Sabine Berger
Sabine Berger is a Lecturer in Medieval art history at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne [Sorbonne University since 2018]. She is a member of the Centre André Chastel-U.M.R. 8150, where she is involved in themes 1 (‘Decor, monuments, landscapes : holistic approaches to heritage’), 3 (‘Transfers, exchanges, circulations in European and extra-European space’) and 4 (‘Actors, institutions, networks : socio-cultural conditions of artistic activity’). In her doctoral thesis, she studied the artistic and building activity of the French king’s political entourage from 1270 to 1328. She is interested in constructions, artistic commissions, in the culture and spirituality of royal advisers under the last Capetians and the first Valois kings, in the notions of court art and patronage around 1300, but also in Gothic architecture from the 12th to the 15th century in Ile-de-France. She works on other cultural areas as well, such as Central Europe (medieval Hungary) and Latin America (colonial Chile).
