Futurologists’ visions of the dawning age of ‘posthumanized’ organizations range from the disquieting to the exhilarating. Which of these visions are compatible with our best current understanding of the capacities and the limits of human intelligence, physiology, and sociality? And what can posthumanist thought reveal about the forces of technologization that are transforming how we collaborate with one another – and with ever more sophisticated artificial agents and systems – to achieve shared goals?
This book develops new insights into the evolving nature of intelligent agency and collaboration by applying the post-anthropocentric and post-dualistic methodologies of posthumanism to the fields of organizational theory and management. Building on a comprehensive typology of posthumanism, an emerging ‘organizational posthumanism’ is described which makes sense of the dynamics of technological posthumanization that are reshaping the members, personnel structures, information systems, processes, physical and virtual spaces, and external environments available to organizations. Conceptual frameworks and analytical tools are formulated for use in diagnosing and guiding the ongoing convergence in the capacities of human and artificial actors that is being spurred by novel technologies relating to human augmentation, synthetic agency, and digital-physical ecosystems. As the first systematic investigation of these topics, this text will be of interest to scholars and students of posthumanism and management and to management practitioners who must grapple on a daily basis with the forces of technologization that are increasingly powerful drivers of organizational change.

Six thinking hats is recently introduced technique which outlines different thinking styles required by an individual while analysing a given problem in an effective way. The technique correlates different thinking styles used in a systematic problem-solving procedure with different coloured hats. Alternately, by conceptualizing each type of hat, the person focuses on the style of thinking associated with each colour so that the problem can be analysed from different angles and frame of references. This method supports lateral thinking possibilities and new outcomes during problem-solving session so that the optimum solution can be found out. In this paper, we have discussed how to adopt six thinking hats technique in organizational problem-solving process. Each of the six thinking hats may also be conceived to be an independent entity in the thinking process and such attributes contribute to predominant personality trait distinguishable with various categories of persons. Such for instance, are thinking styles associated with typical administrators, religious leaders, politicians, scientists, and managers. The importance of six thinking hats technique in individual and group thinking in solving organizational problems is discussed. The paper also contains the attitudinal relationship in decision making using six thinking hat technique, personality types associated with thinking hats process, and use of this technique in organizational problem solving methods.

In this text we present the Posthuman Management Matrix, a model for understanding the ways in which organizations of the future will be affected by the blurring – or even dissolution – of boundaries between human beings and computers. In this model, an organization’s employees and consumers can include two different kinds of agents (human and artificial) who may possess either of two sets of characteristics (anthropic or computer-like); the model thus defines four types of possible entities. For millennia, the only type of relevance for management theory and practice was that of human agents who possess anthropic characteristics – i.e., ‘natural human beings.’ During the 20th Century, the arrival of computers and industrial robots made relevant a second type: that of artificial agents possessing computer-like characteristics.
Management theory and practice have traditionally overlooked the remaining two types of possible entities – human agents possessing computer-like physical and cognitive characteristics (which can be referred to as ‘cyborgs’) and artificial agents possessing anthropic physical and cognitive characteristics (which for lack of a more appropriate term might be called ‘bioroids’) – because such agents did not yet exist to serve as employees or consumers for organizations. However, in this text we argue that ongoing developments in neuroprosthetics, genetic engineering, virtual reality, robotics, and artificial intelligence are indeed giving rise to such types of agents and that new spheres of management theory and practice will be needed to allow organizations to understand the operational, legal, and ethical issues that arise as their pools of potential workers and customers evolve to include human beings whose bodies and minds incorporate ever more computerized elements and artificial entities that increasingly resemble biological beings.
By analyzing the full spectrum of human, computerized, and hybrid entities that will constitute future organizations, the Posthuman Management Matrix highlights ways in which established disciplines such as cybernetics, systems theory, organizational design, and enterprise architecture can work alongside new disciplines like psychological engineering, AI resource management, metapsychology, and exoeconomics to help organizations anticipate and adapt to posthumanizing technological and social change.

Social media platforms provide an enormous public repository of textual data from which valuable information can be extracted. We show that firms can extract business intelligence from social media data bearing on an important business application, measuring brand personality. Specifically, we develop a text analytics framework that integrates different distinct sources of social media data generated by consumers, employees, and firms, to measure brand personality. Based on Elastic-Net regression analyses of a large corpus of social media data, including self-descriptions of 1,996,214 consumers who followed the sample of brands on social media, 312,400 employee reviews of the brands’ firms, and 680,056 brand official tweets, we develop a brand personality model that achieves prediction accuracy as high as 0.78. Among key insights, we find that the profile of individuals who choose to associate with brands on social media is an important predictor of brand personality; this provides the first real-world evidence for a consumer identity-brand personality link. We also identify a link between an organization’s internal corporate environment as perceived by employees and brand personality as judged by consumers. We further illuminate the practical implication of our predictive model by building a cloud-based information system that allows managers and analysts to explore and track personality of their own brands and their competitors’ brands.

An analysis of the external environment is undertaken in order to discover the opportunities and threats that are evolving and that need to be addressed by the organization. A study by Diffenbach (1983) identified a number of positive consequences that stem from carrying out an organized environmental analysis. An analysis of the external environment can be broken down into three key steps, each becoming more specific to the organization. The first step is an analysis of the macro-environmental influences that the organization faces. This is followed by an examination of the competitive (micro) environment the organization operates within. Finally a specific competitive analysis is undertaken

Organizations have long used analytics to improve performance. Modern enterprise technological landscapes are being impacted by the increasing individuation of information systems (IS). One promising technological advancement in this regard will be the use of personal analytics within an enterprise setting. While traditional organizational intelligence metrics deliver a big picture of structures, processes, and roles, more detailed and personalized analytics enables employees to scrutinize their personal productivity in terms of their desired versus their actual way of working. Personal analytics empowers individuals to analyze and exploit their own data to achieve a range of objectives and benefits across their work (e.g. productivity, quality, performance) and personal lives (e.g. sleep, exercise, health). This topic has only been minimally analyzed in IS research. Furthermore, there have been increased calls by academics to investigate the individuation of IS which has largely gone unnoticed in the IS research discipline. While the mainstream application relatively niche, we believe its impact will fundamentally change enterprises across all sectors. Thus, in the scope of this monograph, we shall focus on this emergent category of analytics which we refer to as “enterprise personal analytics” which encompasses the concept of organizations enabling their employees to use their individual analytics to manage their digital working lives from descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive points of view. Our comprehensive review of the existing empirical research on the use of personal analytics within an organizational setting identified that the only consistency pertaining to the concept was inconsistency. Therefore, this monograph offers the following theoretical and practical contributions: 1. We present an overview of specific analytics trends which have shaped the personal analytics landscape which include: learning analytics, the quantified self, human-centric analytics, gamification, sports analytics, personal cloud, and Neuro IS. 2. We present a framework, derived from a comprehensive review of the personal analytics literature, which consists of various combinations of research stakeholder perspectives and concerns. This framework can be used to guide and coalesce future IS research on enterprise personal analytics. 3. We provide an overview of possible research questions aimed at highlighting how the framework can be used. 4. We propose a visual mapping artefact aimed at assisting companies with their enterprise personal analytics digital transformation journeys.

Considering the complexity of today"s service environment, Small-to-Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) cannot afford to accept the status quo of service operations and therefore must have some clear business analytics objective to reach. Without clear metric objectives, organisations are almost destined for disaster since the allocation of resources may not have responded to the demand exerted from outside of the organisation. This is particularly true within a complex and rapidly changing cloud computing environment. The cloud dynamic ecosystem is moving towards a collection of services which interoperate across the Internet. This chapter offers a discussion on an approach to assessing cloud capabilities through Cloud Service Capability Assessment Framework (CSCAF). Service metrics plays a critical role in CSCAF and presents managers with a practical framework to carry out cloud capability assessments. The process may be simply described as publishing, retrieving, and managing cloud service descriptions, service publications which are matched with descriptions of consumer"s requirements and service matching.

This paper is concerned with models of the innovation process. It takes the perspective that innovation is a non-linear process where development paths emerge from the process of 'imagining' and 'doing', iterating around in evolutionary cycles until a satisfactory innovation emerges. To support this we have developed a model of the innovation process called Creative Innovation Development (CID), which integrates an evolutionary ideation process (an augmented version of science fiction prototyping) with agile development. The paper describes the working of the model and its components. We illustrate the operation of CID by describing how it is being utilised by a start-up company, LivingPattern Technology Inc. Finally, the paper concludes by presenting future directions for our work.

After the fall of USSR in 1991, the story of the five Central Asian Republics (CAR) namely Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has been rather interesting. Many business schools have adopted case method in management research and in teaching pedagogy with the belief that it is a most powerful way to study and learn new lessons required to identify, understand, and solve the problems in the process of managing and leading the organizations. Analysing business cases of companies force students to grapple with exactly the kinds of situations, decisions, and dilemmas managers confront every day. A good business case will include the problem, identify all the possible options to solve the problem, and provides adequate information along with uncertainties to the decision-makers to choose which course of action will be best for the organisation. Case analysis is a participatory method in which the students play a lead role in their own and each other's learning. The instructors moderate the discussions ask questions, monitors the dialogue, supports debate, and records the frameworks used for analysing situations, concepts, models, strategies used in the problem of the system/organization to engage students in a decision-making process of a challenging, interactive learning environment. Both types of cases can be analysed in a classroom setup provided the instructor finds them as appropriate for the topic and subject under discussion. Company analysis is a powerful tool in developing both research case study and teaching case study in business management subject. In this paper, we have discussed the case studies based on company analysis, case studies published by top publishers on company analysis, difference between research case study and teaching case study, company analysis as a methodology in management research, an effective method of developing research case studies based on company analysis using a framework for research case study based on company analysis, and the possible recommendations based on analysis.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is an old phenomenon. However, there is no consensus on the definition of the term. The absence of a universal definition cause organisations to struggle to decide on what constitute CRM. While we acknowledge the diversity in the term CRM, we diverge from the view that it is exclusively relevant for driving sales and retaining profitable customers in for profit organisations. In this study we diverge from that view and present a CRM narrative within the context of a not for profit public institution. Using a practitioner-based inquiry, we explored the various CRM initiatives which a Higher Education (HE) institution implemented to achieve effective Information Technology (IT) service delivery. We describe these different CRM initiatives and their implications to effective IT service delivery. Our findings contradict the norm that CRM is for profitability purposes. The study revealed that CRM is a significant part of effective IT service delivery in not for profit public institutions and in situations where clients are internal. In addition to that, our study present alternative CRM initiatives with potential positive outcomes which other not for profit public institutions can implement to resolve CRM difficulties and to improve IT service delivery.

Foundational ontologies provide the basic concepts upon which any domain-specific ontology is built. This chapter presents a new foundational ontology, UFO, and shows how it can be used as a guideline in business modeling and for evaluating business modeling methods. UFO is derived from a synthesis of two other foundational ontologies, GFO/GOL and OntoClean/DOLCE. While their main areas of application are natural sciences and linguistics/cognitive engineering, respectively, the main purpose of UFO is to provide a foundation for conceptual modeling, including business modeling.

At present WhatsApp is being used by 1.5 billion People. Though the platform is used to connect with family, friends and colleagues, it has been misused by a few to spread rumours and fake messages. When a user receives a WhatsApp forward message, he has very limited options at disposal to verify the veracity of the forward message. The user can attempt to verify with the forwarder or verify using google search. However, verifying the veracity of a WhatsApp message using google search is exhausting and the user cannot resort to google for all the forwards received. This sets the motif of this research. We will use Natural Language Processing to deeply explore the semantics of fake data and identify patterns in them using supervised Machine Learning techniques to distinguish between fake and genuine messages. We will also extend our exploration based on behavioral and contextual patterns of fake messages.

On-line interpretation and visualization of project data are gaining increasing importance on the long road towards predictable and controllable software project execution. In the context of software development, only few techniques exist for supporting these tasks. This is caused particularly by the often insufficient use of engineering principles in the software development domain. Beyond that, interpretation and visualization techniques from other domains (such as business or production processes) are not directly applicable to software processes because of the specific characteristics of software development. A software project control center (SPCC) is a means for collecting, interpreting, and visualizing measurement data in order to provide purpose-and role-oriented information to all involved parties (e.g., project manager, quality assurer) during the execution of a project. This article presents a reference model for concepts and definitions around SPCCs. Based on this reference model, a characterization and classification of essential approaches contributing to this field is given. Finally, an outline for future research is derived from identified deficiencies of existing approaches.

Although services are delivered across dispersed complex service eco-systems, monitoring performance becomes a difficult task. This paper explores a number of areas to support the development of service performance analytics within the discipline of service science. The paper provides a comprehensive account for the need to introduce modelling techniques to address the significant research void and explains how actor network theory (ANT) can be introduced as one of the core theories to examine service operations and performance. ANT sets out to develop an understanding on both how and why networks exist and to understand processes co-creation between human and non-human actors. By examining performance, this paper draws our attention towards the need to formulate methods to examine service network key performance indicators and the need to model service interaction, structure, and behaviour which impact on performance and consequently on service evolution.

Elicitation methods have been explored extensively in social science research, and in business contexts, to uncover unarticulated informant knowledge. This qualitative study investigates the use of an audiovisual elicitation interviewing technique, developed by a UK-based creative multimedia production social enterprise; Fifth Planet Productions CIC. The method employs a system of using audiovisual stimulus to elicit participant responses in the interview setting. This study, conducted in two parts, explores how the method improves solutions for eliciting client requirements. Part 1 explores the audiovisual elicitation interview within the business setting; how the techniques are effective at revealing tacit knowledge that would ordinarily remain unspoken in the standard interview. Part 2 tests the developed methods on a sample of 25 business owners seeking to improve communication within their respective organisations. This evidences how it is possible to elicit rich information that can be interpreted to determine clients’ requirements on professional commissions.

Nurse Rostering Problem and Vehicle Routing Problem are two well studied problems in
computer science. Many approaches have been introduced by many researchers in this field.
Due to computational complexity, exact methods like branch and bound, backtracking do not
give solution in feasible runtime for complex problems. So many AI techniques have been
introduced in recent years. We have studied these techniques in details and introduced some
combined approaches. At first chapter we focused on Nurse Rostering Problem and its
different solution techniques. We discussed some approaches like local search, Genetic
Algorithm, Harmony Search Algorithm and their combined approaches. We introduced a new
way to produce feasible solution set.
