Even before the film or music, the video game industry seems to cope well with this digital turn. Being related to the dematerialization of content, the main upheavals have allowed the development of an independent and autonomous scene versus models of dominant industry in the market. However, the explosion of the supply of original productions has brought a keen competition, which forced the players of this former niche market to use new methods of communication, financing and development. Thus, at the origin of the movement of independent video games, the mechanisms of autonomy and sense of creative liberty find themselves increasingly subject to the needs and expectations of the video game players. Through the analysis of the components of the video game, as well as the study of its development process, this paper aims to give the keys to understanding and reasoning in order to determine the measures of emancipation of independent video game at present.
