AI

The competition for leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) is multifaceted and global, with ethical considerations that challenge both military and civilian applications. Unlike the secretive nuclear arms race of the Cold War, AI research is broadly collaborative, shared among both public and private sectors worldwide. Managing the rapid advancements in AI technology, while mitigating potential dangers—such as autonomous weaponry—presents an unprecedented challenge, requiring careful stewardship to harness beneficial applications and safeguard against negative outcomes.
