The two things targeted in this article are the factors that caused the crisis of poetry as well as its role in the development of literature and its theories. The basic data was found in the library by referring to library methods, including careful reading. A review of the documents used to verify the primary data was obtained through electronic and library methods. The discussion of data was guided by the theory of New Historicism. One of its foundations is to explore literature and focus on the historical context and understand its culture and history through literary works. Therefore, literary works was viewed and interpreted within the context of the history of the author and the history of the reviewer. The results of the research have shown the linguistic, historical, academic, and political reasons that led to the emergence of the crisis of Kiswahili poetry in the 1960s and 1970s. It has also shown how the crisis launched poets' thoughts about their art and provided an opportunity for some of them to explain how they see their art. New fields and seas of Kiswahili poetry had a chance to emerge and flourish, including the flow and Bongo flavor. The publication and teaching of independent compositions began to be accepted and become part of school curricula. This article suggests that more research should be done on the reception of contemporary poetry, its growth and development, and its challenges in the academic, artistic, social, and temporal contexts.

This research involves both field and library work. Primary data was collected in Mbeya region. The researcher used interviews and careful observation to gather primary data. The sample was chosen based on specific characteristics to ensure accurate data; the selection focused on speakers and experts in the Swahili language. The study was guided by specific objectives including to identify new sayings within the Swahili community, especially in the Mbeya region. To achieve this, the researcher collected various sayings used in politics, economics, society, technology, and culture. The second objective was to identify metaphors in the collected sayings, determining if they represent new meanings or ideas. The assumption was that the emergence of sayings is not new, as sayings have always existed and drive communication. This study aimed to identify metaphors using the theory of Metaphor Essays by Lakoff and Johnson (1980). Results indicate that the meanings of pop-up sayings are neither new nor represent new ideas, but are new words used in different contexts. The metaphors in these sayings result from violations of semantic meanings during their formation. This article suggests that society, regardless of age, status, or gender, should accept language changes, as resisting time and linguistic evolution is futile; ultimately, language's primary role is communication.

Its specific aim is to examine how different societies perceive the role of witchcraft and superstition, focusing on the foundations of indigenous culture. Primary data were collected from the library through careful reading. A purposive sampling technique was used to select three genres of written literature: epic poetry, novels, and drama. These texts were deemed suitable for fulfilling the article's objective due to their distinctiveness. Some other texts were referenced occasionally to support and validate the primary data. The findings reveal that witchcraft and superstition are integral to social and spiritual arrangements rather than core aspects of philosophy itself. Witchcraft is not considered an African philosophy but is embedded in the culture and worldview. Likewise, African philosophy treats witchcraft as a part of life rather than its foundation. This article advocates that issues related to witchcraft and superstition should be studied as part of occult sciences, which ought to be made accessible to the broader public for the benefit of all.
