This study combines two aspects of particular interest in the field of translation: the study of ... more This study combines two aspects of particular interest in the field of translation: the study of proper names, which, having a particular idiosyncrasy, make for especially interesting analysis in an interlinguistic context, and audiovisual translation, which, on account of the inherent restrictions governing a text of this nature, has particular characteristics. The precise aim of this study will be to analyse how proper names are dealt with in the two most established forms of audiovisual translation – dubbing and subtitling – using the German film Berlin is in Germany as an object of study. The Spanish dubbed and subtitled versions of the original German text will be analysed to determine the extent to which these two techniques may influence the final result, given the specific limitations of each form

Bei der Untersuchung der Ubersetzungsproblematik von kulturspezifischen Elementen geht es darum, ... more Bei der Untersuchung der Ubersetzungsproblematik von kulturspezifischen Elementen geht es darum, diese Konzepte begrifflich abzugrenzen, inhaltlich und sprachlich zu klassifizieren sowie die Problematik ihrer Ubersetzung zu beschreiben. Bei der Filmsynchronisierung sind auserdem die Merkmale und besonderen Bedingungen des Mediums und des audiovisuellen Textes zu berucksichtigen. Die Zielsetzung dieser Studie ist, die Ubersetzung von kulturspezifischen Elementen der Filmsynchronisierung (Deutsch-Spanisch) zu analysieren. Wir schlagen ein Zwei-Ebenen-Modell vor: Die erste Ebene berucksichtigt die Art der erfahrenen sprachlichen Bearbeitung. Auf der zweiten Ebene wird die kulturelle Orientierung der Ergebnisse untersucht. Danach werden einige Schlussfolgerungen aus der spanischen Synchronfassung gezogen.

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo conocer el tratamiento dado al subtitulado para personas ... more El presente estudio tiene como objetivo conocer el tratamiento dado al subtitulado para personas sordas y personas con discapacidad auditiva en lengua alemana (Untertitel für Gehörlose und Hörgeschädigte, UGH) y en español (SPS) a lo largo de las últimas décadas. Para ello se analizará esta modalidad de traducción audiovisual en varias películas producidas entre 1981 y 2018, centrándonos en aquellos parámetros más característicos de este tipo de subtitulado. Desde el punto de vista diacrónico, el análisis nos permitirá ver la evolución que el subtitulado para personas sordas y personas con discapacidad auditiva ha experimentado a lo largo de estos años en cada una de las lenguas. Por otra parte, desde la perspectiva diatópica, observaremos también el comportamiento de esta variante de subtitulado a lo largo de estas décadas en Alemania y España, dos países de tradición dobladora.

En la literatura latina o literatura de origen hispano desarrollada en los Estados Unidos, es fre... more En la literatura latina o literatura de origen hispano desarrollada en los Estados Unidos, es frecuente el uso de la L3 o segunda lengua español en el texto y la alternancia de código entre este idioma y la lengua base inglés en el desarrollo de la escritura. Debido a esta particularidad, traducir una obra de estas características a otra lengua puede suponer un gran desafío para el traductor. El propósito de este artículo es determinar en qué modo influyen los factores soporte y receptor en el tipo de técnicas de traducción elegidas para llevar a cabo la transferencia de estos términos en L3. Para ello, se han comparado dos obras translingües con distinto tipo de receptor, la adaptación textual de la película Coco con receptor infantil y la novela In the Time of the Butterflies con receptor adulto y a su vez, dos obras con distinto tipo de soporte, una obra unimodal, de nuevo, la adaptación textual de la película Coco y una obra multimodal, la propia obra audiovisual. Resumen El año 2003 supuso en España un punto de inflexión en la estandarización de los subtítulo... more Resumen El año 2003 supuso en España un punto de inflexión en la estandarización de los subtítulos para sordos al publicarse la norma UNE 153010:2003 Subtitulado para personas sordas y personas con discapacidad auditiva. Subtitulado a través del teletexto, elaborada por la Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación (AENOR). Casi una década después, en 2012, esta norma es anulada y sustituida por la norma UNE 153010:2012. Subtitulado para personas sordas y personas con discapacidad auditiva, que, con un carácter más general, contempla todos los escenarios de la comunicación audiovisual y tiene como objetivo establecer unos requisitos mínimos de calidad y homogeneidad en el subtitulado para personas sordas y personas con discapacidad auditiva. A través de un estudio contrastivo entre ambas normas observaremos los avances que se han llevado a cabo y destacaremos aquellos aspectos más relevantes que debe tener en cuenta el subtitulador como creador de contenidos audiovisuales accesibles, consciente de que la finalidad de su trabajo es la eliminación de barreras, en este camino hacia la igualdad de oportunidades para este colectivo. This article studies the current situation of subtitling for the deaf and the hard of hearing in ... more This article studies the current situation of subtitling for the deaf and the hard of hearing in Spain and Germany from two perspectives. First of all, we present the regulatory framework governing the audiovisual sector and analyze the evolution that has taken place in the field of subtitling in television in both countries. Secondly, we describe the current situation with regards to university studies and qualifications in the field of media accessibility in Spain and Germany, focusing on the area of subtitling for the deaf and the hard of hearing. The study starts from the premise that quality education in the field of access to broadcast media should take into account the training of competent professionals in the field of audiovisual translation.

The objective of this dictionary is to provide service to users of the European genetics portal Eurogene and also to the international scientific community, with a subsequent electronic version and via the Internet.

Knowing the translation work conducted in the monasteries is a key element in the study of the hi... more Knowing the translation work conducted in the monasteries is a key element in the study of the history of translation in Spain. In this study we present the translation work from German into Spanish carried out by the Poor Clares in Spain in the Monasterio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Cantalapiedra (Salamanca, Spain). The Monastery translates the newsletter cTc comunione e comunicazione into Spanish. The publication is published in Rome for the Poor Clares around the world. It comprises various articles and information that arrives at the monastery in German, French, English and Italian. The present study aims to give recognition to authors and their translated works, as well as the changes in the number of translations over the last two decades. Thus it will highlight the aspects that characterize translator's work in his monastery of Poor Clares. The Order of Poor Sisters of Santa Clara (Ordo Sanctae Clarae, OSC) is one of the women's branches of the Second Franciscan Order, i.e. the Franciscan women.

La présente étude vise à analyser les stratégies employées par différents traducteurs pour la tra... more La présente étude vise à analyser les stratégies employées par différents traducteurs pour la traduction des noms propres dans les oeuvres littéraires. Sur la base de trois oeuvres de la littérature contemporaine en langue allemande, on analysera les traductions paires espagnoles de chaque traducteur, ce qui nous permettra, tout d’abord, de mettre en lumière les techniques utilisées dans la traduction des noms propres et leurs résultats, puis d’extrapoler à l’ensemble des trois doublets, pour voir s’il y a des aspects diachroniques qui distinguent les deuxièmes traductions (TM2) des premières traductions (TM1), c’est-à-dire s’il y a une relation entre la TM1 et TM2 analysées. L’analyse de la méthode employée par les six traducteurs est précédée d’une réflexion qui fournit des réponses à plusieurs questions liées aux propriétés idiosyncrasiques des noms propres et au traitement spécial en traduction.

In this study we approach the figure of the Dominican translator through a cast of religious figu... more In this study we approach the figure of the Dominican translator through a cast of religious figures who, from the fourteenth century to the present, have served as a bridge between languages and cultures. Missionaries in Africa and the Far East, renowned theologians and philosophers, admirers of Arabic and German culture, experts of Latin, Italian, French, English and Danish but also of Pangasinan and Ibanag. In short, a review of a selection of translators of the Order of Preachers gives us an idea of the important role that this Order has had and continues to have not only from a spiritual point of view but also in the world of culture, and artistic and intellectual heritage. What stands out in these translators is their dedication to theological and philosophical studies, their missionary work, and their teaching at universities. The Dominican Order emphasized these characteristics as the core of their studies and preaching.

Nos hemos acercado a la Orden Dominica buscando su relacion con el llamado septimo arte. En el presente estudio realizamos un acercamiento teorico-practico a las principales caracteristicas que definen el subtitulado de una pelicula multilingue. El objetivo de este artículo es sacar a la luz la figura de Sor Constanza de Castilla (s. XV), un... more El objetivo de este artículo es sacar a la luz la figura de Sor Constanza de Castilla (s. XV), una de las primeras traductoras en lengua castellana. Esta monja dominica es un ejemplo de cómo en esa época las mujeres pudieron acceder a un nivel cultural desde el que se iniciaron como escritoras y traductoras, dentro de la vida monacal y en el seno de la aristocracia. Sor Constanza de Castilla, de linaje real y ascendencia alemana, fue una influyente y poderosa priora que, en el seno del convento, no sólo compuso oraciones y obras devotas, sino que también fue recopiladora de textos y traductora, faceta esta última que más nos interesa poner en valor en este estudio. En esta investigación analizamos su obra, el manuscrito Devocio y Oficios, que se conserva en la Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid y que servía para la oración y el canto de los oficios a las monjas de su convento.
