Deixis is one of the most important and basic issues in English language study especially in case of contextual meaning study. But, the term "Deixis' is quite unfamiliar in Bengali language. One of the reasons is that Pragmatics is, probably, still to be studied or, surely, less-studied arena in Bengali language and linguistics. Some of the deictic expressions are listed in Bengali grammar and classified them under different pronouns or adverbs, the same way English language does. But, in English, these expressions have been mainly studied in Pragmatics which is more reasonable. The lack of 'Pragmatics' study has left these expressions behind our sight. The purpose of this article is, firstly, to analyze the concept of 'Deixis' in Bengali language with special attention on Person Deixis known as Honorifics; secondly, to make a comparative study of Honorifics in English and Bengali languages. The findings show that the deixis can be different based on age, sex, social status and context. They can sometimes create social dominations, sometimes mean the participants. The findings also recommend further study of this issue in Bengali language.

Basic knowledge of English pronunciation along with its usage in spoken language is a fundamental issue in teaching and learning English language. Teaching pronunciation is certainly among the least prioritized concern in teaching English language in Bangladesh. But, it should have been given more priority. We have a long history of not teaching English pronunciation in primary, secondary and even in tertiary level of education in Bangladesh. As a result, we have produced a class of learners or users of English who have achieved a hazardous form of English pronunciation in their oral utterances. The aim of this article is to explore this hazardous form of English pronunciation by the Bangladeshi learners/users of English as a second/foreign language. This hazardous form of English pronunciation has been termed as 'Epidemic Pronunciation'. This paper will also attempt to diagnose the causes of this epidemic form of English pronunciation by a comparative study of Bengali and English Phonetics and finally attempt to show how the study of 'Phonetics' can be a remedy of this problem.

Capitalist civilization has taken over the place of all societies that have degraded over time. As a result, the door to the final advance of capitalist civilization has been opened in every arena, personal, social, state, economic, culture. As soon as the destructive and apocalyptic reaction after the Second World War was over, the new colonialism called capitalism was in full swing in the newly independent state. Then some states were quick to adopt the policy of `Nationalism’ and `Neutrality’ to keep themselves free from the ruthless grip of the two superpowers. But if this policy is implemented, both American’s mission and vision will be swamped. They cannot even claim to be the superior caste. They are taken as a tool to satisfy the greedy desires of the newly independent economically weak states and the wealthy American citizens living in those states. So that their neo-imperialist spread could be ripened forever. Syed Waliullah’s Ugly Asian (2006) is a novel written in the narrative of the oppressed people crushed by neo-colonial exploitation. He is an introspective, philanthropic and pragmatic speaker. So, he felt the need for awakening to get rid of foreign flattery. "Children are the most precious human capital of any country. However, in developing countries like Bangladesh, economic constraints limit opportunities to fulfill children’s fundamental needs. As a result, children are often deprived of essential necessities, love, affection, and a nurturing environment, contributing to the rise of child labor. In Bangladesh, child labor is a significant issue, with approximately 4.7 million children aged 5-14 years identified as economically active in 2002-03, and a labor force participation rate of 13.4% for this age group, according to the National Child Labor Survey (NCLS).

Child labor in Bangladesh has increased notably in recent years, with children traditionally involved in agriculture now moving into other sectors, including the vehicle industry. Existing laws in Bangladesh prohibit child labor in all sectors, yet many working children still miss the opportunity to attend school and are treated as inexpensive labor. They often endure harsh conditions, including inadequate food, poor clothing, unsafe work environments, inconsistent wages, and limited recreational opportunities. Many also face physical, mental, and sometimes even sexual harassment.

This research aims to examine various aspects of child labor in the vehicle sector in Chittagong, including the socioeconomic and cultural consequences and the need for adequate relief and support for child workers. The objective is to analyze trends and provide insights that could inform policies and interventions to protect the rights and well-being of child laborers in the region."

In the past three years, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and most recently Nepal have all witnessed regime collapse triggered not solely by political intrigue but by deepening economic despair. Nepal’s September 2025 uprising, sparked by a ban on social media platforms, underscored how youth discontent over unemployment, remittance dependency, and economic stagnation can escalate into nationwide upheaval. Similar dynamics drove Bangladesh’s 2024 revolt, fueled by inflation and corruption, and Sri Lanka’s 2022 Aragalaya protests, born of debt crises, shortages, and policy missteps. This article argues that economic precarity—manifested in food insecurity, joblessness, and declining household survival capacity—has become the decisive driver of political instability in South Asia. Generational mobilization, amplified by social media, has transformed these grievances into mass movements that toppled entrenched elites. The paper situates these crises within broader Indo-Pacific geopolitics, highlighting how South Asia’s so-called “demographic dividend” has become a destabilizing force. Stability in the region, it concludes, cannot be secured through electoral engineering or elite bargains alone; it requires structural responses to unemployment, corruption, debt dependency, and reliance on narrow growth sectors.

With the evolving integration of conventional, irregular and cyber capabilities, the contemporary landscape of warfare is undergoing with a substantial transformation. This trend has been generally identified as a hybrid or multi-domain warfare that produces both opportunities and challenges for any military organisations worldwide. In this backdrop, traditional approaches to warfare are no longer sufficient and due to that armed forces need to develop adaptable and innovative strategies to maintain its effectiveness. Concerning the Sri Lanka military, Sri Lanka Army as one of the most recognized armies in the world with its notable history of successful campaign against terrorism, these developments demand a paradigm shift of all aspects. Similar to any militaries, Sri Lanka Army must now face with non-traditional security challenges in various forms including cyber threats, information warfare and irregular tactics employed by state and non-state actors. These complexities demand a unified approach to integrate diverse capabilities, fostering interoperability between other services and enhancing operational readiness. This study aims to research into the challenges connected with this evolving nature of warfare, particularly as they relate to the Sri Lanka Army's unique operational context. It will analyse the implications of integrating conventional, irregular and cyber warfare capabilities and offer evidence-based recommendations to ensure the Army's continued effectiveness in safeguarding national security. By addressing these issues, the research seeks to contribute to the strategic development of the Sri Lanka Army, focusing contemporary and future security demands with resilience and adaptability. During the process, the researcher may undergo restraints in accessing classified information and limitations in the availability of comprehensive details on cyber warfare capabilities. Reviews literature on hybrid warfare, military integration, and case studies from other nations. c. Chapter Three. Details the research methodology, data collection methods, and analytical techniques. d. Chapter Four. Presents findings based on qualitative data and comparative studies. e. Discusses key findings and their implications for the SLA. f. Chapter Six. Concludes the study and offers recommendations for hybrid warfare capability integration. 17. লেখাটি শুরু করছি কয়েকটি প্রশ্ন দিয়ে। একিবারে সাদামাটা প্রশ্ন। প্রশ্নগুলো আমার নিজের, কমবেশি সকলেরই। এগুলোর মুখোমুখি হয়ে থাকি আপনা থেকেই অথবা একটু অবসরের মাঝে নিরালায়। তাহলো ‘জীবন’ আসলে কী? এটা কী একটি স্বপ্ন, চরম বাস্তবতা অথবা এ দু’য়ের মিশেল কিছু! এর সংজ্ঞা, পরিসর, উদ্দেশ্য-লক্ষ্য, পরিচালনা পদ্ধতি ইত্যাকার জিজ্ঞাসার উত্তর জানা দরকার। কিন্তু কে দেবে এর উত্তর অথবা কোথা থেকেই তা আসতে পারে- এটিও কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নয়। আমার স্বল্পপরিসরের জীবন, অনুল্লেখ্য অভিজ্ঞতা আর অতিসীমিত সামর্থ নিয়ে কয়েকটি পর্বে কথাগুলো বলতে চেষ্টা করব ইন-শা-আল্লাহ।

পরিবার মানব সমাজের সুতিকাগার। আল্লাহ তায়ালার এক বিশেষ উদ্দেশ্যপূর্ণ প্রতিষ্ঠান হল এই পরিবার। পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে পুরতান প্রতিষ্ঠানও বটে। এখান থেকেই মানব সমাজের সূচনা। ভাষা, রঙ, গোত্র, ভৌগলিক সীমারেখা, আকার-আকৃতির পার্থক্যসহ মানুষ আজ বহু ভাগে বিভক্ত। তাদের সকলেরই যাত্রা প্রথম পরিবারটি থেকে- যার সূচনা করেছিলেন আল্লাহ রব্বুল আলামীন তাঁর একান্ত ইচ্ছায়।

১৫ মে আন্তর্জাতিক পরিবার দিবস। বিজ্ঞানের চরম উৎকর্ষের এই যুগে আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায়ের পরিবার নিয়ে একটি দিবস ঘোষণা দেয়ার পিছনে বিশেষ গুরুত্ব ও তাৎপর্য নিহিত রয়েছে। মানবেতিহাসের সুপ্রাচীন ও চিরায়ত এই প্রতিষ্ঠান আমাদের সকলের কাছেই সুপরিচিত। মানবসমাজের সুচনা ও ক্রমবিকাশের সাথে এটি মানবদেহের ধমনী ও রক্তের মত জড়িত।

বিভিন্ন সময়ে মানুষ তার বিশ্বাস ও দর্শনের পরিবর্তন করে সভ্যতা ও সংস্কৃতির পরিবর্তন করেছে, জীবনের নানা মোড় ও বাঁক, পল-অনুপল ও কালের ব্যবধানে অনেক কিছুই বদলে দেয়ার চেষ্টা করেছে, আবার নতুন করে অনেক কিছু করতে একটুও কসুর করেনি। তবে কোনকালেই এই প্রতিষ্ঠানকে উপেক্ষা বা অস্বীকার করে মানবসমাজ বেশিদূর অগ্রসর হতে পারেনি-এর পরিণতিও ভাল হয়নি। আর সেজন্যই হয়তো আলোর গতিপ্রাপ্তির স্বপ্নে বিভোর আজকের বিশ্বসমাজ আবার নতুন করে তার সুপ্রাচীন এই প্রতিষ্ঠানকে তুলে ধরতে চাইছে তার সদস্যদের সামনে গুরুত্বের সাথে। কিন্তু কেন, তা আমরা সংক্ষেপে আলোচনা করতে চেষ্টা করব পরিবার দিবসকে সামনে রেখে।

ঈদ-উল-আযহা মুসলিম জীবনে এমনি একটি অন্যতম দিন। দেশ-কাল-পাত্রভেদে মুসলিম সমাজে এই দিনটি ধর্মীয়-সামাজিক উৎসবের দিন হিসেবে সূচনাকাল হতে অদ্যাবধি পালিত হয়ে আসছে। মূলত এটি একটি আত্ম-ত্যাগের উৎসব, নির্মল সামষ্টিক আনন্দ লাভ আর একে অন্যের সহমর্মী হওয়ার অপূর্ব সুযোগ, নিজ নিজ দায়িত্ব কর্তব্য পালন ও অধিকার প্রাপ্তির এক সার্বজনীন ব্যবস্থা। অন্যান্য জীবনাদর্শ হতে ইসলামের স্বাতন্ত্রে এটি একটি অন্যতম দিক।

এ দেশের মানুষ অনেকবার বিদেশী শক্তির দ্বারা রাজনৈতিকভাবে শাসিত হয়েছে বটে তবে বশ্যতা কখনও স্বীকার করেনি। ক্ষণিকের জন্যও ভিনদেশী শাসকগোষ্ঠীকে প্রভু হিসেবে মেনে নেয়নি। তাই পরাধীন হওয়ার স্বল্প সময়ের মধ্যেই তারা আবার স্বাধীনতার স্বপ্ন দেখেছে। নিজেদেরকে সংগঠিত করে বুকের তাজা রক্ত দিয়ে স্বাধীন করেছে এই প্রিয় মাতৃভূমিকে প্রতিবারই। সুতরাং একথা বললে অত্যুক্তি হবে না যে, এ দেশের মানুষের মাঝে স্বাধীনচেতা মনোভাব চিরকালের। এক্ষেত্রে নিয়ামকের ভূমিকা পালন করেছে তাদের ধর্মীয় চেতনাবোধ, সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য। একই ধারাবাহিকতায় তারা ১৯৭১ সালের ১৬ ডিসেম্বর দীর্ঘ ৯ মাস সর্বোচ্চ ত্যাগ ও কুরবাণীর মাধ্যমে মাতৃভূমিকে স্বাধীন করে। পৃথিবীর বুকে সগৌরবে স্থান করে নেয় সবুজে ঘেরা আমাদের প্রিয় জন্মভূমি বাংলাদেশ।

The Buddhist population in Bangladesh is comprised of diverse ethnic groups, including the Barua, Chakma, Tanchangya, Marma, and Rakhain peoples. These groups mostly profess belief in Theravada Buddhism. The Buddhist community in Bangladesh is estimated to be around a million people, representing approximately 0.6 per cent of the country's total population. However, a minor Theravada-like community known as the Luris seems to defy neat categories, since its members practice a syncretic form of Buddhism that incorporates elements of Theravada, tantric traditions, and indigenous cults. The Luris reside within the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) and were recognized as prominent practitioners of Buddhism in the CHT, especially among the Chakma people. বস্তুবাদী চিন্তাধারা পৃথিবীতে মানুষকে উদ্দেশ্যহীন ও ভোগবাদী সৃষ্টি হিসেবে বিবেচনা করে। অপরদিকে ইসলামের দৃষ্টিতে মানুষ আল্লাহ তা‘আলার উদ্দেশ্যপূর্ণ সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ সৃষ্টি। মানুষ তার আগমনের উদ্দেশ্য ক্ষণকালের জন্যও ভুলে গিয়ে যেন বিপথে না যায়, সেজন্য আল্লাহ যুগে যুগে নবি-রসুল পাঠিয়েছেন কিতাব ও সহিফাসহ। তাঁরা প্রাপ্ত নির্দেশনার আলোকে মানবসমাজকে পরিচালনা করে ও গড়ে তুলতে চেষ্টা করেছেন- অনাগতকালের মুসলিম উম্মাহ এর উত্তরাধিকার। বাস্তবতার নিরিখে উপর্যুক্ত চিন্তাবিশ্বাস দুটি পরস্পর ভিন্নতর। প্রকৃতপক্ষে শুরু থেকেই ইসলাম মানুষকে তার দায়-দায়িত্ব বুঝিয়ে দিতে চেষ্টা করেছে। তার বিনিময়েই সে দুনিয়া ও আখিরাতে পুরস্কৃত অথবা তিরস্কৃত হবে। এরপরও আত্মভোলা মানুষ সে আহবান খুব কমই শুনেছে, জবাবদিহিতা সম্পর্কে সামান্যই সচেতন ও সজাগ হয়েছে। তবে নিজ পরিচয়ে বেঁচে থাকা, সৃষ্টিলগ্নের লক্ষ্য-উদ্দেশ্যের পানে সঠিকভাবে পরিচালিত হওয়ার প্রচেষ্টা মানুষের কখনও থেমে থাকেনি; স্রোতস্বিনীর মতো অনন্তকালের পানে বয়ে চলেছে- আর তা অব্যাহত থাকবে মহামিলনের দিন পর্যন্ত। মহান আল্লাহর অভিপ্রায়ও এটাই। আমাদের প্রিয় মাতৃভূমিকে সুখী-সমৃদ্ধশালী দেশ হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে দেশের সকল নারী-পুরুষকে নিজ নিজ দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য-সচেতন করার কোনো বিকল্প নেই।

প্রায় ৮৭ ভাগ মুসলিমের এ দেশ ও সমাজের প্রতিটি সদস্যকে ইসলামের মহান আদর্শের আলোকে দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য-সচেতন করা এবং দেশের সেবায় আত্মনিয়োগ করার যোগ্য করে গড়ে তোলা আজ সময়ের দাবি। প্রবন্ধের সংক্ষিপ্ত কলেবরে এ বিষয়ে আলোচনার চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে।

বর্তমান বাংলাদেশের সাহিত্যচর্চা সম্পূর্ণ ইউরোপীয় রীতি দ্বারা প্রভাবিত। আধুনিকতা কিংবা উত্তরাধুনিকতার দোহাইয়ে বাঙালির নিজস্ব বোধ-বুদ্ধি, ইতিহাস-ঐতিহ্য এতে উপেক্ষিত। এমনকি নব্য উপনিবেশের করণ-কৌশলে বাঙালি স্বতন্ত্র জাতিসত্তার আত্মপরিচয় দৃষ্ট হয় এমন কোনো সাহিত্যকর্ম নেই। অধিকাংশ সাহিত্যকর্মই সস্তা চটুল ও ঠুনকো আত্মপ্রচারে ব্যাপ্ত। আঙ্গিক সর্বস্ব দর্শনহীন বাতুলতা সর্বত্র। ঐতিহ্যের চর্যাপদ, ইউসুফ-জোলেখা, রসুল বিজয়, মনসামঙ্গল কিংবা শ্রীকৃষ্ণকীর্তনকে যেমন বাঙালির রচনা বলে চিহ্নিত করা যায়। ঠিক তেমনি অষ্টাদশ শতাব্দীর পর দুএকটা সাহিত্যকর্ম ছাড়া আর তেমনটা চিহ্নিত করা যায় না। আর সাম্প্রতিক সাহিত্যে বাঙালি মানস বা বাঙালির সাহিত্য চিহ্নিত করা তো ভীষণ কঠিন। এ গবেষণাটি বাঙালির হাজার বছরের সাহিত্যের রূপ-রীতির স্বরূপ অনুসন্ধানের গবেষণা। হাজার বছরের বাংলা সাহিত্যাদর্শে অখÐ ভাবগত দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি প্রাধান্য পেলেও প্রকাশ-আঙ্গিকে বহুমাত্রিক নানা রূপ-বৈচিত্র্য বিদ্যমান। ঐতিহ্যবাহী বাংলা সাহিত্যধারায় ব্যক্তি স্বাতন্ত্র্য যেমন আছে, তেমনি আছে সমাজ-মানুষের জন্য নিবেদন। আবহমান কালের বহমান সাহিত্যরীতিকে উপলব্ধি করেই নিজস্ব অনুভব, বোধ-বুদ্ধির চর্চাই জাতিগত আত্মপরিচয় সৃষ্টি করতে পারে।

মুসলিমরা ক্ষুদ্র সাম্প্রদায়িকতার অনেক ঊর্ধ্বে অবস্থানকারী এক উম্মাহর সদস্য। যেকোনো ইস্যুতে ঐক্যবদ্ধ আদর্শিক চেতনায় উজ্জীবিত এক বিশ্ব নাগরিক তারা। কিন্তু নির্বিশেষে সবখানে কি অর্থনীতি, কি সমাজনীতি, কি রাজনীতি, কি জ্ঞান-গরিমায় সবখানেই যেন তারা আজ একবারেই অভিভাবকহীন। বিশ্বে দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম জাতি গোষ্ঠী হলেও মুসলিমরা যেন প্রলঙ্করী ঝড়ো হাওয়ার পরের ছিন্ন পাতার মতো ইতঃস্তত বিক্ষিপ্ত। প্রত্যেকেই যেন বৃন্তচ্যুত পাপড়ির মতো মর্যাদাহীন ও অবহেলিত। সমকালীন বাস্তবতায় উম্মাহ কিংবা জাতীয় চেতনা দূরের কথা, ছোট্ট একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিবার যার সদস্যরাও পর্যন্ত নিজেরা মিলেমিশে থাকতে পারছে না। সেখানে এ কথা মেনে নিতে কোনো সমস্যা নেই যে, সকল ভেদাভেদ ভুলে উম্মাহর জন্য কাক্সিক্ষত ঐক্যবদ্ধ জীবনচেতনার জাগরণই আজকে আমাদের অন্যতম প্রধান কাজ। ঐক্যের অপরিহার্যতাকে শুধু মুখে বলা নয়, বরং ব্যক্তি ও সমাজের অনেক গভীরে যেতে হবে- এ কর্মসূচি নিয়ে। এটিকে বিশ্বাস ও চেতনার রাজ্য থেকে দৈনন্দিন চিন্তা ও কর্মপ্রবাহে নিতে হবে। অগ্রাধিকার প্রাপ্ত শিক্ষা ও সামাজিক আন্দোলনে রূপ দিতে হবে।

১৪৪১ হিজরি। ২০২০ খ্রিস্টাব্দ। গোটা দুনিয়া মহামারি করোনার আতঙ্কে আড়ষ্ট। পৃথিবী যেন এক মৃত্যুপল্লী। সচেতন সাধারণ মানুষের মাঝে জীবন নিয়ে এক সার্বক্ষণিক শঙ্কা পেয়ে বসেছে আর মৃত্যুচিন্তা যেন প্রবল থেকে প্রবলতর হচ্ছে। পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসে এমন মহামারি নতুন কিছু নয়। তবে এটি একটি বিশেষ সময়কাল। মানবসৃষ্ট সব দেয়াল টপকিয়ে কোভিড ঢুকেছে- কী প্রাচ্যে, কী পাশ্চাত্যে, জাতি-ধর্ম-বর্ণ, ধনী-গরীব নির্বিশেষে সকলের দুয়ারে নাড়া দিয়েছে এই কোভিড-১৯। আমাদের প্রিয় দেশটিও তার বাইরে নয়।

প্রায় ১৮ কোটি মানুষের জনপদ এই দেশ, যার ৯০ ভাগের বেশি মুসলিম। বাকীরা কোনো না কোনো ধর্মে বিশ্বাসী। সে অর্থে আমার প্রিয় এই দেশ বিশ্বাসী মানুষের জনপদ। দেশের জনসংখ্যার ৪৯ শতাংশ মানুষের বয়স ২৪ বছর বা তার থেকে নীচে এবং ৬৬ শতাংশ মানুষ কর্মক্ষম। তারা অনেকটা কর্মহীন, উদ্দেশ্যহীনভাবে প্যানডেমিকের মধ্যে এক অজানা ভীতি নিয়ে অলস সময় পার করছে। অনেকে এ সময়টিতে ফেইসবুকসহ সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার নানা মাধ্যমকে বেছে নিয়েছে। অথচ জীবন ও জীবিকা দুটোই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এটি আরেকটির পরিপূরক। তাই, দুনিয়াতে বেঁচে থাকতে হবে অর্থপূর্ণভাবে।

বর্তমান পরিস্থিতিতে আমাদেরকে শঙ্কা নয়, সচেতনতা ও সাবধানতার মাঝে বিশ্বাসপূর্ণ জীবন যাপন করতে হবে। অর্থাৎ নিজ নিজ ধর্মীয় চেতনা ও স্বাস্থ্যবিধি যথাযথভাবে মেনে চলতে হবে। এ বাস্তবতাকে সামনে রেখে নিজেকে রমাদানের একেবারে মুখোমুখি করে একান্ত নিজের অনূভূতিটুকু ফেইসবুক বন্ধুদের কাছে তুলে ধরার চেষ্টা করেছিলাম মাত্র। এখানে অনুভবের বর্ণনাটি আমার অবস্থান নয়; বরং আমার জীবনোপলব্ধি, কাক্সিক্ষত একান্ত স্বপ্নের কথা।

আমাদের চিন্তার আকাশ যখন ঘনমেঘে ঢাকা, ঠিক সে সময়েই রমাদান এসেছে জীবন ও জগতকে আল্লাহর রঙে রঙ্গীন করার বাস্তবমুখি এক কর্মসূচি নিয়ে। এ সময়কালটি বহুমাত্রিক বৈশিষ্ট্যমণ্ডিত ইবাদাতের বসন্ত হিসেবে পরিচিত। গৃহবন্দিত্বের রমাদানে অন্য বছরের চেয়ে অনেক কিছু নিয়ে চিন্তা করার সুযোগ হয়েছে। বিষয়গুলো এ লেখায় তুলে ধরার ইচ্ছা করছি। আমার এ  লেখা পাঠকের মনে কোনো নাড়া দিলে সেটি হবে আমার পরম  পাওয়া, দুনিয়া ও আখিরাতের মুক্তি ও কল্যাণের জন্য। পরম করুণাময়ের দয়া কামনা করছি, তার এক নগণ্য বান্দার এ সামান্য শ্রমকে যেন কবুল করেন। যদি কিছু প্রাপ্যতা আসে তা যেন কেবল  অনন্ত জীবনের এক সম্বলহীন যাত্রীর সহায়ক হয়। আমীন!

The main objective of this book is to acquaint the students, teachers and general readers with the concepts, ideas, formations and management of a family as well as a society for its smooth running and betterment.  The book has been basically designed for the students, teachers and researchers of human science courses of B.A and M.A programs of the public and private universities of Bangladesh. Based on my own visit to Bangladesh in 2013 and the academic and official conversations I encountered, it is evident that all sections of Bangladeshi society remain acutely sensitive about 1971. Whether one supports the Awami League or the BNP, the tragic memories of that period unite public sentiment. It is, therefore, in Pakistan’s larger national interest to extend an immediate formal apology and ensure it is accepted by the state and people of Bangladesh. Dhaka, in turn, should disseminate Pakistan’s apology positively through official channels, media and curricula. Such reciprocal gestures would not erase history but would allow both nations to move forward with dignity, mutual respect and a renewed spirit of co-operation.

This study examines the barriers to inclusive education faced by the students of tea garden communities in Bangladesh, who remain the most marginalized groups in accessing formal education. Despite government and non-government initiatives, these students continue to experience educational disadvantages especially formal education due to innumerable socioeconomic and cultural constraints. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining survey data from 100 students (primary and secondary levels), interviews with 10 teachers, and focus group discussion with 40 School Management Committee (SMC) and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members. Both statistical and thematic analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings reveal that poverty, social exclusion, marginalization, limited parental formal education, lack of awareness, inadequate schools, geographical isolation, poor living conditions, limited engagement or responsiveness of garden authorities, and behavioral challenges significantly hinder students' participation and achievement of tea garden children's education. The study recommends multi-stakeholder interventions, including improved wages and living conditions for tea workers, secondary and vocational education facilities within tea garden areas, teacher training on inclusive pedagogies, and active parental engagement programs. Such measures are important to bridging the existing disparities and ensuring inclusive education for tea garden children in Bangladesh.

India has a rich tradition of higher learning from ancient times. A tradition of learning seems to be initiated from the forest Ashramas and grows further in the historic developments to the skyscraper monasteries like Nalanda. The Buddhist Education System evolved vis-à-vis Vedicas and Jainas, but overshadows the other two from the period of the Great Emperor Asoka till the invasions from Arabs and other counter-revolutionary attempts. After the schism in Buddhist Sangha into Hinayana and Mahayana and especially following the decline in Maurya dynasty, increase in Mahayana activities was seen. During the heyday of Buddhist Universities in India many of the great Buddhist scholars reported to be the follower of Mahayana hence helped in the growth of historic Buddhist universities devoted to the Great Vehicle mostly. Unfortunately when we look for the sources for the Hinayana learning centers like Valabhi, a very few references are left scattered in the history about the education system. These (Hinayana) learning centers were equally superior in case of its education system and its scholar teachers, but remain unreported in the History. During his visit Hyuen Tsang prominently mentioned Valabhi as the Hinayana learning center, but when we go through the report of all three Chinese travelers we are given more information of Mahayana following Universities than those of Hinayana. Historians compare the Nalanda university tradition to understand the Valabhi to come to an unclear conclusion; coincidentally they speak more of Nalanda and Taxila than the Valabhi. Therefore, the attempt of this paper is to connect different threads of references in the history about Buddhist Monastic education at ancient Vallabhi to develop a better understanding about the remnants of the center.

This study examines the cognitive and emotional consequences faced by ambitious students in low-resource educational environments, particularly in developing countries where systemic barriers limit access to advanced learning opportunities. Through a review of existing literature and a theoretical framework grounded in educational psychology, the paper explores the interplay between resilience, learned helplessness, and socio-economic constraints. The findings highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions that not only provide material resources but also foster adaptive coping strategies, ensuring that ambition does not become a source of psychological distress in underprivileged youth.

The role of executive body of Bangladesh regarding recent cases of extrajudicial killings have been subjected to severe criticism. As the right to life is guarded by the constitution of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh, the governing authority is supposed to protect the right. In this paper we tried to bring a picture of the much talked extrajudicial killing, the scenario of the corresponding authority and the impacts stringed along with the problem. For the purpose, primarily we had to depend on secondary data. The data primarily we used are based direct interview and statistics.

As a small island nation situated in the heart of the Indian Ocean, maritime security constitutes a fundamental component of Sri Lanka's overall national security architecture. Despite this strategic importance, Sri Lanka has yet to articulate its maritime security interests in any official government policy document or to develop a comprehensive maritime security strategy. Although various state institutions have independently attempted to address maritime security concerns, the absence of a coordinated and integrated approach highlights the urgent need for a structured national maritime security framework. Developing such a strategy requires a systematic assessment of current and emerging maritime threats, an evaluation of existing capacities, and the identification of additional resources and capabilities necessary to counter these challenges effectively.

Japan's foreign policy has undergone a substantial transformation since the end of the Cold War, with a heightened emphasis on South Asia, which is a result of the region's increasing economic and geopolitical significance. However, strained relations over issues like the Nanking Massacre, the Senkaku Islands, and China's rising influence have prompted Japan to refocus its engagement towards South Asia, particularly India and Bangladesh. This paper examines Japan's involvement in Bangladesh's strategic projects through Official Development Assistance (ODA) and assesses the mutual benefits for both nations. It argues that while Japan's support is crucial for Bangladesh's sustainable development, it also presents challenges that must be managed to maximize outcomes. By enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Japanese-backed initiatives, Bangladesh can leverage this partnership for long-term growth while addressing potential risks inherent in foreign aid dependency.

Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, there was renewed hope for press freedom in Bangladesh. Over the past 15 years, journalists and news organizations operated under an authoritarian regime marked by censorship, draconian laws, threats, etc. This study examines whether the current interim government has led to any substantial improvement in press independence. Using Hallin and Mancini’s Media System Theory, the study took a qualitative approach to create interview questions that focused on journalists’ experiences, comparing the media situation under the old government and the current interim government. A total of eleven (N=11) in-depth interviews were conducted with veteran journalists from both urban and rural regions. Thematic analysis was done using an inductive approach, which involved open and axial coding to find patterns in the data. Findings suggest that while the regime has changed, the same power structures of control over the media remain the same. Ownership concentration, political interference, and fear continue to suppress the press freedom.

This essay, offered in honour of Prof. Claudine Bautze-Picron, discusses three inscribed early medieval sculptures coming from Bihar in India. Two of these sculptures depict the Buddha seated in bhadrāsana, one of which is a rare bejewelled example, both seemingly performing the Great Miracle at Śrāvastī and the teaching of the First Sermon at Sārnāth. The third image represents an elusive (Buddhist?) deity named Puṇḍeśvarī. On the basis of their donative inscriptions mentioning the name Tentadīgrāma, we can now conclusively attribute this ancient locality as the modern village of Tetrawan in the Nalanda district of Bihar.

In Islam, marriage is a sacred institution established on mutual respect, responsibility, and compassion between a man and a woman. In this relationship, dower (mahr) is a mandatory right granted to the wife, symbolizing her dignity and security. The Holy Qur'an states: "And give the women [upon marriage] their bridal gifts graciously." (Surah An-Nisa, 4:4). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The most blessed marriage is the one with the least expenses." (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1887). From the Islamic perspective, dower is not just a ceremonial formality but a moral and financial commitment from the husband. It provides the wife with an initial layer of financial protection and instills a sense of responsibility in the husband from the very beginning of the marital bond.

Bangladesh has made impressive progress in agriculture sector in the last three decades and has almost become self-sufficient in food grain production. This is a tremendous achievement owing to its small territory and huge population and this was achieved through agricultural mechanization and modernization. Irrigation is one of the leading inputs has direct influence to increase yield, food grains production and plays vital role for ensuring food security in Bangladesh. The present study examined the growth of irrigated area and its impact on food grain production during last three decades. Time series data were used for the study. Different statistical methods such as mean, percentage, linear and exponential growth model were applied for getting meaningful findings. Various technologies have been used for irrigating crops which have contributed to rapid expansion of irrigated area. The conventional irrigation methods (Low Lift Pump, Dhone, Swing Basket, Treadle Pump etc.) were replaced by modern methods (i.e Deep Tube Well and Shallow Tube Well). In addition, surface water irrigation also sharply declined, losing its importance due to lack of new surface irrigation project and the ineffectiveness of earlier project. Groundwater covered 77 percent of total irrigated area and major (62%) extractions occurred through Shallow Tube Wells (STWs). The rapid expansion of ground water irrigation in respect to STWs irrigation was due to government's withdrawal on restrictions on tube well setting rule, encouraging private sector and the cost effectiveness of Chinese engine which have been affordable to the small and medium farmers. Irrigated area thus, increased by about three times and cropping intensity also increased from 154 to 176 percent. Boro rice, an irrigated crop, consumed 73 percent of the total crop irrigation and contributed to a greater extent in total rice production in Bangladesh. Boro rice alone contributed to 55 percent of total food grain and was also highest (3.44 MT per hectare) compared to aus rice (1.66 MT per hectare) and aman rice (1.99 MT per hectare) per unit production. Consequently, the cultivated area of boro rice increased by 1168 to 4068 thousand hectares. The higher productivity of boro rice has almost helped the nation to meet her food requirements (about 24 Million MT). Boro rice production was highly correlated (r = .978) with irrigated area. Expansion of one hectare of irrigated area added 3.22 MT of boro rice in Bangladesh. Finally, the study suggested for expansion of irrigated areas (ground water and surface water), adoption of modern technologies and formulation of farmers' friendly policy.

This is a report on a qualitative study undertaken as part of the Inclusion Works programme, aiming to reach a group who are not often included in research studies. A researcher based in Bangladesh asked 10 people with disabilities in the country to tell us about their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. They had different types of disabilities such as intellectual, physical, visual and multiple disabilities.
