Walter Leszl
Born in Italy in 1940, my career as a student closed with an Oxford Ph.D. in Philosophy (my dissertation is the Padua vol. of 1970). For a few years I only did research, in 1969-70 as a fellow of the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, then by contributing to a research program in Padua. In 1979-80, I kept a Stipendium of the Humboldt-Stiftung in Tubingen. My teaching-career has been on the History of Ancient Philosophy, first in Padua, then in Pisa, finally in Florence (I retired at the end of 2009). My research has been, and continues to be, concentrated on Aristotle, on Plato, on the Presocratics, with special attention for Democritus (see my edition and translation of 2009).
