Despite that the system of higher education has been greatly affecting during the crisis of COVID-19, the Higher Education institutions forced to adapt to the new situation quickly and change the models of education from traditional system to distance learning system because of the increasing of student enrollments. Distance learning can be regarded as learning that predominates entirely through the internet. It has been implemented because of the pandemic of Covid 19. According to Chaney (2010: 5-21), it is also referred to as distance learning, which is a swiftly flourishing setting that allows teachers and students and all people working in all domains the flexibility of working beyond the restraints of time and place. Also, this shift from face-to-face lectures to online classes is the only possible solution. Nevertheless, academic institutions would not be capable of converting all of their college curricula into an online resource overnight. Distance, scale, and personalized learning are the three biggest challenges for online learning. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to shed light on the challenges of online learning for students at the university level. And then to try to find out the possible solutions and recommendations to enhance online learning for the benefit of students.

The study aimed to identify the trends of faculty members in the Faculty of Education at Taibah University towards distance education in light of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19), and to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical approach was used, and the questionnaire was used as a study tool. The College of Education at Taibah University, in the first semester of the academic year (1442 AH), totaling (152) faculty members. The results of the study showed that the attitudes of faculty members in the College of Education at Taibah University towards distance education in light of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) came in a moderate degree. The study also showed that there are no statistically significant differences at a significance level (0.05) between the averages of the study sample's trends towards distance education in light of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) due to the study variables (academic department, degree, gender). The study recommended the importance of adopting distance education as an effective strategic alternative to continue the educational process in the event of emergency or natural accidents, and to benefit from the best practices of Saudi universities in the field of distance education.

World Journal on Educational Technology: Current Issues

COVID-19 has changed the field of education. This paper aimed to re-envision the post-pandemic higher education landscape in Saudi Arabia. This study employed descriptive-qualitative research design. Twenty postgraduates completed a journal task at a public university in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The responses revealed their first-hand experience of multi-sectorial communities caused by the COVID-19 lockdown, including students, parents and teachers. Results showed that there are seven positive and eight negative impacts of emergency distance education caused by the pandemic lockdown and various themes have emerged, including Social and Educational. To succeed in the post-pandemic era, teachers need to acquire online pedagogical content knowledge and teaching strategies, conduct effective student evaluation and engage students in both virtual and in-person labs and classrooms. This study contributes to quality access of students toward online learning in countries, where distance education is still in its infant stage, such as Saudi Arabia.

Because of COVID-19, distance learning was adopted by the majority of educational institutions as a strategy to ensure the continuity of education. In Morocco, forcing students to change their traditional learning methods has put them through an unprecedented learning experience. This study aims at investigating Moroccan university students of English experiences with distance learning during the pandemic in terms of readiness, satisfaction and perceived barriers. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers relied on an exploratory descriptive approach through a self-developed online questionnaire involving 138 respondents. Technological advances and the COVID-19 pandemic have led to a significant paradigm shift in the field of education, especially in the field of distance education. In this period, although distance education offers a number of advantages to its users, it has also brought some difficulties. This sudden transition has had a profound impact on students, teachers, and institutions, leading to changes in teaching methods, assessment practices, and student engagement strategies. This study aims to investigate the problems that arise in the distance education process and to examine the effects of these problems on students in detail. A qualitative approach is considered ideal since it enables deeper understanding of experiences of university students during distance education. Convenience sampling was chosen because it provided easy access for the researchers and allowed the inclusion of participants who met the required criteria. The participants consisted of 37 people, 28 girls and 9 boys, who had experienced the distance education and were studying in the Psychological Counselling and Guidance programme in the second year of a state university located in the Aegean region of Türkiye. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed using content analysis and thematic analysis methods. According to the findings of the study, the problems encountered by the students in the distance education process were listed under the following main themes: technological problems, problems related to the monitoring and evaluation of the course, motivation problems, emotional and physical problems, communication problems, problems related to domestic and environmental factors, feeling of professional inadequacy. In addition, students' suggestions for solutions to these problems and their opinions about whether they prefer face-to-face or online education were also discussed. As a result, the study offers suggestions for educational institutions and educators to overcome the difficulties encountered in distance education and to make the experience a positive one.

In Morocco, as in many countries, education stakeholders have, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, had to ensure pedagogical continuity and have been forced to switch urgently to distance education. The purpose of this work is to see how the experience of online education was lived in an educational context where distance was not in the forefront. Indeed, this unpremeditated paradigm shift was a real challenge. In order to provide elements of an answer to our research question, we developed a structured questionnaire in four dimensions. Through the first dimension, we identified the general information on the respondent population that constitute the variables of our study. The other three dimensions revolve around use and satisfaction with the platforms, educational resources and communication tools used. The results obtained allowed us to highlight students' preferences in terms of platforms and educational resources. Finally, the results of our study seem to show that despite the ingenuity deployed by teachers to ensure pedagogical continuity in times of crisis, student satisfaction remains very average.

The aim of this study is to reveal universities students' perspective and understand their preferences on distance learning, due to the change happened on education process as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and universities lockdown. This shift in education from traditional classroom learning to distance learning might be one of the largest educational experiments to date. As the online learning process has become more prevalent in UAE due to COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes particularly important to understand students' experiences, and most important revealing their perspective and preferences. This research was therefore designed to understand the student's perspective, challenges, and attitudes about distance learning being conducted at the University. The study employed a descriptive survey. The data was collected using online questionnaire. The present study was carried out amongst students at University of Dubai. Using simple random sampling technique for the study, 133 responses were collected. The results showed that 55% of the students liked distance learning. The analysis revealed 26% would like to study 100% online, while majority of students 49% are in favor of studying through blended learning system which is combination of online and in-class, therefore, Ministry of Education should develop certain rules and guidelines wherein universities are urged to continue offering blended learning system.

This study explores the graduate students of the faculty of educational science's perceptions towards distance learning during the corona crisis at Mutah University. The study involved 125 graduate students attending Doctorate, Master, and High Diploma programs in Educational Sciences at Mutah University in the second semester of academic year 2020\2021. Data had collected among graduate students of the faculty of educational sciences of Mutah University, Al-Karak, Jordan, through an online questionnaire.
