Focus is placed on the strategic role of intellectual capital, through the leverage of creative and innovation capabilities, to strengthen and develop firms; thus emphasizing the micro-strategic perspective of dynamic capabilities in innovation processes of NTBFs. In addition, an evaluation of the role that Intellectual Capital Reports (ICR) play in this process and in the development of core competences, through implementation in almost 100 NTBFs located in science and technology parks of Madrid, is presented.

IADE develops activities of technical and scientific investigation, makes projects of technical assistance to different kind of organizations and makes a labour of postgraduate education. This chapter proposes that professors and doctoral students, from different countries and organizations, who carry out their research projects in IADE, work as an investigation Community of Practice (CoP) both in purpose, character and functionality, and develop a knowledge-creating process in a Ba. This chapter studies this process, describes the Ba and the investigation CoP as an element of the Ba. In order to get a deep understanding of these elements, we have chosen a case study as empirical research methodology and we have based our findings and conclusions in a previous theoretical analysi...

These capabilities can be viewed as dynamic capabilities. The concept of resilience highlights the ability to overcome trauma and the power to emerge more reinforced. Considering the concept of "lessons learned" serves as the basis for resilience in organizations. The dynamism and the turbulence of the environment lead us to a recurrent framework of lessons learned. There are two key factors: attitudes and culture. They can be transformed into a concept of resilience and the way of working to move from an attitude to an operational plane. One of the most operative ways to understand resilience would be to develop a comparative study. Kurtz D. J., Varvakis G., (2016). This study could be from different levels: comparison of organizations, sectors, countries, etc. According to Pavlou an El Sawy (2011), this as long as a solid theoretical framework is established. In addition, observing the scenario for an organization to develop resilient capabilities in a truly effective way Whitehorn, G. (2011).
Design/methodology/approach – In this work, the concept and characteristics of the "resilient capabilities of the organization" or "adaptive capabilities" generating innovation in the field of SMEs are presented. Also, the role of dynamic capabilities and intellectual capital (set of intangibles of the organization) that has been playing to date will be explained. In this research a methodological triangulation and a qualitative analysis to data on a Cases Study in NEBTs of the Scientific Park of Madrid and Colombian SMEs are realized. And will be completed with a quantitative analysis through the survey of these same two groups.
Originality/value – This methodology puts in evidence the concept that Kurtz and Varvakis (2016) take of Resiliencia from Walker et al. (2002) and Bhamra et al. (2011). Conceptual relationship that we can analyze in the application to the NEBTs, following and updating with new data and experiences that we have. In addition, the subject has to do with our contents of the Monograph of Industrial Economy on business dynamics as well with information collected from North, K. and Varvakis, G., (2016a). The issue focuses on the turbulence and instability of the environment or in the markets, so it is evident that it is necessary to energize SMEs, and specifically the NEBTs, to adapt and develop the innovation that these problems require.
Practical implications – One of the most operative ways to understand resilience would be to develop a comparative study. This study could be from different levels: comparison of organizations, sectors, countries, etc. This as long as a solid theoretical framework is established. In addition, observing the scenario for an organization to develop resilient capabilities in a truly effective way.

9th Conference on Intellectual Capital 2017: Intellectual Capital as Strategy to Develop Dynamic SMEs. A Proposal Model for Colombian SMEs.

Specifically, this work focuses on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), given their relevance at the international level, for their contribution to GDP and employment creation.
Particularly, because of their smaller size and low possession of tangible resources, they are vulnerable to the risks of the economic cycle. This forces them to develop capabilities to cope with these challenges and ensures their survival in the long term.
In this sense, the development of an adaptive dynamic capability constitutes one of the alternatives to achieve this. Given that these capabilities are located within the intangible assets of the organization, this work proposes, their combination as variables of the Intellectus Model components in which are integrated to achieve the required organizational "dynamization".
Based on a review of the literature of the dynamic capabilities and intellectual capital approach, this research proposes the variables of the main components of intellectual related with adaptive capability of organization . This results in a model adapted to the specific conditions of the Colombian SMEs, allowing its dynamization and adaptation to highly changing environments.

Furthermore, the maturity level of intellectual capital management capability (ICMC) models can be measured through the development and deployment of dynamic capabilities and this is particularly valuable in the case of small and medium sized organisations (SMEs).
