THE IMPACT OF SYRIAN REFUGEE CRISIS ON NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

This article analyses the Syrian refugee crisis in neighboring countries, emphasizing the complex political, economic, and social dynamics that hinder sustainable solutions. It explores the Syrian regime's reluctance to facilitate the return of refugees, the regional challenges faced by host countries like Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan, and the limited influence of international actors such as the European Union. The article argues that addressing the refugee issue in isolation is futile without a broader political agreement and highlights the potential for localized solutions to improve conditions for refugees and host communities. The Syrian refugee crisis is depicted as a multifaceted challenge that remains unresolved, requiring concerted efforts for meaningful progress.

This paper looks at the impact of economics growth across most Syrian refugees host countries after the civil war in Syria in March 2011. Based on the figures by UNHCR, as of September 2017, there are 3168757 Syrian refugees living in Turkey, 122203 in Egypt, 244235 in Iraq, 654582 Jordan and 1011366 in Lebanon. (http://data.unhcr.org/syrianrefugees/country.php?id=122 ,01.09.2017). It is inevitable that the massive influx of Syrian refuges into those countries provides cheap informal labour. Not to mention, there are high volume of funding flowing into host countries with the largest $556.765.964,00 to Lebanon, second largest $ 431.185.844,00 to Jordan and finally the third largest $300.505.418,00 to Turkey based on the figures by UNHCR (September 2017). This paper compares whether there is any sensible link between the percentage change in the number of Syrian refugees and some of the main macroeconomic variables such as GDP, CPI, import, export and unemployment in the host country. Findings support that the percentage change in the number of Syrian refugees and macroeconomic variables move along the same direction.

This paper discusses the newly issued World Bank report on the welfare of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan, based on the analysis of UNHCR data. It points some significant aspects not addressed, especially the effects Syrian pre-crisis public policies. It highlights the gap between the lack of proper socioeconomic assessment of both refugees’ and hosting communities and the fact that resilience and integration policies are already been negotiated with the Lebanese and Jordanian governments. This is while there no such efforts dealing with Egypt, Iraq and mainly Turkey, who are receiving large numbers of refugees. In addition, the Civil Society organizations are channeling a large share of the humanitarian aid, while they have, as well as the Syrian refugees’ and hosting communities, no proper voice in the debate. The paper presents a framework of a post-conflict development model for recovery and reconstruction. It advocates a common cooperative development scheme for Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. Such a scheme is based on cross-border regional cooperation and on creating positive expectations for post-conflict development, which should start swiftly in the regions hosting the refugees. Infrastructures, public services, health and education are priorities. Incentives should be developed to create decent employments, to reduce inequalities, and to fix and encourage the return of refugees, in particular the highly skilled. The efforts of the international community should be coordinated towards enhancing the efficiency and accountability of the local and countries’ governance and institutions, circumventing the dynamics of war economy. The general sanctions on the Syrian population should be reviewed and lifted to enable economic development.

As a result of Turkey's " open door policy " , it is now hosting refugees more than its critical threshold which led to a huge economic stemming and is impacting the country socially, ethically, economically and culturally. With limited assistance provided by the international community, Turkey is now struggling to cope with the growing numbers. The paper intends to provide a profound analysis on how the displacement crisis has impacted Turkey and its shift on the refugee policies in order to encompass long term solutions.

The study examines the issue of Syrian refugees in jordan in the field of international relation and the effectiveness of the international community organization and international bodies in resolving this crisis and show the role of intenational community and host country to manage this issue .This study based on the analytical descriptive and approach to review the most important problems related to psychological, family, and economic dimension. In addition, study if there are statistically significant differences in the problems experienced by the Syrian refugees due to demographic variables (gender, number of family members).the results show that the most prominent problems of ther refugees family and the average extent of their failure to benefit from the guidance programs provided to them and on other hand the Economic Disability of the host country to assist Syrian refugees.

, conducts advanced research on global migration to serve migration governance needs at European level, from developing, implementing and monitoring migration-related policies to assessing their impact on the wider economy and society. Rationale Migration represents both an opportunity and a challenge. While well-managed migration may foster progress and welfare in origin-as well as destination countries, its mismanagement may put social cohesion, security and national sovereignty at risk. Sound policy-making on migration and related matters must be based on knowledge, but the construction of knowledge must in turn address policy priorities. Because migration is rapidly evolving, knowledge thereof needs to be constantly updated. Given that migration links each individual country with the rest of the world, its study requires innovative cooperation between scholars around the world.

One of the most dramatic consequences of the Syrian civil war has been the massive displacement of civilians in and outside of Syria. Syrian refugees now constitute more than a quarter of the population in Lebanon. Although the government declared a policy of disassociation – a policy of professed neutrality regarding Syria – this has been undermined due to the presence of a plethora of actors with differing interests. Refugee flow has had severe impacts on national security and the economy, leading to further destabilization in Lebanon. The refugee flow has placed a serious burden on public services delivery including education, healthcare, housing, sanitation, water, and electricity, as well as on physical infrastructure which has lacked adequate capacity. Labor competition and the feeling that Syrians receive different financial treatment has generated ambivalent attitutes and resentments among locals. Both government and public concerns regarding the Syrian crisis and refugees may increase sectarian volatility and deepen pre-existing tensions due to the long and tortured history of Syria-Lebanon relations and increasing involvement of Hezbollah in Syria. One extreme risk might be the militarization of refugees. A strong government and regional/international support are vital for Lebanon to ensure stability in such a destabilizing situation.
