-Dicen que don Eva vive solo desde hace un año -me dijo Julieta el otro día-. A quien pregunta, le dice que Yolanda, su mujer, se fue a su pueblo y no tarda en regresar. Pero también se comenta que lo abandonó, o que se suicidó y que el viejo, por vergüenza, no quiere reconocer ni una cosa ni la otra. Otros cuentan que la tiene encerrada en la casa, pero más de uno asegura, y yo sí lo creo, que la mató y la enterró en el jardín. ¡Ay, Julieta! Sale con cada ocurrencia. Cuando le digo que son chismes, que el viejo es a todo dar, me reta a que le pregunte por su mujer. Habla a lo tarugo, sin conocerlo. No quiere hacer migas con los vecinos porque según ella, no viviremos aquí por mucho tiempo, pero eso está por verse.
