Dr. Ramesh B. Kuri obtained Master's from Karnatak University, Dharwad, and M.Phil from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Hyderabad. He cleared UGC-NET in LIS, and was conferred Ph.D from Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. With an academic experience of more than 12 years, he has served at prestigious institutions like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, as a ‘Library Trainee’ and as 'Project Assistant'. He has also worked with academic institutions like Jain College of Engineering and Management, Belagavi and Karnatak University, Dharwad as 'Librarian', and as 'Assistant Librarian' respectively. Dr Kuri is an Academic Counselor to Indira Gandi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi for UG and PG Programme, from 2023. Dr. Ramesh is fashionate in research and publications and has published 65 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and edited books. He has been awarded one short-term project on "Evaluation and Implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in higher educational institutions of Karnataka: A study" by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, and two minor research projects founded by Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Board (PMEB), Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. In addition to this he held responsibilities such as Assistant Registrar (Evaluation) for three years, Department Coordinator IQAC, and Placement Cell. Dr. Kuri is a life member of professional associations including IATLIS, ILA, KULISA, RCU-LISA, and RCUAA."

AN ASSESSMENT OF THE CURRENT STATUS OF GOVERNMENT FIRST-GRADE COLLEGE LIBRARIES IN KARNATAKA

The present study was envisaged to evaluate the status of the Government First Grade College libr... more The present study was envisaged to evaluate the status of the Government First Grade College libraries in the state of Karnataka. The college library manual was used to examine the status of libraries' staffing patterns, the proportion of grants, building space, furniture and ICT equipment, services, and library automation. A survey method with a quantitative approach was used and the data was collected using a questionnaire tool. A total of 249 filled-in copies of the questionnaires were obtained showing a response rate of 89.56%. The MS Excel and SPSS packages were used to process, tabulate, and validate the data collected. Inadequate support staff, lack of space, insufficient grants, poor collection, and lack of furniture and equipment were found in most of the GFGC libraries of Karnataka state. The investigator recommends that governing bodies should appoint fulltime librarians, and free up library grants for ICT implementation. The libraries already automated with proprietary software should migrate to open-source software. The study implies that there is a need to network all government and private-aided college libraries for common use to provide access to the resources of individual libraries and improve resource utilization. Participation in networking will benefit libraries in overcoming the problem of rising prices of information resources and insufficient library budgets.

This paper presents a quantitative study of source items published in JASIST Journal. It mainly f... more This paper presents a quantitative study of source items published in JASIST Journal. It mainly focuses on growth of source items; the citation and cited references cited; domain wise distribution of source items; authorship and collaborative pattern; prominent authors based on h-index; geographical distribution; and assessment of successful papers based on specific indicator. A total of 2224 source items published in 255 issues of 12 volumes of JASIST journal. There is an upward steady growth in number of source items, times cited and cited references during 2001-2012. Information Technology and Library technology; Information source support channels; Users literacy and reading; Information treatment and Information services are the macro and micro domain fields of Information Science and Technology. Article; Book Review; Editorial Material; Letter; Review; article proceeding papers are the major document type of the JASIST publication. Most source items i.e. 971; 610; and 360 of source papers respectively have come with single, second and third authorship pattern. The most number of papers have contributed from USA (996); UK (226) and Canada (124). The country wise source items impact factor, h-index have been measured based on local citations, USA (14 h-index); UK (11 h-index) and Canada and Netherland each having 8 h-index. There are prominent authors, have been identified based on the higher value of h-index. According to this Leydesdorff L and Spink A both were considered top rank with having 8 h-index each. This paper also depicts successful papers measured by its number of citations i.e. time cited.

Military stealth technology is crucial in modern combat, allowing military vehicles to be more su... more Military stealth technology is crucial in modern combat, allowing military vehicles to be more survivable and less detectable. The primary objective of this study is to map and visualise the global research output on military stealth technology in order to acquire insights into the research landscape, identify relevant trends, and facilitate informed decision-making. This study was mainly focused on the mapping and visualisation of global research output on military stealth technology. For conducting the study, data was collected from the Scopus database covering the period from 2001-2021. A total of 299 articles with 1764 citations were found during the search. The majority of papers (74.25 %) were published in a multi-authored mode. The overall collaborative index was 2.84. Professors Zhang X and Zhang Y of China were named top contributors, each with seven papers and 139 and 121 citations, respectively. China leads the list of contributing countries, with 108 papers and 731 citations, followed by the United States (51), India (19), the United Kingdom (12), and South Korea (7). As per keyword analysis, "military applications," "radar," and "military vehicles" were the biggest hotspots. The findings revealed that Asian countries are increasingly dominating their western counterparts in global research publications on stealth technology. This scientometric analysis contributes to a better understanding of how countries are implementing new technologies for military assets. Furthermore, it may assist scientists in identifying core areas of interest and future research directions in the field, as well as library professionals in selecting appropriate resources.

publications to determine his status in the field and raise the visibility of an otherwise unknown
scientist. This research gives a bio-bibliometric analysis of Ivan Gutman's (IG's) research
publications, one of the most influential writers in the fields such as chemistry and mathematics.
Many topological indices, a notion derived from theoretical chemistry and other areas, were
introduced by IG. The Scopus database was searched, and the results yielded 899 publications.
The primary elements used to analyze IG's contributions are publication productivity and
citations, authorship pattern, research collaboration, and communication channels. According to
the findings, Dr. Ivan Gutman's publication productivity is 18 papers per year, and 788 (86%) of
his publications are collaborative. The paper "Molecular orbitals and graph theory Alternate
hydrocarbons' total -electron energy "traced an article with a lot of citations (1204). Bradford's
law is violated because the highest 157 of his publications appeared in the source item of
MATCH-Communications In Mathematical and in Computational Chemistry, and the spreading
of IG's papers among journals. As a result of this bio-bibliometric examination of Professor IG's
scholarly works, it is clear that he is a role model for other researchers aspiring to be successful
scholars in their fields, notably in Chemistry and Mathematics.

The study reveals that 83% of libraries are automated and the remaining libraries are not found to be automated owing to inadequate staff, lack of infrastructure, insufficient funds, lack of training among professional staff etc. This study also depicts the status of the software packages used by libraries and modules used in library automation software. The study finds that out of a total of 24 college libraries, 15(75%) libraries are using proprietary software ‘e-Lib’. The lack of funds for improvements, and lack of facility to implement the improvised software versions are identified as major post automation issues.

The present study examines the book acquisition and technical processing pattern in the libraries... more The present study examines the book acquisition and technical processing pattern in the libraries of Government First Grade College (GFGC) of Karnataka. The study includes 249 colleges spread across the state and shows various methods of book procurement and technical processing employed in the selected college libraries. It is found that 90% of colleges procure library documents based on demand from faculty and student. Almost 45% of colleges use the publisher’s catalogue tool to select documents. At most (83.94%) colleges indicated that insufficient funding was the main obstacle to acquiring reading material. In addition, more than 51% of libraries have adopted the DDC classification scheme for organizing documents, and 45% of libraries provide Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) services. Visualizing Publication Trends in Webology Journal: A Bibliometric Review based on the Scopus Database (2006-2020)

This study aims to explore the publication trends in Webology Journal. The Scopus database was ch... more This study aims to explore the publication trends in Webology Journal. The Scopus database was chosen for the extraction of bibliographic data for the period 2006 to 2020. Then, VOSviewer software was used to analyse the data and generate visualization network maps. A total of 295 publications were found during the study period. The various bibliometrics indicators have been applied to identify the publication trends of Webology Journal. The finding revealed that the highest number of papers (92) and the maximum number of citations (273) appeared in 2020. Among the most contributing nations, Iran has contributed 63 documents, followed by India 50 and the United States 25. Further, the author, A. Noruzi, has found a highly productive and cited author among other authors by contributing 24 documents with 68 citations in Webology journal. The University of Tehran contributed 19 publications and was identified as the top ten highly effective research institutions. The study concludes that Webology journal publishes quality publications, and it is considered one of the leading journals' in the web technology field.

This study aimed to perform a scientometric analysis of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad,... more This study aimed to perform a scientometric analysis of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, from 2002 to 2020. The study has used different scientometric dimensions to evaluate the quantitative growth of research publications. The affiliation search was performed to find out the research publications by using the Scopus database. To make the analysis complete and to get better outcomes, authors have considered total publications produced since the inception of ISB, Hyderabad. This study has analysed the year-wise growth of publications, most preferred sources, authorship pattern, subject-wise distribution of papers, etc. Furthermore, the study also explored international research collaboration. During the study period, the study identified a total of 561 publications and 12029 citations. The study found that 2015 and 2018 are the most productive years with 52 publications. The majority of the papers have appeared under three authorship patterns, and the Degree of Collaboration and Collaborative Coefficient is apparent with a total of 0.90 and 0.57, respectively. The "Panel data models with spatially correlated error components" published by "Kapoor M., Kelejian H.H., Prucha I.R published in the Journal of Econometrics Section is a highly cited (335) paper, and Production and Operations Management is the topmost source for publication.

Global Visibility of Open Access Institutional Repositories of SAARC Countries: An Explorative Study

The concept of open access extends perceived advantages to its stakeholders, especially in the pr... more The concept of open access extends perceived advantages to its stakeholders, especially in the preservation of scholarly publications through digital repositories. Open Access (OA) improves collaboration among the authors with the support of global networks. There has been remarkable progress worldwide in creating institutional repositories to provide open access to resources. Open access institutional repositories (OAIR) provide a stable platform to showcase an individual's intellectual works without a hitch. This study explores the visibility of open access institutional repositories of SAARC countries that are reflected in the Directory of Open Access Institutional Repository (DOAR). Collected data has been analyzed and represented in tabular and graphical formats to understand the variables' relationship. The authors also assessed the contribution of SAARC countries concerning repository type, disciplines, languages covered, and software used for building them. The study's finding revealed that out of 128 institutional repositories, the highest number of (14.06%) institutional repositories are registered in 2013 and 2019 and belong to the institutional category. DSpace is the software used for creating the majority of the repositories (60.94%), followed by E-Prints (25%). Three-fourths of the repositories are represented in the English language having its contents in journal articles. Among the SAARC countries, India contributes the highest number of institutional repositories (72.66%). The discipline-wise distribution of institutional repositories shows that the majority (18.40%) of the collection is represented under the category Science in general followed by multidisciplinary (15.74%) and technology in general 51 (12.35%) respectively as a concluding remark, authors elucidated the opportunities and threats associated with the development of OAIR to meet the educational requirements of the academic community.

It helps to monitor growth of literature and patterns of research. This paper examines the articles published in Journal of Indian Library Association(ILA) for ascertain number chronological distribution of articles, number of pages, authorship pattern and degree of collaboration, institutional wise contribution and geographical distribution of articles were recorded and analyzed for making observations. The studies carried out for this paper found that, majority of papers are multi- authored. The degree of collaboration is found to be 0.51. The geographical distribution reveals that the contribution by India is the highest. And the average author per paper is 6.0.

The DOAJ which lists the open access scientific and scholarly journals in various subject disciplines was selected to analyze the open access availability of the Library and Information Science discipline. In the study it is found that 150 open access e-journals are published in the area of Library and Information Science discipline by various publishers of the world. These 150 Library and Information Science e-journals have been analyzed based on the LIS journals in social science discipline, country of journal published, language of journal published, and year of journal addition to the DOAJ.
