In the technological sense, artificial intelligence represents software that has advanced capabilities for rapid analysis of huge amounts of data and that can be trained to not only make decisions independently, based on pre-set parameters, but also to implement them into action, either exclusively through software or applied to hardware equipment of different types. Therefore, artificial intelligence cannot be defined uniquely, but we can see and classify it in different ways, according to the different angles from which we observe its development and application. However, one should take into account its shortcomings and the possibility of errors that the use of this new technology can lead to. On the security side, artificial intelligence also brings us numerous new opportunities, but also new risks, which we must be aware of. These can be risks arising from the very use of artificial intelligence, which in certain cases can turn from an advantage into a weak point of the systems in which it is applied. The improvement of the security sector through the use of these new software tools is reflected, among other things, in speeding up the flow and increasing the accuracy of information, as well as in lowering the costs of numerous bureaucratic and logistical activities within the army, police or border police. However, the advantages of artificial intelligence are currently most evident in the field of cyber security. From the legal point of view, artificial intelligence brings us mostly only numerous challenges, given that it is a technology, a human creation, which is able to independently, if we allowed it, to make decisions and take actions, which sets a precedent in human history. However, it is necessary to find a balance between regulation and rapid development, and not allow the fear that new technologies inevitably bring when we do not know them, to affect the real use and the further growth and development of the opportunities provided by a technology as powerful as artificial intelligence.

Initially grounded in the physical characteristics of territories, modern geopolitics, influenced by digital tools, has shifted to a more intangible domain. The interconnectedness brought about by digital technologies has blurred the boundaries between internal and external state affairs, reshaping how geopolitical power is understood and exercised. As new technologies such as artificial intelligence, large datasets, and digital infrastructure gain prominence, they become new tools in global competition. While digital geopolitics democratizes participation, enabling individuals to influence international discourse, it also presents challenges, such as the potential misuse of these tools. Furthermore, the rise of digital geopolitics reflects a critical approach, where ideological and political phenomena are redefined through digital means. This transformation leads to the merging of traditional and modern power dynamics, making geopolitics more accessible but also more complex in terms of influence, representation, and global rivalry.

In modern armed conflicts, artificial intelligence (AI) is used both in various forms of software tools, which help situational analysis and faster decision-making, and in the form applied to hardware when they enable faster identification of targets and more precise targeting. This paper presents forms of artificial intelligence that are most commonly used in today’s conflicts. Also, particular emphasis is placed on the use of cyber weapons, which represent ever more significant element of modern conflicts. However, the risks that occur when using AI are also stressed. Although its use reduces certain traditionally recognized risks, new risks emerge resulting from the use of these powerful tools for the purposes of conflicts. The conclusion is that this new technology enables us, as a society, more „humane“ conflicts, with fewer victims and less damage, and yet, the use of that technology still depends on people and their reasons for conflicts.
