Friedlind Riedel
My work is situated between music and sound studies, media philosophy, and anthropology. I have conducted ethnographic and archival research on deities (nats) in Myanmar and am currently working towards a new book project on Burmese music theatre (mid 19th century to the present). My writings on atmosphere and my interest in phenomenological approaches to music/sound have led me to become an editor of an Oxford Handbook on the phenomenology of music cultures by invitation. I am a fellow of the Graduiertenkolleg Medienanthropologie, a committee member of the RMA Music and Philosophy Study Group and a lecturer at Salzburg University.
