
Carlo Pisano
Carlo Pisano, architect, and PhD, since February 2022 he is assistant professor (tenure tracker - RtdB) of Urbanism and urban design at the University of Florence, Department of Architecture. In 2018 he obtained the National Scientific Appointment as an Associate Professor of Urbanism and urban design.
In 2016 he obtained the title of Doctor of Research in Architecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Cagliari and the Doctor Europaeus certification with the thesis entitled "Patchwork Metropolis. A theoretical model for the design of contemporary territories", tutor prof. Giorgio Peghin (UNICA), prof. Paola Viganò (IUAV-Venice, EPFL-Lausanne). In 2015 he was a Visiting Fellow at the Delft University of Technology (tutor prof. Wil Zonneveld). In 2011 he completed the European Postgraduate Master in Urbanism (EMU) at TU Delft.
In 2011 and 2012 he worked as an urban planner at Studio Associato Bernardo Secchi e Paola Viganò and since 2017 he has been scientific advisor to the Spaziozero Atelier group, winner of significant international awards including Europan 14 with the project for Wienerstrasse in Linz (AT).
He is the author of over 60 scientific publications including contributions to the journals Planning Practice & Research, Sustainability, Land, Urbanism, Crios, Tema, Monu, Tourism Planning & Development and Journal of Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainable Development.
He currently teaches Urban Design at the master’s degree course in Architecture and Urban Resilience at the master's degree course in Planning in the Italian and English curricula at the University of Florence. He also teaches Urban Design at the master’s degree course at the Catholic University of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Tirana, Albania.

Nella duplice veste di manifesto provocatorio e analisi rigorosa di un preciso contesto storico e territoriale, il discorso del patchwork attraversa molti preminenti temi della contemporaneità – la figura del frammento, la condizione periferica, l’assetto territoriale della metropoli – indagando struttura e funzionamento del modello urbano neo-liberale. A trent’anni dalla stesura, il lavoro di Neutelings non ha esaurito la sua attualità, proponendosi come un valido strumento per interpretare il territorio in cui viviamo e prefigurare nuovi scenari di sviluppo.
