The present study deals with the morphology and taxonomy of ant species Leptogenys processionalis from of Aurangabad city with the help of scanning electron microscopy. The Scanning electron microscopy facilitates to confiscate confusions in morphological features in related species with better resolution and clarity. Based on the body profile such as head, antennal scrobe over the eye, thorax, abdomen etc. species are recognized. Two new ant species from the Philippines, Forelophilus stefanschoedli sp. nov. and Forelophilus philippinensis sp. nov., are described, illustrated and compared with the type species, Forelophilus overbecki Kutter, 1931 from Java, Indonesia, hitherto the only species described in the genus. Forelophilus stefanschoedli sp. nov.

The ant genus Meranoplus is reported for the first time from the Arabian Peninsula (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) by the new species M. pulcher sp. n., based on the worker caste. Specimens were collected from Al Sarawat and Asir Mountains of southwestern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using pitfall traps. Meranoplus pulcher sp. n. is included in the Afrotropical M. magretii-group, with greatest similarity to M. magrettii André from Sudan. A key to the Afrotropical species of the M. magretii-group is presented. A brief review of the ant taxa with Afrotropical affinities in southwestern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is given.

The species of Meranoplus Smith, 1853 of the Arabian Peninsula are reviewed based on the worker caste. Two species are recognized, keyed, and illustrated by Scanning Electron Microscope images (SEM), Meranoplus mosalahi and M. pulcher, Sharaf, 2014. Meranoplus mosalahi sp. n. is described from the Dhofar Governorate, Oman based on the worker caste. The new species belongs to the M. magrettii-group and closely resembles M. pulcher Sharaf, 2014 from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), from which it can be distinguished by the bicolored body, the shallowly concave anterior clypeal margin, the absence of well-developed anterior clypeal teeth, the fewer irregular longitudinal cephalic rugae, and the feeble longitudinal rugae on posterior face of petiolar node.

The genus Rosacris Bolívar, 1931 is a pygmy grasshopper (Orthoptera: Tetrigidae) genus hitherto known only from a holotype male of its type species Rosacris antennata Bolívar, 1931 from Makiling Mt. (Luzon island, the Philippines) and originally assigned to the Discotettiginae. Redescription of the genus and its type species are based on the holotype and a new photographic record of the species (Isarog Mt.) found in Flickr (www.fl ickr.com). The holotype is found to be male nymph rather than an adult animal. The species is morphologically similar to members of the genus Metamazarredia Günther, 1939 from the Philippines. Therefore the genus is transferred from the subfamily Discotettiginae to Metrodorinae. Assumption exists that the specimens hitherto identifi ed as R. antennata represent nymphs of Metamazarredia fuscipes (Stål, 1877).

Temnothorax elmenshawyi sp. n., a new ant species from the Asir Mountains of the southwestern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is described based on the worker caste. the new species is a member of the T. exilis species group and is distinguished from the other species included in this group by the impressed metanotal groove, the short, acute and broadly-based propodeal spines, the finely punctate posterior half of cephalic surface, and absence of a median clypeal carina. Despite extensive collecting by the authors at the type locality, only two specimens are available for description, suggesting that this species may be rare and likely endemic to the Asir Mountains. the species description is complemented by still images of volume renderings of a 3D model and a 3D rotation video of the holotype based on x-ray microtomography (micro-ct), allowing remote in-depth examination of the specimen. the virtual micro-ct data is provided as cybertype dataset and freely available online https:// doi.org/10.5061/dryad.4gg39k6, as well as 3D surface model (Sketchfab.com, https://skfb.ly/6HYRz). An updated identification key to the Arabian species is presented. The ant genus Temnothorax Mayr 1 is one of the largest genera in the Family Formicidae with 450 valid species and subspecies known worldwide from all zoogeographic regions 2-5. Species of this genus inhabit a wide range of habitats from deserts to rainforests 6. The taxonomic history of the genus is relatively long and complex including the synonymy with Leptothorax Mayr, 1855 2,7 and subsequent removal from synonymy 8-10. The complete nomen-clatorial history of the genus is available in Bolton 3. Recently, Prebus 5 reviewed the evolution, biography, and natural history of the genus postulating a Nearctic origin during the Eocene-Oligocene with a shift to arboreal nesting habits during the Oligocene. The genus Temnothorax is diagnosed for the Arabian Peninsula by the following characters for the worker caste 11 : Antennae 12-segmented with a 3-segmented club; mandibles armed with five teeth; palp formula 5, 3; clypeus broadly inserted posteriorly between frontal lobes; anterior clypeal margin convex in full-face view, not forming an apron over mandibular surface in profile; promesonotal suture absent; propodeum bidentate. Members of the T. exilis species group can be characterized by the following characters 12 : colour usually dark brown or black; promesonotal suture distinct; propodeal spines short and acute; petiolar node in profile triangular ; body sculpture feeble. The status of the taxon Ceratochodaeus Huchet, 2017 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea), initially described as a subgenus of Nothochodaeus Nikolajev, 2005, is reconsidered and raised to generic level. New information on the distribution of Ceratochodaeus eliotti (Huchet, 2014), new combination, in the Philippine archipelago is provided. The fire ants of the Solenopsis geminata species-group of Trager (1991) are revised based on the morphology of worker larvae and of adult forms of workers, males, and gynes (winged or dealated members of the queen caste). The amount of intraspecific variation occurring in the adult males and gynes was equivalent to that of workers, making the taxonomic information gained from these castes no better than information from the workers. A new species, S. metallica, is described from southern Brazil, based on adult workers, adult gynes, males, and worker larvae. The following classification changes are made: S. virulens is placed in the S. virulens species-group; S. tridens and S. substituta are placed in the S. tridens species-group; S. metallica new species, S. daguerrei, S. electra, S. hostilis, S. interrupta, S. invicta, S. macdonaghi, S. megergates, S. pusillignis, S. pythia, S. quinquecuspis, S. richteri, S. saevissima, and S. weyrauchi are placed in the S. saevissima species-group; and S. geminata, S. xyloni, S. amblychila, S. aurea, S. gayi, and S. bruesi are left in the S. geminata species-group. The older classification, which designated complexes and subcomplexes, is abandoned. For the S. saevissima species-group, adults of males and gynes, as well as worker larvae, are described and diagnosed for each species. Diagnoses and keys (dichotomous and tabular) are provided for adult workers, the most commonly collected material, and distributions of the species are summarized.

The queen caste of the Arabian species Meranoplus pulcher Sharaf, 2014 is described and illustrated for the first time. The queen caste of the species is apparently rare with only a single specimen collected over a two-year period of intensive field work in southwestern Asir Mountains of Saudi Arabia. Romblonella coryae sp. n. is described from Palawan Island. It is the second species known from the province of Palawan, Philippines. Romblonella coryae differs from R. opaca (F. Smith, 1861) (=R. grandinodis Wheeler 1935) in possessing the following characters: a longitudinally costulate first gastral tergite; a subrectangular head (with CI not exceeding 90); compound eyes located at midlength of head; a narrow median clypeus, only as wide as frontal lobe; and a strikingly bi-colored mesosoma. The worker caste of R. grandinodis is remeasured and rediagnosed and a lectotype and paralectotypes are designated. A key to the two species, a distribution map, and a short discussion are provided.

The ant genus Odontomachus Latreille is reviewed for Sumatra, the sixth largest island in the world and located in western Indonesia. Previously three species were recorded from the island: O. simillimus F. Smith, O. rixosus F. Smith, and O. latidens Mayr. We add two species to the fauna, O. procerus Emery stat. nov and Odontomachus minangkabau sp. nov. The new species belongs to O. rixosus species group, and it is morphologically most similar to O. rixosus and O. para-rixosus Terayama & Ito. However, it can be separated from the latter two by its large body (HL 3.13–3.55 mm, WL 4.15– 4.65 mm), the masticatory margin with 11–14 denticles, and dark-colored body. Odontomachus latidens subsp. suma-tranus Emery is newly synonymized with O. procerus. The castes and sexes of the known species are also described, including the first descriptions of the male for O. latidens, O. procerus, and O. rixosus. A key to the Sumatran species based on the worker caste is provided, and the bionomics of each species is summarized.

A new species of carpenter ant, collected in the Shivalik range of Himalaya is described and illustrated based on the worker and gyne castes under the name Camponotusparabarbatus sp. n. Presence of dense, short setae on gena and ventral surface of head resembles it most to Camponotusbarbatus Roger, 1863 distributed in Southeast Asia. A regional identification key of Camponotus species is provided from the Shivalik hills of Indian Himalaya.

A major worker of Camponotus mississippiensis Smith crawling on a split section of a twig of white ash (Fraxinus americanus L.) located in the Sessums community in Oktibbeha County. A colony of these ants was discovered nesting inside of the hollowed center portion of this twig, which was between 1.5 and 2 cm in diameter.
