XIII, fino a oggi ignorato.

Mos. 135-139, this article discusses the reading deprensa and the conjecture defensa contained in two passages of Ausonius, reconstructing the poet's previous models (Vergil and Seneca) and tracing the subsequent influence of the expression via the metaphor of the whale in Claudian (Eutr. 2, 430-431) and Noah's ark in Arator (apost. 2, 682-684).

In this essay, I try to highlight the poetic technique, based on the contrast (solid - liquid, inside - outside, freedom - captivity/protection), and models (Vergil, Statius, and two cases of rewriting of Martial). Because of its literary (and philologic) value in the description of the crystal rock and of the physical characteristics, the lesson porrectam (carm. min. 36,1) could be recovered.

The essay provides some food for thought on the possible fortune of the Late Antique author starting from Columbanus up to Radulfus Tortarius, identifying in the greatest medieval poets (Aldhelm, Paul the Deacon, Sedulius Scotus) expressions, verbal sequences and original clauses of the poet of Ticinum. The last section is dedicated to the epigraphic field and above all to the Fortleben of notable iuncturae minted by Ennodius in some inscriptions of the 8th-9th century.

It deals with the following works: Bissula, Cento nuptialis, Commemoratio professorum Burdigalesium, Cupido cruciatus, Caesares, Eclogae, Ephemeris, Epicedion in patrem, Epigrammata, Epistulae, Epitaphia heroum. After a brief overview of the most recent editions and modern translations, eleven chapters examine critical perspectives, different interpretations and studies concerning each work.

The expression "pedibus per mutua nexis" would be part of the description of the husband’s phallus during the wedding night and not of the description of the intertwined bodies of the newlyweds. Its tangential connection with Proba’s Cento Vergilianus would no longer be explicable as a parodic allusion to this Christian writing.

Tracing literary sources, hitherto neglected by critics, we try to highlight a hidden imitation Alexandri: the allusion to the Macedonian conqueror could be reconstructed in a ring composition between the first distich of epigr. 3 and the last of epigr. 4, in which the hope that the emperor will find the sources of the Nile seems recall a belief that Alexander stood out in the geographical discovery.

In the commentary ad versum some alternative readings of senseless expressions and additions in the fragmentary side of the plate are provided. These are justified through the comparison of many loci similes in Latin poetry dedicated to the celebration of thermal waters (above all Statius and some epigrams of Anthologia Latina, but also Lucretius, Virgil, and Lucan).

This contribution aims to analyse the latest developments in the "Musisque Deoque Galaxy" both from the point of view of the tools created to enable new textual acquisitions and new analyses, and from the technological point of view, with reference to the work carried out to ensure a long-term sustainability.

The article stresses the intertextual link with previous poetic models (first Martial, but also Vergil, Statius, Persius and some late christian authors, as Sedulius and Sidonius Apollinaris). The revolting description of the blind man and the pestilent stench of his mouth, full of ocular fluid, could allude to both the scoptic topos of the cunnilinctio (or fellatio) and the dedication to excessive wine and food consumption.

II 71 H. = 190b V.) and the series of epigrams of Lucillius against the small and light people (AP IX 99-101, 106). The similarity does not seem random and implies that Ennodius read Greek text or Latin translations. In the third paragraph a new interpretation of the ballast, the saburra of Tribunus, is provised in an erotic key.

The study identifies as ideal and metaphorical model the mythological figure of the Sirens, who, although they are not
mentioned, are however evocated through the scopuli (frequently associated to the Sirens), the bewitchment of the travelers by the beauty of the landscape and the adjective blandae, often ascribed to the mythological bird-women. Furthermore, it emphasizes the formal elaboration of the verses and the intertextual relationship with ancient texts that describe landscapes of death and letal animals.

De anu quadam with the description of the miraculous pregnancy of Sara, Isaac's mother, in Sedulius' Carmen Paschale. The description constitutes a hybridization between the profane representation of the goddess (knot-hair, kestos) and the clothing of the virgins nuptae deo (cyclas, a purplish dress adorned with gems and pearls). Moreover, an important literary source, not yet noticed by the recent studies, is identified: an ingredient of the potion of the witch Erichto in Lucan. 6,678 indisputably explains the verse 77 et latet in concis melior custode veneno in the Epithalamium.

the paradigms relating to the topos of the Anrede an das Buch (Horatius, Martial, Optatianus Porphyrius, Ausonius), in light of the controversial relationship between the poet and Chindasvintus. Furthermore, the translation and the analysis of the dedicatory epistle to the Visigothic king illustrate the characteristic of Eugenius’ prose. Finally, the formal comparison between the epigram and the final recapitulatio sex dierum proves the aware intention of Eugenius to create a work worthy of an epigone of the classical philologists and the personal library of the king Chindasvintus.
