutura a narrativa em três fases: repressão e dor na infância, ruptura e individuação na juventude, e, por fim, reconciliação e integração simbólica na maturidade. Ney, filho de um militar rígido, representa o filho que rompe com a sombra paterna para construir uma identidade própria — estética, sexual e existencial —, ressignificando o ódio como amor incubado. O ensaio evoca arquétipos das religiões afro-brasileiras — Exu, Ogum, Oxalufã e Obaluaiê — para iluminar simbolicamente essa travessia, do silêncio à palavra, da cisão ao perdão. O gesto de beijar o pai moribundo configura-se como rito de passagem, marcando a reintegração do pai humano à psique do filho. Ao tocar o pai com a lâmina da verdade e a carícia do perdão, Ney transforma o trauma em potência criadora. O ensaio propõe que, ao beijarmos simbolicamente nossos mortos, podemos nos libertar dos complexos herdados e nos tornarmos inteiros — filhos que finalmente se tornam quem são.

Tamamlayıcı olması bakımından yazarın diğer eseri Pend-nâme'deki otobiyografisi de konuya dâhil edilmiştir.

This study examines Mohsin Hamid’s novel Exit West (2017), from the perspective of social penetration theory. The prime focus is Saeed and Nadia's relationship, they grow closer in the beginning of their relationship by sharing personal thoughts, experiences, comfort, and security, but once they start migrating through the magical doors, their relationship disrupts and weakens, which underline their emotional transition with physical movements, as they confront external upheavals and internal vulnerabilities, ultimately lead to the social depenetration. Using the lens of Social Penetration Theory given by Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor in 1973, which is based on the notion that every relationship develops through the gradual process of reciprocal self-disclosure and moves into a deeper level of intimacy by covering the different stages to reach intimacy. Moreover, the study examines how the novel offers a unique application of the given theory by shedding light on the challenging environment for maintaining intimacy in a fragmented world. The study follows a qualitative method with a descriptive and interpretive approach with thematic encoding. The findings of this study will help future researchers to expand the scope of this theory in a broader context.

This chapter demonstrates a connection between depictions of children's agency and the undoing of form in Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli's essay "Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions" (2017) and her novel "Lost Children Archive" (2019). Luiselli's essay and novel, Thakur observes, overtly refuse the conventions of their respective genres. Such an undoing of form and genre, he posits, stems from the attempt to represent the experiences of child refugees, specifically unaccompanied minors attempting to cross the US-Mexico border. Crucially, he emphasizes, form is not a given but a potential that manifests as it comes into being, conjured when a plot has come to its conclusion.

A partir del último discurso de Salvador Allende, donde se representa el golpe de estado de 1973 como un gran acto de traición, se analiza un conjunto de novelas de escritores pertenecientes a tres de las últimas generaciones literarias del país. La historia, entendida como un discurso que se le ofrece a cada ciudadano, se percibe como traidora, en la medida que decepciona el sentido de identidad nacional, las utopías históricas o la memoria.

In the literary works of Greek author Angela Dimitrakaki, the idea of displacement as a contemporary Wanderlust is often found at the centre of the plot, acting both as a narrative mechanism and as an account of Gen X’s coming of age, growing older and experiencing life in an era of late capitalism. Dimitrakaki’s characters often reject what is socially and politically expected of them, including the pressure to work and/or to gestate. Their melancholy within a globalised world often contradicts with their individual privileges and academic knowledge, whilst events shape their outlook and conscious political praxis. This article intends to study the characters’ rejection of late capitalism as a conscious choice realised through the state of being on the road, the construction of alternative spaces, and mental exercises in three of Dimitrakaki’s novels, written in three different periods: Antarctica (1997), The Manifesto of Defeat (2007), and Aeroplast (2015). More specifically, I wish to examine the political praxis of these characters in relation to escapism, Boym’s concept of “diasporic intimacy”, Benjamin’s “Angel of History”, and Foucault’s heterotopias, with an emphasis on episodes stressing the collective trauma of the 20th century and the threat of the far-right.
 
Dans les travaux littéraires de la romancière grecque Angela Dimitrakaki, l’idée du déplacement comme un Wanderlust contemporain se trouve souvent au centre de la narration, fonctionnant à la fois comme un mécanisme narratif et comme le récit de la génération X, de sa jeunesse et âge adulte aussi bien que ses expériences au sein du capitalisme tardif. Les personnages de Dimitrakaki rejettent d’ailleurs les attentes sociales et politiques, y compris la pression de travailler et/ou d’avoir des enfants. Leur mélancolie dans ce monde globalisé se met souvent aux antipodes de leurs privilèges personnels et connaissances académiques, alors que des événements sculptent leurs opinions et leur praxis politique consciente. Cet article entend étudier les manières dont les personnages rejettent le capitalisme tardif à travers leur décision d’être toujours en mouvement, la construction des autres espaces et certains exercices mentaux dans trois romans de Dimitrakaki, composés pendant trois périodes différentes : Antarctique (1997), Le manifeste de la défaite, et Aéroplast (2015). Plus spécifiquement, je souhaite examiner la praxis politique de ces personnages par rapport à leur fuite du réel, le concept de l’intimité diasporique proposé par Boym, l’Ange de l’Histoire tel qu’il fut conçu par Benjamin, et les hétérotopies foucaldiennes, tout en mettant l’accent sur certains épisodes qui explorent le trauma collectif du 20ème siècle et la menace de l’extrême droite.

Özet Antroposen Çağ'da insan faaliyetlerinin gezegen üzerindeki belirleyici etkisi, ekolojik krizleri ve bu krizlerin kültürel temsillerini anlamayı zorunlu kılmaktadır. Sinema, bu temsillerin üretildiği ve toplumsal kaygıların yansıtıldığı önemli bir kültürel alan olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, Greg Garrard'ın ekoeleştiri alanına kazandırdığı ''pollution (kirlilik)'', ''wilderness (vahşi Doğa)'', ''apocalypse (kıyamet)'', ''dwelling (mesken)'' ve ''animals (hayvanlar)'' gibi temel kavramsal araçlar önem kazanmaktadır. Böylelikle çalışma, Garrard'ın kavramsal çerçevesini temel alarak Antroposen dönemi sinemasını analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın temel hedefi, bu kavramların çağdaş film anlatılarında nasıl işlendiğini incelemek ve sinemanın Antroposen gerçekliğini ve kaygılarını nasıl yansıttığını, sorguladığını ya da pekiştirdiğini Garrard'ın yaklaşımı çerçevesinde ortaya koymaktır. Bu hedef doğrultusunda, çalışmada nitel araştırma deseni benimsenmiş ve yöntem olarak metinsel film analizi kullanılmıştır. Antroposen Çağ'ın belirginleştiği 21. yüzyılda üretilmiş, farklı tür ve coğrafyalardan seçilen filmler, Garrard'ın beş anahtar kavramı doğrultusunda sistematik bir şekilde çözümlenmiştir. Yapılan analizler, filmlerin anlatısal yapıları, görsel dilleri, karakter gelişimleri ve tematik örüntülerinin ekolojik bağlamda nasıl anlamlar inşa ettiğine odaklanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, Garrard'ın kavramlarının çağdaş sinemada oldukça yaygın ve sıklıkla iç içe geçmiş biçimlerde temsil edildiği ortaya konmuştur. Antroposen bağlamında ''vahşi doğa''nın genellikle tehdit altında veya kaybedilmiş olarak, ''kıyamet''in ani olaylardan ziyade süregelen krizler şeklinde, ''kirlilik''in ise sistemik ve küresel ölçekte işlendiği gözlemlenmiştir; benzer şekilde, ''mesken'' temasının prekarite ve adaptasyonla, ''hayvanlar'' temasının ise yok oluş ve türler arası sınırların bulanıklaşmasıyla karakterize olduğu bulgulanmıştır ve filmlerin, Antroposen'in yarattığı belirsizlik ve kaygıları müzakere eden kültürel alanlar olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışma, Greg Garrard'ın ekoeleştirel yaklaşımının Antroposen Çağ sinemasındaki karmaşık ekolojik temaları çözümlemek için son derece etkili ve geçerli bir analitik çerçeve sunduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu yöntem, filmlerin gezegenle kurduğumuz ilişkiyi ve ekolojik krizleri anlamlandırma biçimimizi yansıtan ve şekillendiren güçlü kültürel metinler olduğunu göstermektedir.

Éthique et littérature aujourd'hui est le livre issu du colloque portant sur le même sujet qui a eu lieu en mars 2023 à l'Université de Strasbourg. Il se compose de quatorze articles qui cherchent à comprendre l'évolution présente des relations entre éthique et littérature. Si le Tournant éthique marquait un nouvel intérêt critique pour les enjeux éthiques de la littérature, cet intérêt touche désormais tous les médias et porte à reconsidérer le statut de l'auteur, la valeur de l'oeuvre et les conditions de sa réception. Le présent ouvrage invite le lecteur à retracer l'histoire de cette mutation, et à considérer en quoi les éthiques du care ont changé notre rapport à la littérature.

Resumo: A literatura é povoada de criaturas fabulosas, mas, na literatura francesa, Melusina tem um lugar de destaque. Personagem mitológica, de forma híbrida, ligada ao elemento água, metade mulher, metade serpente ou próxima à sereia, suas origens precedem, provavelmente, a chegada dos romanos no território francês. No século XI, tornou-se lenda fundadora de Poitou-comuna medieval francesa-e da família Lusignan. Por volta de 1400, Jean D'Arras e Couldrette transformaram a lenda oral em romance e tornaram Melusina ainda mais popular na França. Por meio de sua presença em Nadja, narrativa poética do surrealista André Breton escrita em 1927, e com o apoio dos estudos de Bachelard sobre a água, investigaremos a atualidade do mito e as questões que ele evoca: a ambivalência, a permeabilidade entre o desconhecido e o conhecido, o bem e o mal, o aquático e o terrestre, o imaginário individual e o coletivo, e como esses aspectos estão relacionados ao elemento água e a potência do feminino.

Cet article étudie le jardin en tant qu’utopie écologique dans le roman d’Alice Zeniter Comme un empire dans un empire (2020) en le juxtaposant avec le non-lieu de l’internet et la métropole parisienne. Tous ces espaces jouent un rôle de catalyseur dans la vie des deux protagonistes du roman, L, une hackeuse qui cherche un abri à la Vieille Ferme, une communauté écologique autonome inspirée par la tradition politique utopique, et Antoine, assistant d’un député du Parti Socialiste. Situé dans un contexte marqué par les violences contre les femmes, le mouvement des gilets jaunes et la menace de la crise climatique, le roman de Zeniter aborde la question de la lutte politique et ses formes différentes. Inspiré, entre autres, par les travaux de Michel Foucault, de Fredric Jameson et de Herbert Marcuse, notre article examine cetteuestion par rapport aux espaces complémentaires de l’utopie (ou hétérotopie) écologique, de la métropole parisienne et de l’internet, tels qu’ils sont représentés dans un roman ultracontemporain racontant les expériences des plus jeunes générations.

Los escenarios del pasado mexicano y la recuperación de temas históricos son una constante en la novelística de Carmen Boullosa. Sus novelas Son vacas, somos puercos: filibusteros del mar de Caribe (1991), El médico de los piratas: bucaneros y filibusteros del mar del Caribe (1992), Llanto: Novelas imposibles (1992), Duerme (1994), Cielos de la tierra (1997) y Las paredes hablan (2010) retoman espacios del territorio mexicano y de sus mares, al respecto la escritora nos dice: "Empecé a trabajar con personajes históricos porque no me quería repetir, porque buscaba otras riquezas, otros retos formales, por una curiosidad intelectual, por una curiosidad política" (Hind, 2003, p. 24). Sus otras novelas De un salto descabalga la reina (2002), La otra mano de Lepanto (2005), El Velázquez de París (2007), La virgen y el violín (2008) y El complot de los románticos (2009) transcurren en medio de guerras, estudios de pintura y salones situados en los siglos I a.n.e. en el Antiguo Egipto, y los siglos XVI, XVII y XIX de la historia europea. Edebiyat, büyük bir çalışma alanı olarak yazarların deney odalarıyla dolu, farklı denemeler, yanılmalar, düşmeler ve çıkmalarla dolu çetrefilli bir yolculuğun adıdır. Yazar ve şairler, edebiyat alanında eserler üretirken yaşadığı olay ve olgularla birlikte duygu ve düşüncelerini de bu alana dâhil ederler. Bu bakımdan edebiyat, hayatın kendisini kendisine odak noktası seçmiş, kurgu da olsa gerçeklikler üzerinden hareket eden, hayata karşı bir duruş ve düşünce biçiminin geliştirildiği yegâne alanlardan biridir. Edebiyat, çoğu zaman bir yaşam biçimi olarak da ele alınabilir. Çünkü yazar ve şairler, yazacakları yahut anlatıya konu edinecekleri unsurları hayatın içinden seçip çıkartırlar. Burada hayatı bir olgular bütünlüğü olarak da ele alabiliriz. Fakat farklı bakış açılarıyla hayatı kategorize edebiliriz. Bunlar sosyal, kültürel, dini, ekonomik, psikolojik, sosyolojik vb. gibi gözlüklerle hayata baktığımızda gözlüğümüze uygun unsurları seçip çıkartmamız çok kolay olacaktır. İzlemeyi ve okumayı bilen herkes için bu unsurlar birer yöntemdir. Edebiyat bu yöntemlerin hepsini içerisine dâhil edebilecek bir usulü kendisiyle birlikte ortaya çıkartır. Bu bakımdan edebî eserler, çok yönlü irdelemeye müsait veriler sunmaktadır. Edebî eserlerin bu yönü, çeşitli çalışma alanlarını doğurarak, farklı çalışmaların yapılmasına kapı aralamıştır. Örneğin edebiyat sosyolojisi, edebiyat psikolojisi, dilbilim, toplumsal dilbilim vs. gibi alanlar edebiyatın araladığı kapıdan sızarak, edebî eserlerde söz konusu edilen konular hakkında kendi anabilim dalı üzerinden genişlemelerle edebiyatı masaya yatırır. Bu durum edebiyatın da yararına olur, edebiyat, salt edebî bir unsur olmaktan kurtulur, ona yeni ufuklar açar. Edebiyat, insanlık için bütünlüklü bir tarihin anlatısıdır. Anlatının belirli bir düzen ve kurgu içerisinde kurulması edebiyatın ilk örneklerini ortaya çıkarırken, dinleme becerilerinin de yerleşmesine katkı sunmaktadır. Edebiyat, tamamen bir anlatıdır demek bu bakımdan hiç de yanıltıcı bir bilgi olmayacaktır. Çünkü insanlar her daim birbirine bir şeyleri anlatmıştır. Sözlü anlatı biçimlerinden yazılı anlatı biçimlerine geçişler uzun sürse de anlatı, kendi varlığını her daim devam ettirmiştir. Edebiyat, bir şeyleri anlatma ihtiyacının sanata bürünmüş hali, belirli temalar ekseninde irdelenmesinin neticesidir. Anlatıyı bir bağ olarak alırsak, dünya edebiyatı da bu bağ etrafında sımsıkı kenetlenmektedir.

У раду се анализира романсијерски опус Драгана Великића, почевши од његових раних романа са краја осамдесетих и почетка деведесетих година (Via Pula, Астраган), све до његових познијих и рецентнијих остварења настајалих у првој и другој деценији двадесет и првог века. Рани Великићеви романи сагледавају се у оквиру тзв. „младе српске прозе“, односно вида постмодернистичке поетике која је у нашој књижевности током осамдесетих и почетком деведесетих заузимала значајно место. Након ових раних прозних остварења прате се поетичке промене у наредним Великићевим романима (Северни зид, Дантеов трг, Случај Бремен), начини напуштања младопрозаистичке поетике и њихово отварање ка актуелним друштвеним темама. Великићеви романи настајали на размеђу прве и друге деценија двадесет и првог века виде се као наративи у којима централну улогу игра феномен сећања(Досије Домашевски, Руски прозор, Bonavia, Иследник).

The present discussion focuses on a reconfiguration influenced by
regional space, incorporating concepts such as ‘magical realism.’
Various narrative forms that fulfill specific criteria have been
analyzed to elucidate the framing of fiction under the
encompassing paradigm of this perspective. Our thesis posits
that magical realism has become indigenized within the Balkan
context, resulting in fiction that carries distinct national and
transnational implications. A particularly relevant example used
to illustrate the viability of Balkan World Literature is Danilo
Kiš’s work, specifically Encyclopaedia of the Dead, alongside
Ștefan Bănulescu’s Book of Metopolis, which collectively provide

Sanatkâr; dili, kelime düzeneğini, metinlerarası bağlantıları, postmodern edebiyatın getirdiği yenilikleri kendi kelimeleriyle birleştirerek anlatıyı bütünleyen yapıları ustaca kullanır. Kış Bahçesi romanının entrik kurgusu postmodern yapısıyla, çok katmanlı biçimde şekillenir. Eserin alt metindeki kodları okuru da kurguya dâhil eder. İç içe geçen helezonik olay örgüsünü, zamansal sıçramaları, mekânsal değişimleri, bilinç akışını ve birçok anlatım tekniğini barındıran eser, bireyin iletişimsizlik ile gerçekleşen kendine ve toplumuna yabancılaşmasını konu edinir. Bu çalışmada, Kış Bahçesi romanı yapı, izleksel kurgu, dil, üslûp ve anlatım teknikleri bakımından tahlil edilerek metnin anlam katmanları açıklanacaktır. Böylece eserin görüngülediği kişiler vasıtasıyla bireyin kendinden başlayarak çevresine ve yaşam evrenine tutunma çabası ortaya çıkarılacaktır.

Смрт блиске особе важи за један од типичних узрока трауме, а тематизовање одговора на њу, као и сећањa на преминулог, посебно је осетљиво у литератури намењеној младој читалачкој публици. Отуда је циљ рада да, на корпусу одабраних савремених романа за младе, покаже главна мотивска и проблемска средишта у обликовању наведених тема, те да потом на темељима пружене анализе упути на поједине могућности методички заснованог дијалога о њима. Анализа књижевних дела је посведочила присуство широког спектра емоција и понашања као одговора на смрт блиске особе, а уз њих и комплексно представљање квалитета сећања и његовог интегрисања у животно искуство јунака. Такав, садржајан уметнички говор о одговорима на смрт, о природи памћења и значају заборава, отвара простор за различите методичке приступе – тумачење засновано на доминантном лику, компаративну тематско-мотивску интерпретацију, проблемски засновану дискусију, као и истраживање засновано на корелацијско-интеграцијском методичком моделу – било у оквирима редовне наставе, било у формату факултативних радионица. // The death of a close person is considered one of the typical causes of trauma, and the thematization of the response to it, as well as memories of the deceased, is particularly sensitive in literature intended for young readers. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to identify the main motivational and problem-oriented centers in the formation of the aforementioned topics on the basis of a selected corpus of contemporary young-adult novels. An analysis of literary works has confirmed the presence of a broad spectrum of emotions and behavior as responses to the death of a close person, as well as a complex representation of memories and their integration into the life experience of the literary characters. Such content-rich artistic discourse on responses to death, the nature of memory, and the significance of forgetting opens up space for various methodological approaches—interpretation based on the dominant character, comparative thematic and motivational interpretation, problem-based discussion, as well as research based on the correlation-integration methodological model—whether within the frameworks of regular classes or in the format of optional workshops.

Neste artigo, objetivo mostrar como no conto,  S un ( O Sol ), o autor parece convidar o leitor ao descentramento e a critica a aspectos dos habitos e do estilo de vida urbanos cultivados na sociedade ocidental capitalista em contraposicao a uma valorizacao de uma vida proxima a natureza, cujos elementos teriam o poder de curar e transformar o ser humano. Segundo estudos criticos sobre Lawrence, cf., por exemplo, Carter; McRae (1995), ele passou grande parte de sua vida fora da Inglaterra, onde teve varias de suas obras censuradas; alem disso, Smith (2002) mostra como e possivel encontrar, na producao literaria lawrenciana, sinais de valorizacao de culturas vitimas do imperialismo europeu. O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar o modo como a escrita ensaística do escritor português José Saramago se aproxima das teorias sobre o gênero ensaio, desenvolvidas pelo filósofo Michel de Montaigne. A ligação de Saramago com Montaigne aparece pulverizada por toda obra saramaguiana e, por isso, será necessário lançar uma visão panorâmica sobre suas ideias, traçando um percurso para chegar ao romance Manual de pintura e caligrafia (1977). Pretende-se discutir os indícios do viés ensaístico, ou seja, aquele tipo de escrita consciente do ofício do escritor e do ato de escrever e que deixa transparecer na própria escrita, de forma metalinguística, essa consciência, pelo fato de colocar em foco a construção da criação literária. José Saramago constrói uma reflexão intrínseca a sua escrita que faz com que o escritor discuta, profunda e seriamente, o ofício e a responsabilidade de lidar com as palavras, ensaiando uma tentativa de compreender o mundo que o rodeia e como ele interage com o mundo, ao mesmo tempo em que compõe sua prosa de ficção.

Privită uneori cu acea curiozitate pe care europenii o manifestă față de numeroase aspecte ale culturii asiatice, iar alteori citită exclusiv prin raportare la grila exotismului, literatura japoneză contemporană rămâne una dintre experiențele şi, deopotrivă, provocările estetice ce marchează secolul XX. Fenomenul e cu atât mai dificil de abordat, cu cât cititorul tinde să aibă în vedere exclusiv vârfurile sau petele de culoare-locală şi nu numai. Astfel, este amintit frecvent Yasunari Kawabata, "ultimul nume mare" în ceea ce priveşte atitudinea față de tradiția niponă, cel ajuns rapid la celebritatea mondială după încununarea operei sale cu Premiul Nobel pentru Literatură în anul 1968, la exact o sută de ani de la începutul Epocii Meiji (perioada deschiderii către cultura occidentală). Alteori, scriitorii aduşi în discuție de către cei pasionați de universul japonez au fost cei definiți, în timpul vieții, prin atitudinile lor şocante sau, în orice caz, neobişnuite ori mai greu de înțeles în adevăratele lor implicații de către cititorul occidental. De pildă, acțiunile şi modul de viață al lui Yukio Mishima, "ultimul samurai al literaturii japoneze", au părut uneori a-i umbri activitatea, receptată, în unele cercuri, mai ales prin prisma unora dintre discursurile sale sau a suicidului care a produs atâta tulburare în anul 1970 2. Alături de alți scriitori, precum Haruki Murakami, Hiromi Kawakami, Banana Yoshimoto sau Natsuo Kirino, reprezentând noua generație a literaturii nipone, Yōko Ogawa continuă, pe de o parte, strălucita linie a prozei de atmosferă (situată, în mare măsură, în descendența lui Kawabata), dar și pe cea a narațiunii apropiate de tehnicile modernității occidentale, după modelul impus de Mishima. Născută în anul 1962, la Okayama, și impusă rapid atenției publicului cititor japonez și occidental, Ogawa a creat, în toate textele sale, schițe ale unor relații interumane complicate, ale căror secrete sunt, adesea, doar sugerate, iar nu rostite până la capăt, și a căror profunzime trebuie intuită de cititorul ce rămâne captiv în mrejele unei scriituri delicate și hipnotice, având o încărcătură metaforică și o intensitate simbolică rar întâlnite în peisajul prozei contemporane.

İkinci bölümde, Zeynep Rana Turgut feminist edebiyat kuramını tarihsel, politik ve edebi açılardan incelemiş, üç dalga feminizm kuramını ayrı ayrı ele almıştır. Mülk edinme hakkından, politik alanda görünür olmasına dek pek çok zeminde kadının durumunu incelemiştir. Woolf, Cixous, Irigaray ve Kristeva gibi pek çok feminist düşünürün eserlerine atıfta bulunarak ilgili kavramları ele almıştır. Zeynep Rana Turgut, bu kuram ile Angela Carter’ın “Bay Aslan Gönül Avında” öyküsünü incelemiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, Aslı Özlem Tarakcıoğlu Saussure’un yapısalcılık kuramını Genel Dilbilim Üstüne Dersler adlı kitabı doğrultusunda temellendirdikten sonra Derrida’nın yapısöküm kuramını açıklamıştır. “Mutlu Sonlar” adlı eseri bu bağlamda inceleyen Tarakcıoğlu, yapısöküm kuramını akıcı üslubuyla keyifli bir okumaya çevirmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde, Gökşen Aras, psikanalitik kuramı, Freud, Lacan, Jung ve Fanon’un görüşlerine yer vererek açıklamıştır. İd, ego, süperego, bireysel ve kolektif bilinçaltı gibi terimleri okuyucuya sunmuştur. Aras, Marlow’un hem fiziksel hem de içsel yolculuğunu betimleyen Joseph Conrad’ın Karanlığın Yüreği adlı eserini incelemiştir. Beşinci bölümde, Mehmet Akif Balkaya, postmodernizm kuramını incelemeden önce modernizm akımını ele almıştır. Sonrasında, postmodernite, postmodern, postmodernizm gibi kavramları açıklayıp, postmodernist yöntemlerden parodi, ironi, pastiş, metinlerarasılık, özdönüşümsellik gibi terimleri okuyucunun bilgisine sunmuştur. Bu bağlamda, Angela Carter’ın “Werewolf” öyküsünü postmodernist yeniden yazım ve parodi örneği olarak incelemiştir. Altıncı bölümde, Kuğu Tekin, postkolonyal kuramı ele alırken, kolonyalizm, postkolonyalizm ve neo-kolonyalizmi tarihsel gelişimi içinde ele almış ve ilgili terimleri Fanon, Said ve Loomba gibi düşünürlere gönderme yaparak aktarmıştır. Tekin, kolonyal dönemin acılarını ve adaletsizliklerini sömürgecinin gözünden aktaran Doris Lessing’in “The Old Chief Mshlanga” eserini incelemiştir. Yedinci bölümde, Gülşah Göçmen, son yıllarda gelişen çevre ve edebiyat ilişkisini ön plana alan Ekoeleştiriyi tarihsel, felsefi ve edebi yönden ele almış; bu eleştirinin üç akımı üzerine bilgilendirici bir bölüm sunmuştur. Göçmen, Jeanette Winterson’ın Atlas’ın Yükü romanını hem postmodernist yeniden yazım yöntemi açısından hem de dünya, insan, insan dışı canlıların konumu ve birbirleriyle olan ilişkilerini ekoeleştirel açıdan incelemiştir. Sekizinci bölümde, Kübra Baysal, Antroposen eleştiriyi kavramsal zeminde açıklamış ve bu çerçevede Liz Jensen’in The Rapture romanını ele almıştır. Bu bölümde, özellikle on dokuzuncu yüzyıldan günümüze kadar uzanan ve etkisi derinden hissedilen Antroposen çağının yıkıcı sonuçlarının romandaki yansımaları incelenmiştir.

One of the most fascinating representatives of the Romanian exile, even though he is less famous when compared to his great contemporaries Mircea Eliade, Eugène Ionesco or E.M. Cioran, Vintilă Horia represents an interesting example of artistic capacity to empathize with the protagonists of his own work. All his great novels (The Knight of Resignation, A Tomb in the Sky or God Was Born in Exile) include the recurrent image of tragic exiles unexpectedly confronted with the harsh reality of uprooting and forced to come to terms with the new world they reach, sometimes after a challenging or dangerous journey. The Latin poet Ovid in God Was Born in Exile (Dieu est né en exil, 1960) is perhaps Horia's most remarkable character, the protagonist's exile to Tomis representing an expression of the author's own painful exile after World War II, when he was forced to leave Romania for good. Ovid's exile and then his journeys stand for a complex process of initiation, completed only when the poet also has the revelation of his future possible symbolic rebirth and foresees his way to spiritual redemption.

From family to friend to employer to marital partner to investment decisions, trust in a relationship is always a negotiation, with each side mainly focused on its goals. Each side has its own narrative of events, often at variance with that of the other side, which is the case throughout this novel. Three different views are given of the marriage between Andrew and Mildred Bevel, the first in a fictionalized novel by a former acquaintance of the couple, Harold Vanner, who delightfully distorts their lives into a Gothic mystery novel about Benjamin and Helen Rast’s unhappy marriage that ends with Helen entombed in an isolated Swiss sanatorium where medical experiments only worsen her condition, and her life ends when she’s subjected to an early form of shock treatment. The family’s personal issues are presented so unfavorably distorted, that Andrew Bevel spends a fortune buying up every copy of the novel and ensuring that Vanner’s name vanishes from the public library as if he had never existed.

This paper presents the construction strategies of authorial identity by the analyses of two contemporary novels which play with the limits of autobiographic fiction: Summertime (2009), by J. M. Coetzee and Doutor Pasavento (2005), by Enrique Vila-Matas. Whilst the narrative in Coetzee’s novel turns to the construction of the author’s posthumous identity through the gathering of testimonials and research in notebooks left by the fictional writer, the narrative of Vila-Matas adds an essay structure to recurring thematic elements in the work of the Spanish writer (as the autoreference, citation of another literary works; the subject of disappearance and the writing cessation – dubbed Bartleby Syndrome). Our reading indicates that these two novels illustrate the impossibility of ending a unique author identity and one solution found in contemporary literature is to incorporate into the narrative structure elements that make up this quandary.

Son dönemi olarak bilinen 1980-1984 yıllarında Michel Foucault’nun gündeme getirdiği bazı sorular, antik Yunan tragedya yazarı Aiskhylos’un Oresteia üçlemesindeki adalet meselesiyle örtüşür. Foucault özellikle 1981’de Louvain Üniversitesi’nde verdiği derslerden oluşan Kabahat İşlemek, Doğruyu Söylemek’te adalet sorununa önemli bir yer ayırır. Tabii Foucault için bu seminerlerin esas sorunu, Batı kültüründe itirafın özneleşme biçimlerindeki rolünü ortaya koymak ve bu biçimleri hakikat sorununa bağlamak olsa da, ileride görüleceği gibi, adalet hiç de geri planda değildir. Ne var ki bu derslerde birçok destan ve tragedya sahnesini ele almasına rağmen, sorunla doğrudan ilişkili olan Oresteia üçlemesine bir cümlede değinmekle yetinir Foucault. Oysa ilk bakışta bu üçleme kendi çalışmaları açısından oldukça önemli bir yerde durur. Elinizdeki yazının temel meselesi iki eksende gelişmektedir: İlk eksende, Foucault’nun Oresteia’yı neden okumadığına ilişkin bazı muhtemel gerekçeler önermeye çalışacağım. Bu soruyu “Foucault Oresteia’yı neden okumuyor?” şeklinde ifade ediyorum.
